Beijing Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Yongwang, 34, is originally from Quyang County, Hebei Province. Because of his firm belief in Falun Gong, he was arrested in Shanghai on September 13, 2001. He was detained at a detention center in Shanghai and later at Baoding City Detention Center in Hebei Province for 88 days. On December 11, 2001, Mr. Liu was taken to Baoding Forced Labor Camp. Mr. Liu was subjected to inhuman torture at the hands of Li Dayong, the leader of the 1st Group, guards Liu Yuesheng and Liu Qingyong, and camp physician Du Baochuan.
After Mr. Liu Yongwang's left leg became crippled from the severe torture, he was transferred to Tangshan Forced Labor Camp where he suffered further persecution. His left leg remained crippled after his transfer to Tangshan Forced Labor Camp. In the winter of 2003, part of his left leg gradually regained some functions, but still lacked strength. At that time, his left leg felt numb and painful. The numbness spread throughout the entire left leg and then to his right leg, calf, and the thigh. His anus had also become numb and he no longer could control his excretory functions. Both of his legs were so painful that he couldn't fall asleep at night. On April 30, 2004, he was taken to the Worker's Hospital of Tangshan for an examination and was diagnosed with nerve damage in both legs.
Mr. Liu Yongwang went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. With the help from his family and morally upright people, he was released on medical leave in mid-June of 2004. But, he had to post bail.
After arriving home, his health improved from practicing Falun Gong. The pain in his legs had also lessened. On August 24, 2005, Beijing National Security officers arrested Mr. Liu at his work place. He was first detained at the Beijing City Security Detention Center, then transferred to the Security Detention Center in Hebei Province, and then imprisoned at Baoding City Detention Center. In late September, the pain in his legs returned. On October 25 he was taken to the 252nd Hospital for examination and was diagnosed to have displaced vertebra. Despite his medical condition, the "Special Investigation Team" tortured him in an attempt to extort a confession. From November 7 to 13, they tied his legs to a chair and used electric batons and high intensity light to torture him for seven consecutive days. Because his legs were fixed in place for a long time, they became swollen and his condition turned for the worse. Meanwhile, National Security agent Sun Lizhi broke into his home on the sly to install listening devices and also checked his work computer to find evidence so he could press charges against him.
In November 2006, Baoding City Police Deparment, Xinshi District Procuratorate, and Xinshi District Court conspired to sentence him and three more practitioners. Mr. Liu went on a hunger strike on May 24, while on appeal, to protest the unlawful imprisonment and persecution.
On June 16, 2006, Baoding City Detention Center took the four practitioners to different prisons: Zhang Rongjie was taken to the Shijiazhuang Women's Prison, Zhi Zhanmin to Baoding Prison, and Liu Yongwang and Wei Haiwu to Jidong Prison in Tangshan.
Mr. Liu had not been in good health since June 16, 2006, the day when he was taken to Jidong Prison of Tangshan City. His family was not informed, but found out about his imprisonment at the 1st Detachment after searching and inquiring about him. On July 7, his wife and seven year old daughter traveled a great distance from Baoding to visit Mr. Liu. The prison staff denied family visitations. After talking to Zhang Fuliang and Ma Changzheng from the Education Section for more than an hour, Ma Changzheng told them that given prison regulations, no matter how persuasive the reasons by the family or the weeping of a little daughter, they could not visit.
On December 16, 2006, Mr. Liu bit apart and swallowed the feeding tube to protest the savage force feeding. Once they could no longer force feed him, they allowed his family to come and visit him, because they were afraid of bearing responsibility for any consequences. He is now imprisoned in the 1st Detachment of Tangshan Jidong Prison. He has been on a hunger strike for over seven months and has lost a lot of weight. Despite his health condition, prison guards forced him to sit on a bench from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Six people monitored him around the clock.
Prison guards used thin tubes for force feeding at the beginning, but now they use a tube as thick as a thumb. When prison guards force fed him, he threw up most of whatever they fed him. Besides his paralyzed lower limbs, he became emaciated and weak. He could neither walk nor stand. Several times he was in coma after force feedings. His life is in grave danger.
Yet, the guards at the prison claimed that he was fine. Education
Section Chief Zhang Fuliang said disgustedly, "We won't release him
even if he dies!"

