A comprehensive story in the "China Times" on February 15, 2002, reported that three Falun Gong practitioners had participated in an appeal in Tiananmen Square and were now returning to Los Angeles with cuts and bruises. They were received with warm welcomes at the airport by over twenty Falun Gong practitioners. Mark Gardner from Orange County had been beaten and showed a large bruise covering one eye. He told how some practitioners were returning home with torn clothes and some without shoes. These western practitioners emphasized that the killing of Falun Gong practitioners in China is not a China issue. It is a world issue.

Three German newspapers which have the largest volume of issue distribution, all covered the story of the recent Tiananmen appeal in a prime space of the newspaper. The articles reported how the forty western Falun Gong practitioners were arrested during the peaceful appeal at Tiananmen Square. This was the largest peaceful Tiananmen Square appeal by western practitioners. Those returning from the appeal told the reporters that, "We want to tell the Chinese people and world's people about the persecution that Falun Gong has received."

The German News Agency reported on February 16, 2002, that the Beijing police was still detaining a German Falun Gong practitioner who was one of those in the peaceful February 14 Tiananmen Square appeal. The practitioner's mother and spokesperson of German Falun Gong confirmed the report. The German embassy in Beijing is trying to find out the whereabouts of the German citizen, from the south of Germany. The other seven German practitioners, who had also participated, returned to Frankfurt on Friday.

In the afternoon of February 15, practitioners in Stockholm held a press conference in Eastern City Square where they called for help to rescue three Swedish practitioners who are still detained in China.

Practitioners in Scotland did group exercises outside the Chinese consulate in Edinburgh to support British practitioners who went to Beijing to appeal.
