Falun Gong practitioner Li Yequan, from Heilongjiang Province, has been on a hunger strike to protest his illegal imprisonment for more than nine months. His situation is extremely critical. On June 19, his family members went to Suihua Labor Camp and the Labor Camp Bureau in Heilongjiang to ask for his release. The bureau and the labor camp both tried to dodge the request by refusing to meet with them.

Let's take a look at some of the past crimes committed at Suihua Labor Camp: Daqing bleaching assistant plant engineer Zuo Guoqin, 37 years old, was not allowed to study the Fa or practice the exercises at Suihua Labor Camp. Every day four people monitored him, and he was forced to read massive amounts of material that slandered Master and Falun Gong. Feeling devastated by this kind of spiritual torture, his condition worsened day by day. His whole body developed a severe state of edema. He could not eat food, he was weak, and his life was endangered. However, he was still not released. When he was finally released, he died just a few days after returning home.

A Falun Gong practitioner at Daqing Second Oil Extracting Factory, An Senbiao, 38 years old, suffered such tortures as being burnt, being pricked with needles, having his mouth filled with laundry soap, being shocked with an electric baton, and being sexually abused at Suihua Labor Camp. On July 13, 2005, a family member took home An Senbiao, who had been persecuted nearly to death. In former days when An Senbiao was healthy, his body weight was 62.5 kilograms (138 lb.), but now he was only 42.5 kilograms (94 lb.). Because he was tied-up and handcuffed for long periods of time, both of his arms are straight and stiff. He cannot bend his arms and has extreme difficulty taking care of himself.

At around 1 o'clock on November 24, 2005, a group of police officers headed by Qiu Tianming and Sun Luning, arrested four Falun Gong practitioners, including Yao Jiaxiu, Li Daizhen, Xiao Huizai and You Yuanzhang, at Qingxiangping Square. During the arrest, You Yuanzhang shouted, "The bad guys are arresting the good people." The policemen immediately held him to the floor, handcuffed him and brought him to the National Security Detachement of the 610 Office. Other police involved in the persecution of You Yuanzhang were Zou Yongjun and Duan Qing. You Yuanzhuang's house was illegally broken into and ransacked on the same afternoon.

On their way to the Yanbian Detention Center, You Yuanzhang started shouting "Falun Dafa is  good!" in the car. Police Sun Luning and Huang Jianjun immediately stuffed a dirty towel used for car washing into his mouth. You's tooth was knocked out. The police covered You's head with a piece of black cloth.

Falun Gong practitioners began singing "Falun Dafa is  good" when they reached the entrance of the Wanyaoshu Detention Center. Practitioner Yao Jiaxiu was then brutally beaten about the chest by a police officer and she landed heavily on the floor.

At around 9:00 a.m. on December 1, the police covered You Yuanzhang's eyes with a piece of black cloth and took him out of Yanbian Detention Center. You was brought to their "nest"- the attic of Jingu Restaurant (estimated at the seventh floor) where he was handcuffed to the windows, with only the tip of his toes touching the ground. Sun Luning and Huang Jianjun took turns slapping You Yuanzhang in the face. If You's toes were to touch the ground, he would be given a hard kick to his body, and when he refused to respond to a set-up that the policemen devised, the police would immediately raise the height of the cuffing, lifting the tip of his toes to 10 cm. (4 in.) off the ground.

In order to torture You, Sun Luning held him between his arms and jerked him down, causing the handcuff to sink into his skin until it reached his bones. You fainted from the piercing pain. Then the perpetrators poured ice-cold water on You's face, and lifted up his eyelids to check if he was dead. You was finally released from the hanging position after a long time. When he finally regained his consciousness, he found himself lying on the floor. The police said to him, "If you don't give in, after your hands become handicapped, we'll hang you from your feet."

It was not until 4:00 p.m., when You Yuanzhang was tortured until he was half-conscious, did he unknowingly give in to their demands. It was already night when You Yuanzhang had returned to the detention center. His eyes were always covered by a piece of black cloth while traveling in and out of the detention center. You Yuanzhang's left fingers were numb for more than four months. Even though they recovered, the scars can still be seen.

The attic of Jingu Restaurant is a den of evil for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. All there is in the attic is a wooden stool with abraded wood and paint, while the metal surface of the protecting fence is shiny. A lot of other Falun Gong practitioners, including Xu Langzhou and Chen Heqiong, have all been brutally persecuted there.

Furthermore, Falun Gong practitioner Feng Zhongliang (in his forties) from Panzhihua City, was illegally incarcerated and persecuted in the detention center for six months for clarifying the truth at his workplace. After he was released, his company forced him to work in the depot, and has yet to award him his salary. During the illegal detention, his family was cheated out of many thousands of dollars by a lawyer.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Jiaju from Huangni Township, Yongxing County, Hunan Province is in her 50s. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. Various agents from different levels of government had detained her after the persecution began on July 20, 1999. She was also abused at a labor camp and prison. She spent four Chinese New Years inside prisons and labor camps.

On October 21, 2005, a practitioner went to Changsha Women's Prison in Hunan Province to visit two daughters incarcerated there. Li Jiaju accompanied the practitioner. They clarified the truth and distributed truth clarification materials to the guards at the reception room. The prison authorities immediately detained them. Li Jiaju was sent once again to a detention center in Yongxing County, and held there the next day.

Following several months of abuse under the persecution, in January 2006 Li Jiaju was again sent to the Baimalong Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City. She upheld her belief and held a long-term hunger strike to protest. She is extremely weak and her life is in danger.

After the persecution against Falun Gong began in July 1999, lawless officials frequently harassed Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xu Jiayan in Jinghai Town, Beihai, Guangxi Province. They illegally detained him, ransacked his home, monitored and intimidated him at his home and took him to a brainwashing class.

Xu Jiayan was arrested in Jianshe Square by officers from Jianshe Police Department on July 22, 1999. He was held for more than ten hours.

On July 11, 2000, a dozen police officers ransacked Xu Jiayan¡¦s home and took him to the Gaode Police Station. They detained him for a few hours and then sent him to the 2nd Detention Center in Pingyang, where he was forced to do slave labor for fifteen days.

Prior to October 2003, the police harassed Xu Jiayan at his home and then took him to the police station and held him there for a few hours. They also threatened his family.

On October 4, 2003, officers from the local 610 Office and from the police department and the Politics and Law Committee arrested Xu Jiayan and held him at the Haicheng District Police Department for three days and three nights. They later transferred him to Jinghai Town office and held him there for a few days. He later escaped, but the officials again threatened his family.
