I have recently enlightened to the fact that, although going to the Chinese Consulate is a simple act requiring no special skill, it is a great, divine act. During the three days of continuously sending forth righteous thoughts in front of the consulate, I often felt powerful waves of energy surging through my body. There was a concentration of evil at the consulate, and we were able to eradicate a great deal of it. I feel that more evil was eradicated in these few days than all that we had previously eradicated put together.

On the evening of June 7, 2002, Falun Dafa practitioners in New Zealand split into two groups: Each weekend since mid-May, one group of Falun Dafa practitioners from different parts of New Zealand took turns sending forth righteous thoughts at the Chinese Embassy in Wellington. The other group continuously sent forth righteous thoughts in front of the Chinese Consulate in Auckland in an around-the-clock vigil.

Falun Dafa practitioners from the American Midwest gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate in Chicago, Illinois, from June 7^th through June 9^th, continuously sending forth righteous thoughts. Most of the practitioners were from the Greater Chicago and Champagne areas of Illinois, and from Michigan and Indiana. The practitioners persevered in sending forth righteous thoughts every half hour. Some practitioners continually did this on a very frequent basis for thirty-eight hours straight, from 9:00 a.m. on June 8, 2002 to 11:00 p.m. on June 9, 2002.

Falun Dafa practitioners in Toronto continuously sent forth righteous thoughts together in front of the Chinese Consulate and at the time of this article have already entered the seventh day. The practitioners who have day jobs will go there after work, with some of them even driving there at 6:00 a.m. to send forth righteous thoughts before they leave for work. The practitioners who do not have jobs will go there after finishing their other Falun Dafa activities. The retired persons are sending forth righteous thoughts to eradicate the evil and also participating in other Falun Dafa work, such as distributing flyers and newspapers.

On June 7, 2002, Falun Dafa practitioners in Belgium sent forth righteous thoughts in front of the Chinese Consulates in Belgium at exact times. On June 8, 2002, practitioners sent forth righteous thoughts at every half hour, to more effectively eradicate the evil forces existing in other dimensions that poison living beings and persecute practitioners. This also served to better coordinate with the simultaneous actions of Falun Dafa practitioners around the world.

Falun Dafa practitioners from Tokyo and surrounding areas gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate in Tokyo and at a nearby park to send forth righteous thoughts. In this great moment of eradicating the evil by using powerful righteous thoughts, we Falun Dafa practitioners stay firmly focused on our mission and perform this key activity well.

On June 7^th, New York practitioners sent forth righteous thoughts outside the Chinese consulate. Practitioners have lately distributed flyers and sent forth righteous thoughts on a daily basis in front of the Chinese consulate.

Dafa practitioners in Melbourne, Australia have been sending forth righteous thoughts in front of the Chinese consulate for seven consecutive days. For the past week, the weather was often dark and cloudy, but the rain, as predicted by weather forecasts, never once fell. Whenever the practitioners erected their palms, the rain immediately "shrank" back.

On June 12, Roger Helmer, Member of the European Parliament wrote the president of Iceland regarding the banning Falun Gong practitioners from entering Iceland. He expressed his hope that Chinese citizens who enter legally should not meet with interference because of outside political pressure.

On June 12, Nelly Maes, Member of the European Parliament, President of the European Free Alliance wrote a letter to Icelandic government officials, in which she stated, "This terrifying step of the Chinese government, putting pressure on the European countries, has surprised a lot of governments and European citizens because they are not only violating the Chinese law and human rights but also the European and international laws and human rights." She also requested the Icelandic government to reconsider the actions it has taken toward Falun Gong practitioners.

On April 17, Mark Udall, U.S. senator from the state of Colorado, wrote to U.S president Bush and expressed his concern regarding the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in China and especially in Changchun City. He hoped that the president would take appropriate measures to stop China's abuse of human rights.

In June, Shaanxi Province, Chongqing City of Sichuan Province, Hubei Province, Guizhou Province and other areas suffered from heavy rains, which resulted in mountain floods. More than 30 million people were affected and 205 people died. Jilin Province suffered from serious drought for a second time. Gale-force winds, clocked at degree eight, attacked Zhenzhou City in Henan Province, yellow sand was everywhere and trees fell. Rainstorms and strong winds that occur only once in a century hit Changsha City in Hubei Province, with egg-sized hailstones, thirty-five villages in Jinjing Town suffered losses to different degrees.

Shaanxi Province suffered from a widespread, severe rainstorm that has lasted for a few days. As the result, large areas suffered floods and mud-and-rock slides. At least 150 people have died; many houses collapsed and roads were destroyed. Large areas in western China were attacked by tremendous rainstorms, which triggered mountain floods. At least 46 people died and more than 300 people are unaccounted for. Changchun City has had no rain during flood season and five rivers within the city have stopped flowing.

Fourteen Chinese provinces, including Shandong and Hebei, suffered from a large-scale locust plague. The affected area is 10% larger than last year. The Dagang District, Tianjin City, only 300 kilometers distance from Beijing, is suffering from a heavy locust plague; the density of locusts has reached 4,000~5,000 locusts/m². The proliferation of locusts is out of control.

