Tangshan City practitioner Ms. Luo Zhijian
On December 9, 2008, Ms. Luo's case was being heard in the Lubei District Court of Tangshan City. Evidence had been destroyed and forged statements were used. On that day, two female officers from the Lubei Court and the Tangshan City Intermediate Court were assigned to take Ms. Luo from the 1st Detention Center. Before taking her to the courthouse, they let prisoners to beat her first, then the two female officers kicked and punched her in person, and choked her so hard that they almost killed her. Ms. Luo was bruised and scarred.
After her court appearance, Ms. Luo was returned to the 1st Detention Center. To protest the illegal proceedings she had been subjected to in the courtroom, everyday she called out, "Falun Dafa is good!" Everyone in the center heard her. When she started to call out, the guards ordered prisoners to drag her into the washroom and throw her on the floor. Some pulled her hair and others kicked her. Large clumps of her hair were pulled out. She was handcuffed the few days before going to court and shackled the few days before January 4, 2009. The two weeks in between she was kept in both handcuffs and shackles at the same time. In total she was chained for three weeks. In the end, the shackle mechanism broke and the lock wouldn't opened. The guards had to saw them off. Ms. Luo was fastened to the "dead person's bed" for an entire day until December 24, 2008. She was only let off the day the verdict was delivered.

Since July 6, 2008, Ms. Luo has been transferred to three different cells.
She is now in cell 505. There is an assigned prisoner in the cell with her. When
she ordered Ms. Luo to do the labor required, Ms. Luo refused. She then forced
Ms. Luo to be on duty from midnight until 4 a.m. or from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. while
others only worked two hours. Ms. Luo did this for almost two months. All the
guards in the 1st Detention Center were aware of this but they turned a blind
eye and couldn't have cared less
The brutal persecution methods used by the prison guards in Guizhou Province Women's Forced Labor Camp specifically targeting Falun Gong practitioners include:
Monitoring 24 hours a day
All the practitioners incarcerated at this camp are monitored 24 hours a day by drug-addicted prisoners. The guards assigned six drug addicts to take shifts monitoring the practitioners. They have a "book of records" in which they jot down what they observe about the practitioners while keeping them under strict surveillance. They record the practitioners' eating habits, even their sleeping positions, noting each facial expression and action. Every day when the guards report to work, the first thing they do is read the previous days' notes. Then they carry out persecution on the practitioners accordingly. At the same time, the guards use reduction of the criminals' prison terms as an incentive for them to further persecute the practitioners.
Mental torture
In order to achieve the goal of "transforming" the practitioners, the guards force practitioners to read books and watch videos that slander Falun Gong and Master Li. They are forced to watch CCP programs and were forced to watch the opening ceremony of the Olympics. After the Sichuan Province earthquake, there was a book that started circulating in the prison. This book distorted the facts about the earthquake and the practitioners were forced to read it and write "understandings" that defame Falun Gong. If the practitioners did not cooperate, or refused to write, to read or to give up their belief, they were subjected to torture.
Physical torture
The guards who have been participating in the persecution include Gui Xinying, Jian Xia and Yuan Fang and others.
