 Ms. Li Deyin, 55, was a retiree from the Hunan Machine Tool Factory. She lived in an apartment of the Provincial General Labor Union in the Kaifu District, Changsha City. Ms. Li had started practicing Falun Gong in 1995 and had benefited physically and mentally. Since 1999 when the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong, Li Deyin had been to Beijing twice to appeal for Falun Gong. She was put under criminal detention several times.

On August 27, 2002, agents from the Minzhujie Police Station arrested her. Kaifu District court officials sentenced her to four years in prison. She was detained in the Changsha Women's Prison. Li Deyin had suffered much there for her persistence in Falun Gong practice. Because she refused to recite the prison rules, she was punished to stand straight for a long time every day. At the end of 2003, because of passing Teacher's article to others, she was punished to stand from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for four consecutive days. She was forbidden to sit down, even when she was eating. The "personal cangue" Zhang Genlin tortured her every day.

Li Deyin's husband came to the prison to visit her the morning of May 16, 2006. When he left Li Deyin at 10:00 a.m., Li looked good and told her husband that her prison term would end soon, and she would go home then. At 1:00 p.m. Li's family was informed she was in critical condition in the Changsha Center Hospital. When they arrived at the hospital to see her, she was unable to speak and was semi-conscious. She died the afternoon of May 25, 2006.

This is what the prison guard told Li's family: at 11:00 a.m. on May 16, Li Deyin was called to see the officials from 610 Office. She suddenly fell to the ground. After failing to rescue her she was sent to the hospital.

After Li Deyin died, many police in yellow or blue clothes were seen in the area where Li Deyin's home was. They hung around the gate and the court and prevented strangers from entering or leaving.

Li Deyin would have completed her imprisonment in three months. Why did agents from the "610 Office" come to talk to Li Deyin? What did they do to her? Why did she look well at 10:00 a.m. when her husband saw but she was unable to speak and think logically at 1:00 p.m. in the hospital? Why there were so many police around her home after she died?

The cause of her death and the role of the Hunan Women's Prison and that of the "610 Office" needs further investigation.

Dear CIPFG,

I am 47 and was an employee of the Zhaoyuan Automatic Instrument Factory in Zhaoyuan city, Shandong province. The following are some of the facts of the persecution that my family and I have suffered. I'd like to provide them as evidence for the investigation.

On July 20, 1999, my husband, my daughter, and I went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. We were arrested and escorted back by the police from Zhaoyuan city. Since then we have never been able to have a peaceful life. My work unit and my husband's work unit, the Organizational Department of Zhaoyuan city and the Women's Union, took turns harassing us and trying to force us to denounce Falun Gong. Our home and telephone were monitored. On the politically sensitive days, we would be harassed. This lasted for several years. The security staff of the Electricity Bureau of Zhaoyuan City even camped out in front of my home to monitor us day and night.

On January 19, 2001, all of us went to Beijing to appeal again. We were arrested and beaten up by police, and detained in Tiananmen Square Police Station. Then we were escorted back to Luofeng Police Station in Zhaoyuan by personnel from the Zhaoyuan Liaison Office in Beijing. After being illegally held for 23 days, I was imprisoned illegally for another 15 days, during which time I was expelled from the CCP by the Organizational Department of Zhaoyuan city and dismissed from my work unit, the Zhaoyuan Automatic Instrument Factory. After being illegally detained for 20 days, my husband Sun Guo continued to be imprisoned for two months, and he was fined 10,000 yuan by the 610 office in Zhaoyuan. He was also expelled from the party by the Organizational Department of Zhaoyuan city. My daughter was only released after being detained for 24 hours due to efforts from our relatives. She was later dismissed from her position as the monitor of the class at her school. During my husband's detainment, the 610 office members slapped him in the face, and kicked and shocked him continuously for two hours. He suffered terribly from this ordeal. He couldn't eat and constantly felt like vomiting for several days. After being released from the detention center, he was sent to the brainwashing center again by his work unit, the Electricity Bureau and the 610 office, before his injuries were even healed. He was so thin that the bones were protruding from the skin. He was not allowed to sleep for a long period of time. He was forced to watch videos slandering Teacher and Falun Gong. He was also forced to help the police to "reform" others. He was illegally detained for as long as three months. After being released from the brainwashing center, my husband was dismissed from his position as the section chief. Every month he could get only 320 yuan in pay. He was then sent to the thermo-electricity plant to do hard labor.

On April 25, 2001, while I was visiting a fellow Falun Gong practitioner, members of the 610 office of Zhaoyuan city and the tire factory broke open the door with sledge hammers. The fellow practitioner and I were dragged into a car by four or five people. We were sent to the brainwashing center and illegally held for more than a month. My home was twice illegally searched by the local 610 office in July and October of 2001. I was arrested and taken to Luofeng Police Station in Zhaoyuan again after my home was raided in July 2001. The 610 police tortured me trying to get a confession from me. They grabbed hold of my hair and dragged me on the floor. They handcuffed me to the chair and tortured me for the whole night. My body was covered with mosquitoes bites. Later, I was dragged to Mengzhi police station and handcuffed to a metal chair. Still, I didn't give them any information they wanted. After torturing me for three days and three nights, they had to release me.

On April 3, 2002, while my husband was working, the 610 office and Song Shuqin from the brainwashing center went to arrest him. He escaped and has to live a homeless life ever since. After his escape, the Electricity Bureau fired him. What's more, more than 10 people from the 610 office and the security department of the Electricity Bureau surrounded my home, searched for me everywhere and were trying to force me to surrender my husband. They also threatened to arrest me if I didn't. I was forced to leave my home and live a life of exile as well. My young daughter was left alone at home. The 610 office and the Electricity Bureau followed, intimidated and harassed my daughter for as many as more than 40 days, which caused great harm to my daughter's mental and physical health. In late July of 2002, during her school holiday, the 610 Office planned to send her to the brainwashing center. They ordered her school to send her to the center and pay the center 1,800 yuan. The teachers had to drive to my mother and my mother-in-law's homes to get my daughter. My daughter was forced to leave home to avoid being caught. She had to hide for the whole summer holiday.

