1. [Hunan Province] Police Brutally Torture Practitioner Shu Wanguo And Zhang Yaqin for Their Truth Clarifying Activities

On February 6, 2002, while the practitioner couple Shu Wanguo and Zhang Yaqin was distributing truth-clarifying fliers in Shifeng District, Zhuzhou City, police from the Tongwan Police Station arrested them. The two practitioners are currently being held in Shifeng Police Sub-department, where they are brutally beaten and tortured. They are both in critical condition now.

2. [Beijing] A Practitioner from Qinghua University Illegally Detained for Publishing A "Solemn Statement"

Practitioner Wang Jiuchun (female) is a former Falun Gong assistant at Qinghua University. After Wang published a "solemn statement," some officials of the university had a talk with her. Because she said she would firmly stick to her belief during the talk, the No. 14 Division of Beijing Police Department arrested her at her home on February 11, 2002. Wang has been detained ever since, and her family members were recently coerced into paying 1000 Yuan [Chinese dollar. The average monthly salary of an urban worker in China is about 500 Yuan.].

3. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Several Practitioners Illegally Arrested for Practicing And Sending Forth Righteous Thoughts

In April 2002, several practitioners practiced Falun Gong movements and sent forth righteous thoughts in Tianfu Square (in downtown Chengdu City). The practitioners were illegally arrested.

4. [Liaoning Province] A Practitioner Illegally Sent to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

Practitioner Liu Guijuan (female) was a worker at the Lianshan District Chemical Plant in Huludao City, Liaoning Province. For validating Dafa in Beijing, Liu was fired by her work unit. On the night of April 14, 2002, Liu Guijuan risked her life and went to a residential area of the chemical plant to wipe out some propaganda materials that slandered Dafa. She also posted some truth-clarifying materials at the same time. A young man illegally arrested her on the spot, and then Liu was sent to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp without any trial.

5. [Yuanshi County, Hebei Province] Yuanshi County Detention Center Illegally Detains and Tortures Dafa Practitioners

In Yuanshi County Detention Center, some practitioners have been illegally detained for prolonged periods of time. The 15-day administrative detention period has been extended to as long as 2 years without any legal basis or procedure. The persecutors detain practitioners together with other inmates, curse and beat them, and use electric batons to torture them. They also tie practitioners' arms up behind their backs (a very cruel torture), force feed those on hunger strikes, break off their teeth, torture them with various instruments, and give them injections of unknown medication. Practitioners are not allowed visits from their family members.

As of now, two practitioners are still being detained there. One of them is Zhang Liping, a 33 year-old male who lives in Dongzhang Village. On August 1, 2000, Zhang was arrested from his home. The perpetrators have been illegally detaining him since then, using the fact that Zhang refuses to write a "guarantee letter" as an excuse. The other practitioner is Zhang Qingxi, a 44-year-old female from Quancun Village. She was arrested on September 20, 2000 for distributing truth-clarifying fliers. The number of practitioners detained in this detention center was close to 90 at one point, and most of the detained practitioners have been coerced into paying money.

6. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Jinzhou District Police Arrest And Persecute Practitioners Around April 25

The police in Jinzhou District, Dalian City arrested over 30 practitioners on April 23 and 24, 2002. The arrested practitioners went on a hunger strike to protest their persecution. On the morning of April 26, sixteen of the arrested practitioners were sent to a forced labor camp. Currently, four or five practitioners are still on a hunger strike.

The police stations in Jinzhou District have made lists of practitioners they plan to arrest, and they team up with the street community offices to intensively persecute those "important" practitioners for a month.

We call for practitioners to continue sending forth righteous thoughts firmly, completely eliminate the evil, and take righteous paths in their cultivation.

7. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Hou Chunli And Yu Cuilian Illegally Sent to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp (continued)

After protesting with a 2-month hunger strike during his/her detention in Sanli Prison (in Jinzhou District), practitioner Hou Chunli was sent to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. Hou's family members were only informed afterwards.

Yu Cuilian is a female practitioner in her 60s, who lives in the developing area of Dalian City. The police arrested her and detained her in Yaojia Detention Center, and then illegally sentenced her to 3 years in a forced labor camp. She is now in Masanjia labor camp.

8. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Police Arrest Practitioners And Use Violence on An Elderly Lady

On the morning of April 27, while practitioner Luan Diancheng was helping his/her mother pack up her booth after a morning farmer's market, a few plain clothed police officers arrested Luan for no reason. Luan's mother tried to reason with them, yet they crazily restrained the old lady's neck so that she was not able to talk. The persecutors then took Luan away under the stares of the people around. Later on, Luan's family members learned that the people who abducted Luan were police from Youyilu Police Station.

On the day of Luan's arrest, practitioner Wang Yongqi (60 years old from Baitiejiang Village) was also arrested from home and sent to a detention center.
