Mr. Wang Xinzhong, a Falun Gong practitioner from Shijiazhuang City has been arrested numerous times since 1999 for persisting in his belief--Falun Gong. He sustained lower back injuries from the beatings and brutal tortures while in custody. He is currently held at a detention center. His wife, and daughter Wang Bo were sentenced to four years and five years in prison, respectively. A happy family was torn apart because of the persecution.
Recently, Wang Xinzhong experienced increased health problems, including a relapse of heart disease and high blood pressure readings of 200 mmHg over 120 mmHg. His relatives have written letters to the relevant government officials, asking them to approve his immediate release on medical parole.
Wang Xinzhong and his family have not violated any laws. Six Beijing-based lawyers, Li Heping, Deng Biao, Zhang Lihui, Li Shunzhang, Li Xiongbing and Wu Hongwei have submitted detailed statements to the court, defending the innocence of the Wang family. Wang Xinzhong's health will only worsen in captivity due to the terrible living conditions at the detention center.
Wang Xinzhong's lawyers Zhang Lihui and Li Shunzhang emphasized in the end of their statement (attached), "Based on the above reasons, the defense believes Wang Xinzhong's acts did not constitute any crime. The preliminary trial verdict contained serious misinformation and inappropriate application of the law. The procedure was also illegitimate. All of these should have been corrected during the second trial. Wang Xinzhong, his wife and daughter had been held in labor camps for three years, and have now been sentenced to four years and five years in prison. They are not only deprived of personal freedom but their family life is practically non-existent."
Wang Xinzhong was an official at Shijiazhuang City Railroad Bureau. His wife Liu Shuqin worked at Shijiazhuang Bank of Industry and Commerce. Their daughter Wang Bo is very bright and has studied piano diligently since a young age. She was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music. Wang Xinzhong suffered from poor health and often had unexplained bouts of high fever for which he was hospitalized. He recovered completely, however, after he started practicing Falun Gong. He and his wife also mended their relationship, despite the fact that they had been fighting and were about to divorce. Their relatives were very happy for them. However, since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, Wang Xinzhong and his family never lived a day in peace because the Party persecuted them for persisting in their belief. The immediate family members were sentenced to three years in a labor camp. The family reunited in late 2005 for a short while but was separated again on July 28, 2006.
According to the judge, the process for medical parole is to first obtain approval from the case handler(s). The detention center will present the medical diagnosis and related information to the court for the judge's approval. The Political Security Division of Shijiazhuang City Police Department is the case handler. Wang Xinzhong is currently held at the Zhao County Detention Center in Shijiazhuang City. The judge for the second trial is from the Collegial Panel of the Shijiazhuang Intermediate Court.
As mentioned earlier, Wang Xinzhong's blood pressure rose from 180
mmHg
to 200 mmHg. His family and friends are appealing to the related
government departments to approve medical parole in light of his
condition.
Ms. Xue Guiqing, 54, a Falun Gong practitioner from Niuzhen Village, Gaocun Township, Wuqing District, Tianjin City, died on March 16, 2007, as a result of being tortured at Tianjin Female Prison. Since July 20 1999, Ms. Xue had been detained at police stations, detention centers, forced labor camps and prisons.
Ms. Xue Guiqing went to Beijing on October 1, 2000 to appeal for Falun Gong. She was taken back by Gaoxiang Village police and detained illegally at Wuqing Township Detention Center. She was sentenced to three years of forced labor and taken to the Tianjin City Banqiao Female Forced Labor Camp. After being on hunger strike for more than 300 days to protest the persecution, her body weight dropped from 70kg to 30kg. She was released on bail for medical treatment when she was in critical condition.
After Ms. Xue returned home, she studied the Fa and did the exercises. It did not take long for her to recover. In 2002, she went again to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was arrested and taken back to the Tianjin Banqiao Female Forced Labor Camp. The labor camp refused to take her. The local authorities and police brought her back and pressured her husband. Her husband had been under pressure for years and could no longer bear it. One night he tried to strangle Ms. Xue when she was asleep, but did not succeed.
They were afraid that she would go again to Beijing. They goaded her husband into breaking her legs. Her husband tied her up and beat her legs hard until they were all bloody and smashed. Her children sent her to the hospital and doctors said that the treatment would cost at least 300,000 yuan, and even then she might not recover. Ms. Xue did not wish to be treated. She returned home and cultivated in Falun Gong. Her legs healed within six months and only a scar could be seen.
