  • Mr. Li Hai from Shandong Province Suffered Severe Persecution Before his Death

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Hai from Shandong Province suffered severe persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) before his death. Due to a prolonged period of unjustified harassment, threats, extortion, and torture, Mr. Li Hai died on January 24, 2003 at his home at the age of 67.

    Mr. Li Hai

Mr. Li Hai was from Xiaozhuanggou Village, Haogezhuang Town, Zhucheng City. On July 22, 1999, he was taken away by local government personnel to Jiaojia Zhuangzi Village in Haogezhuang Town. The personnel violently beat and scolded him. They forced him to openly admonish himself in a meeting of Communist Party members before the entire town, and they forced him to slander Falun Gong on a televised broadcast. He suffered enormous bodily and psychological torture.

In June or July of 2000, his son, Mr. Li Wensheng, was incarcerated and persecuted for over 40 days for saying that he would continue practicing Falun Gong. Every day, Mr. Li Hai had to go back and forth over a dozen miles to deliver food to his son. Meanwhile, he had to care for his farm. In addition, the perpetrators threatened and scorned him. Due to excessive fatigue from the mental and physical torture, he was hit by a horse wagon one day on the way to delivering food to his son. The wagon driver fled. Mr. Li's painful groans were overheard by a neighboring villager. This kind-hearted villager took him home. His leg was badly wounded, and his knees were bleeding. He could not walk for over 10 days. The perpetrators did not release his son until he used his house deed as a warrant.

In October 2000, Mr. Li Hai's wife, Ms. Feng Shoulan, and son, Mr. Li Wensheng, went to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in Beijing. They were both illegally detained and arrested. Under the guidance of Haogezhuang Town's Party Secretary, Mr. Li Yongming, and the Politics and Law Secretary, Wang Xinjun, the police and others persecuted Mr. Li Hai even more unscrupulously. At that time, the Zhucheng City Police Department fined the Haogezhuang Town local police station 5,000 yuan. In order to get this 5,000 yuan, police officers Li Fengchun, Zhang Congguang, Zhou Jianbo, and Zheng Deming, and officials Zhu Xifeng, Guo Fangxue, and Guo Fangming took turns visiting Mr. Li to demand money almost daily. They scolded and threatened him. They extorted money from him and blackmailed him. Sometimes, they took him to the local police station to beat him and accuse him mercilessly. They also had someone monitoring him.

One evening during the days when both his wife and son were tragically suffering from illegal detention and persecution, over a dozen people from the Political Security Group of Zhucheng City Police Department, the local police station, the town committee, the village committee ransacked his house. They threatened him and railed him. They rummaged through chests and cupboards and confiscated his Falun Gong materials and a tape recorder. Police officer Li Fengchun attacked Mr. Li Hai's head fiercely with a broom and compelled him to hand over money. He claimed that if they could not get money from him, they would expel him from his house. As a result, Mr. Li's income for an entire year was completely extorted and looted. He was also forced to sell his cow (farming cattle is a necessity on a farm in this mountainous area), peanuts, soybeans, and corn to make up over 4,000 yuan. The family home was looted until almost nothing was left. In his old age with an ill body, Mr. Li Hai had to work in shops and receive help from his relatives.

After one month of detention, Mr. Li's son, Mr. Li Wensheng, was taken to the Haogezhuang Food Station by the Town Committee and the local police station. There, he was locked up for over 40 days. Several villagers took turns watching him. He was then sentenced to three years of forced labor. Mr. Li Hai had to deliver food to his son every day, traveling back and forth several miles, whatever the weather.

Under such brutal persecution, Mr. Li Hai was often absent-minded, with his face bathed in tears. In the Haogezhuang Town local police station, under the incitement of Guo Fangxue and Guo Fangming, police officer Li Fengchun fiercely attacked Mr. Li Hai's head with a piece of iron hardware. Mr. Li felt dizzy right at that moment. After this incident, he became even more absent-minded and depressed. He had no strength to work and was scared whenever he saw police officers or vehicles. His legs atrophied, and his health was getting worse and worse. He felt excruciating pain in his upper body and he would occasionally spit up blood. Sometimes the pain was so great that he would fall to the ground, unable to get up. He suffered from this physical pain for two years, but the psychological wound he suffered was so great that he could not even describe it. On top of this, he often worried about his son, who was imprisoned in Changle Forced Labor Camp and was suffering severe persecution. Mr. Li Hai passed away on January 24, 2003.

