Ms. Chen Yumei is beaten publicly by the police and dies hours later in a hospital.
Mr Wu Yueqing was arrested in 2000 and imprisoned for many years, leaving his son in the care of his sister. Soon after his release from prison in critical condition his sister was arrested, leaving no one to care for him or his son.

Ms. Chen Yumei Beaten to Death by Police in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province
On the morning of July 4, 2008, Chang'an Police Station in Dadong District, Shenyang City tried to arrest Ms. Chen Yumei, 48, on Pangjiang Street near Ms. Chen's neighborhood. They brutally beat and kicked her. Many bystanders witnessed the brutality, and saw that Ms. Chen passed out from the beating.
At around 9 a.m. on the same morning, a 110 emergency police vehicle arrived at Ms. Chen's home, and her family was asked to identify her in an ambulance. (The police had called for the ambulance.) Her family identified her, but she was in a coma. An ambulance worker said her condition was critical, and that she must go to the hospital. There were five or six officers in the emergency vehicle from Chang'an Police Station, and they all left right away.
Ms. Chen was taken to the 463rd Military Hospital. The doctor found a large amount of bleeding in her skull, and said that he must perform an operation immediately. Her family collected a ten thousand yuan deposit for her to have the four-hour operation done. After the operation, she was unconscious. Her family saw that her arms and legs were covered with bruises, and her body had severe scratches as a result of being dragged on the ground. Doctors said the marks were caused by being beaten or dragged. The doctors spent 10 hours trying to revive her in vain, and she died at around 8:30 p.m. on July 4, 2008. Her family said that she left home around 8 a.m. a healthy woman, but died 12 hours later from police brutality.
When her family took her to the hospital, several 110 police vehicles surrounded Ms. Chen's home. Officers prevented other family members from entering or exiting, ransacked her home, and took many Falun Gong books, DVDs, and materials.
Ms. Chen Yumei was a kind, righteous person. She kept practicing Falun Gong and tried to be a good person, but was brutally mistreated multiple times by the Chinese Communist Party. She was once detained in a brainwashing center in 2002, and went on a hunger strike to escape the torture. Her husband was once sent to forced labor for practicing Falun Gong.
The Plight of Orphan Wu Yingqi
Wu Yingqi is a 14-year-old orphan from Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province. When Wu Yingqi was very young, his mother died in a traffic accident and his father, Mr. Wu Yueqing, was arrested by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police and "illegally sentenced" to prison for practicing Falun Gong.
Mr. Wu was subjected to inhuman torture at the hands of guards in the Mudanjiang City Prison, and came very close to losing his life. Wanting to avoid responsibility for his untimely death, the prison authorities sent him home, where he died shortly thereafter.
Wu Yingqi
Shuangyashan City Police Department imprisoned Wu Yingqi's only guardian, Aunt Ms. Wu Yuexia, who also practices Falun Gong, in the Jiamusi City Forced Labor Camp, where she remains to this day. The local Civil Administration Bureau took young Wu Yingqi to the Jiamusi City Orphanage, as there was no one home to look after him.
Wu Yingqi's only guardian, Aunt Ms. Wu Yuexia
Summary of events that lead to Wu Yingqi's father's death:
Mr. Wu Yueqing, a 30-year-old practitioner from Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, was illegally arrested numerous times and sentenced to forced labor camps, where he was brutally tortured.
In June and July 2000, Mr. Wu Yueqing went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. While there, he was arrested and forcibly taken to the Tiebei Community Detention Center in Kuancheng District, Changchun City.
To protest his imprisonment, he went on a hunger strike. The guards and the prison doctor barbarically force-fed him and even forced a mineral water bottle down his throat, which damaged his throat area.
In addition, the tube used for force-feeding was inserted into Mr. Wu's trachea, instead of his stomach, thereby damaging his lungs. As a result, Mr. Wu was taken to the hospital. While in the hospital, a police officer incited criminals to fiercely beat Mr. Wu and pour cold water on him.
Mr. Wu was imprisoned for more than nine months in the Tiebei Detention Center, however in 2001, Sifangtai District Police Branch released him, after extorting 3000 yuan from him.
In December 2001, Mr. Wu was arrested at a truth clarification materials production site by the CCP authorities and was severely tortured.
