In December 2002, eight practitioners illegally detained at Yi County's Detention Center of Hebei Province were sentenced to long-term imprisonment. Among them, Mr. Zhang Dongsheng was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment, Mr. Cao Xiaogang 13 years, Ms. Li Guimin 13 years, Mr. Yan Hequan 11 years, Mr. Zhang Changsheng 10 years, Mr. Shi Wenshui 9 years, Ms. Ma Xiuqin 9 years, and Mr. Hu Shenhua 8 years. These eight practitioners were all subjected to the "tiger bench" torture. [Practitioners are forced to sit on a small iron bench that is approximately 20 cm (6 inches) tall with their knees tied together. With their hands tied behind their backs or sometimes placed on their knees, they are forced to sit straight up and look straight ahead. They are not allowed to turn their heads, close their eyes, talk to anyone or move at all. Several inmates are assigned to watch over the practitioners and force them to remain motionless while sitting on the bench. Usually some hard objects are inserted underneath the practitioners' lower legs or ankles to make it harder for them to tolerate this abuse (see illustration on <http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2001/11/24/16156.html>)]

A female director, named Xu, from Yi County's Police Department, had once tortured Hu Shenhua for 8 days consecutively.

In November 2002, during the 16^th Party Congress, in order to force practitioners detained in Baoding City's Forced Labor Camp to give up their belief in Dafa, officials brutally tortured these practitioners by using electric batons, tying with thin ropes, and hanging up with handcuffs.

Mr. Dong Hanjie, an employee of the Zhuozhou Mine Bureau, was shocked to the point of his entire body was covered with dark burns. His mouth was bleeding. Inhumane policemen shocked him by continuously placing the electric batons on his neck without letup. The thin ropes used to tie him up in this method of torture cut into his flesh and caused lacerations. [The police tie up the practitioner with a thin rope, circle the rope around his neck, and tie his hands behind his back. Then the police would use all the force they could muster to tighten the rope. The rope becomes tighter and tighter around the body of the practitioner, and makes it more and more difficult for him to breathe. The pain is intense. There are instances when the rope was tightened enough to break a practitioner's arm].

On January 22, 2003, two banners 9 meters long and 1.5 meters wide (27x7 feet) were hung outside a building located along a busy street in a district of Sichuan Province. Red characters reading, "Falun Dafa is Great" on the yellow background fabric is very bright and eye-catching. People passing by the crossing near the banner all stopped and had a look. Some even read it out loud.

Dafa practitioner Yue Zhanbing and his wife from Pangcun Town have been detained since they unfurled a banner in July 2002.

Zhu Yanjun, Li Xingzhe and their wives were sentenced to two years of forced labor without any evidence of committing a crime. Police used all kinds of excruciating means to torture them and also ransacked their home many times. Police often threaten their over 60-year-old parents and their 10-year-old son. The elderly parents are so terrified that they are suffering all kinds of diseases now. In spite of all this, the couple doesn't give in. After being tortured for nearly a year, they have been sent to the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp.

After Dafa practitioner Mr. Jiao Tianyun from Linxia County had been held in a forced labor camp for one year and four months, Linxia County's director Han Dailong, Xianfeng Township's director Li Wenzhong, and Xianfeng Township's head Qi Xianjun fired him from work and escalated the persecution against him, only because he persists in practicing Dafa. At present, this practitioner is forced to live in exile and has no economic support. The vicious police are searching for him everywhere.

Dafa Practitioner Liu Wei from Shenyang City was a policeman in the Zaohua Prison. He used to be a head of the Guard Section and a team leader. He obtained the Fa in 1995. In 1999, when Jiang's regime began to persecute Falun Gong, he appealed twice in Beijing and was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor. In the camp he followed an evil path. After he was released, he realized that he had taken a wrong path and came back into the Fa-rectification. On May 23, 2001, somebody turned him in and he was thus arrested and held in the Dongling Detention Center.

