Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Cao Huashan and his wife Li Shulian of Yanan City, Shaanxi Province, have been persecuted many times. When unlawfully detained at a forced labor camp, Mr. and Mrs. Cao protested by hunger striking for 40 days and 90 days respectively. Now they are both critically ill and near death. It is urgent that they be released from detention.
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Cao Huashan, a chemistry teacher at Yanan Middle School, was deeply respected by both students and colleagues. He was awarded prizes many times for his calligraphy artwork. As a practitioner of Falun Gong, Mr. Cao adhered to the principles of Truthfulness - Compassion - Forbearance and was highly regarded as a good person. His wife is also a Falun Gong practitioner. Together, they were very happy.
After July 20, 1999, when the persecution first began, Mr. and Mrs. Cao went to Beijing to ask for the ban on Falun Gong to be lifted. They were arrested and sent back to Yanan City. From then on, Wang Xia, Secretary General of the City Committee (she is also a Shaanxi Provincial Committee member), has done everything possible to persecute Mr. Cao Huashan and Ms. Li Shulian.
Wang Xia sent Mr. Cao to Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp. Mr. Cao conducted hunger strikes to protest the persecution. However, he was transferred from the 1st Group to the 4th Group, where the persecution was stepped up. Policeman Feng Xiyao at the 4th Group directed the criminal inmates to torture Mr. Cao. In the guise of treating Mr. Cao's hemorrhoids, convicts Ge Zhengui, Zhang Pingshe, and others devastated him so much he became one of the most severely persecuted practitioners there. His treatment at Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp has been reported on the Clearwisdom website.
When Mr. Cao returned home from Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp, he and his wife were watched closely and repeatedly harassed. In desperation, Mr. and Mrs. Cao decided to go to Yulin City to find work. When Wangxia found that the couple had left town, she angrily ordered her staff to "catch Cao Huashan and Li Shulian at any cost." Later, Mr. Cao Huashan, Ms. Li Shulian, and their 19-year-old son were found in Yulin City and arrested. Mr. and Mrs. Cao were again sent to forced labor camps without any legal procedure. Not even their family members were notified of their arrest.
Currently, Mr. Cao Huashan and Ms. Li Shulian are suffering persecution in the Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp and Shaanxi Provincial Women's Forced Labor Camp. At the time of this report, Mr. Cao Huashan has spent more than 40 days on hunger strike. His life is in critical condition.
Meanwhile, at Shaanxi Provincial Women's Forced Labor Camp, Ms. Li Shulian has been on hunger strike for more than 90 days. During brutal forced feedings, the camp personnel have knocked out several of Ms. Li's front teeth. She is skeletal and near-death. Her family is not allowed to visit her.
AppendixNames of those who have participated in persecuting Mr. Cao Huashan and Ms. Li Shulian and received karmic retribution:
Yang Jun -- Formerly Director of the Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp brainwashing center. He directed and participated in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners detained at the Zaozihe Labor Camp. He caused the death of practitioner Mr. Chen Jiansheng. In early 2006, Yang suddenly became seriously ill and almost lost his life. Now, he is disabled and lives a restricted life.
Liu Dihua -- Previously Section Director of the 610 Office of Weibin District. Liu has been persecuting Falun Gong since 1999. On January 21, 2004, Liu and his mistress were found dead in the bathroom of her house. The cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning.
Guo Manli -- Previously leader of the 610 Office at the Electric Power Plant of Xian City's Westside District. He hunted down Falun Gong practitioners to persecute them. In 2004 his mother died of cancer. Still, Guo did not realize his sins and continued to persecute Falun Gong. Before long, he got cancer and died at age 42 on February 8, 2005.
I started practicing Falun Gong in 1996. I follow the principles of Truth, Compassion and Tolerance and strive to be a good person. As a result, I benefited both spiritually and physically, and my moral standard also improved. Jiang's regime started brutally persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. Since then, I have been detained and my home ransacked because of my belief in Falun Gong.
