Mr. Qin Daqun passed out after being abused by guards in the detention center. He died on September 5, 2008 after her family picked him up from hospital.
Mr. Qin Daqun Died as a Result of Abuse in Custody in Chongqing City
On May 19, 2008, the police arrested Mr. Qin Daqun. Next day the police ransacked his home on Xiao Street in Shapingba District. The police detained him in Jiangbei Detention Center, where a guard assaulted him from behind and another guard kicked him in the chest, causing him to pass out on the floor. The guards took him to Xishanping Labor Camp, had him checked out at the camp clinic, then transferred him to the Ninth Hospital in Beibei District and quickly moved him again to Chongqing City Oncology Hospital. When he was admitted, he was emaciated and dying.
Mr. Qin's family picked him up on August 28, 2008. He died at around 3:00 p.m. on September 5, 2008.
Mr. Qin Daqun, 56, was employed by the 3rd Construction Company in Chongqing City . He began practicing Falun Gong in 1996. After the persecution started, he was taken into custody at the Geleshan Brainwashing Center located in Shapingba District. On October 5, 2005, he was arrested by officers from the Shapingba District Police Department and sentenced to one year of forced labor, which he served in the Xishanping Forced Labor Camp.