Liu Yongwang's Recounting of His Suffering at Baoding Forced Labor Camp
On December 11, 2001, I was taken to the 1st Group at Baoding Forced Labor Camp, where I suffered cruel torture. As a result, my left leg is crippled now. I want to tell people about the criminal acts committed by the leader of the 1st Group Li Dayong and others at Baoding Forced Labor Camp. I call on the world’s governments and people who are upright and decent to investigate the crime they committed.
1. Despite Being on the Verge of Death, the Forced Labor Camp Still Accepted Me
Forced labor camp regulations state explicitly: "Those without satisfactory physical health can not be accepted for forced labor." But, staff at the labor camp disregarded laws and accepted a person who had been on hunger strike for three months and with health in a life threatening situation.
2. Savage Force Feeding
For the first twenty days after I arrived at the camp, I was given intravenous treatments. Each day I was given two bottles, one was glucose and the other was sodium chloride. They stopped the intravenous feeding on December 30. At 10:00 a.m. on January 1, 2002, police told me they were going to force-feed me. Two prisoners took me to the captain’s office. Many people were there, including the Director of Public Health Zhang, prison physician Du Baochuan, and the 1st Group Captain Li Dayong. A chair was placed in the middle of the room. Du Baochuan forced me to sit in that chair and some people held my head and my arms. My entire body was in pain and I could barely breath. Du Baochuan gave the orders and did not stop cursing. They then used a metal spoon to pry open my mouth and a plier to keep my mouth open. They were so forceful that my upper palate began to bleed. Then, they fixed my tongue so I couldn't move it. The prison physician ordered Wang Shunwei to begin the force feeding. Wang said, "I have never done it before." The prison physician cursed at him and ordered the person who was holding my head to squeeze my nose, so I could only breath through my mouth. As I was breathing deeply, a spoonful of liquid was forced down my throat. As I was just breathing with my mouth, I swallowed the liquid. I felt like I was being held under water and choked. I felt an indescribable fear and subconsciously held my breath. As I was holding my breath, another spoonful of liquid was forced down my throat. I found out later that the liquid was a mixture of powdered milk and salt. They continued to do this. I struggled but I couldn't move. I feared being murdered. A large portion of liquid had entered my lungs.
After I was force fed, my entire body was in pain, especially the chest area. I broke out in a cold sweat, but the prison physician laughed maliciously and ridiculed me. It was obvious that they use this behavior to intimidate their victims.
In January of 2002, after being force fed, 46 year-old practitioner Ping Guoguang spat blood incessantly. He died two weeks later.
3. Being Comatose and Losing Control Over Bodily Functions
I was taken back to the confinement cell. I had severe chest pain and could hardly breath. I breathed heavily and had a fever. My heartbeat went up to 120 and I could only lie on the bed board. I couldn't breath and had chest pain when I raised my head. At 5:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m., I suddenly felt great pain, a chill and wanted to defecate. They brought me a spittoon. I had a difficult time lying down on the bed. As soon as I lay on the bed I felt excruciating chest pain and lost consciousness. I was lying in bed when I woke up. I had no idea how long I was unconscious. No one would tell me anything except that I was incontinent. They then pointed to a spot with defecation marks on the blanket. The fast heartbeats, breathlessness, and pain continued. The following day, I heard someone saying that they were ready to force-feed me. I was thus forced to begin eating again. They didn't carry out the force feeding.
On the evening of January 2, I spat some blood and had nose bleeding. I spit many mouthfuls of blood on the floor. The doctor from the health department examined the blood on the floor and said that it wasn't from my stomach. He ordered it wiped clean and didn't do any thing about it. Chen Guang, the person on duty, found out my eyes were red and called the doctor to measure my temperature. Later, I was taken to the emergency room at the 252nd Hospital and received five bottles of I.V. I was taken back to the forced labor camp the following day.
I was bedridden. When I raised my head or turned to the side, I gasped for air, had chest pain and spit up blood. This continued for over a month.
Beginning January 3, they locked me in a confinement cell and put me on an I.V. My temperature was over 42 degrees Celsius (107.6oF), sometime over 43 (109.4oF). I was semi-conscious during this time. I later heard that it was dangerous to have such a high body temperature.