On June 18, 2000, I went to Daqing Petroleum Management Bureau to appeal for Falun Gong. As a result, I was arrested. The police from Babeishang Station in Honggang District (now called Babeishang District Police Department) detained me and jailed me in Daqing City Detention Center for three days. Many practitioners were detained there so it was very crowded. Police sent some of us to Daqing City's Longfeng Detention Center. The police from Babeishang Security Office interrogated us. They shouted, "Who told you to practice the exercises that day? Who attended the Falun Gong conference?" We refused to answer. They then blatantly struck us with rubber belts. Practitioners were beaten and sustained dark bruises on their buttocks. It was unbearably painful. Two police struck my face and I was seeing stars as a result of the beating. After they finished beating us, they asked us to squat for several hours. Some fainted. When we practiced the exercises, police in the Longfeng Detention Center would beat us. I was detained for fifty-eight days.
In January of 2001, a student in my class asked me about Falun Gong. I then clarified truth to the students and told them that Falun Gong was good. The officials in my school knew about it and asked me to stop teaching for several days. Because another fellow practitioner posted Falun Gong materials in school, the school officials called the Babeishang Security Office. A police officer with the surname Jiang sent this practitioner and me to Daqing City Detention Center. We were detained there for thirty days. Later we were transferred to Honggang Area Detention Center where we were detained for another fifteen days before we were finally released.
In August of 2002, four police from Babeishang Security Office including Lin Shui and Zhang Xiaosong came to my school and arrested me. Later they ransacked my home. I was detained at Daqing City Detention center for one month and transferred to Daqing City Shaertu Area Detention Center where I was detained for two months. With fabricated evidence from materials ransacked from my home, Babeishang Security Office sentenced me to three years in prison. In February of 2003, I was sent to Harbin Women's Prison where I was further persecuted.
All practitioners who newly arrive at Harbin Women's Prison are required to be "trained" for three months by the "intensive training team." Guards forced us to watch and listen to videos attacking Falun Gong. If we refused, guards and inmates would beat and insult us. In order to brainwash practitioners, the prison brought a large amount of propaganda denouncing and slandering Falun Gong. Guards and inmates who helped with the "transformation" would be awarded or have their term reduced. With the incitement of guards, inmates became increasingly rampant in beating and insulting Falun Gong practitioners.
After I was tortured for four months in the intensive training team, I was sent to the ninth prison area. Guards and inmates there forced us to sit on plastic chairs from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. One time I closed my eyes. Guards then dragged me to the duty room, taped my mouth to prevent me from speaking and handcuffed me behind my back for over one hour, causing excruciating pain in my arms. They set up a transformation classes in each prison area. Guards tried to brainwash me to give up my belief in Truth, Compassion and Tolerance. Guard Jia Wenjun asked me, "Which one do you choose: our country or Falun Gong, the Chinese Communit Party or your Teacher? .... You must choose one." I replied, "I choose Falun Gong and will follow our Teacher." He furiously slapped my face. Guards incited inmates to read materials slandering Falun Gong every day. They also asked them to follow us closely (called "body-followers"). Otherwise guards would punish inmates by deducting their labor hours. This way inmates were forced to beat, insult and torture us with various methods.
I protested the torture. Consequently the guards and inmates dragged me to a small room and beat me. They forced us to repeatedly read materials slandering Falun Gong. We refused. They then beat us with a stool, soles of shoes and a thermo filled with water. Our hair was pulled out. For very determined practitioners, Guard Jia Wenjun incited inmates to write down Master Li's name and put it in our underwear. They would also stomped on Master Li's name and insulted Him with terrible curse words. One time I did not wear the name tag with my "crime" on it, so guard Jia Wenjun and other criminals beat me and wrote on me phrases denouncing Master Li and Falun Gong. They said, "We will not insult your Teacher as long as you wear the name tag." Some practitioners refused to be brainwashed. They were deprived of sleep for over ten days. If they closed their eyes, they would be beaten up.
Falun Gong practitioners who follow the principle of Truth,
Compassion and
Tolerance have suffered such torture both mentally and physically by
Chinese
Communist regime. I had been tortured for three years and was finally
released
in August of 2005.
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gao Jidong was born on March 7, 1973 and died July 15, 2006. The following is his story.
Gao Jidong graduated from the Finance and Taxation Career School in Jilin Province. He became a staff member at the Foreign Branch of the Changchun Municipal Taxation Bureau in 1996 and began practicing Falun Gong in 1997. After the persecution started in 1999, police officers arrested him twice from work at the urging of 610 Office agents from the Luyuan District. The persecutors sent him to the Xinglongshan brainwashing center in March 2001 and July 2002. Gao Jidong suffered from severe physical persecution and mental torment in the brainwashing class.