During this time, staff from the Tianjin Banqiao Female Forced Labor Camp harassed Ms. Xue at her home many times. Ms. Xue did not cooperate. They took her to the forced labor camp. Ms. Xue went on a hunger strike again. Two months later her sentence expired and her family members took her back home.
In February 2004, Ms. Xue Guiqing went to Beijing to appeal one more time. She was arrested and taken back to Tianjin by Gaocun Township police and detained at the Wuqing District Detention Center. During the illegal detention she was secretly monitored. The first trial ended with her telling about her own experience of how good Falun Gong is. At the second trial, the authorities asked her to stop going to Beijing to appeal. Ms. Xue insisted that she would not give up cultivating Truth, Compassion and Forbearance. The Wuqing District court sentenced her to four years at Tianjin Female Prison.
In the prison, Ms. Xue protested her treatment, refused to write repentance statements and went on a hunger strike for 10 months. Vice Director Li Hong arranged four prisoners to watch Ms. Xue. They handcuffed her day and night, fed her through a tube and did not remove it. They did not allow her to go to the restroom. In the cold winter they did not put any covers on her and her face became purple from the freezing temperature. Sometimes they even took her clothes off and turned fans toward her.
In July 2005, Ms. Xue Guiqing was very weak because of the torture she suffered. Prison staff did not want to take responsibility and informed Ms. Xue's family to take her home on bail for medical treatment.
After returning home, Ms. Xue studied the Fa and did exercises and she soon recovered. During that time, prison guards came to her home many times, but she did not cooperate with them. In February 2006 she was taken back to the prison.
On March 14, 2007, Tianjin Female Prison informed Ms. Xue's family to take her home. By this time she was nearly dead and weighed less than 30kg. Two days later Ms. Xue passed away.
For the past eight years, the police and the 610 Office of Shouguang City, as well as members of the Gucheng County local government and Gucheng Police Unit, closely followed orders from Jiang Zemin's regime and cruelly persecuted Falun Gong practitioners in Gucheng County using various inhuman methods.
Wang Junwen, CCP secretary of Gucheng County's local government, illegally arrested and extorted money from Falun Gong practitioners
Wang Junwen (former CCP secretary of Gucheng county, who has been transferred to the Health Bureau of Shouguang City) cruelly persecuted Falun Gong practitioners in Guchen County. During his tenure there, over 50 practitioners were illegally detained, simply because they practiced Falun Gong. In addition, many practitioners were sent to brainwashing centers and pressured to give up their beliefs, and many were cruelly tortured.
Wang also colluded with the Gucheng County police unit and arrested Falun Gong practitioners several times. On the evening of October 14, 1999, the local government and police unit sent people to raid the entire county, arresting over 80 Falun Gong practitioners. They then took practitioners Li Kongfa, Zhao Xiushun, Li Hongjie and Li Hongze to the police station. Once they arrived at the police station, Zhao Xiushun and Li Hongjie were viscously beaten. Zhao Xiushun was pushed into the corner of a wall by police officers Zhao Maoyun (now retired) and Yang Yansheng. Zhao Maoyun stood on the victim's thighs, and Yan Yansheng stood on the victim's ankle and stomped on it several dozen times. Zhao Xiushun's thighs and ankle became swollen immediately and he was not able to move because of the pain. Later on, police officers Li Wanjun, Sang Qinjun, Yang Yansheng, and others, tore off Zhao Xiushun's shirt to cover his head and then beat and kicked him, using his own belt to whip him, leaving bloody marks on his back. He was beaten by the police with his hands cuffed to an iron chair. The following day, the four practitioners were sent to the Shouguang Detention Center and detained for 15 days. They were charged with practicing Falun Gong and "disturbing social order." After they were released from the detention center, the practitioners were again detained by the local government for 10 days, and each was also fined 550 yuan.
