Gansu Province People's Court, a body of the CCP's totalitarian rule, is planning to put Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Cao Dong on trial. The first session is scheduled as follows:

Mr. Cao Dong met with European Parliament Vice President Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott on May 21, 2006 and exposed the persecution of Falun Gong to him. For this, the CCP is arranging for him to be tried on the following trumped up charges:

1. Illegally connecting with an international "anti-China force";
2. Illegally agreeing to be interviewed;
3. Illegally posting news on the Minghui website;
4. Illegally hiding and possessing Falun Gong booklets and discs.

The so-called trial is really nothing more than a farce.

Ever since Mr. Cao Dong was arrested on the day of his meeting with the European Parliament Vice President Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott, his parents, parents-in-law, and his later-released (from Beijing Women's Labor Camp) wife have not been allowed to visit him. Mr. Cao Dong has been detained since May 21, first in Beijing and later in the Gansu Province State Safety Bureau Detention Center in Lanzhou City.

In this long half year, knowing the terrors faced by other Falun Gong practitioners in China's jails and labor camps, we care not to imagine how Mr. Cao Dong has been tortured. Judging from the conversations between government employees and Mr. Cao Dong's family, we can tell that the CCP is trying to use all of its might to force Mr. Cao Dong to give in. If Mr. Cao gives in, the CCP can deny its bloody crime of persecuting Falun Gong in the international society. The evil officials have told Mr. Cao Dong's family many times that if Cao Dong would write a "regret letter," it would be easy to deal with the international society. They have forced Mr. Cao Dong's parents and parents-in-law to accept their video tapes and help them pressurize Cao Dong.

Mr. McMillan-Scott said to journalists, "The Chinese Ambassador told me that the reason Mr. Cao Dong was arrested was because he re-started Falun Gong activities. That is propaganda about Falun Gong, and it is very ridiculous, because Mr. Cao Dong was arrested immediately after meeting with me- the European Parliament Vice President."

For many years, Handan Forced Labor Camp has followed the CCP in its persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, especially those who have strong faith.

On August 23, policemen Zuo Tao and Zeng Yiwei forced practitioner Zhao Zhanzhong  to sign what's known as the Four Statements. Zhao rejected, so Zuo Tao and other policemen brutally beat him. Zhao was forced to stand for a long time, beaten hard on the head and face, and kicked all over his body. Later, the policemen also tortured him with electric batons and beat him with rubber sticks, and burned Master's photos in front of him.

Practitioner Guo Shehan was originally arrested and detained in the fourth group at the labor camp. Because he always yells "Falun Dafa is good", he was transferred to the "specially-managed group", where there is more intense torture. On the morning of September 6, the leader of the forced labor camp was there for an inspection, and Guo kept yelling, "Falun Dafa is good". Policemen Gao Jinli, Zuo Tao, Zeng Yiwei, Li Poyong and others thus took him to the "police club" on the first floor (where there are two empty rooms solely for the purpose of torturing Falun Gong practitioners) and beat him brutally for over an hour. Later four or five people carried him back to a bedroom on third floor. He was in bed for more than a month, and could not take care of himself. The forced labor camp assigned people to watch him and did not allow anyone to contact him.

Practitioner Yang Hailin was a worker in the Third Construction Company of Handan City.Because he persisted in practicing Falun Gong, evil police Gao Jinli, Zuo Tao, Zheng Yiwei and others beat him brutally with rubber sticks and electric batons for over an hour on October 12.

Practitioners Zhang Huaijun and Yang Guoqiang were from Guantao County and Dongguang County, Changzhou City, respectively. On October 18, police officers Gao Jinli and Zeng Yiwei beat them brutally to force them to stop practicing Falun Gong. They also ordered some prisoners to torture a practitioner from Raoyang County with "swallow flying" (a brutal torture, see demonstration on /emh/articles/2004/6/10/49058.html), and then the practitioner was brutally beaten, shocked with electric batons, and pressured to sign the Four Statements.

Practitioner Zhang Wenliang from Tangshan City is 61 years old. He was originally the commander of the Liaoning-based missile launching battalion. After he left the military, he was the CCP leader of the Tangshan City Food Factory. Because he insisted on cultivation and refused to be "transformed", he was tied to a cross by police Gao Jinli, Zuo Tao, Zheng Yiwei, Zhang Wenshan, Lin Tao and others, who are all in the "specially-managed group". The police stuck two electric batons from his neckline to his chest, and shocked the front of his body and armpits, and then shocked the inside of his legs and genitals. The skin of his entire body was burned. There was no spot left untouched.