Gao Jidong followed the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" in his work and daily life after he started to practice Falun Gong. He took fame and self-interest lightly and was always willing to help others. His supervisors and coworkers liked and respected him very much. Zhang Lianfang, the general manager of his workplace said to him in 2000, "You really deserve the title 'model worker.' The only thing that disqualifies you is that you practice Falun Gong."
Because Gao Jidong handled things promptly, his clients, mostly representatives responsible for turning in taxes from other companies, would give him gifts or money to express their gratitude. He refused to accept any of them. Even when his clients secretly put money in his desk he would send it back as soon as he discovered it. Some people didn't understand why he refused to take the "gratuity." Gao Jidong told them, "I am a Falun Gong practitioner. It is morally incorrect for me to do that. I don't accept any gifts or money that I have not earned."
Agents from a local police station requested Gao Jidong to go see them on October 30, 1999. Once there, chief Zheng repeatedly asked him whether or not he would continue to practice Falun Gong. He even slapped him twice and grabbed his hair and banged his head against a wall. Following the interrogation, Gao Jidong was sent to the Daguang Detention Center simply because he openly expressed his views.
Fifteen days later the authorities transferred Gao Jidong to the local police station again. The police and neighborhood administration office people tried to coerce him into giving up his belief in Falun Gong. He clarified truth to them in a noble and dignified manner. The police and administrators were completely at a loss for words. While in the police station Gao Jidong was continuously handcuffed to a radiator. In the evening he was sent to the detention center again and not released until two weeks later.
Gao Jidong went to Beijing alone in December 2000 to appeal, based on the injustices he and some of his fellow practitioners had to endure. He was arrested there and held in the Changping District. The police did not know what to do with him because he refused to reveal his name and address and staged a hunger strike. They released him three days later.
In March 2001, Gao Jidong refused to attend a meeting that was intended to slander Falun Gong. Before leaving work in the afternoon on March 6, 2001 lawless personnel at his work place sent him to the Xinglongshan brainwashing class where he suffered torture. He remained clear-minded when suffering torture and refuted the lies in the brainwashing class. When elderly people and women were suffering from torture he always spoke out to stop the brutality. Evildoing police officer Zheng Zhen got very angry at him and beat him savagely. This left his face twisted and his eyes swollen and bloodied. The brainwashing class officials were afraid to let Gao Jidong's family visit him. As a way of torment, they forbade him to take showers in the hot summer.
As of mid-July 2001, Gao Jidong went on a hunger strike to protest the inhumane persecution, such as being forbidden to go to the restroom at night. He became emaciated and started to have abnormal symptoms. On the evening of July 21, 2001, he was sent to the Changchun Municipal Hospital. His family was notified. When Gao Jidong's family members rushed to the hospital, the agents from the Luyuan District "610 Office" and the brainwashing class all left the hospital because they were afraid to take responsibility. After Gao Jidong's release from the hospital, he was forbidden by his work unit to go back to work.
In June 2002, Mr. Gao requested to go back to work, a request the general manager approved. Two weeks later a supervisor had a one-on-one meeting with him at work and was planning to send him to a brainwashing class. Gao Jidong recounted his personal experience of suffering persecution in the brainwashing class. He also spoke of the sole purpose of these brainwashing classes - that the sole purpose for their existence is to persecute people; and there is no way one can reason with the persecutors.
Mr. Gao decided not to go to work any more lest he would be subjected to persecution again. At the same time he wrote to the general manger of his workplace to explain the situation and called the Luyuan District "610 Office" to report to them the persecution he was subjected to in the brainwashing class.
Several days later, people from Mr. Gao's workplace called him and told him that he may go back to work, as approved by several managers. Only ten days after he had returned to work, agents from the Jincheng Police Department arrested him from work at 2:00 p.m. on July 23, 2002. After intensive interrogation and intimidation, the persecutors locked him in the basement of the Jincheng Police Department and handcuffed him to a metal chair for the whole night.
Gao Jidong's family members went to the police department the next day to demand his release. The police lied to them, saying that they didn't know anything. It was only after Gao Jidong's family checked with his employers did they find out that Gao Jidong was sent to the Xinglongshan brainwashing class again. The second arrest was a result of a conspiracy between people from Gao Jidong's workplace and the police department. Wang Mao, the then general manager of the taxation bureau was personally involved in this incident.