On January 5, 2000, Wang Junwen brought back 11 Falun Gong practitioners who were detained at the Shouguang Detention Center for one month. In the evening, under orders from Wang, over 80 government staff members were forced to participate in the persecution of the 11 practitioners. Starting at 8:00 p.m. each practitioner was surrounded by over a dozen people from the county government. They were forced to take off their coats in the cold winter evening air, leaving only a thin layer of clothing. They were forced to hold blocks of ice over their heads with their bare hands and stand on the ice-cold ground barefoot. Whoever protested was severely beaten. The police forced Zhao Xiushun to stand barefoot in the snow in -10°C temperatures. At around 9:30 p.m., torture and interrogation of the 11 practitioners officially started. The Appeals Reception Office of the county government was used as a makeshift interrogation chamber. Over a dozen officers from the county government dragged the practitioners one after another into the room. They forced the practitioners to the floor face-down, with their limbs spread-eagle. They then took turns beating the practitioners with sticks until the victims could not move any more. Every practitioner's buttocks were severely bruised or were bleeding. These practitioners were not able to move their bodies for weeks after the torture; their clothing was meshed together with flesh and blood and was hard to peel off. Later, the practitioners were detained in the county government office for a week. Each practitioner was illegally fined 9,000 yuan. Their families were forced to pay the money out of fear that their loved ones would be beaten to death if they did not pay.
In the summer of 2000, the county government also detained Falun Gong practitioner Gao Zhengbang, an over 70-year-old man from Beifeng village. In order to squeeze more penalty money out of Mr. Gao, Wang sent villains wearing borrowed police uniforms to Mr. Gao's daughter's home. They threatened the man's daughter and forced her to pay 9,000 yuan. They also took the 40,000 yuan compensation money Mr. Gao had received after his spouse died in a traffic accident.
In August of 2000, Wang Junwen again illegally arrested over a dozen Falun Gong practitioners. After being detained for 45 days, the practitioners were taken from Shouguang Detention Center to the county government office to receive further torture. Wang ordered others to strip the practitioners and expose them to the baking sun. By dusk, the victims were badly sunburned. Their backs and shoulders were so burnt that they had big water blisters all over them. In the evening, Wang turned a garage into a torture chamber. The practitioners were dragged into to the garage, their heads covered with their clothing, and then they were brutally beaten. Just as before, each practitioner was held down by a dozen villains. Several strong villains beat the practitioners with sticks, and shocked them with electric batons. The miserable cries from the extreme pain could be heard several hundred meters away. The villains beat Li Hongjie with sticks. When he had counted 120 strokes, he passed out. After being beaten, Zhao Xiushun was dragged out of the garage and he passed out three times within 10 steps, but was revived by the shouting and shaking of the villains. Zhao Xiushun later recalled that at the time he had his eyes wide open but he was not able to see anything, and every breath required great effort. Gao Yulong and Guo Shibin were so badly beaten that they passed out and fell into the urine pit when using the restroom. Zhao Shiheng tried to urinate, but he passed out again just after he got up. Guo Shibin and Zhao Shiheng could not get out of bed for two months after they came back from the county government office. During the first month, they threw up everything they ate. After being beaten, the flesh on the buttocks of Gao Yulong and Sang Peiyao was separated from the bones. Wang Junwen extorted family members of the beaten practitioners for 23,000 yuan. If the families did not pay, Wang threatened to again beat the practitioners after their wounds healed. The families had to borrow money to pay the fine, fearing that their family members would be beaten to death otherwise. By the end of August 2000, Wang Junwen extorted over 700,000 yuan from the over 80 practitioners in Gucheng County. Each practitioner paid from 500 to 80,000 yuan. Wang Junwen used this ill-gotten wealth for his own enjoyment, including sight-seeing trips.
Police officer Wang Xuehai and others tortured Falun Gong practitioners using electric batons
In October 2002, police officer Wang Xuehai of the county police unit led police officers from the Shouguang Police Squad and took practitioners Li Kongfa and Li Hongjie to the city police bureau. They cuffed the practitioners' hands behind their backs and made them lie face down on the ground. Then the officers shocked them using two electric batons, from 9:00 a.m. until the evening. The practitioners were shocked numerous times; every shock burned their flesh, and the intense pain caused them to perspire heavily. When one person grew tired from shocking the practitioners, another one took over. As a result of this torture, the practitioners had their skin broken and bruised all over. Finally, the villains forced family members of the two practitioners to pay 3,000 yuan each. They threatened that if the families did not pay, they would send the practitioners to a forced labor camp. The families had to pay the money in order to bring their loved ones home.
