Mr. Du Shiliang, a Falun Gong practitioner in his 50s, lived in Hailing City, Heilongjiang Province. At 9:00 p.m. on January 20, 2006, he died unexpectedly in Mudanjiang Prison.

On January 27, 2002, Mr. Du Shiliang and his wife were illegally arrested by the Political Security Section of the Hailing City Police Department. Mr. Du Shiliang was sentenced to six years of imprisonment and his wife was sentenced to three years. In September 2002, they were sent to Mudanjiang Prison. On January 13, 2006, Mr. Du's wife went to Mudanjiang Prison to visit him, and his health condition was normal. At 11:00 p.m. on January 20, 2006, she suddenly received a message saying that Mr. Du Shiliang had died at 9:00 p.m. on January 20, 2006. The detailed information is still under investigation. We also hope that someone can provide any relevant information.

Currently, Mudanjiang Prison in Heilongjiang Province tries to forcibly "transform" Falun Gong practitioners. They do not allow practitioners who refuse "transformation" to sleep, and they stab practitioners with needles to torture them without causing visible wounds. We hope that all Falun Gong practitioners who see this news will utilize all kinds of ways to intensively clarify the truth.

Ms. Liu Dan, 30, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province, and a graduate of Jiamusi University. After she was illegally arrested on October 24, 2005, she suffered all sorts of torture, became critically ill twice and had to be sent to the hospital for emergency rescue. All levels of the departments involved in persecuting Ms. Liu feared being held responsible for her situation. Instead, they sent her back to her family, where she was monitored in shifts by more than ten police officers 24-hours a day. On January 12, the police suddenly took Liu Dan to court for an illegal trial, and alleged on the following day that Liu Dan had been sentenced to four years of imprisonment, and would be sent to Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison for further persecution on January 16.

Because Liu Dan is very ill and emaciated, she is at still home, but is monitored by the police with a camera and an alarm device around the clock.

1. Five Days and Four Nights of Torture

On October 24, 2005, police officers from the Jixi City National Protection Unit and the Jiguan District Branch of the Jixi Security Department, including Jiao Yang, Zhang Wei, and Wang Weijun, arrested Ms. Liu Shulan, a Falun Gong practitioner who worked at the Technical Institute of the Jixi Coal Industry Factory. They also ransacked her home. Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Lichun and Ms. Liu Dan, who had gone home to visit family, happened to be at practitioner Liu Shulan's home. The three practitioners were sent to the Jiguan District Police Department for questioning. Liu Dan was interrogated by several police officers, and tortured continually for five days and four nights.

After she was arrested, Ms. Liu refused to answer questions at the police interrogation, so policeman Wang Weijun handcuffed her and kept her facing the wall for a long time, while snapping at her and insulting her with dirty words. At night, Wang hung Ms. Liu Dan's hands from a metal door and tied her feet. She had to remain in this painful position, bending her body and lowering her head.

Wang Weijun later demanded Ms. Liu's fingerprints, but she refused. Wang then ordered Ms. Liu to crawl under a chair, but she refused once again. This time, Wang Weijun kicked her down, and her head hit the ground. Wang Weijun folded Ms. Liu's head onto her legs, and put a chair on her back. Wang then sat on the chair from morning until noon.

When Zhang Wei, a policeman from the Jiguan District Police Department, saw Ms. Liu, he punched her on her temple and kicked her face and body with his leather shoes. On the afternoon of October 25, Zhang Wei tied a photo of Falun Gong's teacher under Ms. Liu's feet with a rubber band. Liu Dan, who has benefited so much from Falun Gong, could not bear to see the persecutors treating her teacher this way, when Zhang wasn't looking, Ms. Liu slipped the picture under her clothes and hid it against her back. Zhang asked a policewoman to body search Ms. Liu for the picture, but she failed to find it, so Zhang then attempted to search her. When Liu Dan refused, he ripped off two buttons from her coat. Zhang claimed that he would cover the ground with Falun Gong books except for a two-foot area (this is considered extremely disrespectful).