4. People Suffering Tuberculosis and With Crippled Legs Were Imprisoned
At the time I was spitting up blood, someone named Zhang Wanxin from the Northwest who had late stage tuberculosis was also locked up in my confinement cell. The forced labor camp regulations state that people with contagious diseases will not be accepted. But the authorities disregard all laws.
I was bedridden since January 3. Once, my temperature dropped slightly, and I had some weird feeling in my left leg. I had a feeling, but it wasn’t really painful. I also could not move my legs. In September, I was taken to Nanshi Section Hospital for examination and was told that I had a nerve injury. I could sue prison physician Du Baochuan and the 1st Group Captain Li Dayong, as they had violated Regulation 248 of the Criminal Law, which dealt with the abuse of prisoners. Prison physician Du Baochuan had also violated Regulation 335 of the Criminal law which covers medical malpractice.
5. A Punishment Room was Opened And Practitioners were Beat Daily
In July 2002, the 1st Group opened three rooms on one side of the confinement cell, which were used as punishment rooms. They used inhuman torture at any time on practitioners who refused to renounce their belief. Practitioners were shocked with electric batons, resulting in blisters all over their bodies. They also suffered other injuries. The whole 1st Group was in fear. This went on for over six months and up to a year. They closed all windows when they tortured practitioners. They also made sure there were no witnesses and told the person on duty to go somewhere else when they tortured practitioners. Every time they stopped the torture for a while one could smell burning flesh in that area. They used a mop to clean the blood that had dripped from practitioners' faces.
Practitioners who had written a solemn declaration to nullify their reform statements, which were written after being cruelly beaten, were again beaten up.
6. "Killing Rope" Cut Into My Flesh
On the morning of October 13, 2002, police ordered four people to take me to the punishment room. Policemen Liu Yuesheng and Li Dayong used a "killing rope" to torture me. They put a rope around my chest and asked me, "Do you want to reform or not?" I said, "It is against the law to beat people." They then removed my jacket, leaving me only wearing thin clothes. They put a rope around my neck, then tied it in several loops around my shoulders, armpits and arms. Then the rope was tied behind my back and they lifted the rope. The first time they roped me, Liu Yuesheng held my head and two others roped me behind my back. Since tying a rope for a long time in such a manner would cripple ones arms, they loosened the ropes after a while. They roped me three times a day. On the second day, they put small sticks and wine bottles under my armpits so the rope could be tightened even further. The rope cut into my flesh. I still have scars on my shoulders from the cuts.
7. Beatings with Leather Belts and Bamboo Sticks, and Shocked with Electric Batons
After I was roped, they beat me. Li Dayong used a leather belt to hit my face, body, and back. He also used a police rope folded to about a foot long and used it to whip my face until my mouth was filled with blood, which was dripping out of my mouth. One of my upper teeth is still loose and black today because of the beating. I shouted, "Beating people is against the law," "Falun Dafa is good," and "The Practice is not a crime." Guard Liu Liang then joined the torture team. He used a bamboo stick to beat my face, mouth, and nose. I then had nose bleeding. After beating me for a while, they tied my back to a chair. With an evil expression on his face, Li Dayong used an electric baton to shock my entire body, including my crippled left leg, chest, and top of my head.
Because of my shout, "Falun Dafa is good," and "Beating people is against the law," they shocked my mouth with an electric baton until it ran out of charge. I was so badly beaten that my mouth was swollen and bleeding. Even the prison physician was shocked.
8. Being Tied to a Bed Board for 21 Days and Beaten with Electric Batons
They beat me for two days and roped me five times after October 14. I was tied on a bed board for 21 days. My hands and feet were tied to the four corners of the bed so I couldn't move. I was only covered with a quilt. They beat my back and buttocks with electric batons. My back became purple and black, and my skin cracked and bled. Later I had scabies.
