[Jiangsu Province] Recent Situation of Dafa Practitioners in Nanjing and Xuzhou Cities
Three female Falun Dafa practitioners Cheng Haiyan, Li Anning and Liu Shuzhen from the city of Nanjing in Jiangsu Province were arrested in the city of Xuzhou in Jiangsu Province. They were shackled and illegally detained in the Qingnian Police Station for five days. One practitioner, Liu Shuzhen was handcuffed from behind and forcibly pressed down on the floor. A cruel police officer then put a chair on top of her body and then sat on it. She had already been arrested once before but was able to escape; this time she protested by going on a hunger strike. All three practitioners were later sent to the Beishan Detention Center in the city of Xuzhou.
During the entire time that they were detained, they always used their righteous thoughts. They promoted Dafa to the policemen, the prison guards as well as to the other prisoners. They rectified every abnormality around them with very good effects. Once, while practitioner Cheng Haiyan was benevolently clarifying the truth and promoting Dafa, she sent forth righteous thoughts to lower the volume of the TV in the room. Her powerful righteous thoughts made the TV suddenly turn off. After she finished talking, the TV automatically turned back on by itself. This greatly frightened the evil.
Female practitioner Qi Na, from the city of Xuzhou in Jiangsu Province was arrested after she used 20,000 Yuan RMB (more than three times the average annual salary for a city worker in China) of her own money in October 2000 to rent cars to transport Dafa practitioners to Beijing so that they could appeal. She was detained in the Beishan Detention Center in the city of Xuzhou. Then, afterwards she was sent to the Judong Labor Camp in Nanjing. Several months after that, because she was still very resolute, she was sent back to the Beishan Detention Center and was heavily sentenced. She is now being illegally detained in the Jiawang Prison in the city of Xuzhou. Her firm resolution to cultivating Dafa is unshakable.
Another female practitioner Xu Xingrong, from Suining, city of Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province has been detained in several degenerate places such as the Tongshan Police Station, the Tongshan Detention Center, the Beishan Detention Center, and the brainwashing center in Suining . During the time that she was detained, she used righteous thoughts as well as the principles of Dafa in her every word and deed to rectify the warped notions of many of the common prisoners and changed the foul environment around her. Even while she was in the most depraved environment, she still studied the Fa, practiced the exercises, formed friendships with many people and effectively validated Dafa. She has opened up an extraordinary channel for validating Dafa and has inspired many other fellow practitioners. She has acted uprightly and deserves to be called a genuine practitioner.
[Hainan Province] Dafa Practitioners Are Forced to Make Notebooks, Middle School Students Get to Know That "Falun Dafa is Good"
In the first half of 2001, many students in Hainan Middle School in Haikou City found words such as "Falun Dafa is Good" or "Falun Dafa is Righteous" in their newly purchased notebooks. Although they were shocked, the teachers and the students passed around the words they had discovered. This has made a big impact in the local area.
This incident also shocked the high-ranking government officials who immediately sent people to Haikou to conduct an investigation. It is believed that these particular notebooks were manufactured by a female labor camp in Hainan where about 100 female Dafa practitioners are being illegally detained. As of now, the supervisor of that labor camp has been dismissed from his post. It is likely that the Dafa practitioners, who did this magnanimous act of promoting Dafa for the good of the public, will suffer further persecutions.
[Northeastern China] People Who Have Awakened
Under enormous risks to their lives, Falun Dafa practitioners in Northeastern China distributed truth-clarifying literature to the general public who have been deceived by Jiang Zemin. Many people's hearts were touched by this; "Truthfulness, Benevolence and Forbearance" are gradually awakening their righteous thoughts.
Once, as I was talking with a taxi driver, when he learned that I was a Dafa practitioner, he said very respectfully, "You are so great! Right on! Your teacher is even greater. I think that only Falun Dafa can save our society. I really admire Falun Gong. Why does the government want to arrest you, who are these good people standing in Tiananmen Square? But how can the government not be scared? You have touched upon their sore spot. Their dark, depraved sides have all been exposed. They have been so ashamed that they cover it up with anger and use the political machine to suppress you. They are so incompetent; how can they win the hearts of the people like this? The people are timid and are afraid of getting into trouble, but one day they will all stand up to support you. The Tiananmen Square self-immolation incident is a total fraud. When making films, you would see that the actors are burnt to death, but did those actors really die? It is just like that. They were all acting. You are on the right path and you should make it to the end! I will wait to hear of good news about you."
