(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa organizations at Taiwan University joined others to hold a press conference in Alumni Hall on September 26 2002. The purpose was to declare their opinions about the Chinese government's accusation that Taiwan Falun Gong practitioners were involved in SINOSAT signal hijacking. China's claim gained wide attention among the Taiwanese people. The practitioners also called on all kindhearted people of the world to learn the truth and stop the persecution.
The press conference was hosted by Economics professor Chang Ching-Chi, the Director of the Falun Dafa Association of Taiwan. Many professors and students attended the conference, including the Director of Politics Department, Professor Ming Chu-Cheng, the Director of the Institute of News Research, Professor Chang Ching-Hua, Professor of Law Mr. Hsieh Ming-Yang, Secretary of the Science College Mr. Dai Jui-Peng, and many graduate and undergraduate students. Member of the Legislative Committee, Mr. Chen Mao-Nan, who spoke in support of Falun Dafa on Capitol Hill in Washington DC in July, also came to show his support.

Professor Chang Ching-Chi pointed out that Taiwan's Falun Gong practitioners have no knowledge that any Taiwan practitioners were involved in this matter. The Chinese government still hasn't publicized the content of the program broadcast by the satellite. China accused Taiwan without any evidence. This only shows the world how rude and unreasonable China is. China (Jiang's Regime) has persecuted Falun Gong for over three years with all kinds of lies and slander, but Falun Gong practitioners have no place to speak. A ten minute video program, the "Truth of the Staged Immolation" would disclose all the lies.
Professor Chang said that information collected from the Internet showed that the alleged pirate broadcast on SINOSAT was, "Jiang Zemin Betrayed China". The organizers played the two video programs at the press conference.
Professor Ming Chu-Cheng stated that it was shocking and unreasonable that the Chinese Communist Party wanted to bring Falun Gong into the relationship between two sides of the strait. Falun Gong is cultivation practice, and it is not related to politics. He thought the Jiang's regime's accusations with respect to Falun Gong and politics was rude and unreasonable.
Professor Hsieh of the Law School said Falun Gong is an exercise that emphasizes peace and morality. It has nothing to do with politics, personal interest and gain. It only requests a peaceful place to practice. The signal hijacking actually showed that people are tired of the lies. China should look into itself for the wrong doings of covering up the truth.
Some Taiwan University students also spoke up about their experiences at the press conference. Doctoral student Wu talked about students at Qinghua and Beijing University being persecuted and tortured to death because of practicing Falun Gong.
Other students talked about the people in China who were poisoned by the Jiang regime's slanders and lies.
In the end, professor Chang Ching-Hua drew this conclusion: She said China closed all the channels through which Falun Gong practitioners can appeal. The result of appealing in China is to be detained, tortured, sent to forced labor camps, having your home ransacked and property confiscated, and having all family members receive punishment. It is Jiang's regime that has deprived peoples' rights. How can it label the people's peaceful protest illegal? It is just like if your neighbor's house was on fire and she cried out for help, would you blame her for interrupting your watching TV?
