  • Siping Prison Refuses to Release Tortured and Hospitalized Falun Gong Practitioners

Siping Prison has persecuted illegally detained Falun Gong practitioners Jin Xuezhe, Liu Zhijun, Wang Hongge and others so severely that they have been hospitalized and diagnosed with illnesses. Additionally, the prison has lengthened their prison terms using fabricated excuses.

Changchun Falun Gong Practitioner Jin Xuzhe Hospitalized Due to Persecution

Jin Xuezhe has been illegally imprisoned in the Siping Prison in Jilin Province for three years. His family members were not allowed to know the true extent of the persecution that Mr. Jin faced. Currently, they are only informed that Jin Xuezhe has been hospitalized. Whenever they communicate with the prison staff, the conversation is under surveillance and any discussion of his mistreatment is prohibited. The family members also have no idea of the severity of Mr. Jin's illness.

With regards to the illegal sentence, Jin Xuezhe has written many appeal letters, but the Siping Prison has refused to acknowledge his appeal or allow further processing, and has kept the letters for six months without justification. Falun Gong practitioners in the Siping Prison do not enjoy any basic human rights. In fact, they are treated worse than criminals. Their appeal letters are not processed, they are not allowed to eat together, and they are not allowed to bring any material possessions with them at all.

Liu Zhijun from Yushu City Diagnosed with High Blood Pressure and Heart Disease Due to Persecution

Liu Zhijun has been transferred from Yushu to Siping Prison over three years ago. He has been diagnosed with high blood pressure (160), heart problems, and his legs tremble after he stands for a short period of time. Liu Zhijun's family tried to communicate with Li Zhiqiang, a member of the Prison Political Section, but Li rejected them, saying he was busy. Mr. Liu's family had to follow him to the fifth floor before Li allowed the family members to meet the Punishment Committee. Liu Zhijun's family asked the Punishment Committee to release Mr. Liu on bail for medical treatment. They were told that the People's Procuratorate has to be consulted first. The Punishment Committee Staff promised to call Mr. Liu's family members to notify them. More than two weeks passed and there were no phone calls. When the 11th Prison District Chief commented sternly that, "There is no problem, he won't die," Mr. Liu's family members asked for his guarantee, but the Prison District Chief dared not give it, saying that sometimes people die in hospitals.

Prison Staff Refuses to Release Changchun Falun Gong Practitioner Wang Hongge Despite Severe Medical Condition

For more than a month, Changchun City Falun Gong Practitioner Wang Hongge's family members have repeatedly visited the Siping Prison staff who are responsible for Mr. Wang's deteriorating health. They were not allowed to even enter the door on several occasions, and were chased away if they refused to leave or waited near the entrance guards' office.

On March 21, Wang Hongge's family members chanced upon the Prison Chief and Lan Lijun, Assistant to the Prison Chief near the staircase in the General Office. However, Lan excused himself from meeting Mr. Wang's family by saying that he had an errand to run. On his way out, Mr. Wang's family members expressed their feelings, hoping that Lan could become concerned with the current health of Wang Hongge. Lan replied that he knew Wang Hongge's situation very well, and that the prison staff would provide the necessary medical treatment if Mr. Wang was sick. Lan added that an in-depth medical checkup would require the prison staff to coordinate a time with hospitals, and said that having Mr. Wang release on bail for medical treatment could only be approved if deemed appropriate by the prison hospital. He also said that the prison only follows regulations and that their policy was not related to any injustice committed by the court and its relevant departments.

Dalian Police Detained Visiting Family Members and Threatened to Send Them to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

Since the facts about organs being removed from living Falun Gong practitioners at Shenyang's Sujiatun Concentration Camp have been exposed, the international community has been shocked. Sujiatun has become an infamous focal point for the world's attention. Also, the media have revealed that there are no longer many practitioners detained at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. Most of those practitioners have been delivered to the Sujiatun Concentration Camp. When this news was made public, all the families of the persecuted Falun Gong practitioners have started worrying about the safety of their loved ones.

