Practitioners from a county in Henan Province have closely followed Teacher in the Fa-rectification process, using various ways to clarify the truth, such as hanging up banners, distributing flyers and pictures, and sending people VCD's. Many locals have come to know the truth and stand on the side of Falun Dafa, and ill-intentioned people have been deterred.

After watching the enlightening analysis of the "Tiananmen Square Self-immolation Event", a farmer said sincerely, "I thought Falun Gong was like what they said on TV, but that turned out to be a big lie. It's so unfair to the practitioners."

Two practitioners went to a village in Shenqiu to distribute flyers. One particular farmer was not at home when they came. Later, he learned of the their visit and went after the practitioners on a bicycle, asking for all the remaining flyers. He said, "I will help you distribute them." He also told them to be careful not to run into the police. Seeing that people of the world are gradually awakening, the practitioners can feel the boundless benevolence of Teacher and the great power of Dafa.

Practitioner Zhang Guirong is 50 years old. She was arrested in July 2001 for distributing Dafa flyers and sent to the detention center in the Jinzhou District of Dalian. She was sentenced to labor camp on Sept 17. On the way to the Masanjia Labor Camp, the police stopped at Wafangdian City and sent her to the city hospital for unknown reasons. At present, Zhang lies in a coma at the hospital. She has wounds on her face and head that required stitches. She has been reduced to little more than skin and bone, and her complexion has turned deathly pale. Her head has been shaved, and she has lost several teeth. Her face is distorted nearly beyond recognition. Shortly after her family arrived at the hospital, the police went away and never showed up again.

Her family went to the police department in Jinzhou District to ask for an explanation. Their reply was, "We have no idea. We know nothing about it." According to doctors at the hospital, the police had sent two female practitioners to the hospital at that time.

The other practitioner's name is unknown. She wasn't severely wounded and could walk on her own. The police tied her up after her treatment and took her away in their van.

Suzhou City officials are closely following Jiang Zemin's instructions in persecuting practitioners, especially mayor Yang Weize, who is the nephew of Jiang's wife. Regarding himself as a member of the "first family", he has no respect for state law, committing unforgivable crimes in his wanton persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

Representatives from more than ten countries attended a financial conference in Suzhou City in September. The authorities were afraid that practitioners might go to Beijing to appeal during this period of time, so they have recently arrested many practitioners, sending them to prison, labor camp, and brainwashing class.

Practitioner Li Zhenru from Wei County in Hebei Province arrived in Suzhou in the evening of August 23 to visit her daughter Zhou Mei'e. On the afternoon of August 28, the city police department, under the direction of Mayor Yang Weize, went to Zhou's home to take her mother to the brainwashing class. Zhou firmly refused to cooperate. She and her mother clarified the truth to the police, exposing the evil conduct of Jiang and his followers. They also sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil force behind it. As a result, the police didn't take Li away.

On September 4, however, they notified the police department in Wei County to take Li back from Suzhou City. Soon after, officials and policemen from Wei County took Li Zhenru back from her daughter's home. Meanwhile, the police department in Suzhou sent people to forcibly enter Zhou's home and took her against her will to the brainwashing class. They threatened to send her to labor camp if she persisted in practicing Falun Gong.

Wang was detained on August 21, 2001 while painting Dafa phrases outside with two other practitioners from Dezhou City in Shandong Province and Hebei Province. He went on hunger strike for 15 days and was tortured to death on September 6. His family saw his body at Yanggu County Hospital.

Even before April 25, 1999 (Note: on that day thousands of practitioners went to appeal in Beijing, which brought on the persecution by the government against Falun Dafa), a local police department in Liaoning Province had issued documents to restrict the practice of Falun Gong. After July 20, 1999 (Note: the day when the Chinese government officially banned the practice and launched their campaign of persecution against Falun Gong), they have become even more rampant. Under such severe circumstances, there is still a work unit where people are not afraid of the evil force. The practitioners who work there continue to clarify the truth to people around them, and many people have a clear understanding of Falun Gong and see through the lies slandering Dafa. While they are in the midst of Fa-rectification, they continue to follow the requirements of being a practitioner and they do their daily jobs well. They are all leaders in the workplace, showing people firsthand the greatness of Truthfulness, Benevolence, and Forbearance, and winning recognition and support from the people around them. Whenever the local police come to pressure the practitioners, their boss simply rebuffs them.