On September 5, 2002, my husband and two other Falun Gong practitioners were illegally arrested while clarifying the truth to the public. The police from Zhaoyuan viciously beat them up in broad daylight. They were kicked and knocked down into a muddy ditch beside the road, but the police dragged them up and continued beating them until they were bent over and could no longer get up. My husband was beaten so badly that he vomited blood on the spot. My husband was then sent to the Biguozheng Police Station, where he was again badly beaten. After that, on the same day, he was sent to the Zhaoyuan Detention Center, where he was again tortured badly to obtain a confession. My husband was illegally detained for as long as six months and no family visits were allowed. In February 2003, he was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment. He did not accept this and submitted an appeal. However, without notifying his family, he was sent to Shandong Prison secretly on March 25, 2003.

In Shandong Prison, my husband has been tortured very badly. I learned from an insider from Shandong Prison that my husband had suffered all sorts of abuse there. Because he refused to denounce his belief, he was put under "strict management." Everyday he had to sit on a little stool motionlessly from 5 am to midnight. The guards put on a false "kind" face. On the surface, they did not participate in the persecution. But actually they were encouraging the criminals to torture him severely. My husband was often put into solitary confinement and kept under "strict management."

During my exile, on August 11, 2005, my daughter's school and the 610 office of Zhaoyuan seized my daughter and held her as a hostage for more than 10 days, hoping to use her to capture me. This caused unbearable anguish for my daughter, myself and the rest of my family.

The persecution of Falun Gong has lasted for seven years. During the seven-year period, I have been driven into exile for four years while my husband has been illegally imprisoned for four years. My underage daughter has been living a very hard life on her own for all these years. In order to try to arrest me, the 610 office of Zhaoyuan often harasses my mother and my mother-in-law. At about 9:30 p.m. on June 2, 2003, a group of people who claimed to be policemen raided my mother's home one more time. My mother, who is over 70 years old, was living by herself. The policemen asked my mother to surrender me and threatened to arrest her if she refused. She was so worked up and frightened that she suffered a mental collapse. Since then, she would laugh or cry out loudly in a frightening manner. She often ran out in the middle of the night and attacked neighbors' trees and vegetables. Later my mother was sent to the mental hospital for forced treatment. She was often tied up for injection and was fed medication. Her life is no longer that of a normal human being. For all those years, my mother-in-law, who was already in her eighties, has been missing her son, and worrying about her daughter-in-law and her granddaughter everyday. Whenever our family was mentioned, she would shed tears. The pain was too much, and she passed away on October 2005. My 84-year-old father-in-law was left alone in the world. Everyday he feels frightened and worried. He is often confined to bed or in the hospital.

I sincerely hope that the CIPFG and other good people can come to China to investigate and bring an end to this national disaster.

During the three years I was illegally detained in Zhongba Women's Forced Labor Camp in Guizhou Province I witnessed irresponsible greed: in order to make profits, the labor camp would not even pass up used cerecloth, a fabric coated with wax and used for shrouds, to make commercial safety gloves.

In 2001 I was sentenced to three year's forced labor for spreading Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials and was detained in the Zhongba Women's Forced Labor Camp in Guizhou Province. The 2nd Group had a workshop that specialized in making safety gloves. Except for the outside of the glove that was made from ivory-white canvas commonly used in the manufacture of safety products, all the inside layers were made from contaminated, discarded cloth recycled from funeral homes, hospitals, and refuse dumps. This recycled material was re-used, untreated, in the manufacture of these gloves.

The contaminated used fabric was terribly filthy and full of blood stains, dirt, and mildew. The smell was awful. It was common to assign the new arrivals in Group 2 to collect and sort the used cloth. The peculiar smell of decay, mildew, and rot made the sorter sick enough to vomit. Many of the prisoners assigned to sort this stuff could not eat, and after a while they lost weight. The labor camp did not treat them as human beings at all and did not even provide them with gauze masks or rubber gloves. The dirt and stains harboring unknown germs and viruses filled their mouths and noses and covered their bodies. They said that they often saw death notices in these soiled rags as well as on the quilts that the families of the deceased had specially made.

I could hardly believe at first that the safety gloves were made from such material! However, after passing by the piles of contaminated rags again and again and seeing people gathering and sorting the gloves that had been made again and again, I had to accept this fact as much as it shocked me. After three years I have become accustomed to the truth that every corner of the Party's labor camp harbors evil.

A prisoner surnamed Pan once had a patch of broken skin on one of her big toes. After finishing a whole day's duty in the workshop, the next day her entire foot was infected and swollen. She told me that when she checked the quality of the finished products, the gloves were all around her, even covering her feet. Since she wore sandals in summer, her foot became quickly swollen. She eventually had to go to the clinic for daily injections, and the worsening infection was not controlled until one week later. She was forbidden to rest even when she could not walk and others had to carry her to the workshop.

It was quite common in this labor camp for any broken skin on the hands or feet to fester. In just one "new entrants" team there were several dozen prisoners whose hands and feet were festering. These incidents lasted for several years. Many prisoners did not have money to see a doctor and were in such pain that they cried and were unable to get into bed. When they applied to see the doctor, the prison guards asked them if they had a medical card. Hearing that they had no money, the guards would refuse them.

Some prisoners' infections were quite serious and lasted a long time. By the time their families learned about this and sent money, the infections were often out of control. Some people's infections left gaping holes and were severe enough to expose the bone. For one such person the antibiotics no longer worked and the 3,000 yuan the family sent was used up and the sufferer was told her leg would have to be amputated.

Bedbugs were everywhere. Many people were bitten and had welts all over the body. As long the skin was scratched or broken, it would surely become infected and then the hands and feet would fester.