Gao Jidong started a protest hunger strike on the first day of his arrest. The staff in the brainwashing class tortured him with brutal force-feeding. According to other practitioners who were held there at the same time, every time Gao Jidong suffered from force-feeding, his tragic screams could be heard on the second floor. Policeman Chen Wenzhuan stabbed a pen into his ears. They force-fed him twice a day, five days in a row. Gao Jidong started to vomit blood. The police were afraid that he may die from the torture and stopped the force-feeding.
At the end of 2002, Mr. Gao was reduced to a skeleton and was barely recognizable. To shift responsibility, the evildoing CCP members at the brainwashing class called in his father and used all kinds of excuses to cover up their crimes. They deceived and coerced Gao's father to sign an agreement that stated that Gao Jidong should be subjected to "continued force-feeding and intravenous injection of glucose or salt." Gao Jidong's father didn't want him to suffer more torture and reluctantly wrote, "agree to have intravenous injection."
The vicious police stretched Gao Jidong's limbs in four different directions, wrapped him with several layers of tape onto a metal bed and gave him intravenous infusions all day long. Whenever his life was in danger, the police would take him to a hospital for an exam and claimed that the result showed he was not in danger. Once, six people stood on his arms and legs at the same time. They also put a chair on his chest and a cruel man named Shen sat on the chair, fracturing his ribs.
On August 6, 2002, the police thought Gao Jidong was dying. They forced Gao Jidong's family to pay them money and then sent him to the hospital for the third time. The examination showed Gao Jidong suffered from electrolyte disorder, severe heart failure, stomach damage and lung damage.
Gao Jidong had suffered repeated torture and humiliation in the brainwashing class, but he was very firm in his belief in Falun Gong. After two weeks on a hunger strike, he got out of the brainwashing class.
During this second round of torture in the 2002 brainwashing class, Gao Jidong suffered tremendously, both physically and mentally. Thus, he opted to live in exile for four years to avoid being persecuted. The tremendous pressure and daily mental stress made him live in constant terror.
In June 2006, Gao Jidong was forced to register his residency at his rented place. Gao Jidong had to become homeless again to avoid arrest. His health deteriorated. He passed away on July 15, 2006.
Practitioner Ms. Song Jinlai is from Tianheng Town, Jimo City, Shandong Province. Because she refused to give up her practice of Falun Gong and followed the principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance," she has suffered persecution and is currently detained in Wangcun Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City. Her parents and relatives went to the labor camp many times but were not allowed to see her. She didn't even have a chance to see her parents before they passed away.
Ms. Song Jinlai was arrested in November 2000 when she was distributing truth-clarifying materials in Duancun, Jimo City. Later she was sent to the brainwashing center in Qingdao City. Since she refused to be brainwashed, Lin Yonglin from Jimo City's 610 Office and others sent her to Wangcun Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City without following any legal procedures. One week later, some people from Jimo City's 610 Office told Ms. Song's mother to sign on a piece of paper. She was over 80 years old and didn't know any words, but she refused their demand.
Ms. Song has been in the forced labor camp for one and a half years. Her family members have been to the labor camp several times but no one have ever been allowed to see her.
The guards in the labor camp are very rude. They rejected family members' requests to visit Ms. Song and threw away the clothes and food that they had brought for her. The guards dragged Ms. Song's family members out through the gates of the labor camp and then closed the gates behind them.
In April 2006, when her family members came to visit her again, the guards even refused to open the gate. When they heard the bell at the gate, they looked at the visitors through the small hole on the gate to see who had come to visit, and then they simply shut off the small hole. No matter how hard or how long the family members rang the bell, the guards refused to open the gate.
Song Jinlai's father was over 80 years old. When she had to leave home and move from place to place to avoid arrest, the local police and 610 Office kept harassing and threatening her parents. Ms. Song's father died during that time. Her mother was originally in good health, but when she learned that her daughter was in the forced labor camp, she got sick and never recovered. The couple was unable to see their daughter for the last time before they died. A good family was thus destroyed. The only survivor is Song Jinlai, who is still being persecuted.
Around 6:30 p.m. on July 23, 2003, my husband and I were arrested and sent to the detention center by Dalian City National Security Detachment. Afterwards they illegally entered two of my apartments and took a lot of of my property, like electric appliances, money, cell phones, copy machines, and computers.