9. The Prison Inflated the Cost for Medical Care to Cover Its Inhuman Behavior
Li Dayong spread rumors among practitioners that they had spent ten thousand yuan on medical expenses for me. But he had never mentioned it to me, because I knew the cost involved. Four times at the hospital cost about five hundred yuan and the total cost was less than one thousand yuan for the treatment. They told others that the medicines they used were the best. During the three months of hunger strike, they used two bottles of I.V., one was glucose and other was sodium chloride. They only gave me one bottle of I.V. when I was at the 252 Hospital for emergency treatment. Director Zhuang said that he had provided good I.V. for me, but it was only a type mixed with some powder. I had eight bottles of I.V. each day for eight days. Later I found out the cost of the I.V. was only 2.2 yuan. Besides I.V. there were five types of vitamins. All the medicine costs less than five hundred yuan. Counting the cost of gasoline and treatment it was still less than one thousand yuan. When Li Dayong spread the rumor that they had spent ten thousand yuan on me, people who did not know the facts would think they were being very humanitarian.
10. Listening to Their Despotic Statements
After Falun Gong practitioner Ping Guoguang died after being force
fed, Li
Dayong said to me twice, "If you are so brave, go on a hunger strike."
After they beat me, I told them that they were violating the law. Li
Dayong responded, "Go ahead sue me. You don't have any evidence," since
they always committed their crimes without anyone present, and they
wiped clean all the blood to destroy potential evidence. When I was
tied to a bed, I told them that what they did was against the law, but
they said to me shamelessly, "I have total authority over whomever is
imprisoned here." When they used rope and electric batons to shock me,
I told them it was against the law. But Li Dayong said to me, "These
are police tools and I was given the authority by our country."
1. Ms. Cao Qiangqiang's Experience of Being Tortured
Ms. Cao Qiangqiang, 51 years old, was from Beizhuangdui, Xiaojin Village, Xiaojin Town, Xifeng City, Qingyang area. On March 2002, Ms. Cao and five other practitioners planned to go to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. Her husband, poisoned by the CCP's (Chinese Communist Party) vicious propaganda against Falun Gong, went to the Xiaojin train station to stop her. He threatened to divorce her and eventually took her to government officials. A law executing officer, Gao Liangqing ordered Ms. Cao's husband to take her home and strictly monitor her.
Two days later, Ms. Cao escaped from her home and went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Police officers from Beijing arrested her and took her to the Xifeng Police Station in Beijing. Ms. Cao was detained there for five days before they sent her back to Xiaojin. Vice Director of the Xiaojin Police Station, Fan (first name unknown), made Ms. Cao sit on a stool overnight and then took her to the Xifeng Detention Center. They locked her up for 30 days. During that time, the guards forced Ms. Cao to go to crowded meetings in schools and government institutes to been seen in public as a "criminal" in order to humiliate her. Ms. Cao was fined 1000 yuan before they released her. Government officials tried to force her to write guarantee statements promising not to practice Falun Gong any longer. Ms. Cao refused and was thus exhibited as a "criminal" in a public area for five hours. They then took her to the Xifeng Drug Rehab Center and she was tortured by drug abusers.
The Xiaojin Town Police Station forced Ms. Cao's husband to write a guarantee that Ms. Cao would never practice Falun Gong again before they let her go. The police confiscated all her Falun Gong books from her home. She also had to report to the police every other day and they sent someone to watch her at home.
In June 2000, Ms. Cao was detained for seven days in the brainwashing center in the Xiaojin Town Kindergarten.
In November 2000, Ms. Cao and other practitioners went to Beijing to appeal for the justice for Falun Gong. The police arrested and locked them in a basement. The police handcuffed and beat her for three days and took all her cash (600 yuan) and belongings. Later she was sent back to the Xifeng Detention Center and locked up for one month. Zheng Xiang, a guard in the detention center, often berated and cursed at her.
In January 2001, officer Zhang Zhenghua and officer He (first name unknown) arrested Ms. Cao and locked her in the Xifeng Drug Rehabilitation Center for seven days. The authorities illegally sentenced her to one year in a forced labor camp. Ms. Cao stood up against this persecutory act with righteous thoughts and the decision was canceled. However, the police decided to lock her in the rehab center for seven months. Ms. Cao went on a hunger strike. Four days later, the rehab center released her on a 1,000 yuan fine fearing that she would die in the center.
In June 2002, the Xiaojin Town Police Station unlawfully locked Ms. Cao into the Xifeng Drug Rehabilitation Center for 16 days and extorted 3160 yuan from her as "meal expenses" before they released her.