 At about 4:00 a.m. on May 21, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Qiu Liying from Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province was arrested again by police from the Sifang Police Station. Sifang police had been stationed outside her home monitoring her before the illegal arrest took place. After a short detention in the police station, Ms. Qiu was sent to the Hebei Capital Law Education & Training Center for forced brainwashing. This is Ms. Qiu's second time being detained at the brainwashing center. In January 2003, after being persecuted for 39 months in a forced labor camp, she was held in this brainwashing center for more than one year for refusing to give up her belief.

Ms. Qiu Liying, about 42, is a former employee of the Shijiazhuang Oil Refinery. After she started practicing Falun Gong, she followed the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" and was regarded by everyone as a very good person. However, after Jiang's faction started to persecute Falun Gong, she was illegally arrested and taken to police stations, forced labor camps, and a mental hospital to be persecuted and brainwashed. It is estimated that she has been detained and tortured for more than four years.

Following are the places where she has been illegally detained: Tiananmen Square Police Station, Beijing Taoranting Park Police Station, Beijing Police Dispatch Station, Shijiazhuang Yaojin Road Police Station, Shijiazhuang Oil Refining Plant Police Station (name since changed to Sifang Police Station), Shijiazhuang City's Changan District Police Department, Shijiazhuang City's Hedong Police Station, Shijiazhuang City Detention Center, Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp, Tangshan Forced Labor Camp, Tangshan Ankang Hospital (Drug Rehabilitation Center), Tangshan City's Fifth Psychiatric Hospital (previously known as the Tangshan Psychotic Hospital), Baoding Forced Labor Camp, Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp, and Hebei Capital Law Education & Training Center (also known as the notorious Shijiazhuang Brainwashing Center).

The doctors and nurses even tortured Ms. Qiu with high-voltage electric needles and injected her with drugs destructive to the nervous system.

It is said that the Shijiazhuang Oil Refining Plant paid the fee for her brainwashing for one year in the forced labor camp. At that time, her name had already been deleted from the employee list. After being released from the forced labor camp, she had to take a part time job to support herself. Before her arrest on May 21, she worked for a private enterprise near the Oil Refining Plant. Ms. Qiu is planning to deal with the plant solemnly to get her job back in the oil refining plant. Because she was under pressure against her will to write the so named resignation letter before, therefore the plant should take the major responsibility for her destitute state.

On May 12, 2006, Jin City Court in Hunan Province put Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Hu Xinyuan and her daughter-in-law Gong Liya on trial.

Ms. Gong Liya read her defense statement. She first revealed that the Tiananmen self-immolation is the lie of the century. She exposed how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) detained six thousand Falun Gong practitioners in Sujiatun District, Shenyang Province, harvested their organs while they were alive, and cremated their bodies to destroy the evidence. She told them solemnly that good being rewarded by good and evil meeting with retribution is a heavenly law. She used the example of Dengfeng City (in Henan Province) Police Department head Ren Changxia (female) who died in traffic accident after arresting Falun Gong practitioners multiple times.

People in the court were all shaken by the Falun Gong practitioners' grand mercy, but the court had to rest before 9:00 a.m., because the illegal trial could not be continued. After the session, an employee who was involved in the trial session said to his colleagues, "The trial became a meeting of Falun Gong practitioners clarifying the truth."

Ms. Hu Xinyuan went through numerous tortures by the Jin City 610 Office Neighborhood Administration Officials (see /emh/articles/2006/1/16/69037.html). Ms. Hu Xinyuan and her daughter-in-law Gong Yali were arrested on December 20, 2005 by Jin City 610 Office agents Zhou Dingren (male), Lei Minzhu (Male), and Luo Peijie (male), and others. Ms Gong Yali has a very young daughter at home.

At 8:30 a.m. On May 12, 2006, Ms. Hu Xinyuan and Gong Yali arrived at the Court. They were very calm while wearing hand cuffs walking in the Hall. They both clarified the truth.

 In late September 2005, Tang Jianguo and his son, Tang Xiongchao, were arrested at their home in Hanyang District, Wuhan City. (An earlier report of this incident is available at /emh/articles/2005/12/23/68223.html) Xiongchao's whereabouts remain unknown. A stranger informed Tang Li, Tang Jianguo's daughter, that her brother is dead. On May 18, 2006, Li visited her father in the Taojialing Brainwashing Center in Hanyang District, but she never returned home. The brainwashing center authorities refused to comment on the whereabouts of Tang Jianguo and Tang Li. The Tangs' whereabouts and fates are unknown. We hereby appeal to all kind-hearted people to support and pay close attention to this case.

Tang Jianguo, known to many as Grandpa Tang, is in his 60s and lives beside Lianhua Lake in Hanyang District, Wuhan City. Tang was a high-level government official. The Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party helped Tang to see through the deceptions of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). On November 24, 2005, National Security Bureau agents arrested Tang for telling his former colleagues about the Nine Commentaries. Not long after, Tang's son, Xiongchao, was also arrested. Xiongchao is a student at Wuhan University. Police refused tell Tang's relatives where Xiongchao is detained. After reports of the organ-harvesting at Sujiatun Death Camp emerged, Xiongchao's sister, Tang Li, received a phone call from a stranger, who told her that Xiongchao was dead, and warned her to be careful. Li was saddened and frightened. She feared that her mother could not withstand this blow, so she was reluctant in exposing her brother's death.

When Clearwisdom.net published Tang Jianguo's illegal arrest, the police granted Li permission to visit her father. The visit was under surveillance. Police had to blindfold Li to take her to the secret detention center, where Jianguo was held. Many other Falun Gong practitioners were also detained in this secret camp. Li was certain that this camp is not the Taojialing Detention Center in Hanyang District.