On another day, a female Dafa practitioner was posting Dafa materials to clarify the truth. She was discovered by a laborer who was hired by the police. He seized her fiercely and tried to take her to the police station. The practitioner resisted and used the benevolence that she had developed through the cultivation of Falun Dafa to tell him about the truth of the persecution. This laborer, who did not know about the truth, debated with the practitioner for more than two hours. Then a police vehicle arrived and the laborer told the officer in the vehicle, "She is a Falun Gong practitioner; she posted flyers." But, the police officer said, "So she likes to post, it's none of your business! Let her go!" The practitioner said, "He has taken my bicycle." The police officer again commanded the laborer, "Give her back her bicycle immediately and go home!" The laborer felt snubbed and went back home.
It is thus clear that people who have righteous thoughts in their minds are able to distinguish the truth from the fabrications. The day when all the people realize the truth is the day when the evil will totally collapse.
Fellow practitioners, cultivate diligently! Clarify the truth thoroughly, and eradicate all of the evil completely. Let us welcome the glorious moment when the Fa will soon rectify the human world. Let us welcome the happy spring when we can meet our master openly.

Zhang Bangliang, a Falun Dafa practitioner who is more than 30 years old, is the deputy commissioner of Rongchang County in Sichuan province, serving as vice-secretary in charge of granaries. He was arrested en route to a Tongliang county village in Sichuan province to distribute Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials during the National Day holidays. He is presently being illegally detained in the Chongqing police station. Because of this incident, the commissioner and the secretary of Rongchang County were dismissed from their posts. Furthermore, a high-ranking official in the city of Chongqing was ordered to go to Beijing to deliver a statement of self-criticism.

[Northeastern China] Solemn Warning to All Levels of Leadership: Please Do Not Help a Tyrant Do Evil
Since Jiang Zemin and his accomplices began to suppress Falun Dafa on July 22, 1999, several corrupt people in the Northeastern Normal School and its departments have closely followed Jiang Zemin in cruelly persecuting the students, teachers, and employees who practiced Falun Dafa. The persecution has included all of the following levels: middle schools, eastern campus middle schools, elementary schools, and all departments and work units inclusive. They have forced the Dafa practitioners to hand over their Dafa books and write guarantee statements, illegally ransacked practitioners' dormitories and residences, organized brain-washing sessions, discharged students, revoked Party memberships, dismissed people from public employment, imposed fines, confiscated apartments and cooperated with the police to illegally send practitioners to labor camps, detention centers and brain-washing centers. These actions have brought great mental and physical injuries as well as enormous financial difficulties to practitioners and their relatives.
They have a policy now whereby new students are not allowed to enroll if they practice Falun Gong. Enrolled students are forced to watch videotapes that slander Dafa and they are also forced sign their names to damage Dafa. Graduating students who firmly believe in Dafa will not be assigned jobs and their profiles and records would be sent back to their hometowns.
Dafa practitioners have had their Party memberships revoked for "not staying consistent with the Party;" practitioners were discharged of their student statuses because "Falun Gong people should not be trained as their skills would only be used to benefit Falun Gong"; practitioners were dismissed from public employment, but were said to be "transferred to a different job" or said to have "left the office of their own accord;" practitioners were sent to brain-washing centers, but were said to be "attending conferences." These are just a few examples of the many ways in which officials try to justify their persecution of practitioners.
Falun Dafa Practitioners were forced into giving up their cultivation and into giving up "Truthfulness, Benevolence and Forbearance" just because the officials were afraid of the righteous environment that they saw developing around them. Their suppression is doing damage to the Dafa of the universe and obstructing Fa-Rectification. What they want is to extract from practitioners the so-called "Three Statements," which they collect even though these statements are written against the practitioners' own wills. As long as they have these "Three Statements" they can ask their superiors for credits and rewards. However, as a matter of fact, this so-called program of "Help and Education" is always accompanied by veiled threats of discharge from party memberships, revocation of student statuses, dismissal from work posts, confiscation of homes, or illegal detentions.
Dafa practitioners have been firmly resisting the evil forces. They would rather give up everything than deviate from Dafa. This has been a heavy blow to the evil.

One day, the chief of the National Security Division was playing mahjong with a business leader. The chief said, "Isn't there a Falun Gong practitioner in your company?" The business leader replied, "None that I know of." The chief added, "His name is XX." Seeing that the chief knew the practitioner, the business leader started talking about how the practitioner recovered from a serious illness after practicing Falun Gong and how well he performed in the work place. Finally, he let out a sigh, "Even XX Party member cannot match what the practitioner does." "Yeah, they are all great," the chief of the National Security Division added.
