Practitioner Tan, male, 30s, who worked at an artistic newspaper office, was arrested in January 2002 and is still being detained at a brainwashing center near Lugouqiao in Beijing Fengtai district.

Mu Qinglan, female, 50s, was a worker at the Shijiazhuang City Second Printing and Dyeing Factory. On the evening of August 31, 2002, the police arrested her while she was clarifying the truth. Her whereabouts are unknown.

In Mudanjiang area, hundreds of practitioners were arrested and detained, and they are suffering inhuman tortures. In Sanlizhuang Detention Center, female guard Zhang Baofeng and inmate Li Peilan (a female murderer) monitor practitioners' activities inside the cells. They brutally beat female practitioners Wang Aixian, Shi Shuqin, Meng Jihui, and Ren Qiaoling. Zhang ordered practitioners who practice the exercises inside the cell to face the wall, slapped them, and confiscated their money and possessions.

Police officer Xu Xiaohui from Gaocun Village Police Station mercilessly beat Dafa practitioners Meng Yuyu, Jing Jianxin, and Jing Shaoling, and confiscated 200 Yuan from practitioner Shi Shuqi.

At midnight on August 14th, 2000, Liu Qijun, male, the director of a residential registration office at Gaocun Village Police Station, got drunk and brutally beat female practitioner Li Qiaoyun. Two other police officers tried to force practitioners Li Qiaoyun, Li Wanxuan (male), and Ma Yanrui (female) to give up practicing Falun Gong. When the practitioners refused, the police tortured them for three hours using means like brutally pressing the person's head against the protruding corner of a wall while pushing the feet against another object.

Feng Songmao, the Party secretary of Yingyang City, made up lies to slander Falun Gong. Ran Qiaoling of Rengou Village in Liuhe Village, Yingyang City went to Beijing to appeal in mid-November 2000 and was illegally sent to Zhengzhou Shibalihe Female Forced Labor Camp. After enduring all kinds of torture, she suffered a mental collapse. Zheng Feng, the section chief of Yingyang Police Department, has been arresting Dafa practitioners and torturing practitioners detained in Sanlizhuang Detention Center since July 22, 1999. In the summer of 2001, Zheng Feng led some people in destroying a website used to promote Falun Dafa and forced practitioners into the brainwashing center. Around July 22, 2000, a police officer, badge number of 3337334, brutally beat practitioners from various areas in China who went to Beijing to appeal. He illegally confiscated practitioners' belongings and cash.

Zhang Na, female, 36, with a Master's degree, was a teacher at Beijing Xisi Middle School. She was arrested during the 2002 Spring Festival and illegally sentenced to three years in Xinan Female Forced Labor Camp.

Nanmusi Female Forced Labor Camp illegally detains practitioners who persist in practicing Falun Gong for indefinite terms. These practitioners include: Wang Hongxia, held for three years although she was only sentenced to two years, Fan Ying's sentence was extended by half a year after serving a two-year sentence, and Du Jie and Gong Shulian were detained for two months past their sentences.

The "special control squad' in Handan Forced Labor Camp was set up to illegally persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. Currently, practitioners Qin Zhongke, Gao Wenmin, and Zhang Hongbin are being tortured there. The police instigate inmates to torture practitioners using various methods such as forcing practitioners to remain standing for extended periods of time, kneeling for extended periods, being pinched, being shocked with electric batons and sleep deprivation. Qin has been tortured for ten days in a row.

On August 10, 2002, Dafa practitioner Xiao Hui from Ren County stayed with a relative who also practices Falun Gong. At midnight, the police broke into the house and arrested Xiao Hui as well as two other family members. The female owner of the house was forced to jump off a high wall in order to escape, leaving a young child at home. The whereabouts of the arrested practitioners are unknown.

At the same time, the police from Xingtai Police Department and Nanhe County Police Department scaled a wall to get into a practitioner's house. The practitioner was away on a business trip. They forced her daughter to reveal the practitioner's whereabouts and scared her a great deal. The police searched the house and confiscated the book Zhuan Falun.

Since mid-July of 2002, Xinhua Forced Labor Camp has escalated the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. The police from the labor camp headquarters personally went to the "special control squad" to direct the forceful brainwashing of Falun Gong practitioners. They only allow these practitioners to sleep one to four hours a day. Four guards supervise one practitioner and try to force the practitioner to read materials and watch videos that slander Falun Gong. When a practitioner refuses, they force the practitioner to squat for long periods of time. During the day, they force the practitioners to do drills. Some practitioners have vomited after being subjected to these tortures. The guards also instigate some people to kick, drag, pinch, and burn Falun Gong practitioners with cigarettes. The police use people who used to practice Falun Gong but under intense pressure and brainwashing went astray in their understanding and now have collaborated with the authorities to persecute and spread lies to true practitioners. Firm practitioners are suffering under great pressure. The authorities also isolate practitioners from each other by sending them to other squads.

Practitioner Zhang Feng went to Beijing to validate Dafa in 2001 and his work unit cut off his salary. The police often harassed him and this persecution forced him to leave home at the beginning of 2001. At the beginning of 2002, the police arrested him and tortured him at the Liaocheng Detention Center. He has resisted the evil persecution using a hunger strike for half a year. Despite his weak body, the police tortured him with force-feeding and sent him to the provincial prison, which refused to accept him because of his poor health. The police then detained him at the city's hospital and assigned people to watch and force-feed him everyday. Now, the police are sending him to a brainwashing center again.

Dafa practitioner Zhang Shuping, female, wrote a letter to the city's Party Secretary in 2001 about Falun Gong, and the police put her in a detention center. She firmly resisted the evil persecution with a hunger strike. They force-fed her, sent her to a psychiatric institution, and tortured her with neurotoxic drugs. Later, her work unit bailed her out. This May, she distributed Falun Dafa flyers, and she was again illegally arrested and taken to the detention center, where she has been held ever since.