In February 2003, someone reported Ms. Cao when she distributed truth clarification materials. The police arrested her and took her to the Zhenyuan County Police Station and kept her overnight without giving her any food or water. Later she was sent to the Xifeng Detention Center where they kept her for over 40 days and then sentenced her to two years and three months in a forced labor camp. The police didn't inform her family and hence Ms. Cao did not have any extra clothing. On the way to the camp, they tortured her until she vomited and passed out. The camp refused to take her in after they performed a physical examination on her. The police had to take Ms. Cao back to the Xifeng Police Station. Ms. Cao went on a hunger strike for 16 days and she was on the brink of death. The police didn't want to be held responsible for her death and therefore released her.
In April 2004, Ms. Cao was reading Falun Gong articles at home. Zhang Shaohua, director of the Shaojin Town Police Station, and two other officers broke into her home and started yelling. They even went to the neighbor's house without a warrant trying to search for Falun Gong materials that belonged to Ms. Cao. The police didn't find any materials and took away her Falun Gong books. From then on, the police went to Ms. Cao's house to harass, monitor, and threaten her periodically. This caused tremendous burden on her family.
2. Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. He Xuemei's Experience of Being Tortured
Ms. He Xuemei, 52 years old, was from Baiaodui, Nanli Village, Xiaojin Town, Xifeng City, Qingyang Area, Gansu Province. In March 2000, Ms. He and five other practitioners went to Beijing to appeal for the justice for Falun Gong. The Tiananmen Public Safety personnel illegally arrested them and sent them back to their local police station. Officer Miao (first name unknown) beat and kicked Ms. He, handcuffed her onto a big truck and sent her to the Xifeng Detention Center. They detained her there for one month. Officers from the Xiaojin Police Station tried to force her to write a "guarantee statement" that she would renounce Falun Gong. She refused and police officers handcuffed and brutally beat her. Miao punched Ms. He in the face more than 30 times and smashed her head against the wall many times. She passed out frequently. The police even wanted money from her. In the end, the police locked her in the Xifeng Drug Rehabilitation Center for 15 days. During that time, the government authorities incited Ms. He's husband to divorce her. The government took her and 16 other Falun Gong practitioners to public places claiming they were criminals and openly humiliated them. The police called the local TV station to come and make a video in order to distort the facts and to defame Falun Gong.
In April 2004, the local authorities instigated Ms. He's husband to torture her and force her to leave her home. Ms. He begged for food and slept on wood chips and traveled to a practitioner's home in Linjing, Zhenyuan County. The police happened to be at that practitioner's house doing an illegal search and thus arrested her. The police tortured and interrogated her. During the next seven days, she went through tortures in several detention centers before they sent her home.
The CCP instigated Ms. He's husband to torture her in inhumane ways. Her husband beat her many times until she lost consciousness. Ms. He's husband sometimes beat her with an iron rod until she lost control of her bowel movement. One time her husband beat her with a wooden rod until the rod broke and her legs were covered with bruises. He then locked her in a room for five days. Ms. He had to escape from her own home on August 22, 2005. Because she didn't have a place to stay, she had to return home in June 2006.
Ms. He Xuemei's home phone number is 86-934-8412520. Her husband's name is Zuo Jiren.
3. Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Mao Caizhen's Experience of Being Tortured
Practitioner Ms. Mao Caizhen, 43 years old, was from Xiguandui, Xiaojin Village, Xiaojin Town, Xifeng District, Qingyang Area, Gansu Province. She tried to go to Beijing on March 25, 2000 to appeal for Falun Gong but police officers from the Xiaojin Police Station seized her at the Xi'an Train Station. The police took her back to the Xifeng City Public Safety Bureau and detained her. On April 18, during the detention, police officers forced 16 Falun Gong practitioners to walk on the streets of Xiaojin Town to publicly display them as "criminals" and humiliate them. The 16 practitioners included Ms. Mao Caizhen, Yang Guoliang, Cao Guifang, Ms. Shi Xiqin, Ms. Cao Qiangqiang, Liu Runlan, Jin Xiulan, Zuo Fenlan, Ms. He Xuemei, Zhang Xiuyun, Xie Gangfeng, Liu Zhirong (has been tortured to death), Li Ruihua, Xu Zhengze, Yao Xikui, and Jiao Lili. On April 25, the police fined Ms. Mao 1200 yuan and then released her.