In September 2004, I was illegally sentenced to 3 years in prison. I was sent to the 3rd Group of Liaoning Province Women's Prison on November 11.
In the prison I had to work during the day, but was not allowed to sleep at night. I was detained in the water supply room and forced to sit on a small 18 cm by 5 cm bench (about 7 inches by 2 inches). Six prisoners took turns watching me for two days.
On March 2, 2005, Guo Haiyan and two people from the Education Department talked to me and started the second round of persecution. Police guards Xu Zhonghua, Chen Jie, and Li Chunfang found two prisoners (one was swindler Liu Yi, the other murderer Shi Xiuli) and detained me in the monitoring room of the workshop to brutally torture me on March 28. On April 3, they wrote Master Li's name and words slandering Falun Gong and Master on my private parts with black markers. Shi Xiuli put towels in my mouth to silence me. She beat me and broke three of my teeth. On April 4 she again wrote on my body, on the bottom of my feet, on my socks, and on the bottom of my shoes, so I refused to wear shoes. They saw that I didn't yield. Around 3 p.m., they tied me up on a ladder and hung me there for five hours. When they took me down, my right arm had lost all feeling. I could not lift my arm, and my whole body was paralyzed. They sealed my mouth with tape, and dragged me to an empty room. The next day Liu Yi sat on my breast and beat me, and said that I was pretending. In the afternoon, Shi Xiuli found some white sheets, tore them into straps and hung me up. I could not bear the cruelty any longer. Liu Yi took advantage of me, and wrote "transformation" materials for me, and forced me to the Education Department to go through so-called "transformation". I exposed to them how Shi Xiuli tortured me. After that, guards Xu Zhonghua, Li Chunfang and Chen Jie commanded four prisoners to torture me again for four days and four nights and did not allow me to sleep.
Their persecution of Falun Gong practitioners has reached new levels of violence. Later a Falun Gong practitioner detained in the 3rd squd of the 3rd Group died from a beating. Her name was Li Ling.
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Qin Peng was a graduate student at the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University. He was first arrested for participating in an experience sharing conference in October 1999 and arrested a second time in June 2000 for practicing the Falun Gong exercises in public. Tsinghua University, one of the most prestigious in China, later forced him to drop out. In the early morning of January 1, 2001, Mr. Qin was arrested by officers from the Zhongguancun Police Branch and sentenced to two years in the Beijing Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp, Group 3.
On June 19, 2003, a few months after he had been released from the labor camp, Qin Peng was deceived into going back to Tsinghua University and arrested again. He was detained at the Beijing "Legal System School" where he was handcuffed to a bed and isolated for one month. His knees were injured by being kicked.
It is said that the police officers at the Beijing Police Station tried to persuade Qin Peng to be an undercover agent for them as the condition of his release. His refusal resulted in a two-and-a-half-year term at a forced labor camp. Later on, the Beijing Police Station "sold" Mr. Qin and 100 other prisoners for the price of 1,500 yuan each to Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp in Baoding City, Hebei Province.
At Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp, Qing Peng reported an abuse case of a female Falun Gong practitioner to the supervisors of the wardens. In revenge, the wardens bound him and beat him, and did not allow him to sleep for seventeen days. His chest was injured badly as a result, and he has yet to recover.
In October 2005, Qin Peng and others were transferred to Group 5, Handan Forced Labor Camp, Hebei Province from Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp. The group head assigned inmates to watch him. Criminal Yin Haijun made trouble for Mr. Qin many times and reported to the group head. Group head Li Xiuduan threatened to give Qin Peng a very hard time.
When assigning some heavy construction work in February 2006, the group head purposely assigned Qin Peng to be in a group of old or sick people with leg problems to pull heavy carts of bricks and soil.
In April 2006, the wardens ordered Qin Peng to make twenty pairs of leather gloves every day. One day, after finishing his own work, Qin Peng offered to help some of the other inmates. However, group heads Hao Changjiang and Zhang Kun lied that Qin Peng had not done his work well and destroyed some leather materials. Before Qin Peng was able to explain the situation, he was pushed out of the room and beaten by Hao Changjiang. All the inmates of Group 5 witnessed the whole process. Group head Li Haiming joined in beating Qin Peng, while Zhang Kun ordered inmate Zhang Pei to beat him, too. The four of them beat Qin Peng to the floor, dragged him up and beat him down again and again. The torture lasted from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The deputy director of the labor camp, Wei, came to Group 5 while the four people were beating Qin Peng. The group heads lied to Wei, saying that Qin Peng refused to work and refused to follow orders of the management, and called the group heads names.