In the morning of May 18, 2006, Li left her home for Taojialing Detention Center in Hanyang District to visit her father, but she never returned home. Li's mother went to look for her in Taojialing Center. The authorities at the center flagrantly denied seeing Li or detaining Jianguo. Now three members of the Tang family are missing, and they are likely in danger.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Su Baolan of Anqiu City, Shandong Province

Ms. Su Baolan was a 37-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Anqiu City, Shandong Province. In mid-October 2001, lawless officials from Shidui Town Police Department, Anqiu City 610 Office agents and Anqiu City Police Department personnel broke into her home and illegally arrested her. They took her to the Anqiu City brainwashing class, held by the 610 Office. Anqiu City 610 Office persecutors extorted 1,000 yuan from Ms. Su's family. Twelve days later, her body was found in a small river in Sanhe Village, 12 li [about 4 miles] from Anqiu City in Jinzhongzi Township. The villagers buried it as an unidentified body. Her family did not learn about it until much later.

More than four years have passed, and the cause of Su Baolan's death is still a mystery

Ms. Su Baolan was born in 1964 and lived in Shirenpo Village, Shidui Town, Anqiu City, Shandong Province with her husband's family. Her parents lived in Xingshan Village, Wangjiazhuangzi Town, Anqiu City, Shandong Province. Her mother Zhou Shufen, 64 years old, suffered from bone spurs in both feet. She felt as if she was walking on pins and needles with each step. She also had high blood pressure and cataracts. Her father Zhu Xiaoyou, 65 years old, had spinal disc protrusion, which caused so much pain that he could not sleep at night. They took lots of medications but the pain was not relieved.

In 1996, their son Su Qingtai borrowed an uncle's copy of Zhuan Falun after he saw that his parents were in great pain. All of their symptoms disappeared after the old couple started practicing Falun Gong, and they miraculously recovered. Their three daughters saw their parents' great changes and also started to practice Falun Gong. The family lived a happy life.

After the persecution began in July 1999, police and 610 Office agents from Anqiu City frequently threatened and arrested Su Baolan at her home and extorted money from her. Su Baolan's husband was brainwashed and persecuted. He changed from supporting his wife's practice to resenting it and viciously beat his wife.

Su Baolan could no longer stay at home. She left in February 2001 and lived in exile for six months. In mid-October 2001, Su Baolan went home to visit her parents-in-law, her husband and her child. Officials from the Shidui Town Police Department, from the Anqiu City 610 Office and from the Anqiu City Police Department arrested her. They broke into her home and took her to the Anqiu City 610 Office Brainwashing Center. The Anqiu City 610 Office extorted 1,000 yuan from her family.

A dozen days later, Su Baolan's body was found in a small river in Sanhe Village, which is 12 li [about 4 miles] from Anqiu City, in Jinzhongzi Township. The body was on the bottom of the riverbed, in shallow water. Someone dragged the body ashore and the local people immediately called the police. The police arrived and took photos and they left after examining the body. The body was left on the riverbank for three days. The villagers could no longer stand it, and they buried it as an unidentified body. It wasn't until later that her family got wind of the news. They went to Sanhe Village and dug up the body. Although her face, corner of the mouth and part of her nose were distorted, and there was a wound with stitches and thread on her head, the family still recognized Su Baolan from her clothing and facial features.

According to witnesses, one police officer whispered to another police officer while they took pictures and examined the body that the dead person was a Falun Gong practitioner.

At the time of Su Baolan's family finding the body, her father and younger sister Su Baoyun were being held at a labor camp against the law. Her mother and sister Su Baoli were living in exile to avoid persecution. Her brother was attending university in Jinan City. None of her blood relatives knew about her death; only her in-laws faced this sudden blow. The Anqiu City 610 Office then tried to get this incident out of the way by offering Su Baolan's husband 20,000 yuan. He didn't want to take the money and wanted to seek justice, but the wicked Party would not let him. Even now, the cause of Ms. Su's death is still a mystery.

Su Baolan's death is a taboo subject for the local police, the 610 Office and Su Baolan's husband. They are also afraid of other people bringing it up. Su Baolan's sister was later arrested and held at a detention center. An official from Anqiu City, Li Shenghua, wanted to know whether she had probed into her sister's death.

After the persecution began in July 1999, Su Baolan's father Su Xiaoyou, who was in his 60s, was detained many times. Because he persisted in practicing Falun Gong, he was sentenced to three years of forced labor on November 17, 2000 and was held at the Changle Forced Labor Camp. The guards and inmates there tortured him, and he almost died.

On December 1, 2000 the labor camp officials sent all Falun Gong practitioners to Group 2, which included two groups. Su Xiaoyou was sent to Class 2, Group 2 of Group 2. Eight inmates jumped on him and stripped him naked. They held him to the ground with his face touching the concrete floor. Some inmates held his head, some held his arms and legs, and the rest took turns lashing him with a home-made whip. This whip is a triangular belt tied to a wood stick with metal wire, and a leather belt with a metal buckle on top. The inmates whipped him, from the knees up to the neck. A hole would appear wherever these belts touched the flesh, as the metal buckle would penetrate the flesh. The inmates demanded to know after every few lashes, "Are you still going to practice [Falun Gong]?" If he answered yes, they would whip him even more sadistically. When the flesh in one location was completely reduced to a pulp, the inmates would switch to another place on the body and start whipping again. They repeatedly whipped him systematically from the knees up including the thighs, the buttocks, the lower back, the shoulders and the neck. They broke one leather belt, and the triangular belt was covered in flesh and blood. Not a single piece of intact flesh could be found on Su Xiaoyou's entire back.

After three years of being out of the forced labor camp, Su Xiaoyou still has scars from the whipping clearly visible on his back.

In the past seven years, Su Xiaoyou's whole family was groundlessly detained, fined, sent to a labor camp and had their home ransacked. The oldest daughter Su Baolan died. The father, the second daughter Su Baoyun, and the youngest daughter Su Baoli suffered from brutal persecution. Su Xiaoyou's wife Zhou Shufen opted to leave home to avoid persecution. The whole family has endured more than words can describe.

