Carrying a Sword on the Back

Ms. Han Guizhen is a resident in the Chicheng Township, Chicheng County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. In April 2001, she was forced to leave home to avoid persecution. On April 25, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and was arrested and transferred to the Pinggu Detention Center in Beijing. During interrogation, police handcuffed her in the position of "carrying a sword on the back" and beat her for half an hour. Because of this torture, Han Guizhen could not stand up and was in extreme pain. Two policemen lifted her by the handcuffs from behind her back and forced her to put her fingerprints on a statement, causing extreme pain to her wrists. Then they numbered her and hung an identification board on her, followed by taking a photo and putting it on the Internet.

Force-feeding

From January to April there were twenty-nine groups of practitioners who were detained at the Pinggu Dentention Center. The police tortured practitioners who were on hunger strikes with cruel force-feedings. The police ordered the prisoners to drag the practitioners to the feeding site. The prison cells were a considerable distance from the feeding site. The effort to drag them for several feedings caused their leather belts to break. During the force-feedings, four or five of policemen and prisoners restrained the practitioners, stretching their four limbs out and stepping on them. Once restrained, they would jam a plastic tube into the nose and down into the stomach, which would cause nasal bleeding and internal bleeding. After the force-feeding, the tube was not removed and the upper end was tied to the practitioner's hair. Then the police forced the practitioners to walk in the yard, and they used thick plastic pipes to beat the practitioners who refused to walk. They also poured cold water on practitioners who could not walk. Some practitioners lost consciousness, so the police scratched their hands and feet with their shoes to check if they were still conscious, and then dragged them back to force-feed them again. They tortured practitioners like this from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The prisoners detained here dared not watch these cruel tortures. Ms. Han Guichen was tortured like this for ten days.

Forced to Inhale the Fumes of Toxic Liquid Drugs

Ms. Li Hongying is a resident in the Chicheng Township, Chicheng Tounty, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. On May 8, 2001, when she went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong, she was arrested and detained in the Tiananmen Public Security Bureau. During the interrogation, the police beat and shocked practitioners. Moreover, they used a special drug to persecute practitioners. It was said that inhaling the fumes of this liquid drug could cause a brain disorder. If this drug spills onto the arm, the skin will become black and blue. They forced Li Hongying to inhale the fumes of this drug, and she immediately fell down to the ground, but remained conscious. In order to make sure she had fallen unconscious, the police twisted her wrists and stepped on her hands. She silently endured the pain and did not move. The malicious police said with satisfaction that the drug had worked well.