After the beating, Hao Changjiang issued an order in front of all the inmates. He assigned two inmates to watch Qin Peng all day and night, even when he went to the bathroom. Qin Peng was not permitted to talk to anybody, nor was anybody allowed to talk to him; otherwise they would get their prison terms extended. Group heads Li Xiuduan, Zhang Kun, Li Haiming, Hao Changjian, and others were discussing how to extend Qin Peng's imprisonment. They ordered every inmate write a defamatory letter with false evidence about Qin Peng under the group heads' instruction.
Qin Peng was supposed to be released in May 2006. Fully aware of the fact that he was framed, the wardens at the Handan Forced Labor Camp worked together to extend his imprisonment.
On June 2, 2006, the labor camp held a big meeting to announce the extension of Qin Peng's term by six months and four days, the "reason" given that he remained steadfast in practicing Falun Gong, was against the Chinese Communist Party and socialism, did not follow the camp management, refused to work, refused to wear the camp uniform, etc. The labor camp also assigned June to be a "Strict Management" month and presented Qin Peng as a "bad" model to show the inmates. To appeal the mistreatment, Qin Peng wrote a letter to the Procuratorate branch at the labor camp but received no response.
Having been persecuted physically and mentally by wardens and others for the past three years, Qin Peng is still being detained at Handan City Forced Labor Camp.
Ms. Yang Hualian, 53-years-old is an engineer from the Bureau of Agriculture in Guanghan city, Sichuan Province, China. Ever since July 20, 1999, she has remained committed to her belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." For refusing to renounce Falun Gong, she has been arrested, tortured and forced to undergo brainwashing many times. She has twice been imprisoned in a labor camp for a year. She has recently been sentenced to three years of imprisonment.
In 2001, Yang Hualian was taken to the Zizhong County Nanmu Women's Detention Center. Policewoman Zhang Xiaofang incited convicts to beat her. She was covered with cuts and bruises and her lumbar vertebrae were broken. She lay in bed and couldn't get up. Her term at the labor camp was extended before her release. On July 7, 2004 she was arrested again and taken to the Chongshang Science and Education School brainwashing class in Deyang city. In the beginning, the staff tried to coerce her into giving up her belief by helping her wash her hair, feet, her clothes and peeling the skin of fruit for her. After seeing that it had no effect, they showed their fierce side. Using psychological and physical torture, they punched and kicked her, ripped out her hair, pulled her ears, and banged her head against the wall. They did not let her sleep, used toxic gas to suffocate her, and threatened her, saying, "If you refuse to obey, we'll send you to jail." This brutality lasted 48 days.
Yang Hualian went to her workplace on the morning of July 8, 2005. She was arrested again by policeman Li Dan and others from the north city police station and taken to a brainwashing class. After being tortured, she couldn't stand up straight. She couldn't walk, and her blood pressure rose to 230. She was then taken to hospital for emergency rescue. On September 22, 2005, they deceived her by saying, "Quick, pack your things! You've finally finished, and your workplace has come to take you home." However, they sent her straight to jail. After being taken to the jail, she was secretly sent to court.
Yang Hualian told Procurator Liu Shengwei, "The so-called evidence
is
all fabricated by the police, the National Security agents, Yang
Bin and
others."
She asked the procuratorate carefully examine the evidence. However, Liu replied, "We don't have the right to, nor is it our responsibility to do so."
The court session on April 5 and 12 of 2006 was twice delayed to the 29th. The procurator, Liu Shengwei, used the time spent in the labor camp as the main source of evidence for the crime, and also used it to determine the sentence. He [Liu Shengwei] also used the fabricated evidence made up by national guard policeman Yang Bin and Zhou Zhihong, and illegally sentenced Yang Hualian to three years. Yang Hualian appealed to the Deyang city intermediate court afterwards. On June 28, 2006, the ruling was maintained at the original three years.
Yang Hualian is still illegally imprisoned in the Guanghan city jail. According to insiders, prison police put unknown drugs in Yang Hualian's food.