In March 2003, officer Wang Xuehai seized Gao Yulong and his wife from Beifeng Village and took them to the Shouguang Police Squad. He cuffed their hands behind their backs, leaving them face down on the floor. Then he held Gao Yulong's body in place using a stool and shocked him using several electric batons. When Gao Yulong cried out in pain, the villain shocked his mouth. Gao Yulong had to clench his teeth and dared not make another sound. He was shocked for 8 rounds, from 9:00 a.m. until the evening. His entire body smelled of burnt flesh.
On September 19, 2003, over a dozen people broke into Falun Gong practitioners (husband and wife) Zhao Shiheng and Sang Fengyin's home in Zujia Village. They handcuffed Zhao Shiheng without any explanation and started ransacking the house. When taking the practitioners to the police car, the policemen started beating the practitioners in front of several villagers. When the head of the village intervened, the villains threatened him and said: "Are you trying to interfere with state affairs?" The two practitioners were locked in two separate rooms at the police station. At around 2:00 p.m., after the policemen had their lunch and drinks, the brutal beatings began. Sang Fengyin's hands were cuffed behind her back and she was forced face down on the ground. Her mouth was gagged with a piece of dirty cloth. She was shocked with several electric batons all over her body, until her face was all bruised and swollen. Her face became totally unrecognizable, and she was unable to see for quite some time after the torture. Zhao Shiheng was locked up in another cell. The policemen duct-taped his mouth and cuffed his hands behind his back. They shocked him using electric baton. Not until over six months later, when husband and wife met again in Huaibei Prison, did Ms. Sang learn that several of her husband's teeth had been knocked out. In Huaibei Prison, Mr. Zhao was forced to perform labor for over 10 hours a day. He was exhausted and his legs and feet were so badly swollen that he could not wear shoes.
In October 2003, police officer Sun Longfeng of the Shaoguang Police Squad (in his 30's, one of the strongest policemen and most brutal in administering beatings, tel: 86-536-5298626), accompanied by Wang Xuehai of the local police unit, abducted Li Kongfa again from Zhaojia village. He robbed Li Kongfa of 200 yuan cash and brought him to Shouguang Police Squad to be beaten, shocked and whipped. Ma Wenhe and Guo Hongtang also participated in the beating. After they grew tired from torturing Mr. Li, the policemen detained him in the Shouguang Detention Center for one month.
On the afternoon of December 30, 2003, Wang Xuehai led policemen from the Shouguang Police Squad and arrested practitioner Ms. Li Shuyun, in her forties, from Beifeng village. The policemen ordered her to take off her pants and then chained her legs. They shocked her using electric batons, especially on the inner thighs and other sensitive areas. Then they dragged her into a room by pulling on the chains. Another villain jabbed bamboo sticks into her toes. After one night of torture, the perpetrators forced her family to pay 2,000 yuan before releasing Ms. Li. They ordered her not to tell people that she had been tortured in the police unit.
Facts of the torture of Falun Gong practitioner Zhao Liming
In late June 2000, Zhao Liming went to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong to the Central Government and was arrested and brought back to the Shouguang Detention Center. On the day after he was brought back, a policeman asked him if he would continue practicing Falun Gong. Mr. Zhao said without hesitation, " Yes! Why should I stop practicing such a good exercise?" The policeman then told the inmates: "If he continues practicing the exercises, beat him without mercy!" Thus, the inmates started viscously beating Zhao Liming at 10:00 a.m. using various torture methods, until he passed out at around 3:00 p.m. and had to be rushed to the hospital. The policeman in charge was afraid to take any responsibility, so he called the Gucheng County government agents and ordered them to take Zhao Liming back to the government office. The county government took him back and locked him up in a hot and humid garage for 28 days. During this period, Mr. Zhao was continuously beaten by agents from the government office. Eventually, his family paid a 20,000-yuan "fine." Mr. Zhao was then illegally detained for 32 more days before his release.
In September 2001, seven or eight people broke into Zhao Liming's home and took him away without any explanation. On the way to the detention center, Mr. Zhao broke free and went into hiding. He was later captured again and was illegally sent to the Wangcun Labor Camp for two years.
