Zhang Shihong, a former member of Wuhan City's Party Committee, secretary of Wuhan City's Political and Judiciary Committee and head of Wuhan City's Police Department was extremely ruthless in persecuting Falun Gong. Recently, he was arrested because he was involved in a major financial crime. During his detention, the once insufferably arrogant Yang tried to commit suicide three times. No matter who persecutes Dafa and Dafa practitioners, that person will accrue boundless karma. When it comes time for him to repay the debt, the karma will inevitably transform into disasters.

Li Qing, head of the Zhaozhou County Detention Center in Daqing City illegally makes torture tools to torture Dafa practitioners, including Liu Guozhi, Liu Zhikun, Pan Junfeng, and Guo Shuyan. He beat them until their buttocks were covered with blood. Li Qing also extorted thousands of Yuan from Guo Shuyan's family and he conspired with police officers Wang Zhong and Sun to hang up Guo Shuyan while handcuffed and shackled; then they savagely beat him.

Around November 27, police officers in Puyang City, Henan Province abducted more than 20 Dafa practitioners.

On December 1, 2003, the persecutors in Yunfu City, Guangdong Province held a brainwashing class in Yunfu City. Recently, it has been discovered that four practitioners have been abducted and sent to the class. They are: Lai Jiawen and his wife, Yu Yuming and another practitioner. The police went to the practitioners' homes to coerce and trick them. However, the practitioners and some family members who knew the truth resisted the persecution.

Dafa practitioner Zhao Lingru, who was arrested last year during the large-scale arrest in Baoding City, is currently being detained at the Baoding City Detention Center. It was heard that in early December, the local police illegally interrogated her, and that the North District Police Department is in charge of the case. This police department is quite malicious and is in charge of all cases related to Dafa practitioners in Baoding City. In the large-scale arrest last year, a dozen practitioners were sent to this police department and cruelly tortured.

Since July 20, 1999, authorities from the Yaohua Glass Group Corporation in Qinhuangdao City conspired with the "610 Office*" and police officers to fiendishly persecute Dafa practitioners. The persecutors tried to force Dafa practitioners to give up Falun Dafa, get them to turn in Dafa books and to write "guarantee statements**." They helped the "610 Office" and the police department to illegally arrest Dafa practitioners. In the past four years, many Dafa practitioners who used to work for this company were illegally sent to prisons, labor camps, detention centers and were tortured. The Propaganda Department also published hundreds of articles slandering the founder of Falun Gong. The corporation also forced some employees to view movies that slander Dafa to brainwash the employees and poison their minds. Right now, the persecutors are asserting renewed pressure on the practitioners in order to achieve the so-called "reform quota" for 2003.

Corrupt officials at Nanchong City's Brainwashing Class in Sichuan Province set up a secret prison to persecute Dafa practitioners. For each class term, every practitioner is forced to pay 3,000 Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China.]. They initially planned that one term would last three months, but now it will likely be shortened. Around ten practitioners are abducted for each class term. Closed-circuit TV systems are used in the classroom, and the persecutors keep the practitioners under 24-hour surveillance. The instructors and assistant instructors eat and sleep with the practitioners to control their every move. It was learned that more than 130 names of practitioners from Nanchong City are on the "610 Office" blacklist.

During the Moon Festival of 1999, Liu Piren, head of Chaoyanggou Town's Police Department in Zhaozhou County, Daqing City brutally tortured Dafa practitioner Liang Jingli. He violently kicked Liang Jingli's chest and chin, and tortured him with the "Tiger Bench" [Practitioners are forced to sit on a small iron bench that is approximately 20 cm (6 inches) tall with their knees tied together. With their hands tied behind their backs or sometimes placed on their knees, they are forced to sit straight up and look straight ahead. They are not allowed to turn their heads, close their eyes, talk to anyone or move at all. Several inmates are assigned to watch over the practitioners and force themáto remain motionless while sitting on the bench. Usually some hard objects are inserted underneath the practitioners' lower legs or ankles to make it harder for them to tolerate this abuse (see illustration on <http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2001/11/24/16156.html)]. He also sent Liang Jingli to the Zhaozhou County Detention Center to torture him. In 2002, Liu Piren was sent to prison for corruption and the local people all cheered.

In December 2001, Huang Qingjin, the accountant for Chaoyang Village, Zhaozhou County, Daqing City went to Dafa practitioners' homes to harass them and to try force them to give up Falun Dafa. In order to please his superiors, Huang Qingjin constantly cursed Dafa and Dafa practitioners. Soon, all of his cows, which he had been taking care of for a long time, died.

The head of a blowing machine factory in Sichuan Province tried to force a Falun Gong practitioner who worked there to go to a brainwashing class, but the practitioner firmly resisted this persecution. In the end, the superior said, "I really don't know what to do with you now. If you don't go, we, as your supervisors, will suffer. You must go." The practitioner then decided to resign so he could express his determination, and so the persecutors could not get what they wanted, and at the same time other people would understand. His superiors were stunned when they read the resignation letter, and they did not dare to approve or report it. In the end they decided to give this practitioner a long vacation. The evil's plan to abduct the practitioner to a brainwashing class was again thwarted.

* The "610 Office" is a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well all other political and judiciary systems.

* "Guarantee Statement": A statement to declare that he or she is remorseful for practicing Falun Gong and guarantees not to practice Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Gong practitioners.