Note: The following is a shortened version of a longer and more detailed article that appeared on the Minghui.org website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net).
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Hongjun and his wife Ms. Fu Shuyuan (also a practitioner, around 50), lives in Shouguang City, Shandong Province. On July 20, 1999, Ms. Fu Shuyuan was arrested and held for 28 hours, while during the same month in 1999, Mr. Liu Hongjun was arrested and held for seven days. Ms. Fu Shuyuan was forced to watch television programs that slandered Falun Gong. From October to November in 1999, 100 yuan was taken from Mr. Liu and he was detained. Ms. Fu was arrested and 17,500 yuan was taken from her.
In late June 2000, Mr. Liu Hongjun, his father Mr. Liu Yingjie, and Ms. Fu Shuyuan went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. They were arrested and taken back to the Shouguang Town Committee Office. Mr. Liu Yingjie was detained for five days and sent to the Shouguang City Detention Center after he was extorted of 2500 yuan. He was then detained for a month. Ms. Fu was placed in a criminal detention center for 28 days and not released until she was extorted of 4000 yuan.
Later, Mr. Liu Hongjun and his wife were taken to the Shouguang Town Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Committee Office. The officers beat them with electric batons, rubber batons and bamboo sticks. One of these officers, Cui Guangxian (head of the Judicatory Bureau) trampled on Mr. Liu Hongjun's foot. Mr. Liu had to leave through the window one night and stayed away from home for two years to avoid being arrested. The deputy head of the CCP, Liu Xizhong (male) got very angry. He and other officers including Zhang Guozhong (male), Hao Yong (male), Pang Xiaohui (male) and Cui Guangxian (male) beat Ms. Fu viciously. The beating lasted two days and resulted in injury with swelling. Ms. Fu was not allowed to sleep. After she was detained for over 50 days, she was forced to pay 7000 yuan and only then could she return home.
On February 3, 2000, Ms. Fu Shuyuan was again arrested and sent to the Shouguang Town CCP Committee Office where she was badly beaten. In the winter of 2001, she had to leave home. In February 2002, she was again arrested and sentenced to over two years of forced labor. Mr. Liu Hongjun was later arrested and sentenced to fourteen years in prison. He is now detained at Ji'nan City First Prison in Shandong Province. During the period from 1999 to 2001, Mr. Liu Hongjun's family was extorted of 31,100 yuan in total.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Wanyun from Gongzhuling City, Jilin Province, was born on September 8, 1962. He was a guard at Xingye Prison in Changchun City, Jilin Province. He began to practice Falun Gong in October 1997 in Changchun City. Because of his dedication to his job and honest personality, he was honored as an excellent guard several times.
After the persecution against Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, Mr. Li Wanyun went to Beijing to appeal and clarify the truth. He was arrested by police in Beijing in October and was detained for 15 days after being brought back by police from the Erdao District Police Department in Changchun. During this illegal detention, and because of his firm belief in Falun Gong, he was discharged from his employment by the CCP officer at his workplace.
In the spring of 2000, when Mr. Li Wanyun went out to clarify truth, he was sent to forced labor for a year in Heizuizi Labor Camp in Changchun. He was then transferred to the notorious Fenjin Labor Camp and was continually tortured. In the labor camp, Mr. Li Wanyun was tortured and his whole body was covered with scabies and running sores. He was unable to put on any clothing. He was released in November 2000.
In 2002, because he still firmly believed in Falun Gong, he was sent to forced labor for 3 years. He was severely tortured by the guards in Chaoyanggou Labor Camp in Changchun City. This torture weakened his body and caused osteomyelitis. He was on the verge of death and was released for medical treatment.
After he returned home, Mr. Wanyun's body was very weak, and he was completely unable to work or function in normal life activities.
Before his second forced labor term, police from the local station in Lingxi District in Gongzhuling City illegally searched his home. They confiscated one bank deposit book, more than 10,000 yuan in savings, more than 4,000 yuan in cash, and several valuable articles, including a small radio. His family members have gone to the police department several times to seek for the return of the extorted money and articles, but the officers from the police department have only admitted that they took about 12,000 yuan. They returned only 6,000 yuan in cash to his family, while another several thousand yuan have not been returned.
On August 3, 2006, Mr. Li Wanyun, who was seriously ill because of
the severe
torture he suffered from the guards, had no money to treat his
illnesses and
passed away.
