Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Sun Changde, 43, from Changchun City, Jilin Province, was illegally sentenced to eight years in prison in 2002 and was held at the No. 2 Prison in Jilin Province, also called the Jilin Prison. He was savagely tortured and developed severe tuberculosis. The prison authorities refused to release him despite his condition, and his health continued to deteriorate. He was eventually released in June 2006, when both of his lungs had completely ulcerated and he was coughing up blood. He passed away on November 28, 2006.
Mr. Sun began practicing Falun Gong in March 1996. He followed Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, according to Falun Gong's principles. Soon he quit drinking and smoking. He became healthier and his family was happy. Jiang Zemin's regime began slandering and persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. Mr. Sun went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong, and was arrested and detained.
Mr. Sun Changde appealed in Beijing again in March 2000. The police violently punched and kicked him, and sent him to a custody center. After the illegally imposed term had expired, Zhang Shun, an officer from the Heshun Police Station in the Erdao District, took him to the police station, telling his family to wait outside the building. He called Mr. Sun upstairs, where a large man was also present. He asked Mr. Sun whether he would continue to practice Falun Gong or appeal, and Mr. Sun said "yes" to both. They beat him, resulting in several large bumps on his head. After the beating, the police ordered Mr. Sun to move to another precinct within one week so that his status as a Falun Gong practitioner would no longer impact the police in this area. Mr. Sun and his family had no choice but to move.
Mr. Sun Changde was arrested again on January 14, 2001 [Chinese lunar calendar]. During the time he was held at the detention center, the guards often tortured and interrogated him. One year later, Nanguan District Court officials in Changchun City sentenced him to ten years in prison at the Jilin Prison. He was barbarically tortured, and his weight dropped from 198 lbs. to 121 lbs. He could not take care of himself and suffered from severe anemia, blurry eyesight, inability to walk, severe tuberculosis, protrusion of the lower spinal discs and arrhythmia.
Mr. Sun Changde once lost consciousness in the restroom. His family
requested medical parole on his behalf numerous times but guard Zhang
Yong said, "We can grant medical parole only on two conditions. First,
if his family is rich, then we can release him, even if he is not sick.
Second, if he would die several days after going home."
Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Bing in Qian'an County, Jilin Province, is suffering a type of persecution called "rigorous restraint," and has been forbidden visits by family members at the First Brigade of Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City. Instigated convicts use all kinds of measures to torture and agonize Ms. Wang Bing in attempting to force her to give up Falun Gong practice.
Li Yanbo, from the National Security Group of Qian'an County Police Department, and Li Dongyang from Dabusu Police Station, as well as another five villains, broke into Ms. Wang's house after 9:00 p.m. on the evening of April 20, 2006. She was illegally arrested and her house was searched, and then she was taken to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun for persecution on April 30. Wang Bing went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention, and was then force-fed many times. As a result, her stomach was injured in several places and she lost a lot of blood. Her life was in danger. After more than three months of illegal detention, her weight dropped to 35-40 kilograms (77 to 88 lbs.) from her original weight of more than 65 kilograms (143 lbs.). Since she persisted in practicing, she was hung by her handcuffed wrists at her bed around the clock every day by the guard Wei Dan and the group head Yan Lifeng, and was monitored by two "personal cangues" (1)
On November 20, 2006, one of Ms. Wang Bing's family members came to Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp to request a visit with her. After following the procedures and going upstairs, the guards informed Ms. Wang's relative, "Wang Bing's visitation is suspended. This is an order approved by our superiors." When the family member asked "Why?" the answer was, "She breached the regulations and the discipline of the Labor Camp." The family member then asked, "Which item was breached?" The answer was, "It is none of our business, we only monitor visitors. You should go inquire at the front building."
The family member then said, "It is illegal to restrain people's freedom." The guard smiled, "freedom? How can freedom be talked about here?"
Ms. Wang's relative went to the front building and asked to see the group head. At the beginning the guard was unwilling to call, but later he called the First Group very reluctantly after the repeated requests by Wang Bing's family member. After the call he said, "Go out of the gate and wait there." After waiting a long time, there was no result so the relative asked again. The janitor said, "Didn't they tell you that she is not allowed any visitors because she breached the regulations and the discipline of the labor camp? You should go back home as soon as possible!" The family member asked, "Which possible item was breached? We came from far away and we need to understand this!" The janitor handed over the telephone and said, "You can ask for yourself."
When the telephone was answered, the family member asked, "May I have your surname?" The answer was "my surname is Li." The family member said, "I want to talk to the head of the group." That person answered, "That's me." The family member then asked why Ms. Wang Bing was not allowed visitors. The answer was still, "She has breached the regulations and discipline of the Labor Camp." When the family member asked which item was breached, a voice was heard on the telephone, "Here you are." Then the telephone was passed to another person. The voice was identified as of that of Wei Dan. She said, "Wang Bing is not allowed any visitors because she has breached the regulations and the discipline of the Labor Camp. The order has been approved by our superiors, we just handle things based on the regulations." The family member asked again which item was breached. The answer was, "She practices Falun Gong."