Inside the Wangcun Labor Camp, Mr. Zhao continued to be cruelly tortured. The perpetrators were led by Wang Xingjiang, Wang Li, Liu Guowei and two others whose surnames are Sun and Gao. The tortures were executed by Liu Fengmin. During the first month, since Mr. Zhao refused to give up his beliefs, he was only allowed to sleep for half an hour each day and was closely watched by eight people. After one month, when the villains saw that his health not only did not deteriorate but that Mr. Zhao was growing stronger, they escalated the torture. Police officer Wang Xingjiang cuffed his hands behind his back and beat his legs using a board, and beat his feet using a ruler, trying to force him to give up his beliefs. Mr. Zhao endured such unbearable torture for over six months, and yet he still declared his firm belief in Falun Gong. The perpetrators then started beating him even more viscously. Officer Wang Xingjiang put duct tape on Mr. Zhao's mouth and his tormentors hit him with a board, pinched his chest, dug their fingers into his ribs, and used various other torture methods. The torture went on for five hours, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., until Mr. Zhao passed out. The villains sent him to the hospital in the detention center and then transferred him to the emergency room of #148 Hospital. Mr. Zhao woke up after four hours. He told the doctors and nurses of the tortures he went through in the labor camp. The villains were afraid that Mr. Zhao would further disclose their cruel deeds so they transferred him again to the secluded Intensive Care Unit of #38 Hospital. In the #38 Hospital, Mr. Zhao went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal persecution he had gone through in the labor camp. Three days later, he was again sent back to the labor camp where he suffered another 86 days of cruel torture.
In the Intensive Control cell in the labor camp, Mr. Zhao was shackled on a iron bed every day. His meals and bathroom breaks were restricted. They put a portable toilet beside his bed and forced him to eat his meals while facing the toilet. The villains also mentally tortured him by placing a picture of the founder of Falun Gong under his feet and tried to force him to step on it. When he refused, the villains beat him and had several people force his feet down onto the picture.
On June 25, 2005, Zhao Liming was arrested and taken to the Wangcun Labor Camp yet again. The details of the second arrest are not available.
After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, Mr. Zhao's wife, Ding Shulian, was also relentlessly tortured by vicious people from the county government, the local police unit and the city detention center. In late June 2000, Ms. Ding went to Beijing to appeal to the Central Government but was arrested and taken to the Shouguang Detention Center. Since she refused to renounce Falun Gong, the villains locked her on an iron chair for three days straight. She was then forced to pay a fine to the county government of approximately 10,000 yuan. In September 2001, the villains from the county government went to her house to arrest her husband. Ms. Ding tried to stop them. Agents from the county government and police officer Li Wangjun from the local police unit grabbed Ms. Ding and threw her into a road-side ditch several meters deep. Not caring if she were dead or alive, they then hurried away with Mr. Zhao Liming as a captive. On November 20, 2003, police officer Guo Hongtang from Shouguang Police Bureau forcibly took Ms. Ding from her home to the local police unit. Police officer Sun Longfen severely beat her, slapping her on the face and kicking her. Then they brought Ms. Ding to Shouguang Police Squad and forced a family member to pay 2,000 yuan before releasing her. During the period from July 1999 to November 2003, Zhao Liming and his wife had a total of over 30,000 yuan extorted from them by the county government.
The above are only a portion of the facts revealing how the former office of the Gucheng County government, the Gucheng local police unit and the Shouguang Police Squad persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. The information was obtained through evidence and witnesses.
During the period from July 1999 to date, the Gucheng County government has detained and fined over 80 practitioners, from a 76-year-old woman to a 14-year-old girl, with the fines ranging from 500 yuan to 85,000 yuan. Below are some of the actual sums extorted from Falun Gong practitioners:
Guo Changting: had over 60,000 yuan extorted; Li Hongze: over 40,000 yuan; Guo Shibin: over 85,000 yuan; Zhao Liming: over 30,000 yuan; Li Kongfa: over 70,000 yuan; Gao Yulong: over 70,000 yuan; Sang Peiyao: over 50,000 yuan; Zhao Xiushun: 67,000 yuan; Zhao Shiheng: 30,000 yuan. There are also more than 60 other practitioners who were fined between 500 yuan and 10,000 yuan.
To be continued...
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Huang Jiang from Yuexiu District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province was forcibly taken away when he was on his way to work on March 20, 2007. He was imprisoned and persecuted at the Guangzhou City "Legal System Education School," which is in essence a brainwashing center, located at 48 Xizhou North Road, Chatou Village, Shijing Town, Baiyun District, Guangzhou City.