In January 2002, he was sentenced to 12 years in the Mudanjiang Prison in Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, where he was locked up in the 23rd section in the 11th Ward.
The living conditions in Mudanjiang Prison are horrible, and many prisoners there carry infectious diseases. Being imprisoned for more than two years took a toll on Mr. Wu's mind and body. He later contracted a serious case of pulmonary tuberculosis which caused him to become emaciated, yet, the police paid absolutely no attention his health condition.
Only when Mr. Wu Yueqing's life was in danger did the police allow him any so-called "hospital treatment." However, while at the hospital, he was injected with some unknown drug, which caused Mr. Wu's condition to rapidly deteriorate.
One of Mr. Wu's lungs had a large, festering hole in it, and his body weight had dropped to about eighty pounds. Even though he was in such a life-threatening situation, the Mudanjiang City Prison authorities still created obstacles for Mr. Wu, including delaying his scheduled medical treatment.
Only when Mr. Wu was about to die did the prison let his family take him home. The prison administrators released him only to avoid responsibility for his death. Mr. Wu was released somewhere between late 2006 and the first half of 2007.
While at home, Mr. Wu's life was hanging on a thread. Fortunately, he had an elder sister, Ms. Wu Yuexia, a Falun Gong practitioner and teacher at the Baoshan Middle School, who encouraged him and looked after him frequently.
However, on September 28, 2007, the CCP coordinated a city-wide arrest of Falun Gong practitioners. Baoshan District police officers Zhao Kui, Fang Xiaoming, and Li Fu came to Ms. Wu Yuexia's home and forcibly took Ms. Wu Yuexia to the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp.
Having just returned home and faced with the tragedy of his elder sister's arrest (who was the only person he could depend on to look after him), Mr. Wu found it impossible to cope. His condition rapidly deteriorated, and he died on December 23, 2007.
The hoodlums directly responsible for persecuting Mr. Wu include 610 Office director Ling Qingfan, and police officers Ling Dawei, Li Hongbo, Du Zhanyi and Liu Weitong.
Calling For the Release of My Wife, Wang Sanying
By Zhao Xuelu
My wife, Wang Sanying, is a faculty member of Youfu Hospital in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. On June 3, 2008, officers from the local police station and the National Security Bureau ransacked our home. They illegally arrested my wife and detained her in the Second Detention Center of Shijiazhuang because she practices Falun Gong.
My wife started practicing Falun Gong because she wanted to keep fit and improve her moral standard. In the past, she didn't have good health and often felt dizzy. She also suffered from arthritis and gynecological diseases. After she took up the practice, all her diseases disappeared. Because the principles of Falun Gong are based on "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance," I have never interfered with her practicing. Under the teaching of Falun Gong, her moral character drastically improved. Before she became a practitioner, she had a very hot temper and easily got into confrontations with others. Now her tolerance has greatly improved.
I am a graduate in the legal profession. The Constitution protects our freedom of religious belief. In Article 36, it says that all Chinese citizens have the freedom to spread their religious beliefs. The right of all religious believers to disseminate their religious beliefs does not have to be "granted" by the government, unless they violate the provisions of the law.
Over the years, Falun Gong practitioners have continued to be arrested, detained, and sentenced. Some practitioners die shortly after they are brought home by their families from forced labor camps or prisons. Practitioners are persecuted just because they say, "Falun Gong is good," or they do not think in line with the Chinese Communist Party or they will not give up their belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance," or they refuse to be "transformed."
Falun Gong practitioners have adopted the most peaceful ways to let people know that Falun Gong is good and that the persecution should be ended. Their petition doesn't go against common sense or break the law. When they are being treated unfairly, they have the right to speak up, as this is a basic right of all citizens. When practitioners speak up, it doesn't mean they commit a crime, go against the government, or are using "an illegal organization" to undermine the law.
My wife is innocent. In fact, the conviction of Falun Gong practitioners based on Criminal Law 300 in itself violates the Constitution, Article 36.
I have been laid off for a long time, and my wife's salary is our family's main source of income. At present, her grandfather is hospitalized and needs someone to take care of him. Our son just entered college, and he also needs money. I hope that my wife will be released soon. Everyone in the family is waiting for her to come home.
Signed, Zhao Xuelu, the husband of Wang Sanying
