Police respond to reports that Qu Jianguo recovered from cancer by practicing Falun Gong by attempting to force him to deny the story.

Despite his critical condition, Mr. Song had been denied both adequate treatment or release.

Qu Jianguo, 16, was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer, but received a new lease on life after starting to practice Falun Gong. Since then, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials have attempted several times to force him to sign a guarantee statement to renounce his belief and to declare that Falun Gong had nothing to do with his recovery.

Jianguo is a high school student in Laishui County, Hebei Province. In early June 2009, he felt pain in his leg, which progressively got worse over the next few weeks. After being seen by several doctors, he was eventually diagnosed with bone cancer on August 23, 2009 at the Jishuitan Hospital in Beijing.

His family spent all of their savings and even accepted donations from relatives, neighbors, school teachers, and classmates to pay for his medical expenses, but after spending 150 to 160 thousand yuan on various medical treatments, including chemotherapy, he still did not get better. The hospital ran out of options to treat him, and the family brought him home, resigned to their fate.

Shortly thereafter, Jianguo met Falun Gong practitioners, who told him study the Falun Gong principles and do the exercises. The pain in his leg gradually disappeared, and he recovered his health. He was grateful from the bottom of his heart, and wrote an article on the Minghui/Clearwisdom website to tell his story.

After the article "High School Student Survives Bone Cancer after Practicing Falun Gong" was published on the Minghui website, the 610 Office in Baoding City initiated an investigation into Jianguo's whole family. At one time, four police cars blocked the entrance to his house, and many officers stood in front of the door. He and his parents were individually interrogated about whether they practiced Falun Gong and who wrote the story and posted the picture on the Internet. The family stated that Jianguo recovered from bone cancer only after he started to practice Falun Gong.

The Baoding City 610 Office then prepared a document, which stated that Jianguo did not recover from bone cancer as a result of Falun Gong. They pressured the Laishui County Education Committee, Jianguo's school, and his former teacher to force him to sign this document, but he refused.

Various CCP officials repeatedly threatened Jianguo and his family, to the point where he felt physically unwell. His sister brought him to the Laishui Hospital for a check-up. When they passed the Shiting Checkpoint on the way back, 610 Office agents stopped them and again tried to force them to sign the false document prepared by the 610 Office.

Mr. Song Yusheng was sent to the 2nd Men's Forced Labor Camp of Guanzhuang, Zhangqiu City, on January 15, 2010. He was detained in Ward 7. As a result of being ill-treated in the camp, he suffered from hypertension, coronary disease, cholecystitis, and a liver-kidney syndrome. In addition, his complexion is yellowish-white; he has difficulty walking; he has no energy to talk; and his hands shake uncontrollably. Still, the forced labor camp refuses to release him.

When Mr. Song's family went to explain his situation to Tianheng Police Station, Political Instructor Wu Shijun said, "We are only responsible for sending him there. If something goes wrong, it's not our problem. You need to go to the labor camp to ask for his release." Then he tried to get rid of the family.

Mr. Song was arrested only because he talked to people about Falun Gong in Tianheng Village on January 1, 2010. Those involved in his arrest were: Wang Changliang, director of the Comprehensive Administration Office, Wu Shijun, Political Instructor of Tianheng Police Station, and Li Jingling, Officer from Huanglongzhuang Police Station. During his arrest, Mr. Song was dragged and beaten by several the police. He was then taken to Jimo Detention Center. On the way to the 2nd Men's Forced Labor Camp, the police handcuffed him behind his back so tightly during the five to six-hour ride that he was in extreme pain and couldn't walk afterwards.

Mr. Song used to suffer from Hepatitis B before he started practicing Falun Gong. His complexion was like wax paper and he didn't have any strength. After doctors at a hospital declared that there was no cure for him, he was introduced to Falun Gong. He started practicing it and strictly followed the standard of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. As a result, within a month, blood tests showed that his Hepatitis B had disappeared.
