On December 9-10, 2006, Turkish Falun Gong practitioners gathered in the capital city of Ankara to collect signatures on the busiest pedestrian street. They hoped to expose the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) evil conduct, and to appeal for an end to the persecution, as well as tell the Turkish people about the CCP's brutal persecution of Falun Gong during the past seven years.

It was a weekend, and the weather was extremely sunny, which made the pedestrian street even busier than usual. Practitioners hung up banners and displayed many photos and pictures about Falun Gong and Falun Gong’s spread all over the world. The activity attracted the attention of many pedestrians, who stopped to watch and sign the petition one after another.
People were shocked by the pictures on the display boards which presented the brutal torture that Falun Gong practitioners have experienced. They expressed indignation at accounts of the CCP's organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners.

An elderly couple walked to our signature collection table and said to practitioners with tears in their eyes, "We can not write, please help us to sign our names. The CCP conduct is lower than animals. Don’t be scared, we all support you."
Several well dressed persons, who looked like government officials, carefully read the leaflet about the CCP organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners and the reckless persecution and killing of innocent Falun Gong practitioners. They signed their names one after another and said to practitioners, "Any person with a conscience can not be oblivious to this kind of atrocity. The CCP evil conduct will certainly be opposed by all just forces."
A group of young people were denouncing the CCP's ruthless conduct while reading the captions of the anti-torture pictures. "This is simply not human behavior." "Such an evil regime must be eliminated by Heaven." Afterwards, they arrived at the front of the table and signed their names.
Having signed the petition, a middle-aged person said to a practitioner, "I am a plainclothes policeman, and according to our discipline, we are not allowed to participate in this kind of activity. However, the CCP is too brutal, my conscience makes me unable to ignore this kind of atrocity and I support you personally."
During the two days, more than 4,000 flyers had been handed out. The responses from ordinary people were strong and positive. One could hear the voices like "Zulme Hayir (no more torture)," and "Iskenceyi Durdur! (Stop the killing)" coming from the crowd from time to time.
This activity was organized by the Turkish Falun Gong Association and the application for the activity was approved by the government. The activity received support and help from related government departments and the security department. It was also one of a few permits issued by the government for activities being held in the city center on World Human Rights Day.
Reporters from several TV stations in Turkey and a national radio station came to the spot and covered this event.
