On June 9, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Falun Dafa practitioners in northern Anhui Province sent forth righteous thoughts together: "Eradicate the evil force behind Office 610 [the office in charge of cracking down on Falun Gong], release all the illegally detained Falun Dafa practitioners." Soon afterwards, all the Falun Dafa practitioners who had been illegally brainwashed in the "study class" were released unconditionally.

2. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Public Security Bureau Persecutes Falun Dafa Practitioners Using Special Agents

The Public Security Bureau of Jilin City used special agent Fu Chen, disguised as a Falun Dafa practitioner, to identify Falun Dafa practitioners everywhere. Since the beginning of the year 2001 when the public security bureau started to persecute Falun Gong, several dozen Falun Dafa practitioners were arrested because of Fu Chen. At the end of April, several people along with Fu Chen arrested Falun Dafa practitioner Fang Siyi. Fang Siyi went on a hunger strike to protest. On the sixth day of the hunger strike, the persecutors tied Fang up and forcibly gave him injections of Valium and other medicines, causing vein sclerosis in his left leg. Fang's legs are now crippled. He continued his hunger strike for nearly one month, and firmly resisted the evil force. The hoodlums had no choice but to transfer Fang to the Third Detention Center of Jilin City. Since Fang could not walk, others had to carry him back and forth for the interrogation. Later, Fang's leg swelled severely, and he also contracted ileitus and tympanites. Fang's life was in danger, and thus Fang was sent to No. 222 hospital for medical inspection. The inspection revealed that Fang's intestines were obstructed, and he only had a few days left to live. Thus, the hoodlums reluctantly released Fang. 5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] News of the Illegal Brainwashing Class

The agriculture school library of Changchun City, located in the small town of Xinglongshan in Changchun City, is the base of the illegal brainwashing classes. This school is in a remote, almost isolated place.

Fifty-six Falun Dafa practitioners are presently illegally detained in the eight rooms on the first floor of this library, and more practitioners are being sent in. Offices and meeting rooms of the "reform" staff of the Judicial Department are located on the second floor. Slogans slandering Falun Dafa are posted in the corridor.

The Falun Dafa practitioners detained in this base are all isolated from the outside world, and are forbidden to come and go through the rooms at will. It is said that the practitioners illegally detained here include university professors, teachers of the middle school associated with Northeast Normal University, and elementary and middle school teachers from various districts.

The security measures carried out on the base are tight. The window of the reception room is equipped with the iron wires, and the front door is reinforced with iron chains which are about five centimeters in diameter. Approximately six security personell guard the first floor.

Here, Falun Dafa practitioners cannot access Falun Dafa books; even the incoming baggage must be inspected. The practitioners' conversations with their fellow workers are also monitored. Falun Dafa practitioners are not allowed to walk around to different rooms. All of them are numbered and are forced to put on white labels with the words "Falun Gong reformed person." They are not allowed to even answer phone calls from their relatives.

6. [Huanan Forestry Bureau, Heilongjiang Province] Brutal Torture of Falun Dafa Practitioners Escalates

On March 14, 2001, Minghui Net reported that Huanan Forestry Bureau illegally detained Falun Dafa practitioners. They have been detained for nearly 5 months

1. Xia Zhiliang (male), 36 years old and his wife, Zhao Xiangli, 35 years old, went to Beijing to validate Dafa and clarify the truth on February 7, 2001. They were arrested on March 17 and escorted back to their residential district.
2. Cheng Shujie, male, 34 years old went to Beijing to validate Dafa on February 7, 2001 and was restrained from his home.
3. Sui Faxue, female, 30 years old went to Beijing to validate Dafa on February 7, 2001 and was restrained from her home.
4. Guo Guanglin, female, 34 years old went to Beijing on February 7, 2001. She and Guo Ren'ai disappeared on April 8 while clarifying the truth. Their whereabouts are unknown.
5. Chen Guoqing, 39 years old, went to Beijing on February 7, 2001 to validate Dafa and clarify the truth. He was arrested on March 13 and escorted back to the local police station.
6. Zhang Yajie, 38 years old, went to Tiananmen Square on February 13, 2001 to validate Dafa and was arrested and escorted back.
7. Wang Zhongying, 29 years old, went to Tiananmen Square to validate Dafa on February 13, 2001, was arrested and escorted back .
8. Gao Xu, male, 33 years old, his wife Chen Fazhi, 30 years old, Zhu Fuxiang, 44 years old, Zhang Guifen, 43 years old and Lu Guangbo, 39 years old went to Beijing to validate Dafa and clarify the truth. Police intercepted them while they were on the way and escorted them back.

