The below is a story of a practitioner's suffering from cruel torture and persecution. Her experience is like a drop in the ocean among so many cases of persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

Practitioner Guo Boqing, female, born in 1966, has been an employee of Chenzhou Chemical Engineering Corporation, Hunan Province. On February 24, 2001 when she was clarifying the truth of Falun Gong to the public, local police and "610" Officers arrested her. The police searched her home and confiscated much of her personal belongings. She was then sent to the Second Police Station of Chenzhou City. She was released after two months of detention and the police extorted 3000 yuan from her as the condition of her release. This time she stayed at home for 20 days. As May 13, World Falun Dafa Day, was approaching, officers of the "610 Office" feared that practitioners might hold activities. So they took Guo Boqing to a plant attached to the corporation, which is located 40 kilometers away, under the guise of a job requirement. They assigned 6 people to monitor Guo and to try to force her to give up her beliefs in Falun Gong. She was locked up there for more than 2 months. Later on, she was again sent to the Second Detention Center of Chenzhou City. Up to now, she has been detained there for about 16 months. It is not clear at this time when she will be released. (The 610 Office is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political or judicial systems.)

On February 24, 2001, the police took her to a secret place and imposed many tortures during an interrogation. With various tortures they tried to force her to tell them the source of truth-clarifying literature. They violently forced her to kneel down on the ground and placed bricks on her legs. The officers shouted: "Whenever you change your mind, you would be allowed to stand up." She was forced to kneel for 16 hours.

During the two months of detention, Guo kept clarifying the truth to people and practicing Falun Gong in this environment. She held firm to her belief in Dafa. Therefore the evil forces created charges of her "continuing to travel and promote Falun Gong." They just used this as an excuse to persecute her to a greater extent.

In November of 2002, they opened the so-called "court" for this case. They created rumors and fabricated lies against practitioners. They also prohibited practitioners from finding lawyers or defending themselves. They asked her, "Do you still want to be a cultivator?" She immediately answered, "Even if you want to shoot me, yes I still want to practice Falun Gong."

In the detention center, she and 2 other practitioners suffered much maltreatment and torture. Guards and officers often violently beat them. Not to let her suffering bring worry to her family members, Guo never mentioned how much she had suffered or how she had been mistreated. But her family members could still see the wounds covering her body, the blood stains on her mouth and nose. We also learned from other practitioners who had been released from other prisons that Guo kept practicing Falun Gong exercises inside her cell. In addition to brutally beating her, they also placed shackles and cuffs on her. Even under maltreatment that was regularly used on death row inmates, she still could calmly face those tribulations and never gave up practicing Falun Gong. Her actions gained respect and admiration from many everyday people around her. They said that Falun Gong practitioners are great.

During their days in the detention center, practitioners are required to work over 15 hours per day. They could only take about 3.5 ounces of rice for their meal. Although their families brought food and money to them each time they visited, practitioners could only get half of the money for their own use. The price of things for sale in jail was several times higher than the market price. The heavy labor was mandatory. If they did not finish their jobs, they would suffer brutal beatings. In the cells, one could hear painful and miserable cries all the time. Colorful light bulbs were one of the products exported to other countries for use during the Christmas season.

The evil forces in China use very despicable ways to treat practitioners. The law in their eyes is just a piece of paper and an instrument used to deceive the world with lies.
