To commend the extraordinary contribution of Falun Dafa and its founder, Mr. Li Hongzhi, to the people of New Jersey, mayors of four major cities issued proclamations of Falun Dafa Day or Falun Dafa Week. They are:
Mr. Bollwage noted that under the guidance of Mr. Li Hongzhi, the practice of Falun Dafa teaches "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance" and individuals who practice Falun Dafa can be found in every walk of life. The benefits of practicing Falun Dafa can range from improved health and newfound energy to mental clarity, stress relief and peace of mind.
Mr. Hackett commended Falun Dafa for helping people worldwide to improve their health, purify their mind, uplift their spirit and deepen their understanding of life and humanity, and for helping numerous young people and adults turn away from alcohol, drugs, violence and other bad habits to pursue a more meaningful life.
Mr. Cunningham said in his proclamation that the practice of Falun Dafa is simple, yet profound and effective and has transcended cultural and national barriers. Falun Dafa promotes the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. Practitioners strive to live by these principles in all circumstances. This in turn benefits the community and society as a whole.
Ms. Letts recognized Mr. Li Hongzhi for leading people to conduct more meaningful lives through physical and mental exercises. She also expressed that local residents are privileged to have Falun Gong classes, which are aimed at promoting a deeper understanding of life and humanity.
In addition, the Elizabeth City Council passed a resolution unanimously proclaiming October 25, 2001 as Falun Dafa Day. Jersey City Council honored and saluted Mr. Li Hongzhi in recognition of his exemplary dedication to improving the lives of the people in the global community and proclaimed December 1, 2001 as Falun Dafa Day.
