Ms. Zhou Humin was arrested by CCP police in September 26, 2007. The police issued an "arrest warrant" five months later, and then transferred her to a hospital while she went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Ms. Zhou died on March 2008 after authorities refused to release her.
Mr. Zhang Zhijun's family found he was tortured to death after checking his body in Xi'an Prison. They tried to find a lawyer to seek for justice, but no one dare to accept the case due to the threat by the Chinese Communist Party authorities.
From March 3 through 13, 2008, about Forty Falun Gong practitioners were illegally arrested in Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province. Seventeen of them went a hunger strike to protest the persecution.
Ms. Zhou Huimin Dies in Police Custody in Sichuan Province
On the evening of September 26, 2007, Shengdeng Police Station and the Domestic Security Team of Chenghua District Police Branch arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhou Huimin. The police ransacked her home and she was then taken to Xinjin Brainwashing Center. Later she was detained at Chengdu City Detention Center. On February 1, 2008, the Domestic Security Team of Wuhou District Police Branch issued an "arrest warrant" for Ms. Zhou, although she had already been in custody for five months. She went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution.
On February 5, 2008, guards took her to Qingyang District People's Hospital. Some people heard her calling out in a clear voice, "Falun Dafa is great!"
On March 10, 2008, a friend of Ms. Zhou heard a Domestic Security agent of Wuhou District Police Branch say that Ms. Zhou was dying. The State Security Department of Sichuan Province ordered that she not be released. The police claimed, "If she dies, let her die where she is."
Ms. Zhou died at 5:30 a.m. on March 13, 2008.
Ms. Zhou was illegally arrested six times since July 1999, and she was detained three times at the Nanmusi Women's Forced Labor Camp. She endured all sorts of torture and spent a total of 856 days in detention. From September 7 to September 19, 2002, she was tortured in Qingyang District Hospital. From 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day she was handcuffed and shackled.
There have been eight confirmed deaths of Falun Gong practitioners in Qingyang District Hospital during their detainment. The recorded cause of their deaths states,"hunger strike resulting in organ failure."
Mr. Zhang Zhijun Tortured to Death in Xi'an City Prison, Shaanxi Province
Mr. Zhang Zhijun was from Nanchong City, Sichuan Province. He had been illegally arrested and imprisoned because he practiced Falun Gong.
On February 23, 2008, his family received a call that Mr. Zhang had died, and they rushed to the Xi'an City Prison in Shaanxi Province. The prison administration did not allow the family to see Mr. Zhang's body, until his wife claimed she would kill herself on the spot if authorities reject their request. When the family checked Mr. Zhang Zhijun's body, they found his face was so swollen and too horrible to look at. Black and blue rope marks were clearly visible around his neck.
His family demanded legal representation, but lawyers said that CCP authorities had already ordered legal counsel. No one dared to accept this case. The police cremated the body on February 24, 2008.
From March 3 through 13, 2008, about 40 Falun Gong practitioners from Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province were illegally arrested. At this time, 17 practitioners who have been detained at Qitaihe Detention Center are on hunger strike to protest the persecution.
Around 8:00 a.m. on March 13, Yang Wei was arrested by the Qitaihe City 610 Office head Bi Shuqing and Xinxing District Police Branch, Qitaihe City Domestic Security Team and Xinxing Police Station. His home was illegally searched and many personal belongings were taken. Yang Wei's child is left alone at home, filled with fear yet hoping his father will come back home soon.
Around 4:00 p.m. on March 6, Wang Yuhua, around 40 years old, from Qitaihe City, had her home ransacked by Qitaihe City Police Department Team Leader Bi and several police officers. They confiscated a computer, printer, three cell phones and other personal belongings. Ms. Wang Yuhua was arrested and detained at the Qitaihe City Detention Center.
At 10:00 a.m on March 5, practitioners Liu Shuling, Zhang Tianjun, Wang Chongyuan, Ma Fengxia, Xu Yan and others were arrested at the Jingmei Thermal Power Plant.
Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Tianjun's home was ransacked by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police. The police took Master Li's photo, Falun Gong books and 2,000 yuan belonging to Mr. Zhang. Zhang Tianjun has been illegally detained at a detention center. Just after a few days of detention, Zhang Tianjun was tortured and became delirious. His family got a phone call from the police and were asked to persuade him to give up practicing Falun Gong. When his family saw him, they found that his eye sockets were black and blue, his eyes were dull and he was delirious. His family could not communicate with him. They were grieved and angry. They said, "A good and healthy person was persecuted to this state."
Falun Gong practitioner Wang Chongyuan's home was also illegally ransacked. Falun Gong books, discs, her daughter's computer case and more than 2,000 yuan were taken. The police also stole 2,000 yuan from her daughter, 18-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Xu Yan. According to sources, the police brutally beat Xu Yan and caused such severe injury to her face that she could not open her mouth. Practitioner Liu Shuling was brutally tortured in the detention center, which caused her to suffer heart disease. She spit out large quantities of blood and her life is in great danger. Liu Shuling was taken back home by her family on March 10.
On March 5 at 11:00 p.m., Falun Gong practitioner Yao Shufan was arrested by the Qitaihe City 610 Office head Bi Shuqing and the police from Xinxing District Police Branch. Her home was illegally ransacked. Her child's computer, printer, mp3 player, ebooks and many personal belongings were taken.
On March 8, Yao Shufan's husband Dajiang was arrested by the CCP police. Their two children were left alone at home and they lived in fear, eagerly waiting for their parents to come back.
At this time Dajiang has returned. Yao Shufan is still illegally detained at the detention center. She was brutally tortured and cannot walk now.
