(Clearwisdom.net) Prior to the Chinese Lunar New Year, Ms. Yeong-ching Foo, fiancée of US citizen Charles Li, who is currently detained by Chinese authorities, went to Washington DC to seek help for his release.
California Congresswoman Anna G. Eshoo appealed to all members of the US Congress Human Rights Committee and others concerned with human rights to stand together with her to help Charles.

According to the US consulate in Shanghai, on January 22, Charles Li, a US citizen from the San Francisco Bay Area was arrested by Chinese security officers shortly after he landed at Guangzhou Airport in China. He was then transferred to Yangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, thousands of miles away from Guangzhou. US consular officials are allowed only one 30 minutes meeting with Charles Li per month.
Congresswoman Anna G. Eshoo urged other Congress members in her appeal letter to jointly convey their concerns for Mr. Li and request his release. She invited them to jointly sign a letter to Mr. Yang Jiechi, Chinese Ambassador in the US to request the Chinese government to release Charles Li immediately.
Charles Li's Chinese name is Li Xiangchun. He is in his 30's, and holds a doctoral degree in medical science. He formerly did research at Harvard University, and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2000. He manages his own business related to Chinese medicine. Lai Ning, Falun Gong spokesperson for rescuing Charles Li said, "Falun Gong practitioners' position is that Charles Li did not commit any crimes. He is an American citizen, and the Chinese government should release him immediately."
Ms. Yeong-ching Foo, Charles' fiancee, is a software engineer, a graduate of the University of California, Davis. She is seeking help in Washington DC to rescue Charles. She said that Charles went back to China to visit his family and relatives. He operates an Import/Export Company dealing with traditional Chinese medicine in China.
Ms. Foo is concerned for her fiancee's safety. She said, "China has adopted brutal and horrendous methods to suppress Falun Gong. I know nothing about Charles' current situation. I hope he can come back soon."
