1. [Beijing] College Students Detained in Artillery Bureau in Beijing

It has been verified that all the university students who got arrested during the Chinese New Year for appealing on the Tiananmen Square had been transferred to the Artillery Bureau (left by Japanese during the War of Resistance Against Japan) of the 14th section of the City Public Security Bureau.á



2. [Beijing] Beijing On Alert; Large Number of Practitioners Arrested

Recently, police in Xuan-wu, Dong-cheng and other districts of Beijing have been on alert. The police have started to visit practitioners at home and ask them whether they are still practicing Falun Gong. If they give an affirmative answer, they would be required to stay at home instead of going to appeal. If they do not stay at home, they would be required to attend the "education" class. Some practitioners have been taken away immediately to attend the "education" class.á

In last two days, some practitioners in the Tiananmen area got arrested. Today, there are police vehicles almost everywhere in the Tiananmen area.á

In last two days, the police in the Fang-shan District have started to arrest Falun Gong practitioners in large scale. They would be detained for one month only because they are Falun Gong practitioners, regardless whether or not they have appealed to the authorities or signed the appealing letters.



3. [A-cheng City, Heilongjiang Province] 45 Practitioners On Hunger Strike to Defend Their Constitutional Right of Practicing Falun Gong

All of the 30 female practitioners detained in the A-cheng City public security bureau started hunger strike on March 1, 2000. Some male practitioners also joined them. Now a total of 45 practitioners are on hunger strike.á

Previously, these detained practitioners still kept their group practice and group study of Falun Gong, regardless how the police tortured them. They had been beaten up with the leather belt, poured cold water and hung up. The following four practitioners had been hung up for up to 3 days and 3 nights: Ms. Li Xiao-wei, who is only 18 years old and a high school student, Ms. Wu Gui-zhi, an elementary school teacher, Ms. Liu Yan-qiu, a middle school teacher, and Ms. Cao Yu-er, a staff member in a hospital. Later, the police confiscated all their materials of Falun Dafa. In order to prevent them from practicing Falun Gong exercises, the police played rock music in high volume for days.á

In order to defend their constitutional right of practicing Falun Gong, these practitioners started hunger strike on March 1, 2000. (News provided on March 3, 2000)



4. [Cheng-du City, Si-chuan Province] Detained Practitioners Signed Appealing Letter; Pregnant Woman Still Need to Report to Police Station Everyday

Some practitioners who are still in police custody have signed the open letter to the National People's Congress (NPC) to urge the NPC to consider Falun Gong issue, return innocence to Falun Gong and its founder, and return the constitutional rights to Falun Gong practitioners.á

Ms. Zhu Xia's recent situation: Zhu Xia is now pregnant for 8 months. Since she came out of the detention center, she has to go to the police station to accept forced "education" everyday. Recently, some people ransacked her home and confiscated all her books of Falun Gong. Zhu Xia's mother just got released from the detention center. Zhu Xia's husband, who is a tea-making specialist, was also sentenced because of practicing Falun Gong.á



5. [Jin-zhou City, Liao-ning Province] A dozen of practitioners have been arrested for signing the petition letter to National People's Congress.

[Ji-nan, Shan-dong Province] On January 11, some practitioners in Ji-nan City started to recover the group practice and group study. Recently, the number of practitioners joining the group practice increased to over 30. The plainclothes agents have monitored them secretly many times. Practitioners knew this well. However, they have been continuing their group practice.