Apart from using electric batons, the Tuanhe Labor Camp officials also uses "reformed" practitioners [Note: practitioners who have renounced their belief under force and are employed by the police to persecute their fellow practitioners] to ruthlessly torture steadfast practitioners. These people who routinely beat practitioners include Zhang Wenlong, Zhao Lianzhong, Han Junqing, and Guo Jianxin. Among them, Zhang Wenlong is the most notorious. He has tried many things to force Lu Changjun to give up his belief, beating Lu to the point where he was paralyzed and had to be sent to the hospital. After hearing the news, his family turned to the courts for justice. The labor camp first encouraged the torture, and then they tried to cover it up after this incident. However, Lu's family does not want to accept the result and continues to sue them. In the summer they sent their complaint to the City Intermediate Court. It was reported that the court has accepted the case, but the result of the trial is unknown.

On September 20, the "Binzhou Daily" published on their front page a speech by the City Party Secretary Wang Zonglian, given at the City Conference on Social Order and State Security. In the speech, he called for another round of finding and persecuting practitioners. He said that one of his main goals is to prevent practitioners from going to Beijing.

It is anticipated that a new wave of persecution will begin around October 1, the Chinese National Day. The local officials will probably force practitioners to write guarantee pledges or attend brainwashing classes. In addition, they will initiate a month long propaganda campaign to smear Falun Gong. The anti-Falun Gong exhibitions and signature collection drives in the past have already poisoned many innocent people. The Secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee is a woman named Wu Jinwa.

Qingchuan Bridge, also known as the Rainbow Bridge, is famous for its high arch. It links Hanzheng Street and Nananzui, where the Yangtze River and Han River intersect. The population around the bridge is quite dense. At 9:20 am on September 3, 2001, three large banners were gently unfurled from the center of the arch. These banners were 15 meters long and 1.5 meters wide. They read, "Falun Dafa Is the Righteous Fa, Restore the Reputation of Teacher, Persecution Will Not Be Tolerated By the Heavens and Gods, Good Is Rewarded with Good and Evil Is Met With Evil." The banners were fluttering in the wind, and the golden words were especially bright.

After guards on the bridge reported the situation, several police vehicles came, but they were astonished by what they saw. They could not figure out how the practitioners had hung the banners and how they had left the scene safely. A large group of policemen pointed at the banners in the sky, sighing. They were surprised and confused, and some made phone calls for help. They had no clue about how to take the banners down.

Even after noon had passed, no policeman dared to climb up the arch, but more and more people gathered around the bridge to watch. The Dafa banners were still fluttering in the sky with dignity. This sight undoubtedly frightened the evil in this dimension and destroyed evil beings in other dimensions. How the brave Dafa practitioners managed to hang up the banners in such a high and challenging spot still remains a mystery for the police.

Since July 22, 1999, the officials in the Fangzi District closely followed Jiang Zemin's criminal group, viciously persecuting Dafa and Dafa practitioners. In particular, Zhuang Shangtian has used the persecution of Falun Gong for personal advancement, employing exceedingly cruel methods to reach his goals. He had many Dafa practitioners taken to remote places to be tortured. He instigated practitioners' family members to pressure or even harm those who refused to give up practicing Falun Gong. He often threatens to send practitioners to Jinan Women's Prison.

Zhuang routinely denies practitioners food and gives them only small amounts of water. He forces practitioners to sit and sleep only on the cement floor, and often verbally abuses them. In Baiyangbu Village, Zhuang Shangtian publicly slandered Dafa and Teacher many times and forced practitioners to read books attacking Dafa. He refuses to let practitioners sleep until very late at night, ordering guards to pour water all over the floor that the practitioners sleep on.

A guard said, "If he asks me to pour water on the floor, I won't do it. I would rather quit than do something against my conscience!"