In the detention center, as he refused to admit the crimes made-up against him by police and refused to give up the belief in Dafa, he was locked in solitary confinement and put on handcuffs and shackles for one year and a half. He became extremely weak. His body became swollen and he has difficulty walking. He can't see clearly. He used to weigh over 90 kilograms (around 200 pounds) but looks now like a skeleton. Recently, Dongling District's Court sentenced him to five years imprisonment. He appealed to Shenyang City's Intermediate Court, but was ignored. The comment was as simple as one sentence: "Don't accept the case." In order to resist the vicious persecution, Liu Wei staged a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention and sentence. He is now held in the Dongling Prison. At present, there are over ten Dafa practitioners being held in the prison. They have steadfast belief in Dafa.

Police in Yangchun City's Detention Center incited drug addicts to cruelly torture Dafa practitioner Mr. Chen. The practitioner has been held with drug addicts since he was arrested. He was kicked and beaten the moment he got in the cell. He was tortured everyday, and was forced to work overnight without sleep. The inmates forced Mr. Chen to sit on broken glass pieces when he felt tired. When Mr. Chen got even more tired, the inmates forced him to kneel on the broken glass pieces. When Mr. Chen was about to fall asleep, the inmates even burnt his face with lit cigarette butts. What is more inhumane is that they didn't allow the practitioner to relieve his bowels for a month. The practitioner had a stomachache every day. One month later when they allowed the practitioner to release himself, he was unable to defecate and had to use his fingers to dig it out. He bled a lot and the excrement dug out was as hard as stone. During the period, he was not allowed to drink water, so his lips dried out as if being burnt.

By the end of September 2002 and the beginning of October, multiple Dafa practitioners from Linqu City were arrested and sentenced to forced labor, including Dafa practitioner Liu Shimin from Zhifang Village in Zhifang Town, Gao Wenlong from Gaojia Village in Zhifang Town and Wang Xingkai from Yinjiahe Village in Zhifang Town.

In April 2002, policemen staking outside of the rented house of Dafa practitioner Ms. Luu Renjuan from Yantai City, Shandong Province illegally arrested her. Her whereabouts are unknown and her son is homeless. We hope righteous and kind people would pay attention to this case.

After Dafa practitioners Ms. Chen Ping, Ms. Xu Mingzhi and Mr. Yi Chunhua, from Shapingba District, Chongqing City who were at first illegally detained at the Maojiashan Female Detention Center and the Xishanping Male Detention Center, respectively, and were then released, they could not go back home. Instead, officials from the "610 Office sent them to the Geleshan Brainwashing Class for further persecution. [Please note: the "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.] They have been imprisoned there for over one year. Their present situation is unknown.

Some steadfast Dafa practitioners are still illegally detained at Shapingba District's Jingkou Brainwashing Class. Many of them were directly sent to the brainwashing class from the Xishanping Male Detention Center after their detention terms had expired. The detention terms vary from three to six months to one year.

Dafa practitioner Ms. Guo Limin from Hailun City, Heilongjiang Province has been illegally detained almost half a year. Dafa practitioner Mr. Wen Jitao was arrested again after living in exile. Now he is suffering inhumane mental and physical tortures. Dafa practitioner Mr. Chen Feng has been illegally sentenced to forced labor.

Recently in Suiling County Heilongjiang Province, many Dafa practitioners have been arrested.

Dafa practitioner Lu Hong from Guizhou Province has lived in exile over one year due to persecution. The lawless policemen intended to entrap him anywhere they would find him. At about 3:30 p.m. on January 20, 2003, lawless policemen from Guiyang City's Yunyan Police Precinct arrested him near the Guiyang Post Building.

In March 2001, Yueyang City's Luowang Judicial Precinct Authorities in Hunan Province arrested Dafa practitioners to participate in a brainwashing class. A person in charge said, "If the Party says this wall is black, you cannot say it's white." So what did they do during the so-called "educating and helping" session? -- Gambling, watching nasty videos and even taking off each others pants, female and male. Zhang Yihui, director of the Luowang Judicial Precinct even said some vulgar words after this clowning around. How could Dafa practitioners be "transformed" by such a group of nasty personnel, the so-called leaders of the party, and transformed into what?
