On August 24, 2006, David Kilgour, former Secretary of State (Asia-Pacific) for Canada and the Vice President of the European Parliament, Edward McMillan-Scott visited New Zealand and met with members of parliament (MP) from four parties. They introduced the Kilgour/Matas "Report into Allegations of Organ Harvesting of Falun Gong Practitioners in China". The Parliament members condemned the CCP’s atrocities.
Guohua Huang talks about his experience of being persecuted to the members of Parliament |
A UN refugee accepted by New Zealand, practitioner Guohua Huang, narrated his miserable experience due to the persecution in China to the members of Parliament. His 29-year-old, three-month pregnant wife was tortured to death by the CCP for persisting in her practice of Falun Gong. She left behind a young daughter. During his imprisonment, Mr. Huang was examined for liver function for three times, only because of his coughing. After the exposure of the CCP’s live organ removal, he realized that he would have been used for the organ harvesting if his blood was not "like an eighty-year-old person" (doctor’s words). The members of parliament on site were sympathetic to his suffering.

MP Wayne Mapp said that he met many Falun Gong practitioners and was paying more attention to the persecution of Falun Gong. The severity and extension of this persecution is unimaginable. It’s horrible. After learning that many practitioners were arrested, imprisoned, or killed, he realized that it is a large-scale suppression in China. Though New Zealand has a good relationship with China, this does not mean that New Zealand should remain silent facing this most severe violation of human rights.
MP Mapp also said that during Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao’s visit to New Zealand this year, Prime Minister Clark put forward the Chinese human rights issue, which should have made the CCP feel pressure from the international community. When New Zealand talks about economic and commercial trade with China, we should persist in our basic values, that is, against the persecution and steadfastly in support of human rights.
MP Pita Paraone said that he thought that more people should know about the CCP’s atrocities of live organ removal. Today such barbaric atrocities against humans cannot be continued. He is disappointed at each government’s attitude on this issue since each government casts a blind eye on human rights issues because of concern for trade and economic interests.
The leader of the Mori Party, Tariana Turia, and a spokesperson of foreign affairs of the Greens, Keith Locke, also condemned the CCP’s live organ removal and put forward suggestions about how to get the attention of each government and organization.
On the evening of August 24, Mr. Kilgour and Mr.
McMillan-Scott participated in a forum at the Law School of Victoria
University and talked about their investigation of the CCP’s live organ
removal. They also answered questions from the media and public.

At noon and in the evening on August 21, 2006, two seminars about the CCP's harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners were held at the Thomas Moore Center in Melbourne, home of the National Civil Council. Peter Westmore, the president of the National Civil Council, hosted the seminars. David Kilgour, the former Canadian secretary of State for Asia and the Pacific, Edward McMillan-Scott, the vice-president of the European parliament, Victor Perton, MP of Victoria, Jan Becker, an Olympic Silver Medal winner, and two Falun Gong practitioners—Zhang Dongfan and Dai Zhizhen—were invited to give a talk.