[China] A Guard Describes his Frustration at the Determination of Practitioners
A guard working in a detention center recently made the following comments to some people close to him: "Those Falun Gong practitioners are not easy to deal with. What can we do when even the government can't do anything about them? They are all so firm, upright and unafraid. When we ask them their names, they say they're Dafa practitioners. We end up naming them A, B, C, D, etc. They aren't scared when we detain them. We can only keep them at the center for one month. Then we have to send them off to other places. Otherwise, our center would be full and we wouldn't be able to take in anyone else. We send some of them to labor camps and to brainwashing sessions. After a while we see the same people being sent to us. Again, we have to ship them off to other places one month later. It is really strange how they persist on practicing Falun Gong; nothing seems to deter them. Why on earth has Falun Gong made such a deep impression on them?"

After July 20, 1999, a practitioner who owns a large business and two buildings, like thousands of fellow practitioners, went to Beijing to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa. He was detained when he returned from Beijing and then was sentenced to a two-year term of "reeducation" in a labor camp. During that period, his father passed away. His family asked that he be allowed to leave in order to participate in his father's funeral. Two guards escorted him to his home for the ceremony. Afterwards, his mother and other family members begged him to return home and tend to their property. The guards said, "We would release him right away if he would write a pledge letter saying he would give up practicing Falun Gong." In response, the practitioner asked his mother with a calm heart, "Mom, what's the use of material possessions?"
[Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Incomplete List of Falun Dafa Practitioners Who Were Persecuted and Fined
Pan Xuanhua, female, is 56 years old. She was forced to publicly condemn Falun Dafa in Tianamen Square. She refused and was subsequently arrested and sent to the Wanjia Labor Camp for "reeducation." She was held in solitary confinement, beaten, insulted, brainwashed and forcibly drugged. She has been detained for more than one year and seven months beyond her original term. The "6-10"office, the Songhuajiang Police Station of Nangang District, the office of Harbin City in Beijing, and the neighborhood committee joined forces to carry out the persecution. The office of Harbin City in Beijing extorted 300 Yuan in October 1999 and 180 Yuan in January 2000 from her. Detention Center No. 2 of Harbin City extorted 100 Yuan from her in January 2000.
Fei Menglin, female, is 32 years old. On May 9, 2000, she was extorted 2,000 Yuan [Approximately 4 months salary of an average urban worker in China] by Fan Qingmin of Detention Center No. 2. On June 28, 2000, the police station of Xingfu Village in Shuangcheng City took her necklace worth 2,000 Yuan, a watch worth 40 Yuan, fined her 100 Yuan, and illegally detained her for 15 days. Altogether she was illegally detained three times for a total of 140 days. The police attempted to sentence her to a one-year term in a labor camp, but did not succeed. Whenever a holiday came people in her work unit would harass her for being under police surveillance.
Liu Zhipeng, male, is 33 years old. In May 2000 he was fired from his job because he went to appeal to authorities in Beijing. In September 2000, he was fined 1,000 Yuan by Fan Qingmin of Police Station No. 2. On January 26, 2001, he was again fined 1,000 Yuan by Fan Qingmin and illegally held for 15 days. He is now being illegally detained in Suihua Labor Camp in Heilongjiang Province.
Zhang Hongzhu, male, is 54 years old. In December 1999 Fan Qingmin of Police Station No. 2 fined Zhang 2,000 Yuan and appropriated his fax machine. He was illegally detained for 13 days and was forced several times to write a pledge letter to give up practicing Falun Gong.
Zhu Chonghua, female, is 32 years old. On June 4, 2000, she was fined 3,000 Yuan by Fan Qingmin of Police Station No. 2. On June 11, 2000, Fan Qingmin again fined her 750 Yuan. On June 14, 2000, the political security section of local police department fined her 200 Yuan. She was detained for 4 days and fined another 150 Yuan for a meal charge.
Hu Yulan, female, is 51 years old. Local authorities sent some people to monitor her and did not allow her to practice Falun Dafa, abusing her personal freedom. On December 20, 2000, she was fined 1,200 Yuan by Leader Fan and Chief Gao of Police Station No. 2 in Bayan Town. Lei Ming and another policeman named Liu from Police Station No. 2 in Bayan Town went to her home to harass her several times.
Shi Ying, female, 23 years old, a former student in Qiqihar University, lives in Muleng City. She started practicing Falun Dafa in May 1999. Several times university authorities asked her to write a pledge letter giving up her practice of Falun Gong, hand in Falun Dafa books, and write criticisms of Falun Gong. At the end of October 2000 she was arrested and sent to University security division because she distributed materials clarifying the truth about Dafa. She was sent to the Wenhua Road Police Station because she persisted in saying that Falun Dafa is good. While in custody police beat her to get information about the Dafa website. She didn't give them any information. They then cuffed her hands behind her and hung her up on a door and stole over 100 Yuan from her.
