1. [Beijing] Falun Dafa Practitioners Rectify the Fa in Tiananmen Square

On April 2, 2002, at 12:50 p.m., on the north side of Tiananmen Square, beside the Jingshui Bridge, police dragged a female practitioner about 40 years old into a police car. At the same time, a pretty young girl and a 60-year-old lady were also forced into the car.

Beside the Jingshui Bridge, a young policeman, whose code is 051602, examined the tourists as they passed by. He questioned a 40-year-old lady and she answered, "Zhen, Shan, Ren (Truth, Compassion, Tolerance) is good. It is not wrong to behave according to the principles of Zhen-Shan-Ren." Because this woman spoke the truth, the police started to drag her to a police car.

All of the tourists observed this brutal and unwarranted action, so the policeman yelled to them, "What are you looking at? Are you with her?" But actually, he became fearful and his actions became less forceful. At this time, another policeman jumped out and punched the female practitioner to the ground, shook her head and dragged her into the car.

He yelled to the people standing around, "Why are you watching? If you step forward I will take you with her!" At this time a girl raised her camera and wanted to take a picture of this savage scene. The policeman (051602) and the other policemen pounced on her and grabbed the camera. They opened the cap and damaged all of the pictures on the film, then dragged the girl into the police car.

Someone in the distance whispered, "They cannot allow you to record such shameful things!" Then the police pushed a 60-year-old lady into the car. The badge number of this policeman was No. 051826.

2. [Jiangsu Province] Practitioners in Wuxi City Detained for Two Months

On the second day of Spring Festival, at 6:00 p.m., several practitioners from Dongbeitang Town, Wuxi City, began to distribute truth-clarifying materials. However, they were reported and arrested by the police. At present, they have been detained in Dongting Detention Center in Wuxi for two months. Five or six practitioners were arrested, together with several practitioners from other towns. Dozens of practitioners were arrested in all. The photocopy machines and printers utilized to produce truth-clarifying materials were confiscated. A 60-year-old retired teacher was also arrested and later sentenced to one and a half years in jail because she printed Falun Dafa materials in the school.

Because of the pressures from the authorities in the province, police are doing a very strict examination. Anyone distributing materials will be arrested and the family members are not allowed to visit or call them. The policemen said, "If they only practice at home, and do not go to Tiananmen Square or distribute materials, we do not care." Everyone can see that the evil regime is very afraid of letting people know the truth.

3. [Shandong Province] Jinan "610 Office" Abducts Falun Dafa Practitioners

Once again, a brainwashing class is being conducted by the Jinan "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.] Some practitioners were abducted and sent to Liuchangshan Forced Labor Camp. Fellow practitioners, please send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil, abort the scheme and release all practitioners.

4. [Beijing] Changping Police use Tricks to Abduct Falun Dafa Practitioners

Practitioner Zhang Shurui, an over 40 female, lives in Dongying Village, Nanshao Town, Changping County, Beijing. She was sentenced to one year of forced labor because she insisted on practicing Falun Dafa and went to Beijing to appeal. In Xingan Forced Labor Camp, in Daxing, she refused to give up her belief, so the police tortured her both mentally and physically. The police beat her with electric batons until she lost consciousness and was in a coma for over ten hours. Police sent her to a concentration team and persecuted her. In 2001, she was released but she still persisted in cultivation. She has a younger brother who is paralyzed due to an injury and lives in Nanshao Rest Home. On April 2, 2002, the head of Nanshao Rest Home tricked Zhang into coming to the rest home under the pretense that she would be able to visit her brother. Upon her arrival, the police forcibly took her away, and her whereabouts are still unknown.

5. [Shandong Province] Police Persecute Falun Dafa Practitioners and Beat Up Their Family Members

In the early morning of February 9, 2002, Sergeant Wang from Haihua Development District brought three accomplices and suddenly broke into a residential building where a couple of Falun Dafa practitioners Zhang (female, 54 years old) and Liu (male, 56 years old) live. The couple were awakened by the noise and thought their neighbor was in trouble. So they got dressed and opened the door. Unexpectedly the police broke into their room. Wang headed the search and said that they wanted to search for a practitioner by the name of Lin (a practitioner who had been previously forced to become homeless to avoid capture.) Without any legal process, they searched the room and took away some Falun Dafa books, truth clarifying materials and some other property. Finally the police illegally took the couple to the police station and interrogated them, during which interrogation, Liu and Zhang kept peaceful minds and clarified the truth to the police. They pointed out that the police were doing bad things. After seven or eight hours of interrogation, the police had obtained nothing and became angry. They repeatedly kicked Liu in the chest and slapped his face. The police inflicted this violent abuse even though they all knew that Liu previously had suffered from stomach cancer. After cultivation of Falun Gong he became very healthy. The police beat this old man so mercilessly, that it appeared they wanted to kill him.

