[Minghui Net]
On July 2, 2001, Minghui Net learned from family members of the victims that massive persecution with cruel instruments of torture had taken place in the Wanjia Labor Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, China.
In just this one labor camp, fifteen female Falun Gong practitioners were tortured to death. The same day these deaths occurred, Chinese authorities blocked all the news sources. Chinese authorities then claimed a "group suicide" had occurred at the Wanjia Labor Camp after the news was released on Minghui Net. According to a report from the Washington Post, a provincial judicial official stated that eleven female Falun Gong practitioners attempted to commit suicide by hanging themselves from their bunk beds, but only three died. In a report from UPI, however, the same official said that 25 female practitioners had attempted to commit suicide, but only eleven died. He also added that guards were not watching the women when they attempted to kill themselves.
Jiang Zemin and his followers are committing crimes utilizing the Chinese government. In the last two years, they have operated a nationwide law-overriding organization called the "610" office. Its confidential orders were to, "Destroy their reputations, cut them off financially, and eradicate them physically." The orders included, "Beating them to death is counted as a suicide, no need [for their families] to identify the bodies, and cremate them directly," and they were ordered to continuously intensify the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. These orders are used by policemen in labor camps as criteria to see if the persecution toward local Falun Gong was at "full strength."
This kind of well-defined, targeted, and systematic persecution toward Falun Gong utilizes the "610" offices all over the country, and is backed by the entire nation's totalitarian infrastructure. They have not considered the ultimate effects of this and have therefore openly rejected and savagely trampled upon fundamental human rights, modern civilization, the judicial system, and human morality.
Since June, the number of Falun Gong practitioners tortured to death has grown at an alarming rate. Within one month, it was reported that about fifty Falun Gong practitioners were tortured to death in police custody or as a result of police torture, bringing the total to at least 250. Among those killed, policemen in Baiguo Township (Macheng City, Hubei Province) burned a practitioner alive, and chained two others behind motorcycles, dragging them to their death. This resulted in the deaths of four that day alone.
After the tragedy of the Wanjia Labor Camp was revealed, within three days, from July 3 to July 5, the reported number of deaths increased by another five. All those disclosed, however, were only those that managed to penetrate the strict information blockade created by the Chinese government. Thus, these numbers are only the tip of the iceberg.
The police whose orders are to "Destroy their reputations, cut them off financially, and eradicate them physically" and whose orders include, "Beating them to death is counted as a suicide, no need [for their families] to identify the bodies, and cremate them directly," are still carrying them out in China. Jiang Zemin and his criminal followers have lost all sense of their humanity.
We hereby urgently appeal to kindhearted people all over the world: Join our effort of rescuing Falun Gong practitioners persecuted in China. Stop the massacre in China and stop Jiang Zemin and his cohorts who are abusing the power of the government to commit criminal acts.
It is time for the world to take urgent action to rescue those being persecuted.