On May 23, 2001, police sentenced eight of those listed above to one and a half years, three to one year of forced labor re-education, and another two were kept in custody. On May 24, 2001, the police detained Dafa practitioner Xu Zhaoqi, 72 years old, Han Fengyun, 51 years old, Sun Guimei, 36 years old, Su Fengxian, 57 years old, Shi Xiaolan, 41 years old for no reason and were released after 2 days in custody. The secretary of XX Party Committee of Huanan Forestry Bureau, Zhao Yingmin, and the deputy director of police station (in charge of persecuting Falun Gong), Jia Shouhui deceived some of the practitioners in custody. They used devious tactics to convince them to write guarantee letters to stop practicing Falun Gong and to have them show up on TV with a promise to release them later. On the contrary, they sentenced the practitioners to forced labor camp after that. Their means of persecuting Dafa practitioners are base and wicked. My name is Liu Jinfeng (female), 40 years old, from Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province. I went to Beijing to appeal in November 1999. I was arrested and sentenced to three years of labor camp. Under mandatory brainwashing and brutal torture, I lowered myself by writing a "repentance letter," after which I was released.

Upon returning home, I studied Dafa carefully, and with the help of fellow practitioners, I realized my serious mistake. Seeing those repentant people become the spies of police and persecute Dafa practitioners, I felt very sad. I am determined to resume practicing Falun Dafa. The traitors reported my change to the police, resulting in my arrest. It was snowing heavily and freezing that day. The police handcuffed me for 48 hours and interrogated me. Those ruffians even turned on cold air to torture me, which made me shiver. My feet froze and I was unable to walk. Afterwards, they detained me in a detention center. After 8 days, they again tricked me and sent me to the labor camp. They lied to me by saying that they needed my help to look for a person in the camp. I believed them and followed them there. Not until I arrived at the labor camp did I realize that they tricked me. Unexpectedly, they laughed at me and said, "Falun Gong practitioners are too gullible. They believe what we say even now. Where is the truth nowadays?"

Police illegally sentenced them to 4 years of forced labor re-education and sent them to Daxing County.

In addition, police illegally took away Wu Yueping's husband, Bian Jian, a Falun Dafa practitioner, in June 2000 and sentenced him to 18 months of forced labor re-education. Bian Jian's mother, who is over 70 years old, is left at home to live with only her 12-year-old granddaughter.