Now the police and prisoners of the "specially-managed group" in Handan City Forced Labor Camp all use the first floor "police club" as a place to torture Falun Gong practitioners. Whoever persists in practicing Falun Gong and doesn't give in will be sent there and tortured. Many practitioners have experienced inhumane torture in this place.

According to concerned sources, Wuhan Falun Gong practitioners have been arrested and sent to brainwashing classes. They have been abused with the use of drugs, as those responsible poisoned the food and water the practitioners ate and drank. The drugs secretly put into the food are poisons that affect the nervous system.

Previously healthy practitioners have developed many symptoms as a result of this form of persecution. Symptoms range from dizziness, irregular heartbeat, unusually fast heart rate (resting heart rate of more than 100/minute), unusual physical responses, irregular mind/body coordination (for example, being mentally alert without restlessness, but yet with a heartbeat far above normal). After the drugging, practitioners' faces became swollen and covered with a red pox. Since March of 2006, the majority of practitioners released from Hubei Province jail were taken to the Jianghan District brainwashing classes. At least ten to twenty of them had similar experiences there and exhibited similar symptoms. When these practitioners asked the guards why they were experiencing these symptoms, the guards dodged their questions with answers such as: "You Falun Gong practitioners are too nervous," "After getting out of jail so soon, you are in bad physical shape," and "You caught a cold." They even answered with: "You don't have any evidence."

The food served in the mess hall at the brainwashing class was somewhat better than the food in jail, because within the jail, funds for the prisoners' living expenses for the most part had been confiscated by the police. Even in the terrible prison conditions, such symptoms never arose, yet they appeared when the detained practitioners were taken to the brainwashing class. The practitioners asked why, when they were sitting still and feeling mentally stable, their heart rates were still far above normal. The guards and the doctors replied that if the heart rate was 60-120 per minute then it was normal. The practitioners asked that if it was simply a cold they were experiencing, why they hadn't developed a fever. The guards and doctors replied that there are different types of colds, and other such sly replies. The poisoned food had no abnormal taste or color, and there weren't any intense reactions after eating it. Although it caused an unwell feeling, talking, washing, and other normal activities could still be carried out. Some people lost all awareness or became dazed right at the time of eating, and only afterwards could they recollect what happened. Some practitioners realized what was happening and subsequently refused to eat or drink, and as a result were taken from the center and imprisoned elsewhere.

At the brainwashing class, practitioners were detained separately in closed rooms and were not allowed to come and go. Food and water were delivered individually, making it easy to drug the food in transit. How could the imprisoned practitioners possibly find evidence? The brainwashing center staff were acting under orders from higher authorities to "transform" a certain quota of practitioners, and thus used drugs as a means to that end. On the topic of the use of drugs to persecute practitioners, the Clearwisdom website has previously reported similar events. In the Qiaokou District brainwashing class, when imprisoned practitioners asked why the food they were given had a strange chemical taste, the guards similarly avoided the questions. Perhaps these methods have now become even more covert. In Wuhan there are many such brainwashing classes that persecute practitioners.

Since July 20, 1999, led by Zhao Jinzhou, some police officers at Taihang Prison have implemented a "be consistent" policy and executed the policies of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. They used propaganda to instill CCP culture, broadcast videos attacking Falun Gong, posted a cartoon that slandered Falun Gong's founder, deceived the general public and forced practitioners to undergo brainwashing. They threatened and harassed prison doctors Mr. and Ms. Wang Yan, forcing them into hiding. They confiscated 8,000 yuan of the couple's personal money. In addition, they brutally beat and tortured Falun Gong practitioners who were detained in that facility.