On July 20 and July 22, 1999, when the persecution first began, Su Zhaosheng, the former Party secretary of Xingshan Village, and Han Fuben, the former head of the Wangjiazhuangzi Town Police Department, arrested Zhou Shufen and Su Xiaoyou. They transported them to the Wangjiazhuangzi Town Police Department where the elderly couple was held for eight days. On August 29, 1999, Han Fuben arrested Su Baoli and detained her at the Wangjiazhuangzi Town Police Department for ten days. Su Baoli was breast-feeding her infant at the time.

On October 11, 1999, Su Xiaoyou and Su Baoli were again arrested. On the third day after their return home, six family members decided to travel to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. The group included the old couple, their three daughters and the five-year-old grandson. They were arrested at different times in Beijing, sent back to Anqiu City and held for 50 days. Officers from the Anqiu City Police Department extorted 2,400 yuan from Su Qingtai, Su Xiaoyou's son, who was then a university student in Jinan City.

When the couple went home, they found seals on their door and a changed lock. According to witnesses, the day after Su Xiaoyou's family went to Beijing, Su Zhaosheng, the former Party secretary of Xingshan Village arrived with about seven people. They pried open the lock and took a black-and-white TV, a muller, a small pushcart, a motorcycle, several hundred yuan cash, and a Certificate of Deposit due to be cashed in, worth 2,100 yuan.

In late 1999, Su Zhaosheng cut off the electricity to Su Xiaoyou's home. When Su Qingtai went home for the Chinese New Year he saw that the electricity had been cut off. He went to Su Zhaosheng and asked to have it reconnected. Su Zhaosheng then extorted another 1,000 yuan from Su Qingtai before restoring the electricity. In June 2000, Su Xiaoyou again went to Beijing to appeal. Su Zhaosheng again disconnected the electricity, and it has remained disconnected up until this time.

In March 2000, Han Fuben and Li Jingbo arrested the elderly couple and held them at the Wangjiazhuangzi Town Police Department for 25 days. Repeated detention and home ransacking could not make Su Xiaoyou's family give up their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

In June 2000, Su Xiaoyou and Su Baoli went again to Beijing to appeal. Police arrested them at their arrival in Tianjin City and sent them back to the Anqiu City Detention Center. The police checked all buses at all major intersections, to prevent Falun Gong practitioners from entering Beijing. All passengers were ordered to curse Falun Gong and its founder. Those who refused to do so would be immediately arrested and held until the local officials came to claim them. At Anqiu City Detention Center, father and daughter held a hunger strike for five days in protest, and were then released. After they returned to Wangjiazhuangzi Town, Han Fuben held them for another 28 days.

In August 2000, Su Zhaosheng from Xingshan Village, Wangjiazhuangzi Town, Li Jingbo and Zhang from the town's police department told Zhou Shufen and Su Xiaoyou to report to the police department. The couple refused. Several minutes later, Zhou Wen and several roughnecks from Wangjiazhuangzi Town went to the old couple's home and burned three copies of Zhuan Falun in front of everyone. They handcuffed the old couple with their arms behind their backs and carried them into a police car, then detained the couple at Wangjiazhuangzi Town Police Department. Later, they arrested their daughter Su Baoli, took her to the same police department and held all three for 30 days. Then the police sent Su Xiaoyou to the Anqiu City 610 Office brainwashing class for one month. Because he refused brainwashing, he was sentenced to three years of forced labor and was held at the Changle Forced Labor Camp.

In the morning of March 15, 2005, Anqui police agents arrested Su Xiaoyou from home and held him at a detention center for one month. Upon his release, the Anqiu police extorted 3,400 yuan from his family.

Zhou Shufen and Su Baoli held a hunger strike at the town police department. They were held for 61 days and were released when they were on the brink of death. Su Baoli left home because the officials frequently harassed her. On October 28, 2002, about seven Anqiu police agents including Li Shenghua and Jia Zaijun arrested her again and held her at the Anqiu City Detention Center for over 60 days.

The police extorted more than 30,000 yuan from Su Baoli's family. Su Baoli's husband doesn't practice Falun Gong. He borrowed money from all kinds relatives and friends but still came up short. He sold some wheat, the only valuable the family had left, to get together more than 30,000 yuan, all of which the police took! In the spring of 2003, Su Baoli was arrested and detained twice.

In the morning of March 15, 2005, Anqiu police arrested Su Baoli from home, held her at a detention center and tortured her for one month. The Anqiu police extorted 10,000 yuan from her family. Then they sent her to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Shandong Province.

The happy family headed by Su Xiaoyou and Zhou Shufen is now completely destitute and broken after several years of ransacking, arrests, fines, forced labor and other forms of persecution.

Weifang City, Shandong Province is one of the areas in China where the persecution against Falun Gong is most severe. It has so far been verified that at least 119 Falun Gong practitioners in Weifang City have died from persecution, which is the highest among all cities in China. The torture death of Ms. Chen Zixiu, a 59-year-old Falun Gong practitioner, which was published in the Wall Street Journal on April 20, 2000, took place in Weifang City.

 In the past seven years, Falun Gong practitioners in Tianshui, Gansu Province, have suffered inhuman persecution. Some families were shattered to pieces, some practitioners were beaten, some were injured, became crippled or have died. Several hundred practitioners were harassed and "illegally imprisoned." Lawless personnel even secretly sentenced disabled practitioner Liu Xiaoming to prison terms.

Practitioners illegally imprisoned in Tianshui Prison:

1. Mr. Wang Weiping, from Gangu County, Gansu Province. Resided at 4 Xiaoxiang, Xiejia Village, Beiguan Township, Gangu County, Gansu Province
2. Mr. Yang Jingchun, worker from the Tianshui Yarn Factory in Gansu Province. Resided at the factory residence Building 7 Unit 2 Floor 2
3. Mr. Zhao Houyu, resided at 30 Wangjiabanpo, Qinzhou District, Tianshui City
4. Mr. Shang Junbin, resided at 6 East Mapaoquan Road, Maiji District (Former Beidao District) (released in January 2006)
5. Mr. Wang Yongming, 40 years old, engineer with the Postal and Telegraphic Bureau of Maiji District, Tianshui City. Resided at the Electric Pole Factory Residence (4-2-1), Maiji District, Tianshui City
6. Mr. Li Chunsheng, 54 years old, worker at the Bamboo and Wood Factory in the Maiji District, Tianshui City. Resided in the Bamboo and Wood Factory Residence, the Maiji District, Tianshui City
7. Mr. Gao Zhaoming from Zhangjiazui Village, Huaniu Town, Maiji District, Tianshui City
8. Mr. Xu Feng from Xifeng District, Qingyang City
9. Mr. Guan Qiang, 38 years old, a staff at Pressure Team, Mine Working Division, Changqing Mine Bureau.
   