On the afternoon of the same day, more than 10 people, including individuals from the Jianshe Street Police, Jianshe Street Management Office personnel, Jiubei Garden Community Residents' Committee members, police from Chatou Brainwashing Center of Guangzhou City, and plainclothes agents from the Guangzhou 610 Office took Mr. Huang to his home, harassed and threatened his family members, and attempted to ransack his house.
Mr. Huang's family members realized they could not let the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecute their own family member, so they went to the brainwashing center and displayed a poster board nearby to expose the CCP's persecution and to request the unconditional release of Mr. Huang.
The individuals who participated in the arrest were afraid of their conduct being exposed, and forced Mr. Huang's family members to sign a statement promising not to display the poster board. They then went to Mr. Huang's home to threaten his wife, saying that they would take their child to a foster home and take her to a brainwashing center. There are now two guards stationed at the entrance of Mr. Huang's home, causing his family to be unable to even shop for groceries. They cannot have a normal life under these circumstances. The persecutors also called and threatened them, saying that they had issued a document to take his wife to a brainwashing center. In order to deceive Mr. Huang's family members, they do not have guards at his door, but have them positioned at the building entrance, causing Mr. Huang's whole family to live in fear.
Mr. Huang Jiang's family members with poster board calling for justice |
The poster reads:
"Persecuting good people, where is the justice?! Release my son! Restore justice!
"My son Mr. Huang persisted in his belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. He is a good son, a diligent worker, and a good citizen who observes the law. He is the backbone of our family. I am an old woman who does not have any retirement pension, and my daughter-in-law does not have a job. My grandson is only two years old, and our entire family counts on Mr. Huang.
"On March 20 when Mr. Huang was leaving home for work, he was arrested by individuals from the Jianshe Street Management Office and Jianshe Street Police Station, without any legal basis or papers.
"I strongly request the government to unconditionally release my son immediately, and restore justice to the people!"
When Mr. Huang's family members were calling for justice with the poster board, many people were outraged by the injustice upon reading the poster.
Guan Zuxing, head of Kunshan City 610 Office, and Li Donglin, head of Kunshan City's National Security Group, arrested practitioner Ms. Wang Chunrong on January 19, 2007, in Dongrong City's Zipai Store where she worked. They also arrested practitioner Ms. Huang Jinling. On the morning of February 9, 2007, seven policemen, including Guan Zuxing, Li Donglin and five others from the National Security Group, went to Huang Jinling's home, arrested her, and searched her home without any legal permission. Ms. Huang asked them to leave their names and she left the signed paper at home. At 11:00 p.m. that night, the official detention notice was issued, which was several hours after she was detained. The detention notice didn't state how long the detention period would be. The next day Li Donglin told Ms. Huang's family members that she would be detained for a month.
The National Security Group never informed her family about the arrest. It was Ms. Huang's family members who came to inquire about her and were then given the detention notice.
After she was detained for one month, on March 8, her next younger sister, Huang Xiaoling, went to Kunshan National Security Group to take Huang Jinling home. However, Li Donglin told her that he would not release her until after the Two Conferences (the National People's Congress and the Political Consultative Conference), around March 17 or 18, were over. As for why Huang Jinling should not be released and where she was detained, all of that information was "confidential" and he refused to say anything. When Huang Xiaoling asked to visit her sister, Li Donglin rejected the request. He hinted that it was because Huang Jinling's arrest and the names of many officers in the National Security Group had been exposed to the international press, and they were really furious. He privately said that he would like to talk to Huang Jinling's husband, Chen Zhiming, who currently lives in Calgary, Canada, to seek a way out of the difficult situation. There was no legal reason for Huang Jinling to still be in custody after March 8. Li Donglin just told Huang Xiaoling that it was based on "mandatory changing residence."
Her family members were not told of Huang Jinling's prolonged detention. Her family found out after an inquiry, just like the previous one. Moreover, this time, they even didn't provide any legal papers.
On March 16, Huang Xiaoling called Li Donglin to inquire about her sister's status but Li deliberately avoided her. On March 19, Huang Xiaoling called Song Wenyuan, the head of the Kunshan City Police Department, to inquire where her sister was and how they were dealing with her case. Song stated that he was not involved in the case. Half an hour after this call, Li Donglin called Huang Xiaoling and said that they would have the information in a few days but he didn't give any further explanation.