On July 3, 2000, police officers took Ms. Mao to the Xiaojin Police Station and brutally beat her. On July 24, 2000, the police arrested Ms. Mao and several practitioners and took them to the brainwashing center for seven days. They were trying to make them renounce Falun Gong. On November 30, 2000, Ms. Mao went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong again. The police from the Xifeng Public Safety office arrested and detained her until December 30. On January 5, 2001, the police deceived Ms. Mao into going to the police station. Ms. Mao escaped and had to be homeless to avoid arrest for three months.
On April 5, 2001, the authorities sentenced Ms. Mao without reason to one year of forced labor at the First Women's Forced Labor Camp in Gansu Province. In the camp, drug abusers Ma Shulin and Liu Ping often beat and slandered Ms. Mao. Guards Fan Yirong and Ma Wei hung Ms. Mao up into the air with handcuffs without her feet touching the ground for seven consecutive days attempting to force her to renounce Falun Gong. Guard Fan Yirong beat her with a leather belt until she passed out. Fan would take her down until she regained consciousness and then continued the torture. Fan also ordered another guard to beat Ms. Mao until she was badly injured. This happened three times. In the camp, Ms. Mao received half a piece of bread per meal. Once she was forced to stand up around the clock for three months. After she served her term in the camp, the guards kept her for another 42 days before they let her go home.
In March 2004, three officers went to Ms. Mao's home to harass, illegally search her home and interrogate her.
4. Practitioner Ms. Zhi Xiqin's Experience of Being Tortured
Ms. Shi Xiqin, 62 years old, was from Nanzhuangdui, Licheng Village, Xiaojin Town, Xifeng City, Qingyang Area. She started practicing Falun Gong in August 1998. In March 2000, Shi and five other practitioners planed to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. On their way, officer Zhang Zhenghua stopped them at the Xi'an Train Station. Zhang took 100 yuan from Ms. Shi and sent her back to the Xiaojin Police Station. There they handcuffed her overnight, and then sent her to the Xifeng Detention Center for one month. Zhang also fined her 1200 yuan. During this time, Ms. Shi was taken to meetings and humiliated in public as a "criminal." The police used high volume speakers to openly slander Master Li and Falun Gong.
From May 2000 to January 2001, the authorities arrested Ms. Shi three times and sent her to different brainwashing centers.
In May 2000, Ms. Shi was taken to the Xiaojin Town Culture Station second floor where she was being tortured.
In November 2000, Ms. Shi and another practitioner went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. The Beijing Yongwai Police Station arrested and detained her. Ms. Shi was left on a small stool in an office for four consecutive days without being given any food or water. Her physical condition was deteriorating and the police released her.
In January 2001, officers Shao Jun and He Guohua illegally arrested her and sent her to the Xiaojin Kindergarten Brainwashing Center again.
On July 26, 2001, Ms. Shi was at home eating fruit with practitioners Yang Guoliang, Jiao Lili, Zhang Zhihe, Yue Yinfen, and Wang Meimei. Officer Shao Jun, He Guohua, and Jin Jianxun arrested them and exposed them to the baking sun for over six hours. The police officers took their money and sent them to the Xifeng Detention Center. Police officers beat them brutally and locked them in the detention center for one month. Ms. Shi was homeless for a month after she was released in order to avoid being arrested again. Later, police officers arrested her again and sent her to the Xifeng Drug Rehab Center and detained her there for 40 days. Ms. Shi was sentenced to one year of forced labor at the Lanzhou Forced Labor Camp.
In the Camp, Ms. Shi was once hung upside down and beaten for eight consecutive days. She had to stand facing the wall for three months another time. The camp forced her to do heavy physical work for which she did not have the strength and thus she passed out many times. When Shi's term was over on July 26, 2002, the police used the excuse that she had not written a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Gong and therefore, they took her to the Xifeng Drug Rehabilitation Center for brainwashing. Ms. Shi was physically weak and often vomited. She didn't eat for eight days and started to pass out a lot. When police officers saw that her life was in danger, they released her to avoid being held responsible for her death.
On September 4, 2002, when Ms. Shi was in bed recovering from the torture, eight officers from the Xiaojin Town Police Station, including Zhang Shaohua and Fan Zhe forcefully dragged her to the police station. Officer Zheng Xiang slapped her and humiliated her with vicious words and they kept her there for one day.
