Since March 2003, our Falun Dafa truth clarification materials have focused primarily on the topics of bringing Jiang Zemin to justice and rescuing American citizen Charles Li, along with other topics in both Chinese and Spanish. We mailed or directly delivered the truth clarification to the Peruvian president, various levels of government, congresspersons, embassies of different countries, and the local Chinese community to clarify the truth about Dafa and the persecution in China to all people. We were met with many surprisingly good results. We deeply felt what Teacher has offered to us is so precious!

About two months ago, we once again mailed Dafa truth materials to over 40 mayors in the areas surrounding Lima. Once, Dafa practitioners went to a city hall to introduce Falun Gong, and they asked for an appointment with the Mayor. At that moment, the Mayor, along with several staff members, walked down the stairs in front of them. The Dafa practitioners introduced Dafa to the Mayor and asked them to allow for a free Falun Gong teaching class to be held at the city hall. After listening to their introduction, the Mayor gladly replied: "That's great! An exercise that promotes both physical and mental health is exactly what we need." He introduced the officer who is in charge of sports and health issues to us onsite and asked us to contact him directly.

One week later, we began a practice site in this community. Over 100 people learned the Falun Gong exercises on the first day.

In May, the Mayor of Comas invited us for an interview. We told him in detail what Falun Gong is and how it is persecuted in China. Later, the Mayor himself arranged and watched a Dafa exercise demonstration on June 14, 2003 in the square opposite to the city hall. Dafa practitioners all wore yellow T-shirts and white trousers that day. When the music started, their graceful movements, peaceful expressions and the compassionate energy field drew the attention of attendees.

After the demonstration, the Mayor said: "The principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance and the idea of upgrading people's morality as suggested by Falun Dafa will benefit not only people in our community, but also people all over Peru. The five sets of exercises are very beautiful. I will supply the city auditorium and other provisions to let our citizens learn Falun Gong. Many thanks to Dafa practitioners who brought us these beautiful exercises." After the speech, the Mayor had a group photo with the Dafa practitioners. On June 30, he signed a letter to show his support. This was the first letter of support for Falun Dafa issued by a mayor in Peru.

On June 17, the community coordinator of the city of Intenpetencia invited us to teach Falun Gong at their area. Since we had introduced Falun Gong to them before, there were about 50 people who come to learn the on the first day. After the first class, we were surrounded by people who were eager to find out when the next class would be held. After they learned that we would offer classes every week in the future, they were very happy.

Though we have been delivering Dafa truth materials and VCDs to the Chinese community and restaurants in Lima throughout the past three years, we did not cover all areas. In recent months, we began delivering materials by walking or driving along all the major streets. Dafa practitioners carried Dafa truth materials with them at all times and paid attention to all the Chinese restaurants we had previously ignored. During the process, we found that many of the Chinese people have changed their attitudes towards Dafa--from indifference in the past to warmth.

Once, the manager of a Chinese restaurant refused to take the materials. A practitioner patiently showed him photos of the Tiananmen Self-Immolation Event and told him the truth in a kind and compassionate manner. During the process, the man changed his attitude. He nodded as he listened and even asked his wife come to listen. After he learned that the practitioner had walked for several hours in the hot sun, he offered a cold drink. He also told the practitioner that there were many other Chinese restaurants that Dafa practitioners had not yet visited.

Another time, when we went to a Chinese restaurant in the afternoon, the door was closed. We placed the material under the door. Right at the moment, a man came. Through the glass door, he read the words on the cover of the material: "One stack of material, one sincere heart, one blessing, one kind wish." It appeared that his heart was moved by the words.

Yet another time we drove to a Chinese restaurant where the boss accepted our materials gladly. His three or four year old daughter smiled and waved to us the whole time we were there. She stood there to see us off and did not want us to leave. Almost all the Chinese people accepted our materials very willingly, and some warmly saw us off. Some stood at the door with their whole family to wish us farewell.