Peter Westmore, MP of Victoria, said that he sent an email to his colleagues in the parliament, inviting them to the public forum in Canberra, at which Mr. McMillan-Scott and David Kilgour would speak. What surprised Mr. Westmore MP was that the Chinese Embassy emailed him, because one of Westmore's colleagues forwarded his email to the Chinese Embassy. So Mr. Westmore emailed the Chinese councilor to invite him to the forum. The Chinese councilor replied but didn't say if he would attend or not. Mr. Westmore saved a seat for him.
Mr. Westmore said that he invited everyone at the seminar to write to every parliament member, every CEO of big Australian companies, and the president of the Australian Olympic Committee about the CCP's harvesting of organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. He said that everybody should invite his or her friends to write such a letter. Mr. Westmore said the Australian politicians and businessmen know what is happening in China, but they don't want to talk about it, because they want to do business with the Chinese. He said that if everybody steps forward a little, then the evil power will be eliminated and the evil behavior will be stopped.
Mr. Kilgour said that he would like to compare the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong with the persecution of Christians by the Roman empire. He said that the belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" is the opposite of the CCP's brutality. Mr. Kilgour listed the evidence of the CCP's harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. As to how to stop the brutality, he said that people can write or call their congressmen and senators. We can exert pressure on the CCP. He said that everybody knows that the CCP is concerned about the Olympic Games in 2008 in Beijing. If the CCP is still persecuting Falun Gong in 2008, no government should attend the Olympic Games in Beijing.
Mr. McMillan-Scott said that they have verified the evidence given by the Canada Independent Investigation Group. He said that in China, the systemic killing of Falun Gong practitioners to make profits is happening on a large scale, and constitutes the crime of genocide. Mr. McMillan-Scott said that he believes the Australian government will criticize what is happening and support Falun Gong practitioners and other political prisoners. Mr. McMillan-Scott hoped that a union, including the international organizations such as Red Cross and the UN, would be formed to investigate these issues.

Falun Gong practitioner Dai Zhizhen and her daughter talk about their experience of being persecuted. |
Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Dongfan talked about her experience of being persecuted: she had been arrested six times, jailed in detention centers twice, and put in brainwashing centers twice. She was sentenced to labor camps one and a half years twice. In the labor camps, she was forced to do heavy labor 16 hours a day. During the first time in a labor camp, she had a physical examination. The labor camp didn't give her the result of the examination.
Falun Gong practitioner Dai Zhizhen and her daughter came from Sydney to the seminar. She told the attendees how her family was destroyed by the CCP. She called upon everybody to read the investigation report. She said: "I and my daughter, as the representatives of all the women and children who are being persecuted by the CCP, call upon the public to take actions to stop the persecution."
Attendees discussed how to draw public attention to the organ harvesting and how to encourage congressmen and senators to exert pressure on the CCP.
After the seminars, some attendees told reporters that they were shocked by the investigation results and they hoped that the Australian government would take action to stop it.
Paul Kavanagh, a Democratic candidate from Melbourne, said
that he doesn't know what he can do, but he gave a suggestion that the
Australian government should forbid Australians to have organ
transplants using the organs from such sources. He suggested that the
Australian government should let the Australians know that it is
illegal. The Australian government has made laws to forbid Australian
citizens to do certain things in other countries, such as child abuse.
Mr. Kavanagh said that receiving organ transplants from illegal sources
should be forbidden too. He said that we should not allow Australians
to get involved and help the organ harvesting.

