- Shi Wenjie, male, 44, is a resident of Erpu Village, Jizhou Town, Jizhou
City. In July 1999, just for practicing Falun Gong, he was detained for half
a month. Later, since someone reported that he had distributed some Falun
Gong-related materials, he was detained for half a month again. One month
after his release, he was once again illegally arrested and sentenced to
three years in a labor camp.
- Li Huimin, male, 49, is a resident of Xinzhuang Village, Xiaozhai Town. In
July 1999, just for practicing Falun Gong, he was detained for half a month.
After his release, his hometown sent some people to monitor him day and
night; moreover, they took away his business license, not allowing him to do
business. In March 2000, he was detained for a month because he was
practicing in public. In May 2000, as there were too many people who had
been to Beijing to appeal, the government threw him into the detention
center again, and released him after he went on a hunger strike for six
days. But they still kept monitoring him day and night. Later, since
Hengshui Town government accused him of making contact with other Falun Gong
practitioners, he was arrested again and sent to the dentition center in
June 2000. After half a year or so, he was illegally sentenced to jail for
five years.
- Shang Wenling, male, 36, is a resident of Dizhuang Village, Xuzhuang Town.
He went to Beijing to appeal in May 2000. He was accused by police of
"inciting" others to appeal and was sentenced to five years in
labor camp.
- Li Jinxiu, female, 55, is a resident of Fengjia Village, Xuzhuang Town.
She went to Beijing to appeal in May 2000. She was accused by police of
"inciting" others to appeal and was sentenced to three years in
labor camp.
- Chen Jingwang, male, 29, is a resident of Zhuangzitou Village, Xuzhuang
Town. In March 2000, he was put in detention for half a month for practicing
[Falun Gong] exercises in public. In May 2000, he was detained again
because he went to the police station to ask for a forfeit receipt and point
out how the actions taken by the police against them were in violation of
the law. In this town, almost all Falun Gong practitioners who went to make
appeals suffered electric shocks with cattle prods and interrogation. Later,
Chen was transferred for criminal detention. After his release, on July 24,
2000, he was arrested again and sentenced to two years in labor camp.
- Xu Xiuzhi, female, 56, is a resident of Laozhou Village, Nanwucun Town. In
May 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal. The police arrested her for
criminal detention and accused her of having "incited" others to
appeal, then released her afterwards. In September 2000, she was sentenced
to three years in labor camp.
- Zhou Xuemei, female, 23, is a resident of Laozhou Village, Nanwucun Town.
In May 2000, she and her mother went to Beijing to appeal. The police
arrested them for criminal detention and accused them of having
"incited" others to appeal, then released them afterwards. In
September 2000, she was sentenced to three years in labor camp.
- Li Haige, female, 31, Chen Jingwang's wife, is a resident of Zhuangzitou
Village, Xuzhuang Town. In March 2000, she was detained for half a month for
practicing [Falun Gong] exercises in public. In May 2000, since her
husband was [illegally] detained, she went to Beijing to appeal, and
was caught and detained again for half a month. On July 24, 2000, she was
arrested with her husband for no reason. She then went on a hunger strike
and was later released after being detained for a month. In October, she
went to Beijing to appeal again and ended up being arrested for public
security detention. After having being detained for half a month, she was
released. However, her commune people didn't allow her to go home and
detained her in the police station of her town for another half a month,
then transferred her back to the detention center where she was sentenced to
three years of labor reeducation.
- Xia Chunying, female, 36, Shang Wenling's wife, is a resident of Dizhuang
Village, Xuzhuang Town. In September 2000, she was detained for half a month
for distributing materials containing true stories about Falun Gong. In
interrogating her to find the source of those Falun Gong materials, the
police gave her electric shocks. As they couldn't get what they wanted, they
then asked her children. The response of her children was that they didn't
know. In October 2000, since she had gone to Beijing to appeal, she was
detained for half a month in a detention center, then another half a month
in her local police station. At last, she was sent back to the detention
center with Li Haige and some others, and was sentenced to three years labor
reeducation over there.
- Xia Shige, male, 49, is a resident of Fengjia Village, Xuzhuang Town. In
April 2000, he and Xia Tongmu were arrested and detained for half a month
for having practiced Falun Gong exercises together at his home. In May 2000,
he was detained for half a month again as he went to police station with
Chen Jingwang to ask for the forfeit receipt. On July 24, 2000, the police
station asked him if he was still practicing Falun Gong and got the answer
"yes." As a consequence, he was arrested again with Chen Jingwang
and some others, and was detained for half a month and released afterwards.
In October 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal and came back on his own. Even
so, he was still arrested and detained in the police station for half a
month, and released afterwards with Li Haige and some others. Later, he was
once again detained in the police station of his town for half a month and
then transferred to the detention center, where he was sentenced to three
years labor reeducation.