10. Mr. Tian Runhai, from Taoyuan Village, Linjing Township, Zhenyuan County, Gansu Province
11. Mr. Cuan Tianxiang, from Dongzhi Village, Dongzhi Township, Xifeng District, Qingyang City

It has been confirmed that the 11 above-named practitioners are in the Tianshui's 3rd Prison. The situations of dozens more practitioners need to be investigated further.

Practitioners Yin Xiaolan, Tang Qiong, Zhang Jinmei, Liu Xiaoming and others were illegally sentenced are imprisoned at Lanzhou Women's Prison of Gansu Province.

1. Mr. Liu Zhirong died in Tianshui's 3rd Prison. Mr. Liu was among the seven practitioners who were transferred from Dingxi Prison to Tianshui's 3rd Prison on December 14, 2005. On January 11, 2006, Tianshui Prison sent people to notify Mr. Liu's family that he had "committed suicide." On January 13, eight of his relatives first saw his body at the crematory. He was dressed only in red underwear. There were several knife marks on his neck. The police said it was from a knife. His body did not show traces of blood, except at the knife cuts. One of the corners of his eyes was severely infected. When a relative asked about the eye, the police officer said, "He was bitten by a mouse." (There were so many other places on his body; why would a mouse bite his eye?) On January 14, relatives viewed his body for the second time. They asked to check for blood on his quilt. The police replied that the quilt had been burned. They asked to take the body with them. The police replied, "We won't give you the body. It will be directly cremated!" Police surrounded the relatives, who were afraid to say anything more.
   
   A witness said, "He was beaten to death. When I saw him being dragged out of the prison cell!" The witness said that Mr. Liu had refused to call out his roll call numbers and a group of police guards beat him. A heavy kick behind his ear rendered Mr. Liu unconscious. He was supposedly sent for a physical examination (investigations are still being made to determine where he was examined). When he was sent back he died. The police lied when they claimed that that he had committed suicide. To cover up this murder the police also conducted a so-called "great security inspection."
   
2. Mr. Huang Lizhi, 53 years old, a practitioner from Mawusi Village, Shilipu Township, Gangu County, Tianshui City, Gansu Province, was severely injured from beatings and then died.
   
3. Ms. Cheng Guilan, practitioner from the Maiji District, Tianshui City, Gansu Province, and principal engineer at the 213rd Group of Nuclear Industrial Ministry was tortured to death.
   
4. Ms. Liu Wenyu, 53 years old, retired from Railroad Hospital of Tianshui City, died as a result of persecution.
   
5. Mr. Wang Shenggui, 35 years old, a Taoist of Yuquan Taoist Monastary of Tianshui City, died in prison.

1. [Huanan County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Hu Xiuling Arrested

At around 9:00 p.m., on May 15, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Hu Xiuling was arrested by police from the Xinjian Station in Huanan County while passing out truth clarifying materials together with another fellow practitioner, and she is now detained in the Huanan County Detention Center. The other practitioner escaped the arrest.

On May 18, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhou Fengyun was arrested at home by policemen from the Qianjin District Department. All of her Falun Gong books were taken away.

3. [Tianmen City, Hubei Province] Mr. Wu Aiping Locked in Brainwashing Class for More Than 30 Days

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wu Aiping, in his 40s, was a teacher in the Fozishan Township, in Tianmen City who was very well-received by his students and colleagues. He tries to be the best person he can be according to Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, and obey the law. In mid April 2006, Tianmen City 610 Office agents deceived him into going out of town, and directly locked him up in the Tangxunhu Brainwashing class in Wuchang District, where he has been ever since. No one knows any of his information.

4. [Changbai County, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Fenglian Arrested

On May 17, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Zhang Fenglian and other two fellows (names unknown) from Changbai County, Jilin Province were arrested by Changbai County National Security Group Head Zhang Weishan (male) and several other agents. They are detained in the Changbai County Detention Center.

5. [Pengshan County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Ye Zhifang Arrested

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Ye Zhifang, 58, is a retired employee of Jiangkou Town Exchange Store in Pengshan County, and lives near the County Cement Factory Family Housing. She started practiceing Falun Gong in 1997. At around 8:00 p.m. on May 6, 2006, she was reported by the Seventh Utility Company Security guards when passing out truth clarifying materials near the Chengxin (means Integrity) Building, and was arrested on her way home by police from the Lingshi Town Station. At around 9:00 p.m., five police officers went to her home, ransacked the place, and confiscated her Zhuan Falun and "Nine Commentaries of the Communist Party" discs. She is now detained in the Pengshan County Detention Center, and forbidden to be visited.

Sixteen Falun Gong practitioners from Fularji District, Qiqihar City have been detained for more than eighteen months because they were hanging truth clarifying banners. They have recently been sentenced to prison. Among them, Ms. Yang Shujun has been sentenced to twelve years. Ms. Li Jiqiu, Mr. Li Bogang, and Ms. Sha Xiulan have been each sentenced to seven years. Ms. Wang Shuxin, Mr. Zhao Lizhuan, Ms. Zhao Yazhen, and Mr. Cui Rong have been sentenced to five years each. Ms. Xie Shuping, Ms. Liu Fenglian, Ms. Wen Shuqin, Ms. Wang Lianbo, Ms. Hao Xiaoxia, and Ms. Xu Guirong have been sentenced to three years each. Mr. Li Weiling and Mr. Zhaung Qingxue have been sentenced to eighteen months each.