Mr. Hao Fukui, a 70-year-old practitioner from Jilin Province, was illegally arrested by about 25 policemen from the Dalian City Police Station and the 610 Office. He was illegally detained in the development zone detention center. The authorities persecuted him for nine months until he was at death's door On February 27, 2006, Mr. Hao was placed in the Third Hospital of the Dalian Development Zone in Room 407. When his family heard this news, they rushed overnight to be at the hospital on March 1 to see him. The police and Mr. Hao's family had a quarrel, and Mr. Hao was sent back to the detention center. When three of his family members--Hao Yuefeng, Liu Mingwei, and Mu Chunmei--went to see him, the police held them at the detention center for no reason.

After the rest of the family learned that Hao Yuefeng, Liu Mingwei, and Mu Chunmei were missing, they searched for them for three weeks. Finally they got a lead. On March 20, the family traveled a long way from the countryside of Jilin to Dalian City, searching for news of their family. On the morning of the 21st, they arrived in Dalian on the train. They asked around after getting off the train. At 2:00 p.m., they found the police department in the development zone. After explaining the situation, nobody in the department would receive them. The family made their request several times and finally got hold of a staff member in an appeal office. The staff said that they knew about the situation, but they were not in charge of it. The family was told to contact the political-economic security section (actually it is the 610 Office) and talk to Xu Yungang, the director in charge. The family went, but Xu wasn't in. They found several phone numbers but still could not talk to him. The family didn't know what else to try, so they left.

The next morning, before 8:00 a.m., the family went to the development zone police department, but the doorman kept them out. The relevant officers made excuses not to receive them. The family waited outside in the cold for hours. They told the doorman they would not leave until the matter was settled. They also asked to meet the department director or an even higher official. The doorman delivered this message to the responsible officers. Xu Yungang and another police officer brought the family into the hallway. Mr. Xu said that he would only allow two people in, and the rest had to stay outside. Xu Yungang said in a low voice, "It wasn't because they (Hao Yuefeng, Liu Mingwei, and Mu Chunmei) practice Falun Gong that they were arrested. It was because they were carrying promotional items." He then threatened to send them to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for two years. When the family asked what promotional items the three were carrying, Xu hemmed and hawed and didn't give a direct answer.

The family wanted to know the reason for the arrest. Xu Yungang claimed that he wasn't involved in it. The family asked who was. Xu didn't say. The family became very suspicious and also very worried. They asked to see their arrested family members. Xu immediately said that it wasn't possible. Then the family asked whether the three were healthy and safe. Xu became agitated and said, "Is it because you heard about the crematory in Sujiatun?" The family said that they didn't have any knowledge of it. Xu immediately changed the subject and told them to go home and wait to be notified.

Everyone now knows that Masanjia Forced Labor Camp was the supplier of Sujiatun's living bodies to be used for organ harvesting. Xu Yungang said to send Hao Yuefeng, Liu Mingwei, and Mu Chunmei to Masanjia. Why wouldn't the family worry?

Exposing the Crimes of Huang Haiyan in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

The practitioners who were "reformed" and went wayward in their Falun Gong practice in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp said that there was no persecution of Falun Gong practitioners there. These were lies against their conscience. I saw with my own eyes how the brutal female prison police officer Huang Haiyan persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. I am now writing down her crimes for the purpose of creating a record.

Huang Haiyan, in her 30s, a resident of Shenyang City, was Team Three leader of the 1st Group in the Masanjia Force Labor Camp. For the sake of joining the Chinese Communist party and be promoted, she followed the orders of Jiang's regime closely. She used very brutal methods to persecute Falun Gong practitioners who persisted in their practice. For example, she would slap them on the face, gag them with stinking socks, forbid them from sleeping, lock them up in a small solitary cage, handcuff their arms behind their back and hang them up in the air, and use other cruel torture methods to "reform" Falun Gong practitioners.

