Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Wang Junhua and Mr. Zhang Zhiming from Tianshui City, Gansu Province have been illegally detained for one year in Hutubi County, Xinjiang Autonomous Region. The CCP authorities are attempting to sentence them to 10 years in prison.
In early September, 2005, practitioner Ms. Wang Junhua was clarifying the truth in Tianshui City, Gansu Province, and was being followed. She was forced to leave home. She went to Hutubi County, Xinjiang Autonomous Region to work for a living. During this time, she was reported for passing out Falun Gong truth-clarification flyers and CDs of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. In December of 2006, she was arrested by local police officer Wei Jingguo and others. The police also searched and robbed Ms. Wang's home, and took her computer, CD burner, printers and other things. They also took away over 10,000 yuan. The police deceived Ms. Liu to think that she could escape, and captured her again on the third day. Ms. Wang is still being held in the detention center of Hutubi County, Xinjiang Autonomous Region. She has suffered inhuman torture.
Practitioner Mr. Zhang Zhiming was a worker in the rice-management department of Weinan Town, Maiji District, Tianshui City, Gansu Province. On May 30th, 2005, he was searched by a plainclothesman while walking on the street. Because he had Falun Gong truth-clarification materials with him, he was arrested by the local police, and was tortured by the police. He had 1,000 yuan and other articles with him; they were all taken by the police. His home was searched, and everything in his home, as well as all the cash was stolen by the police. There was also a deposit book containing 10,000 yuan. The police forced Mr. Zhang to go to the bank and withdraw the cash, which they stole. The evil people also constantly harassed and persecuted Mr. Zhang's family members and relatives. His over 60-year old father was forced to borrow money from others until he put together 10,000 yuan. The police got the money, and Mr. Zhang was then bailed out and was told to await trial at home. But they still constantly harassed and persecuted him and his family. Mr. Zhang was fired from his work unit, and had no income.. With no other choice, Mr. Zhang went to Hutubi County, Xinjiang Autonomous Region to work for a living. On Chinese New Year's Eve of 2006, Mr. Zhang went back home to celebrate Chinese New Year with his family. The next morning, Chinese New Year, which was January 29th, 2006, it was still dark outside. Feng Jitang, the leader of the national security group, also the head of the local 610 Office and the chief of the political security section, along with three policemen, broke into Mr. Zhang's home and forcibly arrested him. Their reason was that Mr. Zhang did not ask them for permission when he went to work in Xinjiang Autonomous Region, and now they must question him. More than twenty days later, Mr. Zhang's relatives finally got the news through asking many people, that the police took him because when Mr. Zhang was working in Xinjiang Autonomous Region, he and Ms. Wang Junhua had worked together to make informational CDs. They also found out that Mr. Zhang was taken to Hutubi County Police Department in Xinjiang Autonomous Region. Mr. Zhang's relatives did not even get to see him. They did not receive a detention notice from Hutubi County Police Department until the end of February.
Ms. Wang and Mr. Zhang's relatives went to Xinjiang Autonomous Region to try to see them many times. But the police used every way to not let them visit Ms. Wang and Mr. Zhang. Eventually, the relative had to bribe the police, and the police let them see the two practitioners for 12 minutes.
Recently, Hutubi County Police Department, the county procuratorate,
and Changii Uygur Autonomous Region Court colluded with each other and
attempted to sentence the two practitioners to 10 years or more in
prison. But the police said that if each practitioner paid 35,000 yuan,
then they could be released or sentenced to less time in prison.
Their
relatives believed the police, and each family paid over 10,000 yuan.
Now both families are heavily in debt. The police continually demand
more money, and at the same time, the authorities are still proceeding
to put them on trial. The current condition of the two practitioners is
unknown.

On October 24, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Hongwei from Jilin City and his wife Mu Ping were illegally arrested by National Security personnel. Afterwards, their home was ransacked and property such as their computer, cash, a 70,000 yuan bankbook, Falun Gong books, truth-clarifying VCDs, and other items were confiscated. On October 25, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Liu Hongwei and Ms. Mu Ping were imprisoned at the Jilin Municipal Detention Center. Liu Hongwei and Mu Ping have been imprisoned in Room 101 and Room 608 in the detention center respectively, for two and a half months.
During this period the police interrogated and tortured Mr.
Liu many times, causing severe injuries; now he has difficulty walking.
