Mr. Xi Changhai Arrested Three Times in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province

At around 8 a.m. on September 4, 2008, Wang Shuming, led the police from Cailuo Town Station in Shenbeixin District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, broke into the home, arrested Mr. Xi Changhai, and confiscated his computer. This is the third time that he has been arrested since the persecution started nine years ago. Mr. Xi and his family have been persecuted repeatedly, because he practices Falun Gong.

On September 5, 2008, the police broke open the doors of Mr. Xi's two apartment units while nobody was home. They searched and ransacked the units, taking a copy of Zhuan Falun and a picture of Master Li. When the family members returned, they saw the broken doors and a complete mess in their home.

Over a month ago, practitioner Mr. Sun Yushu was arrested in Daxinsan Village, Cailuo Town. His computer, printer, and other items worth thirty to forty thousand yuan were taken away. The police demanded that Mr. Sun Yushu tell them where he got the equipment. They suspected that Mr. Xi Changhai was the source, so they conducted long-term surveillance of Mr. Xi's home and tracked his whereabouts. There were often police cars in front of his apartment. The Cailuobao Town Police Station hired villager Wang Shuming and others to wait outside his home and report to the station as soon as he arrived home. Mr. Xi was forced away from his home for more than a month.

Mr. Xi Changhai is about 60 years old. He is a retired teacher from Cailuo Town Central Elementary School. He used to have many illnesses, and he smoked and drank. After practicing Falun Gong, he regained his health and quit smoking and drinking. His family witnessed the wonders of Falun Gong.

After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, numerous practitioners from Shenyang City spontaneously went to the provincial government to appeal for the legitimate right to practice Falun Gong. However, the response was violent police beatings. At the time, Mr. Xi's son, who had just started practicing Falun Gong, also went to the provincial government. Because he was big and tall and played on the varsity basketball team, he attracted the attention of the police. Several officers surrounded him and beat him. His clothes were torn and his shoes were ruined. He was fired from his job and was badly shaken, both mentally and physically.

Mr. Xi was the volunteer assistant coordinator at Xinchengzi District Falun Gong instruction center. He became the focus of persecution for the Xinchengzi 610 Office director, Tong Shuliang. Mr. Xi was taken to the brainwashing center organized by the 610 Office. Mr. Xi's son sealed himself in the house and didn't want to see anybody after being brutally beaten. Mr. Xi's wife could only cry all alone.

At the end of 2000, Mr. Xi was distributing Falun Gong informational materials when he was spotted and reported by the Quansheng Village, Cailuo Town, CCP secretary, Liu Zhenjiu, who has since suffered karmic retribution and developed stomach cancer. Mr. Xi was arrested by the deputy mayor of Cailuo Town, Liu Mingchun, and Police Chief Wang. Mr. Xi was sentenced to forced labor and taken to the Zhangshi Reeducation Center in Shenyang City. This time, his son totally collapsed. His had lost his job, and his father was in jail. The grief engulfed him, and he often went to a field by himself during the middle of the night for lonely walks. When his mother woke up and couldn't find him, she asked friends and family to help search for him. It was in the middle of winter at the time. A group of people went looking for him, calling his name in the middle of the night. They don't remember how many times this happened. When they found him, sometimes they saw him walking aimlessly in the field, sometimes he would be sitting in a daze, and sometimes he would be curled up in the hay.

She took her son to see many doctors and went to several mental hospitals. He didn't improve at all. She knew in her heart that he had no mental illnesses but that he had had to endure such unfair treatment at the hands of the CCP.

Only after Mr. Xi returned from the labor camp did his son start improving. Mr. Xi told his son that there was nothing wrong with being a good person. The CCP was so evil that it couldn't coexist with Truth-Compassion-Forbearance. With their righteous belief, the family gradually stepped out of the darkness. Mr. Xi's son started contacting relatives and friends again. He returned to society and even opened a table tennis hall to make a living. However, with Mr. Xi's most recent arrest, this family is experiencing grief as a result of the CCP's persecution once again.