1. Wang Ailing, female, went to Beijing to validate Falun Dafa many times since 1999 and was detained many times for a total of over 150 days. She was also fined more than 5,000 Yuan [about one year's income for an average urban worker] and each time, she was not released until she went on a hunger strike and her health was in critical condition. In December 2000, she went to Beijing to validate Falun Dafa and was detained. She went on a hunger strike. During that time, her blood pressure reached as high as 290 and her heartbeat reached 150 times per minute. However, she was not released until her whole body became swollen. She passed away a little more than a month later.
2. Yi Weiping, male, went to Beijing many times to validate Falun Dafa since 1999 and was detained many times for a total of over 170 days. He was fined over 10,000 Yuan [about two years' income for an average urban worker]. He was not released each time until he went on a hunger strike and his health was in critical condition.
3. Bai Yinglian, female, went to Beijing many times to validate Falun Dafa since 1999 and was detained many times for a total of over 170 days. She was fined over 10,000 Yuan. Each time, she was not released until she went on a hunger strike and her health was in critical condition. In April 2001, police ransacked her home, forcibly took away her color TV, dual stack cassette player, telephone and about 200 Yuan cash. The police were from Xinhua Street Police Substation, Zhangjiakou City, and they acted like thieves by entering her home by prying open the door in broad daylight.
4. Liu Hejun, male, was detained over 50 days for practicing Falun Gong exercises in the People's Park in August 1999 and was fined over 3,000 Yuan. Later, he went to Beijing many times to validate Falun Dafa and was detained for over 100 days. He was sentenced to three years of forced labor education in December 2000 and is now detained in Gaoyang Labor Camp, Baoding City, Hebei Province.
5. He Huajun, male, was detained over 50 days for practicing Falun Gong exercises in the People's Park in August 1999 and was fined over 3,000 Yuan. Later, he went to Beijing many times to validate Falun Dafa and was detained illegally for one month. He was sentenced to one year of forced labor education in October 2000 and is detained in Tangshan Forced Labor Camp, Tangshan City, Hebei Province.
6. Fan Yaxiong, female, went to Beijing many times to validate Falun Dafa since January 2000 and was detained many times for a total of over 60 days. She was fined over 12,000 Yuan and was forcibly committed to the Shalingzi Lunatic Asylum in Zhangjiakou city as a patient supposedly diagnosed with a mental disorder. She was forcibly injected with psychiatric drugs. In July 2000, she was sent to Tangshan Female Labor Camp.
7. Bai Yurong, female, went to Beijing many times to validate Falun Dafa since January 2000, and was detained many times for a total of over 120 days. She was fined over 3,000 Yuan and was not released until she went on a hunger strike and her health was in critical condition. In April 2001, she was arrested for going to Beijing to validate Falun Dafa and is now detained in Yangyuan County Detention Center in Zhangjiakou city.
8. Zhang Ronghua, female, went to Beijing many times to validate Falun Dafa since January 2000, and was detained many times for a total of over 120 days. She was fined over 5,000 Yuan and was not released each time until she went on a hunger strike and her health was in critical condition. (1) A Falun Dafa practitioner's neighbor always sneered at this practitioner and resisted Falun Dafa. Since July 20, 1999, she became aggravated, continuously cursed, sneered at the practitioner and even stood on the side of the police station, talking nonsense in front of the police and slandering Falun Dafa. During that time, she was hospitalized and required surgery due to cholelithiasis [gall stones] . Recently, her son took an examination to apply for a position in a bank. Though his test score was outstanding (in the top percentile in several sections), he was eliminated at the final interview for no reason at all. She was hospitalized once again. The cause of her disease: she has kidney stones and her womb is also full of tumors.

(2) After the self-immolation incident on Tiananmen Square a work unit called in all the employees to study a newspaper that slanders Falun Dafa. A Falun Dafa practitioner was asked to read that newspaper, but he firmly refused. Two of his co-workers became angry, took away the newspaper and started to read it. At that time, the practitioner thought, "They will receive retribution." After 2 or 3 days, the practitioner saw that one co-worker who had read the newspaper had dark eyes and a swollen face. He asked the co-worker, "What happened?" His co-worker replied, "I was beaten by my husband (she and her husband have a very good relationship and had never fought before). He beat me violently and choked my neck. I almost died." He also met the other co-worker who had read the newspaper and learned that this co-worker suddenly had a severe fever of 40 C at midnight and moaned painfully.

(3) An administrative person named Wu Zhongjuan always goes to the homes of two Falun Dafa practitioners to help in trying to get them to renounce Dafa. When she sees that the two practitioners are very firm in cultivating, she always curses and attacks Falun Dafa. Her co-workers and friends all know that her health has always been very good. But now she has been sick, and has been laying in her bed for several days.