The following are specific incidents of torture:

    Incident 1:

Ms. Liu Yanwen, in her 50s, persisted in her faith in Falun Gong. Huang Haiyan therefore punished her and locked her up in a small solitary cage. Each time, Ms. Liu would be locked up for half a month. If she refused to be "reformed," she would be locked up again. Liu Yanwen suffered much in that cage. She was not allowed to go to the toilet, and therefore had to relieve herself in her pants. Her legs were swollen and her skin developed blot clots and went putrid. The cage was so small that she could not stand up, nor could she squat down. In the winter they opened the windows and doors of the room and prevented her from getting any warmth. Ms. Liu was only given two meals a day, each consisting of a half a bun and a thin vegetable broth. A healthy person would be so weak after this abuse that he would have difficulty walking, and one's black hair would have turned white. As Liu Yanwen did not give up her practice, she was sent to the Dabei Prison.

    Incident 2:

Wang Shuhua, principal of a secondary school in Chaoyang, was steadfast in her practice of Falun Gong. She refused to be "reformed." Huang Haiyan hung her up in the air many times. In the sultry summer weather, Wang Shuhua was hung up for a week and not given any food, forbidden from going to the toilet, and was thus forced to relieve herself in her pants. Her clothes were soaked with sweat. Her whole body smelled bad. Only when she lost consciousness was she then let down. If Ms. Wang refused to be "reformed," she was hung up again.

    Incident 3:

Fan Jinghua is a resident of Benxi City. Besides being hung up in the air, she was forbidden to sleep. She was also slapped on the face by Huang Haiyan and gagged with stinking socks.

Practitioner Xiang Jingzhi was also slapped, and gagged with stinking socks.

Wang Xia (from Dalian City), Lin Ping (60 years old) and Leng Liandi (almost 70 years old) were also hung up in the air and locked up in a small solitary cage. All three of them lost consciousness many times. When they refused to "reform," Huang Haiyan would torture them further.

Details of the Persecution in Jinchang City under CCP Official Zhang Yunsheng

Zhang Yunsheng, around 55 years old, is the former head of the Yongchang County CCP (Chinese Communist Party) Committee and currently head of the propaganda department in the Jinchang City CCP Committee. When he was Yongchang County CCP Committee head, Yongchang County was known as the worst county for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.

On March 6, 2002, under the personal instruction of Zhang Yunsheng, and Lu Zhixiong, head of the county government (currently the head of the county CCP Committee), the police in Yongchang County started to arrest and detain Falun Gong practitioners. Two practitioners were illegally arrested that day. In the afternoon, the townships in the county started to act, too. Between March 7 and March 21, more than 30 practitioners were arrested. About 20 of them were from Jiaojiazhuang Township. The practitioners were brutally beaten in the Yongchang County Detention Center.

Practitioner Xiao Qin started a hunger strike to protest. The police viciously dumped boiling hot rice porridge directly into his mouth through a device that was used to open his mouth.

Xiao Qin's mother suffered brutal beating that made her limp permanently.

Practitioner Lao Hu, about 60 years old, lost consciousness due to the beatings. The policemen threw cold water on him and put him in shackles.

On May 14, 2002, the Yongchang County Judicial Department held a public gathering in the county stadium. More than 30 practitioners were brought in with both wrists handcuffed and a big sign hanging in front of their chests with words that defamed Falun Gong. In front of the crowded audience, policemen announced their so-called sentences. The practitioners were later publicly paraded in the streets.

After Zhang Yunsheng was promoted to the propaganda department head of the Jinchang City CCP Committee, he continued to commit crimes and deceive people. In the middle of July 2005, during the "Week of Technology Movies," the propaganda department ordered the movie company to play a movie slandering Falun Gong every evening at 8:30 at the People's Culture Square for a whole week. At the same time, every community and police station in the city was ordered to display exhibitions that slandered Falun Gong and Master Li.

