Since July 22, 1999, the officials in charge of the local government and police branches of Fanzi District, Weifang (city), Shandong Province have closely followed Jiang Zemin, and launched a brutal persecution against the local Falun Dafa practitioners. They have committed the most heinous crimes against practitioners. Below are some instances.

Wang Ruzhen is a 48-year-old farmer from the Wangjia Village, Fanzi Township, Fanzi District. She used to have a genetic disease in her respiratory system, and was unable to take care of herself. In the spring of 1996, she fortunately attained Falun Dafa, and recovered from her illness. When the government banned Falun Dafa, Wang Ruzhen continued practicing it. She went to Beijing to prove to the people that Falun Dafa is good with her own experience, for which she was harassed and detained several times. On October 25, 1999, she was detained in the Division of Finance of Fangzi Township for the so-called Reform-through-Education. While she was in detention, her parents, who are old and infirm, had no one care for them. The government rejected Wang's request to return home to look after her parents on the grounds that she had not accepted reform. Wang's father died on November 22, 2000 and never had the chance to see Wang Ruzhen before his death.

Wang Weihua is a female practitioner, who has a family member working for Fangzi Coal Mine in Weifang City. She became a faithful Falun Gong practitioner, because all her chronic diseases were cured after she took on the practice.

Wang went to Beijing to appeal to the government for Falun Dafa in early July 2000. She was arrested and transported back to her town, and held there in the Coal Mine Police Precinct. The police handcuffed her to a post in an open field, and left her to be burned by the sun for the whole day. They also verbally abused. In October, the police from the same precinct arrested her again for disseminating flyers containing information on the truth about Falun Dafa. Wang was severely beaten; she passed out several times during the abuse. The police woke her up by pouring cold water on her, and continued the beating. By the time she was delivered to a local detention center Wang had bruises all over her body. Her injuries were so serious that the detention center refused to accept her. On October 28, 2000, she was sentenced to 3 years labor, and is currently detained in Jinan Female Labor Camp.

Lu Chao, a 21-year-old practitioner, lives in Xiwang Village, Fangzi Township, Fangzi District. She was a student in the Department of Vocational Training at the Shandong Engineering College. The college expelled her and sent her back to her village for being a practitioner and going to Beijing to appeal. Since then, she has been detained several times and put under surveillance . When she was caught reading Falun Dafa books by the surveillance team, Fan Deqing, Communist Party Secretary of Xiwang Village, pulled her hair and beat her. Lu struggled and tried to get her books back. As a result, Fan Deqing delivered her to the local police precinct for detention, claiming that Lu was a "Falun Gong Troublemaker."

In June 2000, Lu and other practitioners were tricked to Xiwang Village by the Fangzi Township government, and were imprisoned there. Later, the Township transferred them to the Town's Division of Finance to be reformed. Lu Chao was deprived of her freedom, and her right to work. She protested the arrest with a hunger strike. On the fourth day of the strike, she was force-fed with a tube, which Lu resisted. Sun Mengchao, Head for the Industry Division of the township, kicked a milk container onto her head, and force-fed her with a tube twice. When they pulled the tube out, it was covered with blood. Lu Chao, unyielding to the evil force, was finally injected with sedatives, which turned out to be ineffective on her. The township officials and police officers from the precinct were furious, so they handcuffed her to an iron chair for a day and a night. Lu had milk powder on her head, which attracted a swarm of flies. Wang Sumei, Lu's 54-year-old mother and also a practitioner, was also jailed with Lu, and she asked the police to unlock her cuffs so that she could wash Lu's hair. One local security person showed sympathy to Lu Chao, and unlocked her so she could have her hair cleaned. As a result, he was fired by the township leaders.

Lu Chao lost five opportunities to be employed due to township's interference, and the town leaders twice took her away from her workplace. Once, Lu was laid off from her job, but the township officials caught her and took her to the detention center and charged her with "unsuccessfully deserting her job"...

Lu Chao has been under detention at the Division of Finance for over one month with no criminal charges filed against her.

Additionally, Wang Sumei, mother of Lu Chao, was tortured numerous times for continuing to practice Falun Dafa. She was finally sentenced to three years in a labor camp for females in Jinan City on October 28, 2000.

Feng Yan (an assumed name), a retired teacher from Fangzi Township, Weifang City, has been arrested, detained, fined and verbally abused for continuing to practice Falun Dafa. Her school stopped sending her pension check for over a year, and she has been in financial difficulty. On October 25, 2000, police again arrested her, and detained in a weed-infested courtyard to have her watch videotapes and read newspapers that are full of slanderous information against our Teacher and Falun Dafa. Because she refused to sign a repentance letter, the police forced her to sleep on the wet restroom floor. While she was detained, Feng Yan requested to be released to see her daughter, who was on her way out of town to be married. Zhao Xiangyong, the secretary of township's political and legal committee, did not grant her request; instead, he beat her and cursed her for asking. He also commanded a police officer to handcuff her in an unheated room for eight hours. Zhao finally allowed Feng to be escorted home for two hours, but not until Feng's daughter came to beg him in her wedding gown.

The people from the Weifang government and police from the Police Bureau have shown no mercy to Falun Dafa practitioners. They have forced practitioners to sleep on cold tile floors, driven them outside to be rained on, and eaten all the food sent by families and friends of the practitioners. They also said to the practitioners: "We are being nice to you because we have not yet left you outside in the cold, and we have not yet pumped feces into your stomachs..." and "We will give you prison sentences if you do not break with Falun Gong..."
