[Falun Dafa Information Center reports] On the morning of June 4, 2001, policemen from Shouguang City in the Weifang District of Shandong province arrested more than ten Falun Gong practitioners in Majia village. Within three days, two of the arrested practitioners had been beaten to death.
One of those killed was Wang Chunxiang, a 60 year-old woman; the other has yet to be identified.
This incident brings the number of Falun Gong practitioners who have been beaten to death in the Weifang district over the last two years to 22.
It is reported that the arrested Falun Gong practitioners suffered about four hours of severe beatings by groups of policemen in the detention center during the afternoon of June 6th. The policemen drank alcohol to fuel their rage while beating the practitioners. They used rubber clubs and electric batons. A group of five or six policemen would beat one practitioner.
Among the victims was a 30-year old woman who was reportedly beaten until she fell into a coma. It is reported that she was stripped of her clothes and that her body was black and blue all over from the beating. She kept vomiting until she finally fell unconscious. She was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment. Her condition is not known at this point.
According to media reports, the Shandong Public Security Bureau held a secret meeting in Weifang on May 18th to carry out mass arrests of Falun Gong practitioners in eight provinces and cities, including Beijing. Shandong province is among those eight. Observers believe that the arrests made on June 4th in Shouguang City are directly related related to this planned action.