On June 1^st, hordes of caterpillars attacked the area between Songshulin and Cuifeng, [two mountain areas] along Nenglin [Railroad] Line at Qiqihar City Railroad Branch. The caterpillars were all over the railroad tracks and the roadbed. One pile of caterpillars was measured to be 1.1 meters [about 3.6 ft] thick. The trains were forced to stop. Right now, the areas in the forest bureaus of Jiada'erqi, Songling, Hanjiayuan and other areas are all suffering from caterpillar infestation. The government announced that the affected area is 25,000 hectares.

When the Jiang regime started its suppression of Falun Gong in 1999, they claimed that Falun Gong "would be eradicated in three months," and they sent out pamphlets defaming Falun Gong to various heads of state. Nine months later, after most democratic countries had a chance to learn the truth about Falun Gong, none of the nations' leaders seemed to believe Jiang's slander. Jiang's fear of Falun Gong was seen during the Millennium Summit of the United Nations in New York and during his visit to Germany. The recent Iceland incident has also illuminated his hysteria and frenzy.

The evil cannot contain us in jails because we are the students of our Teacher. I went to Tiananmen to validate Falun Dafa. After I was arrested, I sent forth righteous thoughts continuously, and I was released soon after. After that tribulation, I enlightened that cultivation is about belief. One cannot be distracted by appearances and ordinary thinking. One must belief in Dafa, believe in Teacher and have righteous thoughts.

Shortly after a grandfather started to practice Falun Dafa, he saw beautiful scenes from other dimensions, and his illnesses disappeared. Under tremendous pressure from the government, the grandfather was so scared that he stopped practicing and studying Falun Dafa due to his attachments, although he knew that it was good. After witnessing his loved ones being persecuted for practicing Falun Dafa, he suffered a mental collapse and eventually died.

The Political and Judiciary Committee and the "610 Office" of Yingyang City have persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners: many have been sent to forced labor camps, tortured, and kidnapped to brainwashing classes. Even a 70-year-old man who had a fever was abducted and taken to a detention center.

On June 12, practitioners from Hong Kong gathered at Charter Park to appeal for the release of two Hong Kong practitioners who had been detained by Chinese police last May; the practitioners also appealed for Zhu Keming, who was arrested a year ago. They appealed to the Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Zone (SAR) to safeguard the rule of law and human rights in Hong Kong and to help establish a good future for the Hong Kong people.

The Chinese authorities detained two Hong Kong practitioners in China during this past May for carrying Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. They are still being detained and their families are not allowed to visit them. Their families and Hong Kong practitioners are appealing to the government of Hong Kong SAR and to kind-hearted people to help rescue the two practitioners.

KYW Radio of Philadelphia, United States, reported on June 6th that a photo exhibit documenting the persecution of Falun Gong in China is on display in the old town section of Philadelphia.

On the morning of June 11, San Francisco City Council member Chris Daly (6^th District), testified at the U.S. Congress in Washington, DC, further exposing that Jiang's regime has extended its persecution overseas and is trying to directly interfere with the daily operations of U.S. governments. The same day at 2 PM, San Francisco Bay Area Falun Gong practitioners held a press conference in front of the Chinese Consulate, supporting Mr. Daly's actions. Reporters from five local news media came and reported the press conference.

A German practitioner: I decided to represent Falun Dafa at an exhibition that was held at the end of May. The host was very supportive of Falun Dafa, and I received a discount on our booth fee. Many practitioners came to help me. Not many people came to our booth on the first day, but we were not disappointed. Many people came to visit us on the second day. We distributed all the Falun Dafa materials we had brought. A woman who participated in the exhibition even asked us for an exercise videotape.

I am an overseas Falun Dafa practitioner who obtained the Fa seven months ago. When I went to a local women's prison to introduce Falun Dafa, many people spoke negatively. I concentrated on the exercises and sent forth righteous thoughts; I could feel a giant Falun spinning. Then, many people started to learn. On another occasion, we went to a living area for Chinese workers. We distributed truth-clarifying VCDs and continually sent forth righteous thoughts. The Chinese people in charge were at first opposed to us distributing materials, but they later agreed to our doing so. Many Chinese people asked for materials before we left.

Dafa practitioners in Delaware, USA, actively participated in local events to bring the goodness of Falun Dafa to their local community. After attending two health expos held during the end of April, they held an exhibition called the "Journey of Fa-rectification" in May. In the beginning of June they participated in the festive "Newark Night." The city of Wilmington has invited the practitioners to attend another local festival in August.

• Scientific Discovery

Fossils of prehistoric human being that are approximately 20,000 years old were recently discovered in Tibet. This surprised scientists throughout the world: the scientific community had believed that glaciers had covered Tibet prior to and during this period. They did not believe that ancient human beings could have lived there.

Scientists recently found large deposits of frozen water on Mars; scientists are now offering theoretical explanations of how seas and lakes disappeared on that planet. As the climate on Mars cooled down, large amounts of water froze on the surface of the two poles.