7. [Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Kang Yupu Arrested

On the morning of May 3, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Kang Yupu (employee of the Ventilation Section of the Dongfeng Mine in Qitaihe City) was arrested by Chen Zhiqiang and Jiang Shibin (both male), and others while passing out truth clarifying materials in the office building. They hit him, detained him, and ransacked his home, but found nothing besides two straw huts. They detained his son (a non-practitioner) for 24 hours in the Dongfeng Mine Police Station, and threatened this less than 20 year-old young man. They also went to his son's house and workplace to harass him, forcing his son to not go to work or go home regularly. He was hiding out for quite a while. Mr. Kang Yupu has been sent to forced labor in the Suihua City Labor Camp.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Cao Chongqiang, 33, lived in Tenth Group, Eighth Village, Banzeng Town, Shunqing District, Nanchong City. At around 8:00 a.m., on March 28, 2006, he was arrested in the Lanjun Drug Store by a group of police [including Longmen Town Station Head Huang Longjun (male), Deputy Head Liao (male, first name unknown), and Gaoping District State Security Agent Tian (male, first name unknown)]. They handcuffed him and even ankle-shackled him, and said they were taking him to be interrogated in the Longmen Town Station. Mr. Cao was brutally beaten by Huang Longjun and another policeman (badge number 044717), causing his body to sustain many injuries. His family went to visit him in the Longmen Town Station, but was refused, and no one knows exactly where he is now.

Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Shi Hongwei and his wife Yang Deyan lived in Hongqi Village, Qijiazi Town, Changtu County, Tieling City. At noon on May 16, 2006, they were both arrested at their home by agents from the Tieling City Legal Justice Bureau. The excuse was that they went on the Internet to quit the CCP and its organization by a connection through their cell phone, and they were detected by policemen from the Liaoning Province Department. They are both detained now in Changtu County Detention Center.

10. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Seventy Year-Old Mr. Zhang Fucai and Others Tortured in Luotaishanzhuang Brainwashing Class

On May 13, 2006, directed by Yingcai Neighborhood Administration, policemen from Chengdong Station of Shuncheng District arrested Mr. Zhang Fucai (over 70 years old) from his home, and locked him in the Luotaishanzhuang Brainwashing Class. They want to force Mr. Zhang to give up his Falun Gong practice. No one knows the details of how they are torturing him yet.

Several Falun Gong practitioerns from Xinbin County, Fushun City, including Ms. Huo Xiulan, Ms. Ma Liyun, Ms. Guan Shumei, and Mr. Lu Zhaoxin were also arrested, and are now also locked in the Luotaishanzhuang Brainwashing Class.

At the end of March 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xu Guiying (over 50 years old) was arrested by policemen from the Xinfu Station when clarifying the truth at the Xinfu Street Market, and was sent to Masanjia Labor Camp. Ms. Xu has been tortured there to the point of being very weak, and her life is in danger.

12. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] New Persecution Crimes in the Heizuizi Women's Labor Camp

Since April 26, 2006, the Administration of Heizuizi Women Labor Camp in Changchun City has conducted another round of severe persecution. The Changchun City 610 Office sent a group of collaborators who turned against Falun Gong, including Zhu Jiahui (male), Zhang Jingxu (female), and Fan Shuzhen (female) to serve as brainwashing helpers. They tried all their might to force solid practitioners to cooperate with them, but Falun Gong practitioners refused. Guard Bi Mingming (female) electric baton shocked practitioners, and beat them with her fists and by kicking. They also forced practitioners to write regret letters.

Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Zhang Jianshen, Mr. Sun Suzhang, Ms. Piao Chunling, and Ms. Bai Shumin from Dawa County, Panjin City were arrested, and are now detained in Dawa County Detention Center.

At around 10:30 p.m. on September 9, 2004, Tanfu Town 610 Officer Wang Mingjun (male) in Mengyin County led more than ten people to climb over a wall into Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Kan Jixiang's home, break open the door, and arrest Ms. Kan Jixiang, who had been sleeping along with her children. Her two children were chased out of the door crying, but these scoundrels pushed her children to the road side, and detained Ms. Kan Jixiang for more than 50 days at the 610 Office. During this time, Wang Mingjun extorted three thousand yuan from Ms. Kan Jixiang's older brother.

15. [Yumen City, Gansu Province] Additional Information of Ms. Lu Yarong's Arrest

On the evening of May 11, 2006, about eight police officers from the Beiping Station, including Zou Hong (female), Cao Jun (male), Xu Ping (male), and Yu Chenghe (male), along with others, stormed into Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lu Yarong's home, and arrested her. The first three officers have participated in every arrest of Falun Gong practitioners in Yumen City.

On May 12, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Wang Dengxiang and his wife Sun Xiulan were arrested in the Weifang City Train Station in Shandong Province when they were getting ready to take the train home. Station police found that they carried Falun Gong truth clarifying materials, but released them on the same day. After they returned home in Changbaishan County, at around 9:30 p.m., they were both arrested by police from the Changbaishan County Department. Their exact detainment location is unknown.

On the afternoon of April 24, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gu Xianye went to the Songhuajiang Town Police Station to renew his personal ID. Policeman Zhang Xiangyang arrested him, and sent him to the Dehui City Police Department.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yin Anbang from Harbin City has been sentenced to four years in prison due to clarifying the truth in the class. He has been transferred from the Hulan County Prison to the Tailai Prison in Qiqihar City at the end of April 2006. During the past over fifty days, he has been able to only eat liquid food, and is very weak now.

19. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Tan Pingyun Tortured to Death in Wangcun Labor Camp on May 18, 2006

20. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Two Vehicles Full of Falun Gong Practitioners Transferred out of Dashan Detention Center

Around March 2006, two vehicles full of Falun Gong practitioners were transferred out of Dashan Detention Center. According to witnesses, there were about 60 practitioners in total, male and female, young or old, but none looked like criminals, rather they looked like Falun Gong practitioners. There were armed soldiers escorting them.