Hebei Province Taihang Prison

Because some guards were blinded by personal interests, abiding by the CCP's policies regarding Falun Gong practitioners, these guards shamelessly implemented the orders to "ruin their reputation, bankrupt them economically and destroy them physically." They treated practitioners who believed in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" as enemies. They used many inhuman persecution methods and excruciatingly painful tortures on practitioners. Their torture methods included:

1. Using electric batons to shock female practitioners' mouths;
2. Brutal beatings: beatings with rubber clubs, slaps on the face, kicking, pulling hair, inciting the criminals to take turns beating the practitioners;
3. Dragging: pulling them by their hands and hair, dragging them down the stairs, dragging the practitioners along the floor;
4. Other tortures: standing; standing and facing a wall; standing under the burning sun in the summer and exposure to inclement winter weather; standing with head against a wall; standing with hands touching the floor; overtime labor; reducing the meal quantity
5. Depriving them of personal rights: forbidden to sleep, to go to the restroom, to wash and take a bath, to talk with other people; gagged with towels and denied family visits.
6. Handcuffed: handcuffing and being handcuffed behind the back; one hand up and one hand down on a chair or on a heating pipe;
7. Shackled and locked with a dog chain;
8. Restricted freedom of movement: locked in a small cell, dark room, and appointed female criminal to monitor around the clock;
9. Tied-up: Tied up on a bed board to keep one immobile;
10. Burned with cigarette butts to burn practitioners' necks; inserting cigarette butts into practitioners' noses;
11. Bar punishment: being handcuffed backward to the back of a chair, with both legs stretching straight forward while sitting on the ground. One bar is inserted between the hands. Someone then steps on the bar. They also use a stick to hit the feet during this torture.
12. Use of hallucinogens: wiping medicine into practitioners' nostrils
13. Prying the mouth open with a piece of metal. When practitioners went on a hunger strike to protest, the officials used metal hardware to pry their mouths open for force-feeding.
14. Mental abuse: Writing dirty words on Falun Gong practitioners' bodies, faces and clothes.
15. Financial persecution: They forbid family members to deliver things. Instead, practitioners had to buy their commodities from the prison canteen that charges extremely high prices for food and other necessities. Moreover, they confiscated practitioners' cash.
16. Deception: Fabricated writings, using lies and hypocrisy to "show their concern"; compiling fabricated news and stories, and deceiving practitioners and the general public with performances.
17. Tempting criminals to aid and abet: Using criminals to monitor, torture, threaten, brutally beat and force-feed practitioners. In return, they add or deduct points from these criminals' scores and adjust their terms.
18. Forced-feeding: When force-feeding, practitioners were tied up on the bed board. They slowed down the feeding and tortured practitioners for more than 40 hours.
19. Brainwashing: They force practitioners to view videos that attack Falun Gong. Asking them to write reports, discuss experiences, writes the four statements (dissociation statement, self-criticism statement, repentance statement, and guarantee statement).
20. Secret transfer: Transfer among prisons without informing family members. Psychologically isolate practitioners, making them feel helpless.
21. Using family relationships as a tactic: They invite practitioners' family members to visit and persuade them to write the four statements and give up cultivation to be a "kind person;" give up "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" and be a loyal CCP follower.

Since July 20, 1999, more than 70 Falun Gong practitioners have been detained in this facility and subjected to long-term persecution. This doesn't include those who were temporarily transferred or detained short-term. The guards tortured Zhou Yu to death. Ding Yan was secretly transferred to the Chengde Prison and died from being tortured. Liu Jinying and Dai Lili were persecuted to the point of mental collapse. Niu Minjie was disabled. Chen Yanyu had her face disfigured. In addition, Gong Fenglan, Zhang Lijun, Lang Qizhi, Liu Qiaozhen, Zhao Lingru, Lu Fengling, Zhang Lijun and others also suffered severe persecution. The following are some examples:

Liu Jinying, over 40 years old, was a former deputy head at the Laishui County Letter and Appeals Bureau in Hebei Province. Because she firmly believed in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," she was sentenced in August 2000 to five years in prison. On the evening of October 16, 2003, she was transferred from the Shijiazhuang No. 2 Prison to the Taihang Prison. That very evening she encountered inhumane treatment. The guards deprived her of sleep and tortured her with all kinds of methods. This lasted seven to eight days. Some people who came from the same hometown saw her suffering, so they wanted to deliver some daily commodities to her. The guards did not permit this. A female criminal monitored her and attempted to brainwash her.

Liu Jinying refused to accept brainwashing. The guards incited criminals to take turns to beat her. There was a criminal called Ma Li. She grabbed Ms. Liu's hair and hit her head against a wall more than 300 times. Another criminal called Zuo Maomao deliberately stepped on Liu Jinying's feet and ripped off three of her toenails. She sexually assaulted Liu Jinying and hit her until her body was black and blue all over. She scratched Ms. Liu's oral cavity raw. Ms. Liu's face was also bruised. These tortures lasted for more than half a year.