After the police became tired of beating the practitioners, they insisted that they wanted to send the two practitioners to a forced labor camp. They sent Zhang to the hospital for a physical examination. The hospital exam unexpectedly showed that she had some serious diseases. The police refused to accept this as a failure and tricked Liu's daughter into coming to the police station, by asking her work unit to send her. They attempted to persecute Liu's daughter through interrogation, but she refused to answer. Wang and Yang demonstrated their degenerate nature as they slapped Liu's face and kicked her to the ground. They pounced on her and continued to beat her, until Liu in the next room heard the cry of her daughter and rushed into the room to stop them. She said, "You are not allowed to hit people!" Not until then did the two policemen stop beating the daughter, only after their crime was exposed. Liu pointed out that the police are committing crimes while posing as those who should be upholding the law. Wang and Yang replied shamelessly, "Who hit your daughter? We did not do it." The face of Liu's daughter was beaten so badly that the inflammation did not disappear for several months.

On the twenty-eighth day of the twelvth month (lunar calendar) at 5:00 p.m., Liu and Zhang were sent back home. The police threatened that they would dispatch people to monitor them around the clock. On the same night, the homes of four to five other practitioners were also searched. All of the innocent practitioners were treated in a manner similar to Liu and Zhang.

The villainous actions of the police persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners and beating their family members has incurred strong sympathy from the local community. The local people said, "What kind of police are they? They are almost a gang of bandits!"

6. [Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Zhang Liyan Abducted by the Police

Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Liyan (female) of Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province was abducted on March 26 by vicious police officers from Xiaoyang Police Station while clarifying the truth of Falun Gong. She is currently held in custody at the municipal detention centre. We hope that fellow practitioners who have read this report send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil.

7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Pingfang District Authorities Use "Large Sum of Money" to Entice Villagers to Report Falun Gong Practitioners

In early March 2002, Pingxin Township in Pingfang District of Harbin City announced that anyone who reported Falun Gong practitioners to the police would receive a large cash reward from 8,000 to 10,000 Yuan. [The average monthly salary of an urban worker is about 500 yuan.] Cadres in Pingle Village followed closely the "spirit" of the township, and broadcast this "poisonous" announcement every day to misguide villagers. Pingxin Town has its own "homespun policy". Someone with the last name of Zhang in charge of leads on Falun Gong practitioners claimed that whoever informed the authorities of Falun Gong materials would receive 300 Yuan and who spotted a Falun Gong practitioner posting materials would receive 500 Yuan upon the capture of the practitioner.

8. [Zhongjiang County, Sichuan Province] Policewoman Xie Jiuzhou from Zhongjiang County Detention Center Receives Retribution for Being a Thug for Jiang and Luo Gan

Vicious policewoman Xie Jiuzhou of Zhongjiang County Detention Center in Sichuan Province has served as a thug for Jiang and Luo Gan since July 20, 1999. Xie Jiuzhou handcuffed and shackled Falun Dafa practitioner Li Fenyou, with arms and legs fully stretched out, onto a windowsill for several days and nights. The practitioner was forced to urinate and defecate on her own body. Xie beat the practitioner with police batons, taking only brief breaks to catch her breath before resuming the beating. On February 9, 2002, Xie Jiuzhou was assigned by the County Police Department to send two Falun Dafa practitioners to the Ziyang Forced Labor Camp in Sichuang Province. With righteous thoughts in mind, the two practitioners managed to escape en route. Xie was punished by being forced to take a leave of absence.

We hereby issue warnings to the guilty policemen in the No. 1 Section of Zhongjiang County Police Department-- Xu Zhicheng, You Zhonglin, Mao Xinwen, and the guilty policemen in the detention center, Wang Xingmin and Chen Yong: All your words and deeds of persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners have been recorded. To persecute those who embody kindness is not allowed by heaven and earth. To carry out evil deeds is to dig your own graves. Think about this seriously.

9. [Nong'an County, Jilin Province] Female Falun Dafa Practitioner in Kaian Township Abducted from Her Home in the Middle of the Night

At the end of March 2002, Zhang Yu, the chief of the police station, and other police officers persecuted female Falun Dafa practitioner Zhao from Kaian Township of Nong'an County. The policemen held Falun Gong books, claiming that these books were found in Zhao's home. They wanted to take her away from her home in the middle of the night. Zhao refused to cooperate. They didn't allow her to put on any clothes other than her underwear. Four policemen dragged her out of her home. We hope that Falun Dafa practitioners will send forth righteous thoughts to help this fellow practitioner.