On April 4, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Decun from Dujialing Village, Duozhuang Town, Mengyin County was reported. Duozhuang Town government officials, police from Town Station, and 610 Office agents ransacked his home together. They even went through a bag of grain shells and robbed their eight thousand yuan worth of savings (including cash and bank books). They arrested Mr. Zhang Decun, and detained him in the Duozhuang Town Police Station. His over eighty year-old parents have been threatened.

On the same day, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lu Xingrong from Xiduozhuang Village, Duozuang Town clarified the truth to Li Yingong's wife (from Waziping Village, same Town), and was reported by Li Yingong. Duozhuang Town 610 Office head Li Guang lead a group of policemen and people from the Town government to storm into Mr. Lu Xingrong's home, ransack the place, and rob his family savings of over forty thousand yuan and their personal IDs. Mr. Lu Xingrong and his wife were not at home. Only their child was home. These scoundrels withdrew fifteen thousand yuan on the afternoon of the same day, and froze the rest in the bank. Mr. Lu Xingrong and his wife are currently both detained in the Duozhuang Town Police Station.

On June 22, 2004, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Xuefeng from Hailaer District, Hulunbeier City was arrested, and is still detained in the Hailaer District Labor Camp.

23. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] 610 Office's Plan of Further Persecution

Recently, the Fengrun District 610 Office in Tangshan City secretly passed down a document to each lower level to further persecute Falun Gong practitioners. They re-compiled a black list of known Falun Gong practitioners.

24. [Longkou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Lu Yanna Arrested Again

At around 9:00 a.m. on May 8, 2006, Xiadingjia Town Procuratorate and policemen tried to arrest Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lu Yanna from her parent's house, but she was not there. They deceived her parents, and found out that she was working in the Nanshan Area in Longkou City. They then went to Nanshan to arrest her and she was detained in the Zhangjiagou Prison.

On March 30, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chen Mingxian has been secretly transferred from the Tiebei Prison in Changchun City to the Gongzhuling Prison. He has been tortured by being locked in a small cell (1) for 15 days since April 28-29, 2006. His body has suffered many symptoms since coming out of the small cell.

At around 8:30 p.m. on May 11, 2006, Wanfa Town (in Lishu County) Police Station head Wang Changhe (male) and deputy head Wang Fengcheng (male) lead a few police officers to Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gao Peng's home in the Ninth Commune, Songjia Village, Taiping Town, Lishu County, and arrested him. They later went to Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chen Mingxian's home, and tried to arrest his wife (also a practitioner), but she was not home. Mr. Gao Peng is now detained in the Lishu County Detention Center, and his home was ransacked on May 12, 2006.

In November 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Lei from Zhoukou City was locked in the Baimiao Forced Labor Camp in Zhengzhou City. He has been on hunger strike to protest the persecution, and is as thin as a skeleton. He is in critical condition!

On the morning of July 11, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. He Sanpu from Zhengzhou City was arrested by State Security Agents from the Henan Province Police Department (assisted by Henan Newspaper Corp). He has been detained in the Wanqingshanzhuang Brainwashing Class located in Xiliu Lake, Zhengzhou City for the past nine months.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gao is the younger brother of Ms. Gao Aihua, who was tortured to death (see /emh/articles/2006/4/12/71869.html). Liji Street Police Station (in Qiaokou District, Wuhan City) deputy head Ni Xin and policeman Hong Xianming have harassed Mr. Gao many times at his home, which forced Mr. Gao to leave his home to avoid being harassed or arrested at home.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. He Xianzhen is a retired employee of the Panxi Prison in Xichang City. On May 9, 2006, she was arrested by State Security Agents from the Xichang City Police Department, and is now detained in the Tuohuang Detention Center.

According to reliable sources, during the May First Holiday season, the Tianjin City 610 Office transferred all detained Falun Gong practitioners in the prisons or labor camps to the Tianjin City Police Academy Affiliated Women's Prison (located in Xiqing District).

In mid April 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Sui Jianhua from Xuzhuang Village, Liuhezi Town, Linqing City was arrested and detained in the Linqing City Detention Center.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Suzhen, in her 40s, is an employee of the Daxinzhuang Grain Management Bureau in Fengnan City (under Tangshan City). She was arrested by policemen from Daxinzhuang Station on May 8, 2006, while passing out truth clarifying materials, and is now detained in the Fengnan Detention Center.

On the evening of May 17, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xia Xiulan from Fujin City, Heilongjiang Province was arrested by police officer Zhao Huaixiang (male, in charge of persecution Falun Gong in the city) from the Fujin City Department. She is now detained in Fujin City Detention Center. Ms Xia Xiulan never cooperated with the evil during interrogation.

Ms. Xia's family went to request her release, but they were chased out by the National Security Group head Sun Weiyang (male), who threatened to arrest her family members.

At around 2:00 p.m., on May 16, 2006, policemen from Supoqiao Station (in Qingyang District) stormed into Ms. Ou Surong and her daughter Li Suqun's home, and arrested nine Falun Gong practitioners who were reading Falun Gong articles together. Beside Ms. Ou and her daughter Ms. Li, the other seven practitioners are Ms. Xiao Meizhi, Ms. Li Guijun, Ms. Li Rufen, practitioner Liu (gender unknown, severely beaten, mouth gagged), practitioner Su (gender unknown), Zheng (gender unknown), and Cui (gender unknown).

Among these nine practitioners, one (over seventy year-old) practitioner's hands were swollen due to being cuffed too tight. Three of them have been released home.

Note:

(1) Small cell - The detainee is locked up in a very small cell individually. The guards handcuff practitioners behind their backs in a fixed position, in which the practitioners can neither move nor lie down. The small cell is very damp and no sunshine comes in. Detainees have to urinate and defecate in the cell. Only half of a regular meal is served to detainees locked up in a small cell during the daytime. During the night rats run around. The stench in the small cell is so bad that it is difficult to breathe.