On March 20, Huang Xiaoling called Li Donglin again. Li asked her to come to the Kunshan National Security Group. He refused to tell her anything on the phone and just said she would know when she got there.
On March 21, when Huang Xiaoling arrived at the National Security Group, Li Donglin handed her a notice dated March 20 that Huang Jinling was sentenced to one year of forced labor. They were going to send Huang Jinling to Jiangsu Province Women's Forced Labor Camp the next week.
Here are some key points in this case.
1. The forced labor notice stated that Wang Chunrong was arrested while she was distributing truth-clarifying materials at the No.4 Building, Xiuyiyuan Residential Court, Kunshan City. In fact, she was arrested at the store where she worked.
2. The forced labor notice mentioned that Huang Jinling's status was changed after March 11 and that she was under house arrest and was being kept under surveillance. However, Huang Jinling had been detained ever since then.
3. On February 9, 2007, when the police searched and confiscated property from Huang's home, they didn't show their IDs. They have yet to show Ms. Huang's family members their list of confiscated property. Their so-called evidence was gathered completely behind the scenes.
4. The family members were not informed when something happened. The authorities acted first and then made up a legal procedure or even skipped the procedure. Illegal conduct such as this is becoming more and more commonplace.
5. They repeatedly lied to the family members. When they first arrested Huang Jinling, the family members were told that she would be detained for only a month. Then, when she was not released, the family members were told that she would be released around March 17 or 18, after the Two Conferences ended. When that didn't happen, the family members were not told anything about the forced labor sentence until it had already became a fact.
6. According to the forced labor notice, the forced labor sentence was based on a statement made by Huang Jinling, Wang Chunrong's testimony, and the criminal evidence. However, Huang Jinling never signed her statement. As to Wang Chunrong's testimony, when Huang Jinling's family members asked to confront Wang Chunrong face to face, Li Donglin refused, "It is impossible." Regarding the "criminal evidence," the family members never saw the list of confiscated property taken from the house.
7. On February 14 when Huang Jinling's two sisters visited her, Huang mentioned she saw injuries on Wang Chunrong's face. Li Donglin explained that Wang Chunrong had had a fever on those days. As a matter of fact, Li Donglin has tortured many Kunshan practitioners in order to extort confessions. He has incited his followers to implement all kinds of methods to brutally torture practitioners. In 2004, Huang Jinling's younger brother, Huang Jianjun, was detained for a month because some Falun Gong books and materials were found at his home. At that time, Li Donglin hinted to Huang Jinling, "If you admit you have given those books and materials to your younger brother, the police at your brother's place will not inquire where the materials came from, which will relieve the pressure on your brother. Otherwise, they will keep inquiring about the source." He deceived Huang Jinling into admitting the so-called evidence. This time he may play the same trick again: forcing Huang Jinling to admit the accused evidence by torturing Wang Chunrong. Currently what we know for sure is that Li Donglin is trying hard to cover up the truth. He tries to arrest anyone who knows the truth. He issued an arrest order country wide for Huang Jinling's daughter, Chen Yinghua, and Li Jinan, who was staying at Huang's home when she was arrested. He continues to lie to the victim's family and is extremely angry over the public exposure of the case. It appears that he is seeking revenge.
8. On March 21, when Huang Xiaoling visited her sister Huang Jinling, Huang Jinling told her how she was tortured from March 5 to March 8. They conducted a sudden interrogation. She was tied to a metal chair for four days in the National Security Group. Her hands and feet were swollen from being tied for so long. The skin on her buttocks peeled off. It was at the end of her one-month detention. Why did they need to interrogate her with force? Apparently the arrest of Huang Jinling was revenge. They did not have any evidence so they tortured her physically and mentally in order to get the evidence that they wanted. However, since Huang Jinling refused to cooperate with them and didn't sign the paper, they couldn't put her on trial. In order to keep their criminal acts secret, they managed to get her sent her to a forced labor camp.
9. The property that was confiscated from Ms. Huang's home will not be returned according to Li Donglin, who requested Huang Jinling's signature. Huang Jinling told her younger sister that she refused to sign.