Postgraduate Student Ms. Lin Tiemei Tortured to Death by Forced Labor Camp and Mental Institution in Guangxi

Guangxi Falun Gong practitioner and postgraduate student Ms. Lin Tiemei died as a result of persecution on December 8, 2005. Guangxi Labor Re-education Camp and Guangxi Demobilized and Retired Serviceman Hospital (Mental Institution) are responsible for her death. She was 33 years old. The death report from the hospital described Lin Tiemei's death as "sudden death." Three other practitioners have been persecuted to death at the same hospital before Lin Tiemei.

Ms. Lin Tiemei was unmarried and lived in Bobai County, Guangxi Province. From 2000 to 2004, Bobai County Police Department twice arrested her and sent her to a forced labor camp where she suffered inhuman torture. Ms. Lin, who was quite tall and well-built, was tortured until she weighed only twenty-five to thirty kilograms (55-66 lb). She was sent to Bobai County Hospital for treatment, but before she could recover, she was sent back to the labor camp for further torture.

On February 1, 2002, Lin Tiemei was arrested on her way to Beijing to clarify the facts about Falun Gong. She was again sent for three years of forced labor at the Guangxi No. 1 Women's Labor Re-education Camp. Because she firmly believed in Falun Gong and refused to be "transformed," she suffered inhuman torture at the labor camp. She was tied to a bed for a long period of time with her arms and legs stretched out, and she was not allowed up to use the toilet.

Former Education Team leader Liang Suzheng, and Lu Dengyun along with prison guards conducted so-called "strict management" on steadfast practitioners like Lin Tiemei. They ordered criminal inmates to take turns watching practitioners around the clock, depriving them of their right to sleep, inflicting long term physical punishment, handcuffing or hanging them, etc. Some practitioners were handcuffed behind their backs while sitting on the ground, and some were handcuffed until the next morning. Practitioners had to seek permission from the guards to take a shower or use the toilet, and they were not allowed to buy any daily necessities or to have family members visit them. No one was allowed to supply them with anything or give them any help.

The prison guard instigated criminal inmates to beat Ms. Ling. They forced cleaning rags and smelly socks into her mouth, used rubberized fabric to seal her mouth, and forced her wear a helmet on her head with her hands cuffed, and then sent her to the "dragon palace" until the skin around her mouth started to fester.

Because she was continuously on a hunger strike in order to resist the persecution, she was viciously force-fed by prison guards. According to witnesses, in December 2003, Lin Tiemei was seriously tortured by prison guards. She was handcuffed, forced to wear a metal helmet, and her mouth was sealed with rubberized fabric. They once saw her whole body covered with bruises. Prison guards shocked her with electric batons and used other torture devices on her.

At Guangxi Forced Labor Camp, Lin Tiemei was tortured until she was in a daze, and her life was in great danger. The labor camp spread a rumor that "Lin Tiemei had become insane" and that "it was caused by her practicing Falun Gong." During the 2004 Lunar New Year, the prison guards again spread the rumor that Ms. Lin was released on bail for medical treatment. In fact, she was locked up in a secret room totally restrained. She was not allowed to sleep. Instead, she was forced to sit on the wooden board with no blanket in the cold winter.

Later they sent her to Yulin Demobilized and Retried Servicemen Hospital in Guangxi, which was a district level mental institution, and continued torturing her.

On November 25, 2005, Lin Tiemei's family went to the hospital and asked to see her, but their request was refused. On December 8, Ms. Lin Tiemei died as a result of the persecution she had been subjected to. Her family refused to sign the cremation paper. The Bobai County CCP's Political and Legal Committee and the 610 Office paid sixteen thousand dollars to Lin's family in order to cover up the facts and deceive the public.

The Autrocities at Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province

Here I expose the savage persecution of Falun Gong practitioners between 2004 and 2006 at Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province.

In October 2004, officials in Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp organized prisoners to beat practitioners. The deputy head of the labor camp, Liu Lun, actively advocated persecuting practitioners by force. The following officials were involved: Head of the administration section Wu; Secretary Yu; Head of the education section Wang Yuou; Heads of the 4th Group including Hao Wei, Zhang Bin and Wang Jiali; guards in the 4th Group Ao Ping, Ding Yanfeng, Gao Hui, Liu Wenhui, Li Zhiyong, Niu Tiejun, and others.