On the morning of March 26, 2003, officer Liu Hongwei noticed that Ms. Shi and another practitioner were distributing truth clarification materials. Ms. Shi was able to get away but the other practitioner didn't. Under pressure, this practitioner provided the police with Ms. Shi's whereabouts. The police arrested Ms. Shi and interrogated her for eight hours. In the end, the police took her to the Xifeng Detention Center and detained her there for three months. Afterward, Ms. Shi was sentenced to two years and six months forced labor.
Before Ms. Shi was taken to a forced labor camp, guard Yang Zhengkui
beat her and tortured her. Ms. Shi wasn't even given time to get ready
and pack her clothes before she was taken to the Lanzhou Second Forced
Labor Camp. While in the camp, Ms. Shi was forced to do intensive heavy
work, forced to stand for a long time, deprived of sleep, and wasn't
allowed to use the toilet. Guards instigated drug abusers to humiliate
her. Team leader Xia viciously beat her many times and
caused her to lose consciousness. Ms. Shi was not released until August
2005.
From October to December 2006, officers of the Wuwei City Public Security System and the Liangzhou District Government in Wuwei City executed a policy of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners, and launched a new cycle of persecution.
The family of Ms. Dong Jinlan (Dong Jinlan was persecuted to death), her past husband and their 4 orphans |
Liu Yongchun tortured to death at Jiuquan Prison |
They checked everybody who practiced Falun Gong citywide, requiring them to state their positions in written and signed statements. Those on the black list were monitored day and night, and thugs were recruited to lie in wait and arrest practitioners. They interrogated those who visited Falun Gong practitioners' homes whether they practiced Falun Gong or not, and abducting those they suspected. They abducted Ms. Han Xiuzhen, Ms. Yang Xiulian, Ms. Ma Yulan, Guo Yuliang and others.
In recent years, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents in Wuwei City have cooperated with the 610 Office and cruelly persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. Ms. Huang Xinjin, Ms. Dong Jinlan, and Mr. Wei Xinhua were persecuted to death, as were Mr. Song Yanzhao, Ms. Liu Lanxiang, and Mr. Liu Yongchun, whose cases have already been reported on Clearwisdom.net. Four truth clarification material production sites were destroyed, more than one million yuan was looted, thirty Falun Gong practitioners were illegally sentenced to prison and another thirty-seven people to forced labor camps, and more than 200 Falun Gong practitioners were illegally detained. Countless stereos, TVs, washing machines and other electronic devices were confiscated from their homes, even food and seeds were stolen, as was all the cash.
The National Security Team, lead by the infamous Chen
Fenggang, is the most vicious, they went so far as to burn the
practitioners' exercise mats. For his role Chen Fenggang was
promoted
to deputy chief of the police department.
In mid-December 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xu Jingwen and his son, Xu Changfeng, 19 years old, from Zhuwangbao Village, Zhuwangbao Town, Yongchang County, Jinchang City, Gansu Province, were arrested at home by local police and their belongings confiscated. The approximately 9000 yuan that the family had borrowed from relatives to pay for the eldest son's wedding was also taken. Afterwards, the police arrested Mr. Xu's wife, Ms. Xu Guixiang, and sent this family of three to Yongchang County Detention Center in Jinchang City. Prior to this, Mr. Xu Jingwen and his wife had been forced to become destitute and homeless for three years to avoid arrest.
Ms. Xu Guixiang began cultivating Falun Gong in 1998. Before that she had health problems that affected her whole body such as rheumatism, gynecological problems, etc. But after practicing Falun Gong all her diseases disappeared and she felt profound gratitude towards Falun Gong, which she credits for saving her life. After 1999 when the persecution of Falun Gong began, she went to Beijing to appeal in October 2000, requesting that Falun Gong's good name be restored. Because she appealed, she was taken into custody in Yongchang County Police Department for a month and then sent to Pingantai Forced Labor Camp in Lanzhou City for a year and a half. After she returned home in 2002 she continued to firmly practice Falun Gong. Yongchang County police officers arrested her again and sent her to the detention center there. In 2003 she was arrested for a third time and sent back to the same detention center in Yongchang County for approximately five months for clarifying the truth. In 2006 her home was ransacked by the police. After she escaped with righteous thoughts she was forced to become destitute and homeless to avoid being arrested again.