The following are some incidents of persecution that Zhang Yunsheng perpetrated when he was the head of the Yongchang County CCP Committee.

Many happy families torn apart because of the persecution

Mr. Zhang Yanrong started to practice Falun Gong in 1998. The police took him away in July 1999 and detained him for two months in a drug-rehabilitation center. Later, Mr. Zhang was sentenced to two years of forced labor because he and his nephew went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. He was released in February 2002. On March 7, he and his wife were arrested. Mr. Zhang was sentenced to 12 years and his wife was sentenced to 8 years in prison. Their son was only 16 years old and was unable to continue school. Although he didn't practice Falun Gong, he received a warning as punishment. The happy family was torn apart.

Wang Zexin started to practice Falun Gong in 1998. In October 1999, the police searched his home and found Falun Gong books and materials. The couple was illegally arrested and detained for one month. In February 2001, Wang Zexin rode a bicycle to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. He was later sentenced to one-and-a half years of forced labor. On March 6, 2002, the couple was arrested again. One was sentenced to 10 years in prison and the other 7 years in prison. A 78-year-old mother and their 9-year-old daughter were left home without the care they needed.

Qin Dexin and his parents practiced Falun Gong. On January 11, 2000, Qin Dexin went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. Later, he was taken back and sentenced to one-and-a-half years of forced labor. He suffered brutal persecution in the labor camp. When Mr. Qin was released, he only weighed a little more than 35 kg (77 lbs). On March 6, 2002, Mr. Qin was arrested again. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison. His father was sentenced to seven years in prison and his mother was sentenced to three years.

Many practitioners were handed lengthy prison terms

Falun Gong practitioner Fan Yongcheng was a retiree from the service branch of the Jinchuan Corporation. On February 4, 2002 he was detained for 15 days by the security department of the Jinchuan Corporation. Later he was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Hu Shangxue was a retiree from the veterinary clinic in Jiaojiazhuang Township. On February 24, 2000 and December 1, 2000, the Yongchang County police illegally arrested and detained him for 15 days each time. On January 17 and September 5, 2001, agents from the county police department tried to sentence him two years forced labor, but were not successful. Later he was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Yue Peifu was a farmer. Because of practicing Falun Gong, on January 27, 2000 he was illegally detained for 15 days by the Yongchang Police Department, and later he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Practitioner Zhu Dayi was a farmer. He was harassed by the Yongchang County Police on January 31, 2000 and later was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Wang Zefang (female) was a farmer who practiced Falun Gong. The Yongchang County Police detained her for 15 days on January 27, 2000 and February 28, 2002. Later she was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Practitioner Qin Jichang was a farmer. The Yongchang police detained him on January 31, 2000 for 15 days. Later, he was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Practitioner Wang Yongfang (female) was a farmer. The Yongchang police detained her for 15 days on January 31, 2000, July 28, 2000 and February 28, 2002 respectively. Later, she was sentenced to seven years in prison.

The practitioners who were sentenced to long prison terms are all detained in the Jiuquan Brainwashing Camp.

Ms. Zhang Guifeng from Mengyin County Arrested

Note: The following is a summary of a more detailed article that appeared on the minghui.ca website, the Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Guifeng, about 38 years old, is from the Town of Mengyin in Mengyin County, Shandong Province. She had a business at the Xinghua Shopping Mall in Mengyin County. On March 23, 2006, the police illegally arrested Ms. Zhang in front of the shopping mall. The police searched her store and her house and took her Falun Gong books, truth clarification CDs, and other materials. Ms. Zhang was then secretly imprisoned in Qi'nan County, probably at the local detention center.

It has been reported that practitioners Mr. Gao Jun and his wife, Ms. Wang Guiying, who live in Mengyin County Brewhouse, were taken away by local 610 Office agents. Mr. Gao has already been released. His wife, Ms. Wang, is still being detained. Further details are being investigated.