His over 70-year-old mother went to the interrogation section of the
Chuanying District Police Department many times to ask the person
directly responsible, Wang Shouyi (male), about Mr. Liu Hongwei's
health situation and the reason why the police beat him. Wang Shouyi
quibbled: "We did not beat anyone."
After Mr. Liu's family members' repeated inquiries, Wang Shouyi said, "Mr. Liu Hongwei's leg was not injured. His lower back was, but that has nothing to do with us, since it was injured at Kouqian Town in Jilin Province." We know from this that during Mr. Liu Hongwei's imprisonment at the detention center he was interrogated by the police and suffered torture aiming to force him to give them information to use as evidence to sentence him.
On November 28, the Chuanying District Procuratorate of Jilin City gave out a notice of authorization for the arrest of Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Liu Hongwei and Ms. Mu Ping. Liu Hongwei refused to sign the arrest notice. It is known now that Mr. Liu has been on a hunger strike at the detention center to resist this persecution.

Led by Xiong Yong, deputy leader of the National Security Group of Dayi County Police Department, along with the policemen, some from Dayi Criminal Police Team and Anren Town Police Station took Ms. Wang home by force and ransacked her place, leaving nothing unturned. On June 1, 2006, Xiong Yong transferred Ms. Wang to Dayi County Police Department and handcuffed her by the wrists to the frame on top of a chair. With Ms. Wang's arms stretched over her head, Xiong Yong forced her to sit on the ground with her legs stretched straight. Anytime she bent her legs, Xiong Yong would step on her legs. Xiong Yong tortured her in this fashion for two days. On the morning of June 4, Xiong Yong repeated the torture for another half a day.
The torture caused Ms. Wang to be unable to lift her arms. She was illegally detained for 10 days and was not released until June 8.
On June 26, 2006, Ms. Wang was plucking weeds from a field when a group of county policemen, including Xiong Yong, You Anjun (male) and Liu Xuemei (female), as well as policeman Gao Song from Sujia Town, illegally arrested her. Other farmers witnessing the crime condemned them for the illegal arrest, and the police told them fiercely, "If you dare to obstruct justice, we will arrest you too."
Once taken to Dayi County Police Department, Xiong Yong repeated the torture around the clock for two days, except this time he used three pairs of handcuffs. In the late afternoon when Xiong Yong had dinner and a few drinks, he returned to the office and started torturing Ms. Wang again. Xiong repeatedly slapped her hard on the face, choked her until she was about to pass out, repeatedly kicked her thighs and arms and stepped on her wrists. He kept cursing Ms. Wang during the torture. Late at night, another policeman named Huang Weidong from Anren Police Station pulled Ms. Wang's hair and said to her, "Let me wake you up."
On the late afternoon of June 27, Xiong Yong came to the office after dinner and told policeman You Anjun to leave the room. Xiong dropped on one knee on top of Ms. Wang's legs and repeatedly slapped her hard on the face. Next he repeatedly hit her with a shoe. He tried to suffocate Ms. Wang, cursed at her and said, "I will ruin your body and throw you into an insane asylum. You Falun Gong practitioners call me evil. Yes, I want to be evil. There is nothing better than being evil because I can torture you. What is the use of being kind? I am going to torture you until you wish you were dead."
On June 28, the police tortured Ms. Wang in the morning and put her back into Liangping Detention Center in the afternoon. As a result of the torture, Ms. Wang had become very weak. Her wrists were cut by the handcuffs. She could not lift her arms and, thus, had difficulty eating. She had no feeling in her left palm. Ms. Wang was held for a total of 12 days and was finally released on July 8, 2006.
Yan Po, the leader of the National Security Group of Dayi County Police Department, has repeatedly intimidated and threatened Ms. Wang Liqiong. He has also allowed the police to commit crimes against Falun Gong practitioners at will. Since the end of April 2006, the director of Dayi County 610 Office Yang Liang, the leader of the National Security Group Yan Po, policemen Xiong Yong and others have illegally arrested over a dozen Falun Gong practitioners, including Ms. Wang Liqiong, Mr. Wang Xiaosong, Mr. Yu Shaoping, Ms. Zhao Chunrong, Mr. Li Guoliang, Ms. Yang Daiying, Ms. Gong Shulian, Ms. Yang Yuqiong, Yaya and others.