The family member asked, "Which item of your regulation and discipline reads that practice is forbidden?" The answer was, "This is all regulated by Ms. Lian, the head of the Management Section. You must go to Ms. Lian to inquire. What's more, I have already informed your family." The family member asked, "Whom did you inform?" She couldn't answer, however.
The family member then called Ms. Lian, the head of the Management Section. Lian said, "She practices Falun Gong." The family member asked, "Which item is breached by practicing Falun Gong?" The answer was, "Is it necessary for me to tell you?" When the family member answered, "Yes." Ms. Lian answered, "She practices Falun Gong. We talked to her, but she didn't listen to us." The family member said, "We live a long way from here and it is difficult to come. Please arrange a meeting for us - what's more, you didn't inform us in advance." Then she answered, "How could we inform you without your telephone number?" The family member said, "So how did you inform us when Wang Bing was hospitalized last time?" Ms. Lian then lost her temper and said, "What is your educational background? You can't understand my words?" With a bang, she hung up the telephone.
On December 11, the family member went to the Labor Camp once again
to
visit Wang Bing, but was ejected out of the gate and forbidden from
visiting. Now the family members are very concerned about her, for they
are wondering the reason why their visits are always blocked.
On December 13, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners Li Guang and Wang Yingwei of Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, Li Xiaoyan, and Zhou Yingchun of Suizhong County, Huludao City were clarifying the truth on the No. 1230 train from Fuxin to Shanghai. Someone reported them and they were arrested at the Jinan Train Station at around 6:00 a.m. on the 14th.
Their family members phoned the Ministry of Railways (phone number: 86-10-51842988). A man answered the phone and said that he knew about the incident but refused to say where the arrested practitioners had been taken. He said, "If she can go home, tell her to stop practicing Falun Gong." The family members said, "It was Falun Gong that gave her good health. We will not tell her to quit."
Mr. Wang Yingwei, a Falun Gong practitioner from Jinzhou City, was arrested on June 26, 2000 for practicing Falun Gong at Tiananmen Square. He was taken back to the Jinzhou Detention Center. In April of 2004, Mr. Wang was arrested again. His wife Ms. Li Fengjun is currently detained at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, and their 10-year-old daughter is left alone at home. Mr. Wang Yingyi, Wang Yingwei's brother, was arrested in October 2006 in Yantai. Currently, he is in critical condition as a result of persecution in a force labor camp. Ms. Li Xiaoyan, a practitioner from Suizhong County, Huludao City, was sentenced to three years of forced labor camp in 1999 on a fabricated charge. She was released in 2002 when she was in critical condition as a result of the persecution. Afterwards she was harassed many times by local CCP officials. The Suizhong County Agricultural Bureau fired her when she was put in the forced labor camp, and her husband divorced her under the pressure. Ms. Li appealed to the Politics and Law Office, the 610 Office and her original work unit and asked to be allowed to resume her work, but the authorities just passed responsibility back and forth to each other. Eventually, the Huludao City 610 Office reported the case to the provincial officials. They still refused to allow her to go back to work and only gave her a small amount of insurance money.
Ms. Zhou Yingchun, a practitioner from Suizhong County, has
been subjected to the persecution for years. Mr. Li Guang, a
practitioner from Nanpiao, Jinzhou City, has also been persecuted for
several years and was forced to become homeless to avoid arrest by
local police.

At 8:00 p.m. on December 15, 2006, several policemen from the
Shuangyushu Station in the Haidian District of Beijing stormed into the
home of 63-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Shuying. Her home is
located in the Third Building of the Daniwan Neighborhood. The police
found some Falun Gong books and threatened her husband (a
non-practitioner) that they would arrest him as well. Soon after, they
came back again and took their family computer. Ms. Li's husband and
their relatives went to Shuangyushu Police Station to ask why she
was arrested and also to request her release. The police said that Ms.
Li was taken to Qinghe Detention Center, and that she was not allowed
to have visitors. Ms. Li Shuying received a three-year prison sentence
in 2000. She has
been under close monitoring since she was released in 2003.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Xiuying lives in Yuzhong District, Chongqing City, and she has been detained many times under the persecution. In May 2000, she was tortured brutally while being detained in the Maojiashan Women's Labor Camp. In October 2001, Ms. Li was released from the camp, but in January 2002, he was arrested again and sentenced to four years in prison. This time she was cruelly tortured in the Yongchuan Women's Prison until her life was in danger. She was bailed out for medical treatment on April 8, 2004.
In October 2005, Ms. Li Xiuiying was arrested along with five other practitioners. The police ransacked her home and detained her in the Liziba Detention Center located in Yuzhong District. The Yuzhong District Court put her on open trial three times without any guilty verdict or sentence. The CCP later secretly sentenced her to three years in prison. Ms. Li Xiuying appealed immediately, but the Chongqing City Middle Court upheld the sentencing. Ms. Li is now detained in the Chongqing City Women's Prison located in Yongchuan City.
