From 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on January 14, 2002, Israel Falun Dafa practitioners gathered and had a peaceful appeal in front of Chinese Embassy in Tel Aviv.
Due to the pressure from the Chinese Embassy toward the Israeli Foreign Ministry, the Tel Aviv Police Department refused to issue us a permit numerous times, for our peaceful appeal in front of the Chinese Embassy. Later some practitioners found a solution by applying the Israeli law with their wisdom and brought up the fact that any peaceful appeal of fewer than 50 people does not require a permit. The Police then agreed to permit us to appeal for 30 minutes after two practitioners explained this issue to them.
At 2:00 p.m., the practitioners arrived at the Chinese embassy. Photographers from the Jerusalem Post and reporters from a local radio broadcasting station covered the event. The reporters interviewed practitioner Xing, whose sister was arrested in Beijing for clarifying the truth a few days ago. The young Israeli man Leeshai Lemish, who participated in the peaceful appeal at Tiananmen Square this past November, participated in the activity. During the interview, Xing and Leeshai both read their letters to the Chinese ambassador requesting an end to the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners and the release of Xing's sister. Later other practitioners walked across the street to hand over the letters of appeal to the ambassador and were told that the ambassador was in a meeting and would not be available until 3:30 p.m. The practitioners decided to wait until 3:30 p.m. As expected, the ambassador refused to accept the letters at 3:30 p.m. and a staffmember of the embassy behaved in a rude manner.
