The police claimed Mr. Wang was a leader, because they received quick protest phone calls from overseas in exposing the case.
Mr. Wang Xingxian Arrested and His Arm Broken
Mr. Wang Xingxian, 59 years old, from Daming Township, Diaobingshan City, Liaoning Province, is retired from Daming Mine. He was illegally arrested by Hongfang Police Station on the evening of December 7, 2009. His arm was broken when the police forcibly abducted him. The station's Deputy Chief Wang Hongwei and four others ransacked Mr. Wang's home and looted a few personal belongings. Mr. Wang is being held at Diaobingshen City Detention Center.
On the evening of December 8, the police told Mr. Wang's family that they should get money to have his broken left wrist treated. Next day, Mr. Wang's family went to the city police department and asked Deputy Police Chief Bai Yuming to release him unconditionally and compensate him for all the damages that he suffered, otherwise they would sue the parties involved.
Bai claimed they would discuss the matter and let Mr. Wang's family wait for the message. That afternoon, however, instead of setting him free, the police sent the injured Mr. Wang to the detention center. On the third day, the case was reported to the Procuratorate. Ten days later, the Procuratorate's Warrant Section Chief Yue Xiangdong ordered the arrest of Mr. Wang.
Because Wang Hongwei received dozens of protest phone calls from overseas, he threatened Mr. Wang's family and said that Mr. Wang had hurt himself by falling down. He then lied to his superiors, claiming that Mr. Wang was a leader, in reference to the quick response from overseas in exposing the case.
Mr. Wang Xingxian used to be extremely emaciated and had all kinds of illnesses. He had tried many medical treatments but to no avail. After he started to practice Falun Gong in 1992, all of his illnesses disappeared. He changed from a weak patient to a strong, healthy person.
