On August 13-14, when the Chinese Consulate General Consul Hu Yeshun and other officials held activities in Atlanta, Falun Gong practitioners held a peaceful appeal in front of the Georgia State Government Building and the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Atlanta respectively, demanding that the Chinese government immediately stop the persecution of Falun Gong and release Atlanta resident Mr. Lu Zhaohui's wife, Falun Gong practitioner Zhou Xuefei, who is suffering persecution in the Sanshui Women Labor Camp in Guangdong Province.
On the afternoon of August 13, a dozen practitioners were peacefully waiting for the Consul General Hu Yeshun group in front of the State Government Building, holding a banner reading, "Stop persecuting Falun Gong in China." When the Consulate officials entered the building from the side gate, two local practitioners walked up to security personnel at the gate to clarify the truth to them and explain that we would like to make a peaceful appeal to the representatives of the Chinese government. One practitioner came to the outside of the State Governor's office with the help of security personnel. When Consul Hu finished the meeting with the governor, the practitioner left the building with Hu's group, and requested Hu to convey the wishes of Dafa practitioners and Chinese people overseas to immediately end the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
On the evening of August 14, a dozen practitioners participated in a peaceful appeal outside the Grand Hyatt Hotel. One banner with Chinese characters, "Heart to heart, please treat Falun Gong kindly!" The other banner with English words, "Please help to end the persecution of Falun Gong in China!" Atlanta resident Mr. Lu Zhaohui stated that the Georgia State House of Representatives unanimously passed Resolution No. 624, strongly condemning Jiang regime's persecution of Falun Gong and its trampling upon human rights, and urging the U.S. State Department to rescue his wife Zhou Xuefei, who has been detained in a Chinese labor camp for more than two years. The Chinese Consulate General Consul Hu said in a letter to the representatives of Georgia regarding Resolution No. 624 that Zhou Xuefei was quite healthy in jail. Mr. Lu said that this claim was not factual. He said, "My wife has been detained in Sanshui Women Labor Camp in Guangdong Province for more than two years. I have never received a letter from her. I've requested to make a phone call to her, but the guards haven't permitted it yet. Many of the practitioners that were released from the same labor camp were shocked with electric batons, and some were subjected to brainwashing and sleep deprivation. The guards once denied food to my wife. For the past two years, she has been monitored constantly by other prisoners. According to my mother, her eyesight has gotten very poor, even with glasses. I am extremely worried about her health."
Mr. Lu is waiting for the Chinese government to give him a reply regarding the guarantee of the basic human rights of a husband and a wife to make a phone call to each other. He thought that since the authorities claimed that his wife is in good condition, why can't they allow his wife to tell him directly how she is?
Mr. Lu also expressed his gratitude for the continued efforts of the U.S. federal and state governments to secure the release of Zhun Xuefei and all detained Falun Gong practitioners.
