My name is Andre Huber. I am 22 years old, and am completing the last year of my training as an educator. I live in the Schopfheim-Langenau, District of Loerrach/Black Forest area. I will go to Tiananmen Square to hold up a banner that says "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance."
These three words represent Falun Gong, its three highest principles. I have practiced Falun Gong for almost three years and have during this time tried to assimilate to those three words.
For the past 2-1/2 years, during which time 371 Falun Gong practitioners in China have been tortured to death, I have attempted to bring these three words closer to people in my surroundings and also tell them about the persecution in China.
I have distributed flyers, written letters and organized photo exhibitions. Not one person with whom I have ever spoken about these things has found anything bad to say about them. On the contrary, values such as honesty, kindness and tolerance are all things everyone in society longs for, but they can rarely be found. Everyone is aware that the world around them is becoming more rough and everyone also notices that we need those three words now, more than ever before.
But why is it that the people living in China who stand for these values are being killed? Is it proper to be persecuted, raped and tortured for those values? I have come to the conclusion that we have silently accepted the facts of torture and the bad in people around the world. One comes to grips with the bad and calmly tolerates it. As a Falun Gong practitioner I cannot on the one hand say that I am living by the three principles [Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance] and on the other hand sit idly by when these injustices are being perpetrated.
I am not an enemy of China, and I am not attempting this out of a momentary whim or from a certain political standpoint. I am going because I am convinced deep in my heart that Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance must not be persecuted and suppressed, not anywhere in the world, not even in China, [a country] so far away from where I live.
I hope that through my actions even more people will discover the truth about Falun Gong and its persecution.
