On the night of September 23, 2001, five policemen took me from home and forcibly sent me to a brainwashing class. I thought that we Dafa practitioners shouldn't be detained in a brainwashing class, which is like a cesspit. My mission is to assist Teacher in Fa-rectification and to save people, so I must walk out of here. But how can I get out of here? I was locked in a room, in which two young men watched and followed me closely. The windows were covered with iron bars. Two policemen were stationed at the entrance to the stairway. In the current Fa-rectification process, Teacher has already opened Dafa practitioners' divine powers and given us the Fa-rectification verse, so I would use righteous thoughts and walk out of the brainwashing class. Having understood the Fa principles, I firmly believed that I must be able to walk out of the brainwashing class with righteous thoughts.

The next morning, Dafa practitioners were told that if we broke the rules, we would be punished (by having our hands cuffed behind our backs or being confined in a solitary cell, etc.) Then came the officials from the Procurators' Department and the "610 Office" [a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches]. Teacher has said, "No matter what the situation, do not cooperate with the evil's demands, orders, or what it instigates" ("Dafa Disciples' Righteous Thoughts are Powerful"). Consequently, I protested their brutal actions as soon as I was detained. They were very dissatisfied with me and said, "Young man, if you treat us in such a manner, we'll send you directly to the forced labor camp." I said immediately, "Don't you mean that you are going to torture me to death? I have let go of life and death long time ago since I cultivated Falun Dafa. I was not afraid of death even when I stepped on the Tiananmen Tower to validate Dafa. If I die, it is definitely because of your torture and not suicide [after they torture practitioners to death, the police often cover up the truth and evade responsibility by stating that the practitioners died in jail as a result of suicide]. If you torture me, you'll receive retribution. It is the truth of the universe that good will be rewarded with good, and evil met with evil. Now, in many places all over the country, numerous policemen who have persecuted Dafa practitioners have suddenly died, one after another." My words were very severe and demonstrated Dafa practitioners' dignity. "One righteous mind can subdue one hundred evils." They all kept silent. Teacher said, "Indestructible righteous faith in the cosmos's Truth forms benevolent Dafa disciples' rock-solid, Diamond-Like Bodies, it frightens all evil, and the light of Truth it emanates makes the unrighteous elements in all beings' thoughts disintegrate. However strong the righteous thoughts are, that's how great the power is" ("Also in a Few Words").

They all stopped talking. Then I tried to awaken their good side and said to them, "You five policemen forcibly took me from my home. I have a 70-year-old mother, a four-year-old son, and a virtuous wife. When you arrested me, my mother cried, my son cried and asked for his daddy, and my wife also cried. What crime have I committed? I cultivate 'Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance,' try to be a person with dignified morality, and also be disciplined and law-abiding. I wonder what kind of person you want to reform me into? Don't you have family? Do you even oppose 'Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance?'"

None of them opposed "Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance," and they all knew that the principles were good. The head of the "610 Office" patted my shoulder and said, "Young man, why lose your temper? I know that you are all good people. We have to do it based on instructions from the higher authorities. How about you cooperate with our work and write 'I'll stop practicing.' Then you may go back home to take care of your mother and your son?" I knew clearly that everything of mine is formed by Dafa and is the most righteous, and it can only be that I rectify everything that is not righteous. How could I bow to the evil? Seeing my unshakable determination, they all left dejectedly, one after another.

In the room, the two young people watched me. I thought, "I must walk out of the brainwashing class today. Teacher, please help me." But something human also came out. "What shall I do if I fail to walk out and then I get arrested?" As soon as this idea flashed in my mind, I realized that it was interference from my acquired thoughts and karma. I remembered in "Teaching the Fa at the 2001 Canada Fa Conference" Teacher said, "... thinking about eliminating the bad thoughts, karma, bad notions, and external interference in their minds. As you're like this, think that they die, and then they will be eliminated." When the thought "if I am arrested" flashed in my mind, I held it tightly and eliminated it. The Fa is powerful, so whatever I do would certainly succeed. Teacher said, "It is extremely dangerous to add anything human to cultivation practice" ("Digging Out the Roots"). At critical moments, "Your Main Consciousness Should Predominate" and "Your Mind Must be Right." After I rectified myself, I believed that I must be able to get out of the brainwashing class.

When I went to eat with them at noon, I clarified the truth to the two young men who had been watching me. They also knew that I was a good person. But it was their work, so they had to keep me under tight surveillance. In the afternoon I sent forth powerful righteous thoughts once again to eliminate all the evil in the brainwashing class. I thought I must be able to walk out of the brainwashing class, and I asked for help from Teacher. Around 5 p.m. one man's cell phone rang. His family had an urgent matter and asked him to come home. Only one young man was left. At about 6 p.m., I came out of the dining hall after having dinner with him. There were two policemen on duty at the entrance of the building. I sat on a chair beside them, and the young man sat down next to me. I thought that it would be good if these two policemen entered the building. Only 3 seconds after that thought, those two policemen went into the building. Then I thought it would be perfect if this young man moved. Right after that thought, the young man could no longer sit there. He asked me to go with him to the boiler room to get some water. Ten meters away from the boiler room I said to him, "You get the boiling water by yourself. I'll wait here." He was completely restrained by me and went to get the water without even turning his head.

At that moment I hesitated as to whether I should go or not. Suddenly the words "Why wait and not go now?" appeared in my mind. I ran rapidly out of the gate and came to the road where I stopped a young man who was riding a motorcycle. In this way I successfully walked out of the brainwashing class where I had been detained for only 20 hours.

Now is the time to resist the persecution, assist Teacher in Fa-rectification, and eliminate the evil. We should repel the persecution and force it on the evil ones. I walked out of the brainwashing class, which frightened the evil. They were all thrown into a panic, and looked everywhere for me. However, I had regained my freedom and re-joined the current of Fa-rectification. I had returned with incredible speed. I heard that the vicious people were stationed in my home for seven days and nights.

After I calmed my mind, I summarized why my thoughts would produce such an effect. I remembered Teacher said, "If a cultivator can let go of the thought of life and death under any circumstance, evil is sure to be afraid of him. If every student is able to do this, evil will of itself no longer exist" (From "Eliminate Your Last Attachment(s)."). In the article "What are Supernormal Abilities" Teacher said, "For instance, while doing Fa-rectification, when the righteous thoughts are very pure, their supernormal abilities are comprehensively utilized. Moreover, with righteous thoughts many disciples are able to use them at will." Teacher also said, "An inadequate state of mind -- such as fearing the evil, wavering in your thoughts when you use your supernormal abilities, or doubting whether they will work -- can affect or interfere with the outcome of the supernormal abilities." Facing the evil's threat, I nobly and righteously let go of life and death, which had frightened the evil. "One righteous mind can subdue one hundred evils." That's why my righteous thoughts had such an effect. Of course something human also came out. But I thought of myself as a great God and meanwhile eliminated human notions. I have deeply realized that, at critical moments, our main consciousness should predominate, and our mind must be right. We think of ourselves as great Gods at every moment. Then we'll truly experience "... however strong the righteous thoughts are, that's how great the power is" ("Also in a Few Words").