    1. Practitioner He Qinghui Suffered Skull Fracture on the Spot From Beating

On the afternoon of October 11, 2004, several guards were called to the 4th Group to join in the savage beating of practitioners. The following prisoners also participated: Wang Rong (who suffered karmic retribution and died of a brain hemorrhage, as reported on the Minghui/Clearwisdom website), He Wei (who died in a car accident), Zhou Fei, Yu Zhen, Zhong Xiaotao, Zhou Liantao, Guo Lei, Liu Yie, Liu Zhihong, Ye Qingbin, Youzhididiti, Xiao Hua (an alias), Liu Jinhai, and others. Guard Ao Ping decided who would be beaten. He first named practitioner Mr. Yao Shiguo, who had resisted being brainwashed. Ao Ping ordered prisoners to drag Mr. Yao back to the prison cell and beat him. They threw cold water on him to wake him up after he lost consciousness due to the beatings, which were repeated three or four times. Then the other twelve practitioners, including An Xuelun, Kuan Fangqi, Gao Jizhu, Chang Yongfu, and He Qinghui, suffered brutal beatings and threats in turn. Na Zhunxian was threatened as well.

Practitioner He Qinghui's skull was fractured from the beating. Brain fluid leaked out and he suffered severe mental trauma. (He is currently still at Kangfu Hospital in Harbin making slow recovery. He has lost most of his memory, reacts slowly, and cannot move normally) A kind prisoner named Yang Yubao carried him from the second floor to downstairs and the deputy head of the 4th Group Zhang Bin used his own car to take him to the hospital. When guard Ding Yanfeng, who was the driver, helped carry Mr. He to the car, he kicked him viciously because his blood and brain fluid spilled in the car. That night, Deputy Head of the labor camp Liu Lun continued to organize the persecution of practitioners and tried to force them to write the three statements.

The next morning, practitioner Mr. Xu Zhenfeng risked his life to protest the persecution, and practitioner He Qinghui was still on the verge of death. The wave of brutal persecution had to stop.

The head of the labor camp, Shi Yingbai, hypocritically wanted to investigate He Qinghui's "accident." The fact was that he wanted to cover up the truth. Pretending to investigate He Qinghui's incident, Deputy Head of the Administration Section Tao Dajian talked to the prisoners involved in beating practitioners one by one in order to get them to agree on what to say and to cover up their crimes. He instructed them not to mention any guards that were present during the beating. Prisoner Youzimaimaiti from Xinjiang Province didn't get the point and told the truth, and as a result was subjected to brutal beatings from other prisoners. The labor camp lied to He Qinghui's family members and said that his injury was caused by a fall. Even Prosecutor Ren, who was assigned to reside at the labor camp, was involved in the cover up. He talked to the prisoners in person and recorded their false statements. Due to Shi Yingbai's plotting, the serious crime of a detainee being disabled due to torture was covered up.

Not long after this, the head of the 4th Group, Hao Wei, was awarded the title "Advance Model in the Municipal Judicature System." Hao Wei was very hypocritical and vicious. In mid November, when practitioner Mr. Na Zhenxian was extremely weak, he rejected the request to release Na for medical treatment.

In November 2004, practitioners in the 1st Group held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. They were subjected to force-feeding and other forms of torture. The persecution was led by the head of the 1st Group, Yang Jintang, and the deputy, Yang Yu. The practitioners who were abused were Xu Baolin, Zhang Delong, Hao Yunshu, Yu Wenxiang, Mo Zhikui, Tian Ying, among others.

In late 2004, the labor camp organized blood draws from practitioners for medical checkups. When practitioner Mr. Mo Zhikui refused to cooperate, the guards in the 1st Group beat him and then drew his blood.

    2. Vicious Guard Zhao Shuang

In late March 2005, practitioner Mr. Na Zhenxian was transferred to the "restriction group" (the 5th Group) to suffer further abuse. One day guard Zhao Shuang started brutally beating practitioner Mr. Sun Hongda for his "wrong eye expression." Guard Wang Fuhai viciously shocked Sun Hongda on his head, mouth, back of his head, face, and neck, which badly burned Mr. Sun's tongue, and he had difficulty eating for several months. While Sun Hongda was held on the ground by five or six prisoners, guard Zhao Shuang rode on the top of Sun and tortured him, pushing and pulling him. This made Sun Hongda suffer extreme pain in all his joints, and he had difficulty moving around for several days. Deputy head of the labor camp Liu Lun witnessed the torture but walked away as if nothing had happened. Zhao Shuang also brutally slapped Sun Hongda's face, which caused Sun to lose hearing in his left ear for several days.

