Join us in front of the Orlando City Hall at 9am on Sunday, July 1st, 2001, as we begin our 1000-mile bicycle ride to Washington D.C. to end the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in the People's Republic of China.
Falun Gong, an ancient meditation and exercise system based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance, has been banned in China since July 1999. Since then, tens of thousands of peaceful practitioners have been jailed without trial, and brutally tortured in an attempt to make them stop practicing. At least 233 have been tortured to death, and the number grows daily.
Orlando Falun Gong practitioners, as part of the worldwide Walk to End the Persecution, will be riding to our nation's capital, telling people about Falun Gong and the situation in China. Please join us for the departure ceremony on July 1st. There will be speakers from Amnesty International, the Center for Religious Freedom, and a first-hand account by a Falun Gong practitioner who was imprisoned in China, as well as a photo exhibit and a symbolic Walk to End the Persecution from City Hall to Lake Eola. Join us in supporting Freedom, Justice, and the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance.