From August 14 to 18, 2006, four practitioners from Toronto conducted an SOS car tour in Northern Ontario and three cities of Quebec. The whole journey was nearly 4000 kilometers and passed through thirteen cities. They met members of local city councils, provincial parliaments, the federal parliament, and mayors. They also conducted a series of press conferences and exposed the CCP’s atrocities of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners.
In each location, they introduced the Canadian independent investigation team’s "Report into Allegations of Organ Harvesting of Falun Gong Practitioners in China" to members of city councils parliaments, and media. They exposed the CCP’s atrocities and called on local people, government, members of councils and parliament, and media to help and support Falun Gong practitioners, condemn and stop CCP’s atrocities.
The people, government officials, members of councils and parliaments, and reporters who knew the fact were indignant about the CCP’s crimes. People could not imagine that such brutal atrocities are occurring today in the 21st century. Human rights are not confined to country or race. When human rights are trampled, anyone can stand up to condemn and help stop it.
A Member of Parliament in Quebec and his assistant were shocked at the CCP’s crimes of live organ removal and promised to talk about the CCP’s crimes with other members next month when the parliament resumes meeting.
In Thunder Bay the mayors of Elliot Lake and Temiskaming Shores met with Falun Gong practitioners and listened to their introduction. In some cities, mayors and council members were out of town, but their executive secretaries and assistants met with the practitioners. They were touched after hearing the facts and said they would transfer the truth-clarification materials to the mayors and members of the city council. They also encouraged the practitioners to explain the facts to everyone.
In Quebec, French is the official language. An assistant to a Member of Parliament in Val- d’Or was not good in English. After listening to the practitioner’s explanation through a translator, the assistant said, "Never heard of such thing. It’s horrible. We will extend your explanation to the MP." In Thunder Bay, the assistant to Michael Gravelle, Member of the Provincial Parliament, had tears in eyes after listening to the practitioners’ explanation and said, "You are doing good. Because of language and culture, we did not know Falun Gong before and why it is persecuted. We keep in touch and I will help you." Before the practitioners departed, he shook hands with each of them and presented them with city badges.
A reporter in Hearst interviewed the practitioners for one hour and learned in detail about the Canadian Independent Investigation Team’s report and the grace of Falun Gong. The reporter listened to practitioners’ explanation of the persecution in China and expressed sympathy for the practitioners. In Thunder Bay, three mainstream media came to the press conference and were shocked at the CCP’s atrocities. On the next day, they all carried the news of the SOS car tour.
On the trip, practitioners experienced the Canadian people’s kindness. People who knew the facts were indignant and some had tears.
A young man said after reading the flyer, "I will let my girlfriend read and know the facts." A senior citizen asked a practitioner after reading the flyer, "How can we help stop the persecution?"
A policeman stopped the practitioners’ car on the highway and checked their identifications. The practitioners explained the facts to him. He listened for more than 20 minutes and said, "It’s horrible. I never heard of it. I"ll let my colleagues know about this." He asked for a whole set of the truth-clarification materials.
The most touching event was in Timmins. The practitioners were
told that a media in Quebec need a photo of the car tour urgently. Due
to time constraints, they could not process the photo and send it via
the internet. They asked a photographer at a local photoshop to take
the photo. After listening to the practitioners’ explanation of the
facts, she was very supportive. She selected a background scene for the
practitioners and took the photo. She did not accept a penny but
promised to send the photo to that media organization.

On Saturday August 26th, UK Falun Gong practitioners held a march through central London, to help the public know about Falun Gong and the persecution that has been waged against the practice for the last seven years.
The march began at the Chinese Embassy, where Falun Gong practitioners have protested 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for over 4 years. The march moved down Regent Street and finished in Chinatown. A megaphone was used to let people know the purpose of the march: To call for an end to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) human rights abuses against Falun Gong.

Practitioners carried banners that exposed some of the CCP’s persecution crimes against Falun Gong. A particular focus of the parade was to tell people about how the CCP harvests organs from living Falun Gong practitioners and sells them to transplant seekers for vast profits. The victims’ bodies are then cremated to hide the evidence. Thousands of practitioners are believed to have died this way.
A recent report authored by former Canadian Secretary of State
(Asia Pacific) David Kilgour and Canadian human rights lawyer David
Matas confirms the allegations that the horrifying organ harvesting
abuses are occurring on a large scale against Falun Gong practitioners
in China. The report called these abuses "a grotesque form of evil
which, despite all the depravations humanity has seen, would be new to
this planet."
Practitioners handed out a 16-page newspaper that reports in
depth on the CCP’s organ harvesting, as well as the reasons behind the
persecution of Falun Gong. The newspaper also provided people with
details on the practice of Falun Gong, which consists of five sets of
peaceful meditative exercises and the improvement of one’s morality
through living by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and
Tolerance.
As well as the newspapers, leaflets were handed out in both Chinese and English. Many people asked practitioners for more information or expressed their concern about the human rights atrocities.
After the march, smaller activities were held in several
central London locations. Practitioners set up pavement poster displays
so that people could learn more about Falun Gong and the persecution.
Many people spent a long time looking at the posters and also watched
demonstrations of the Falun Gong exercises. Petition signatures were
collected, as many people wanted to voice their opposition to the CCP
abuses and do their bit to help end the suffering of Falun Gong
practitioners.