Another practitioner was also illegally arrested. She was transferred to Detention Center No. 2 and detained there for over one month. Later, because she didn't feel well and because her father asked a relative to waive the fine, she was put on "probation." At the end of April 2001, because she refused to attend a state sponsored conference "Exposing and Criticizing" Falun Dafa, she was sent home under the guise of a "family visit" and told that she could no longer continue her schooling. Due to many reasons, she has been forced to leave her home and become destitute.

The labor camp has taken new measures to intensify the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. They have installed a 24-hour ultra-violet (UV) monitoring system even though extended exposure of UV radiation damages the human body, showing complete disregard for human life.
[Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Latest News
Right after National Day, Li Hongfeng, Xu Yong, and six other police officers from the Jintie Police Station in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province raided a Falun Dafa practitioner's home and forcibly took away two practitioners. According to a witness, the two practitioners didn't give in to the police and so were tightly cuffed by the hands and feet and tossed into a police car. They are still being detained.

Chen Xingqin (female) is from Xinchang, Zhejiang Province. On May 23, 2001, she was detained because she had posted materials revealing the truth about Falun Dafa. The Police Department illegally sentenced her to three years in labor "reeducation" camp. She was temporarily sent back home due to her heart condition, but police kept surveillance on her and other practitioners everyday. She left her home when she heard the news that Shaoxing City would be conducting a brainwashing session.
[Beijing] The Terrible Night of July 19, 2001 in Beijing
On July 19, 2001, at about 8:30 p.m., thirty uniformed and plain-clothes police from the Beijing Police Department, Fengtai District Police Department, and the Majiabao Police Station arrived in six police cars and raided a Fengtai female practitioner, Zhao Guiying's home. She didn't submit to the police and didn't open her door for them. Angry, the police kicked and pounded at her door, but were still unable to open it. They then used a hammer and other tools to pound and pry open the door, making a loud noise that all the residents in the building heard. The noise even startled residents in adjacent buildings. Dozens of residents gathered to watch. Many people witnessed the police's violent behavior and were upset by it. Some even came close to the police line to question them, "It is late night, and you are still here pounding at the door. Are you going to let us go to bed?! How can you call yourself the people's police?" The police replied fiercely, "Shut up! We are performing official duty." Other people watched but did not dare to speak. The outer door was eventually broken, followed by the inside wooden door. The police rushed into her house. Zhao Guiying was taken out of her home with both hands cuffed behind her back. Before she was forced into the police car, she shouted out to the bystanders, "Falun Gong practitioners are all good people!" Her courage won the hearts and respect of bystanders and frightened the police.
Good and the evil are easily distinguished. People at the scene all showed sympathy for Falun Gong. The whole event lasted for more than four hours. Witnesses say that the police later searched Zhao Guiying's home and seized many of her personal possessions. Zhao is now detained at Beijing Police Department's Detention Center.
One of the perpetrators of this crime against Zhao Guiying: Li, male, more than 20 years old, is a policeman at the Majiabao Police Station in Fengtai District. He received a promotion because of his "good performance" in this event.
[Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Huang Dianping Is Missing
Dafa practitioner Huang Dianping (female) from Wuhan, Hubei Province was taken away by police between August 20th and 30th in 2001, while distributing truth-clarifying materials. She was taken to the Tangjiadun Police Station, but now nobody knows her whereabouts. Her family has searched many places but has been unable to locate her.
[Haikou City, Hainan Province] Exposing the Evil Deeds at Xiuying Female Labor Camp
In the last ten days of October 2001, to show their resistance to being illegally detained, female practitioners in Xiuying Female Labor Camp in Haikou City refused to wear the labor camp uniform. Consequently the labor camp officials employed an indecent measure -- they did not allow them to wear their regular clothes. The practitioners have had to wear their underwear making it impossible for family to meet with them.
[Hainan Province] The "610"Office Tries to Conceal the Fact that They Are Holding Brainwashing Sessions
Near National Day, police in Hainan Province were quite active. They launched a massive campaign to arrest Dafa practitioners. Many steadfast practitioners were arrested and some Dafa materials printing spots were torn down so that the truth-clarifying efforts in the area were seriously restricted. Recently, the "601" office in Hainan Province started a series of brainwashing sessions again. This time they did not openly arrest practitioners, but instead deceived practitioners to less visible places and arrested them. Each brainwashing session held only six to seven people and so was less conspicuous.