In late April 2005, the practitioners who firmly persisted in their belief were transferred to the 5th Group. (Over 60 practitioners detained there at its peak.) A new wave of persecution was going to start. More guards were transferred to the 5th Group. Currently, the 5th Group has the following guards: group head Zhao Shuang, deputy Wang Kai, deputy Qiang Shengguo, deputy Li Jianfeng, Yang Yang, Kuo Wangji, Wang Fuhai, Zhang Zhensun, Sun Qingyu, Dou Yuxin, Liu Feng, Zhang Baoshu, and others.

The Practitioners were forced to work for long hours picking toothpicks all day long with only two hours of sleep. The Practitioners were not allowed to sleep until 3:00 a.m. and were forced to get up at 5:00 a.m., and only had a short time to eat during the day. Zhao Shuang shouted, "The money you earn is used to purchase electric batons or medicine if you get sick due to labor. We just cannot allow you to be comfortable. I know I will not have a good ending eventually. I just enjoy my comforts whenever I can. My birthday is July 1 [the CCP's birthday]. If the CCP comes to an end, I will end as well."

Practitioner Mr. Na Zhenxian was almost 60 years old and had high blood pressure. He was also forced to work for long hours with little sleep. These long hours of labor lasted for a month. The following prisoners were involved in blackmailing, insulting and beating practitioners: Qi Kunglei (who was reported on the Minghui/Clearwisdom website when he suddenly died on the 2006 Chinese New Year), Dong Hebin (whose sister was the lover of Zhao Shuang), Wang Yong, Li Xiaodong, Lin Haiyang, Zhong Cunlong, Li Zhexing, Zhen Xugang, Yang Qingguo, Wang Li, Han Zaiyan, Gu Feng, and Liu Weichen.

    3. The Death of Practitioner Mr. Na Zhenxian

In mid September, there were three serious persecution cases.

The first case: Guard Zhao Shuang beat practitioner Yu Wenxiang so brutally that Yu's eardrum was perforated.

The second case: Practitioner Mr. Zhou Peihong' arms were disabled due to a brutal beating. Prisoner Qi Kunlei intentionally provoked the conflict. Guard Zhao Shuang viciously broke both of Mr. Zhou's arms and disabled him. The guards on duty, Yang Yang and Guo Wanji, defended Zhao Shuang to save him from punishment.

The third case: Death of practitioner Mr. Na Zhengxian.

The authorities delayed in sending Mr. Na Zhenxian to emergency after he had a severe breakdown. His whole body suddenly started shaking and he was unable to walk when he was waiting in line for breakfast. He asked guard Li Jianfeng if he could rest but was ignored. Prisoner head Dong Hebin scolded him viciously and ordered other prisoners to drag him to the workshop to work. In the afternoon, guard Guo Wanji, who was in charge of prisoners' medical treatments, hypocritically took Mr. Na to see the doctor. The doctor on duty muddled through his work. He just took Na's blood pressure and didn't subscribe any medication or injection, and then let the guard take Na Zhenxian back to the 5th Group. At that time, Mr. Na was already having a hard time working. He said that he felt extremely cold and his whole body was shaking.

That night, Mr. Na Zhenxian was unable to take care of himself and was incontinent. Fellow practitioners helped him to change his underwear. The guards didn't care at all. The next morning, Mr. Na was unable to get up to have breakfast. When the on-duty prisoner Wang Kai came back, he viciously berated Na Zhenxian and accused him of faking illness. At 8:00 or 9:00 a.m., prisoner Han Zaiyan found Na Zhenxian's body already cold and reported it to Wang Kai. Na Zhenxian was finally sent to the hospital. Later the labor camp tried to contain the news of Na Zhenxian's death. In the 5th Group bulletin, it was reported that Na Zhenxian was still in the hospital.

On Mid-Autumn Day, September 19, group head Li Jianfeng bought moon cakes for practitioners, with a guilty conscience. This was done in order to cover up the fact that Na Zhenxian had died due to delayed medical treatment. Zhao Shuang pretended to discuss the medical treatment with Na's family on the phone in front of all the practitioners.

Although the death of Mr. Na Zhenxian was not directly caused by beatings, many factors during his detention in the labor camp detention led his death, including mental torture, brutal brainwashing, long-hours of forced labor, poor food, insults, and delay of medical treatment. Thus Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp is responsible, and will not escape justice.

In February 2006, Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp once again organized blood draws for "medical checkups." All practitioners in the 4th Group firmly opposed it.