- Sun Shijian, male, 41, is a resident of Xinzhuang Village, Jizhou Town. In
November 1999, he was detained for half a month for no reason. In May 2000,
he went to the local police station to ask for his Falun Dafa books that had
been illegally confiscated and he was again detained for half a month. In
July 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal and was once again arrested and
detained for more than a month. In December 2000, he was arrested while he
was carrying four other Falun Gong practitioners on his tricycle to
distribute materials containing true stories about Falun Gong. In order to
find out where he got the materials, the police stripped him, beat him, and
shocked him electrically. It is reported that he will be sentenced to labor
reeducation.
- Fan Yumei, female, 39, Sun Shijian's wife, is a resident of Xinzhuang
Village, Jizhou Town. In November 1999, she was detained with her husband
for half a month for no reason. In May 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal
because police had illegally detained Dafa practitioners at will, and was
arrested and detained for half a month. In July 2000, as her husband went to
appeal, she was once again detained for a month without reason. In December
2000, she was arrested with her husband in a group of five, while they were
distributing materials containing true stories about Falun Gong. She was
sentenced to three years in a labor camp.
- Zuo Shuling, female, 49, Li Huimin's wife, is a resident of Xinzhuang
Village, Xiaozhai Town. In July 1999, she was detained in a police station
with her husband for practicing Falun Gong. Later, in August 1999, she went
to Beijing to appeal and was detained for half a month. In March 2000, she
was arrested again and was detained for a month for practicing Falun Gong in
public. In May 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal because police illegally
detained Dafa practitioners, Hence, she was detained for three and a half
months and was released in September. In December 2000, she was arrested
with some fellow practitioners while distributing some materials to clarify
the truth [about Falun Gong].
- Li Yanru, female, 33, is a resident of Yueliang Village, Jizhou Town. In
March 2000, she was detained for half a month for practicing Falun Gong
exercises in public. In December 2000, she was arrested with Fan Yumei and a
couple of others, and was sentenced to three years in a labor camp.
- Zhang Shibin, male, is a resident of Xuzhuang Town. In October 1999, he
was detained for half a month for having read Falun Dafa materials at a
fellow practitioner's home. In December 2000, suspecting that he kept some
Dafa materials, the public security chief, An Juanliang, and seven other
policemen interrogated and tortured him for a couple of hours. They stripped
him, punched and kicked him, and gave him electric shocks. It is heard that
he, along with a Falun Gong practitioner from another village, will be
sentenced to jail.
- Xia Chunzheng, female, 32, is a resident of Beiyulin Village, Xuzhuang
Town. In May 2000, as her husband was arrested for asking for the forfeit
receipt, she went to Beijing to appeal, and was detained for half a month.
In October 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal again. After she returned
from Beijing, the police arrested her. On the way to the police station,
when the policemen got into a disagreement with some passersby, she just got
off the police van and walked away. After she had been on the run for 20
days, she was arrested again when somebody reported that she had taken some
Falun Dafa materials from Shijiazhuang City. It is reported that she will be
sentenced.
- Jiu Zhangying, male, 55, is a resident of Jiuyang Village, Jizhou Town. In
May 2000, he was arrested and detained for half a month for trying to take
back the confiscated Falun Dafa books from the police station. In July 2000,
he was arrested again and was illegally detained for a month because he went
to Beijing to appeal. In January 2001, he was caught and illegally detained
for a third time because he went to Beijing to appeal. It is reported that
he will be sentenced to labor camp.
- Wang Wenqian, male, 24, is a resident of Jiuyang Village, Jizhou Town. In
July 2000, he was arrested and detained for more than a month for having
been to Beijing to appeal. In January, for the same reason, he was arrested.
It is reported that he will be sentenced to a labor camp.
- Wang Yufeng, Wang Wenqian's younger sister, was a government-sponsored
student in the First Middle School of Jizhou. She had studied very well in
that school. However, she was expelled because she told her schoolmates the
true story about Falun Gong. In January 2000, knowing that her brother had
gone to appeal and fearing that she would follow him, the police detained
her for seven days. Meanwhile, the police station issued a notice to her
current school - the Second Middle School. Just to avoid trouble, her
current school also prohibited her from going to school anymore.
- Wang Yuansheng, male, 52, Wang Wenqian's father, is a resident of Jiuyang
Village, Jizhou Town. In November 1999, he was illegally detained for half a
month without any reason. In January 2001, he went to Beijing to appeal and
was arrested. It is reported that he will be sentenced to a labor camp.
It is heard that, in Jizhou City, anyone who appeals for Falun Gong will be
sentenced to labor camp.