Zhuang has also extorted money from Dafa practitioners, forcing every practitioner to pay 5,000 Yuan (Chinese dollars, the monthly salary for an average worker in Chinese cities is about 500 Yuan) before being released. He also ordered people to monitor the practitioners, hoping to find out something to his advantage. When Dafa practitioners were detained in Gouxi Village, Party Secretary Li Meishu from Lijia Village and another man abused and beat Dafa practitioners, causing one practitioner to be hospitalized. Zhuang Shangtian and Li Meishu even threatened to poison this practitioner to death in the hospital.

There was a policeman in this area who was notorious for his cruelty while persecuting practitioners. After his crimes were exposed on Clearwisdom, he would say to practitioners, "Don't forget, I did not beat you this time." After he arrested a practitioner recently, he told the practitioner that he had seen him posting truth-clarifying literature three times and pretended not to see him, because he felt guilty arresting him again. However, someone reported this practitioner, and he had to arrest him under his supervisor's orders. He kind heart has begun to emerge, and his words showed his unwillingness to continue the persecution.

On July 24, 2001, two vehicles carrying about 10 people came to Cuijiazhai Village in Yongquan Township of Wei County. Led by an officer from the village, these people came to Dafa practitioner Wu Yu's home. Wu was not at home at that time, so they went to the fields to look for him. They found Wu tending to the land and tried to take his picture. He refused to cooperate, so these people dragged him to the road and began to attack him madly. Wu fell down, and they kicked him repeatedly. In the end, these thugs lifted Wu up and took his picture with someone grabbing his collar from behind. After this incident, Wu went back to the village and exposed the evil in front of his fellow villagers by showing them the injuries he sustained from the beating.

At the beginning of August, a local practitioner refused a request by the police to sign a document promising that her husband, who had been given a two-year sentence at labor camp for practicing, would give up Falun Gong. The police then arrested her and ransacked her home. Without going through any legal procedure, the police imprisoned her for 29 days.

Zhang Liangyu, male, 53 years old, is a farmer in Cizhu Township. Because he distributed the Clearwisdom article "Send Forth Righteous Thoughts for the Third Time, and Eradicate the Evil," he was arrested and held in the Yiwanshui Detention Center of Lianglu Township. The police there tried to brainwash him for fourteen days. They lashed the practitioners' backs and knees with whips made of twisted cable, leaving deep welts each time. They lashed the practitioners more than ten times each and then kept them in handcuffs for five days and five nights. Through this torture, the police hoped to shake the righteous beliefs of the practitioners and force them to curse Dafa and Teacher. Zhang was able to sustain his righteous thoughts and refused to give in.

Ran Congyang, male, over 50 years old, is a farmer in Liangcha Village of Cizhu Township. He was arrested on July 11, 2001. He is currently being held in the detention center.

Zhang Huaan, male, 28 years old, was laid off from his job and lived in Cizhu Township. The police ransacked his home and discovered Dafa materials. He was then arrested in Longxi Township. He is currently being held in the detention center.

Deng Jialin, male, 40 years old, is self-employed and a resident of Cizhu Township. He was arrested for practicing Falun Gong. He is currently being held at the detention center, and his family members are not allowed to see him.

Chen Jiawu, male, over 30 years old, is a farmer in Liangcha Village of Cizhu Township. Last year the police arrested him for carry a Clearwisdom article. He is currently serving time in the Xishanping No. 13 Labor Camp.

Qiao Guangxing, male, a former army colonel and assistant director of the handicapped association of Huadu District, was arrested on his way to Beijing to appeal. Wang Xia, female, retired, was arrested in early November 2000 for clarifying the truth of Falun Gong. Both practitioners were imprisoned in the Timian Drug Rehabilitation Center of Huadu District for long periods of time. Because they refused to write guarantees to give up Falun Gong, the authorities transferred them to a brainwashing class at the Ersha Island Labor Camp located in the Cuotou District of Guangzhou City. Each month they were charged 3600 Yuan. Meanwhile, the Timian Drug Rehabilitation Center extorted 10,000 Yuan from Wang's family, causing her son to be unable to afford college.