One Dafa practitioner in Peru applied for an extension of his passport but the passport was withheld for three months. The Chinese embassy then asked that the practitioner give up his practice of Falun Gong. The practitioner refused and the embassy canceled his passport. We used this example to clarify the truth to people, telling them about how Jiang's regime has persecuted overseas Dafa practitioners.

We asked for advice concerning the legal issues at an attorney's office. We told them the facts about how Falun Gong practitioners are persecuted in China by Jiang's regime. This won their broad sympathy for Falun Gong practitioners. Then we told the UN Human Rights Group in Peru about how Jiang Zemin's regime has extended the persecution methods used in China to overseas Falun Gong practitioners. We delivered to them some relevant video and written materials in Spanish. They showed support and sympathy.

A university student who was working in an attorney's office building read our letter and truth materials and showed great interest. He invited Dafa practitioners to take part in a seminar on the analysis of international human rights organized by the university. The seminar was attended by lawyers, professors and students. In the seminar, when introducing Dafa practitioners, the host lawyer said in a very serious tone: "this is a very complicated but typical case. The reason for this persecution is simply that one practices and tells others about the practice Falun Gong." Before the Falun Gong practitioner's speech, the host explained what Falun Gong is, based on an introductory Dafa flyer. The Falun Gong practitioner described how the passport had been canceled, and explained the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China and how the persecution has been extended overseas. The practitioner described the case of the detention of American citizen Charles Li in China when he went back to China to visit his relatives. When photos of the persecuted Falun Gong practitioners in China were shown at the meeting, it caused quite a stir in the meeting room. After the seminar, the Student Union in the University said they would print a special supplementary issue for Falun Gong to help more people learn about it.

To let more people know the truth about Falun Gong, we set up banners which read "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance", and "Stop the Persecution of Falun Gong" in both Chinese and Spanish on the lawn in front of the Chinese embassy. We also prepared Dafa truth materials for people who were passing by in both Chinese and Spanish.

When we sat on the lawn in front of the Embassy, the Peruvian police officers in charge of guarding the Chinese embassy would greet us very kindly. Whenever a new guard would begin their shift, we would clarify the truth to them. All of the guards accepted truth clarification flyers and Dafa materials gladly. Whenever they heard that Falun Gong practitioners are tortured by Chinese police officers, these Peruvian guards would shake their heads: "Why they are so mean! That's too bad! Too bad!" After reading our material, some of them asked us not to go back to China, because China treated Falun Gong unfairly. Some asked us for more materials, saying that they would introduce Falun Gong to their loved ones. Once, a guard asked us if Dafa practitioners commit suicide. We told him that Dafa practitioners are not allowed to kill. Killing of any life, including oneself, is a sin according to Falun Gong. The guard said: "the people inside the embassy told me that Falun Gong practitioners commit suicide, but I do not believe them. I know you people, you have been here for two years. You are very polite and nice. The embassy people are lying."

Once, a Peruvian who introduced himself as a TV reporter wanted to interview us. He said that a photographer would come within half an hour, but during the interview he used a mini-camcorder to take videos of Dafa practitioners, and the photographer did not come. We felt that this was strange. When a Dafa practitioner took his photo, he hurriedly asked Dafa practitioner not to do that. He then asked for the name and ID of the Peruvian Dafa practitioners. When asked what they would be used for, he did not answer. Dafa practitioners asked for his ID, but he said that he did not have it with him. Not long after this Peruvian left, two people came out of the embassy and asked us for truth clarification materials. At that moment, a Dafa practitioner spotted a person standing on top of the embassy building. We understood what was happening. With a compassionate mind, we gave the two people from the embassy Dafa materials, and clarified the truth to them. They did not dare to make eye contact with the Dafa practitioners.

The righteous actions of Dafa practitioners in front of the Chinese embassy moved many people. Drivers would slow down. Some raised their thumbs, some asked for materials. More would stop and asked in detail how China has persecuted Falun Gong. After they learned the truth, they would shake hands with Dafa practitioners and say: "good luck!"