After seeing Ma Li and Zuo Maomao failing to change Liu Jinying's firm determination in Falun Gong cultivation, the guards called upon Fang Jihong, who resorted to unceasing, intense violence. They handcuffed Liu Jinying behind her back, shocked her with an electric batons and attempted to force her to write the four statements. When they failed, they transferred Liu Jinying to Shijiazhuang for further persecution. She was eventually sent back to Taihang Prison for further rounds of persecution.

An originally very healthy, kind person was persecuted so severely that she ended up mentally traumatized. The insiders knew that the reason for a criminal's violent acts are the guards' incitement. When I was beaten mercilessly once, guard Du Lijing said, "Kill her! It is on me!" Political head Zhu Xiaohong and team leader Liu Jing, who incited criminals to torture Liu Jinying, were the ones in charge. Later, when section head Li Yulong and deputy production team head Ge Shuguang planned to hold a brainwashing session, they tried to force Falun Gong practitioners to write the four statements. Zhu Xiaohong and others cooperated closely. Even when Liu Jinying was in a state of being mentally traumatized, they still did not let her go and continued the abuse day and night, beating and verbally abusing her as before. They continued to torture her by forcing her to stand, deprived her of sleep, and forbade her to go to the restroom or to talk with others. They incited a criminal named Cong Yaqin, who used to be a drug dealer and drug addict, to kick Liu Jinying. If Liu Jinying "reformed", they might all get a higher bonus. Therefore, they incited criminals to brutally attack the practitioners. Ge Shuguang praised Zuo Maomao's actions and recorded her "merit."

Another Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Dai Lili, was about 30 years old at the time, unmarried. After suffering cruel tortures, this young woman suffered a mental collapse and often took off all her clothes.

The guards tortured another practitioner Ms. Niu Minjie, a model training teacher from Shijiazhuang City, with excruciating methods because she refused to renounce the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." Being forced to wear a "dog chain" disabled her legs, and she could no longer stand up and walk. This is what is happening in the Taihang Prison, where the administration boasted, "Manage with virtue; Educate with law; Convince with rationality; Move with emotion."

On August 20, 2005, Zhang Lijun and other practitioners re-established their determination to uphold the good principles of Falun Gong and refusal to write the "four statements" or "reform." What would a kind person "reform" to? They wrote a "solemn declaration" and stated what they had written under the evil persecution that does not conform to Falun Gong's requirements are all invalid. On August 22, 2005, they were detained in small cells and monitored by criminals around the clock. They were again deprived of their human rights. At the beginning of September, after the visit of deputy section head Tan Lei and deputy section head Liu Xinke, they accelerated the persecution of Zhang Lijun and took turns torturing her.

A person is entitled to basic living necessities and conditions [food clothing, decent shelter, air and water]. A person needs to eat and to rest. However, this was not at all the case. Political head Yan Hongyu used to say fiercely, "All I want is to make you die and bully you to death!" Bonuses and promotion actually became the motivation on which the guards based their cruel, merciless and brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. There is a torture instrument room in the Taihang Prison that is especially used to torture Falun Gong practitioners.

In addition to such savage tortures, they also collaborate with Zhao Yuxia from Mancheng County to torture practitioners. On September14, 2002, several agents from the Mancheng Police Department arrested two practitioners who were destitute and homeless. They took them to Taihang Prison for torture and beating. One was named Liu Qiaozhen and another was named Wang Xiaofeng. Another practitioner named Zhao Lingru was also arrested and taken to the Taihang Prison for ruthless torture and then was sent back to Mancheng Detention Center. One insider said, "Zhao Lingru almost died at Taihang."

The above-mentioned incidents are just a few cases of brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by certain guards at the Taihang Prison in Hebei Province.

The female practitioners who were imprisoned at the Taihang Prison were transferred to Shijiazhuang Women's Prison, and the address is: Yongbi Village, Luquan City, Hebei Province. The police who were exposed on the Minghui/Clearwisdom website, including Ge Shuguang, Du Lijing, Liu Yuxia, and Zhang Jie, were also transferred to the Shijiazhuang Women's Prison to continue their brutality.
