News Release
Falun Gong practitioners are embarking on a Canada-wide "SOS! Urgent: Rescue the Falun Gong Practitioners Persecuted in China" tour. They will drive and fly to cities and towns in all provinces and Territories in Canada in the months of August and September to raise awareness and gather support.
They will gather signatures asking the Canadian government to help release the husband of a Canadian citizen Jinyu Li who has been suffering in a Chinese labour camp for the last 18 months, to help rescue practitioners persecuted in China and ask the government to coordinate a rescue team for international investigation into the persecution in China.
They plan to introduce the peaceful exercises of Falun Gong and give Canadians the opportunity to help save the lives of innocent men, women and children who face torture and death for their peaceful belief in Falun Gong.
This 'SOS' tour is part of a global "SOS! Urgent: Rescue Falun Gong Practitioners Persecuted in China," campaign which includes countries such as Australia, the United States, Germany, UK, Sweden, and more.
About Falun Gong and the Persecution in China
Falun Gong is a spiritual practice that focuses on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance incorporating meditation and exercises. Falun Gong is enjoyed and respected by millions in over 40 countries around the world.
In 1992 Falun Gong spread across China faster than any other spiritual teaching in history. It was awarded and praised by the Chinese Government and media for many years for the benefits it brought to individuals and society.
In 1999, a Chinese Government survey showed that, in China alone, Falun Gong had amassed over 70 million followers in less than 7 years! After this survey President Jiang Zemin ordered a crackdown on Falun Gong practitioners. In the past 2 years thousands of men, women and children have been beaten and tortured and hundreds have died in police custody.