Ms. Xu Guixiang's husband, Mr. Xu Jingwen, is 45 years old. After seeing the huge improvements in his wife from practicing Falun Gong, as well as the persistence of the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of good people, Mr. Xu started to practice Falun Gong in 2002. In 2003 he was arrested by the police department in Yongchang County because he wrote a letter to the local police station, the town government, and the police department to clarify the truth. After being imprisoned in Yongchang County Detention Center for several months, he walked out with righteous thoughts and has been destitute and homeless since, unable to return to his home.
At the end of November 2006 Mr. Xu Jingwen and his wife quietly returned home to prepare for the wedding of their eldest son. They were reported to the authorities by people unaware of the truth. Plainclothes police disguised as hunters monitored their home. After spotting Mr. Xu Jingwen and his wife, approximately 40 people from the Zhuwangbao local police station of Yongchang County and the police department in Yongchang County rushed into their home, arrested Mr. Xu Jingwen and his younger son, and snatched the cash, a computer, and an air-gun from the family of Xu Jingwen's younger brother. Moreover they continue to harass the family.
The police took turns mercilessly beating Falun Gong practitioners
at
the local police station. Mr. Xu Jingwen and his son were beaten to
unconsciousness on the scene. The local police authorities feared being
held responsible for the practitioners' condition, so the two were sent
to the hospital first. They finally regained consciousness several days
later. Afterwards the police arrested Mr. Xu Jingwen's wife, Ms. Xu
Guixiang, and sent this family of three to Yongchang County,
Jinchang City, detention center.
On July 20, 2006, during the lunch hour, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Tan Haiyan, who was held in the 9th Cell of Panzhihua Detention Center, shouted three times: "Falun Dafa is good!" Guard Zeng Xiaomin yelled at the inmates who resided with Tan: "Why didn’t you cover her mouth?"
Guard Zeng Xiaomin used the "implication method" to punish everyone, including an inmate who has heart disease, by forcing them to stand from noon till three in the afternoon. Guard Zeng Xiaomin instigated each inmate to beat Tan Haiyan in turn, and whoever refused to do so would be punished by her. She also forced inmates to cover Tan Haiyan’s mouth with a dirty mop. Some inmates tore Tan’s sheet into long narrow strips and tied Tan’s hands behind her back.
After two days of continuous torture, Tan Haiyan’s legs were swollen from the kicking and she was covered with bruises. She suffered similar brutal abuse in April of 2006.
Mrs. Tan Haiyan is 44 years old; she was a worker from the Zhu Mine of the Panzhihua Steel Corporation in Sichuan. She was arrested on August 25, 2000 while clarifying the truth and sending out truth-clarifying material. She was held in the 3rd Division of the police department and was interrogated all night; the guards brutally tortured her, deprived her of sleep and hung her up with cuffs to an iron rail. She was sent to Wanyaoshu Detention Center the next day and held there for 45 days before being transferred to the Zizhong Women's Forced Labor Camp in Sichuan. She suffered all sorts of brutal torture: electric shocks to all parts of the body, being forced to stand for long periods of time, deprived of warm clothes in the winter, forced to stand under the baking sun in the summer, deprived of water, deprived of the right to go to the bathroom or take a shower, forced to take or accept injections of unidentified drugs, the "Big Hang Up", etc.
On April 9, 2006, Ms. Tan Haiyan was at home. The National Security agents from Panzhihua City and the security section of Zhu Mine of Panzhihua Steel Corporation and Policeman Jia Chongwen from Majiawan Police Station attempted to raid her home. She refused to open the door. The police used a crowbar to attempt to pry open the door and in the meantime went to find her husband and threatened him with a gun to open the door. When her husband came, the key no longer worked as the lock had already been damaged. After the police pried open the door, they raided the house, stole most of her personal belongings, illegally arrested Ms. Tan Haiyan, and took her to the Panzhihua Detention Center.
Ms. Tan Haiyan was sentenced to six years in the labor camp and held
in Chuanxi Female Prison in Longquanyi, Chengdu City.