That night, when policewoman Jiao Yang found out that Ms. Liu had the picture, she insulted Liu Dan. In front of many male police officers, Jiao Yang lifted Ms. Liu's shirt, grabbed the skin on her stomach and demanded the picture. Then, Wang Weijun kicked her down to the ground, separated her legs, held her face to the ground and beat her. They didn't stop until Jiao Yang found the picture against Ms. Liu's back. Jiao Yang knew Liu Dan was not married, so she indecently said, "She is an unmarried girl."

On the afternoon of October 26, Liu Jiaxue, a policeman from the Jixi City Police Department who knew martial arts, grabbed Ms. Liu's arm and pressed her acupuncture point at the elbow joint, speeding up her heartbeat and almost making her lose conscience. The pain of having this pressure point pressed for even one second was excruciating, but Liu Jiaxue repeated it many times. Ms. Liu only shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" When Liu Jiaxue was tired and took a break, he shamelessly said, "I just love to hearing you shout 'Falun Dafa is good.'"

A friend of Liu Jiaxue, in his twenties, beat Ms. Liu Dan's hands with a leather belt. Then he beat her down to the ground, grabbed her hair to pull her up, and slammed her head against the wall. Ms. Liu was so weak by this time that she fell down many times. But the policeman continued pulling her up and beating her with a leather belt.

Because of the continuous beating, Ms. Liu's whole body became dark blue and swollen, her face had four injuries, her lips were injured and swollen, her hands had severe wounds, and much of her hair had been ripped out. When Liu Jiaxue and his friends cruelly tortured Liu Dan, another police officer, who could not bear to watch them treat a young girl so violently, walked away.

On the night of October 26, Liu Dan was already very weak after suffering two days of continual torture. However Wang Weijun still deprived her of sleep, and handcuffed both of her wrists behind her back to a heater pipe until 4:00 a.m. the next day.

2. Critically Ill Twice, Illegally Sentenced to Four Years of Imprisonment

On October 28, Ms. Liu Dan was sent to the Jixi City No. 2 Detention Center. She had a headache and stomachache, felt severely ill, and was showing symptoms of being close to death. The Jiguan District Sub-bureau sent staff to take Liu Dan to the city hospital for emergency rescue, where they did a CT on her head and ultrasound inspection on her abdomen. In the hospital, Ms. Liu had a feeding tube inserted. Several days later, she was sent back to the detention center.

On November 11, Liu Dan could not eat, and was again at death's door. She was sent to the city hospital for emergency rescue, where the doctor used a heart-monitoring instrument, and again put her on a feeding tube. On November 22, the Jixi City Police Bureau sentenced Liu Dan, who was still hospitalized, to three years of forced labor, and sent her with Chen Lichun to the Heilongjiang Province Drug Rehabilitation Center. Because Liu Dan had a gastric hemorrhage, she did not pass the health check, and was rejected by the Drug Rehabilitation Center. The Jiguan District Sub-bureau then placed her in the hospital of the Drug Rehabilitation Center.

The Drug Rehabilitation Center forcibly injected and force-fed Liu Dan. Upon seeing that she was near death, the Drug Rehabilitation Center requested the Jiguan District Sub-bureau to take Liu Dan back, but the Sub-bureau refused to pick her up, and pushed the responsibility onto the Hengshan District Sub-bureau, which is near her registered residence. Sun Mengshan, the deputy director general of the Hengshan District Sub-bureau (who actively persecutes Falun Gong practitioners, and has been exposed many times on the Minghui/Clearwisdom website) feared being held responsible, so he also refused to pick her up, and finally asked Liu Dan's family to pick her up.

On December 7, Liu Dan was taken home by her father, but she was home only for one night. On the following day, the Hengshan District Sub-bureau sent police to her home to monitor her around the clock. They ordered her parents to sign a guarantee. Liu Dan's mother runs a clinic at home, and the appearance of so many police severely affected her business. Liu Dan's father had no choice but to ask a relative to rent a room at Jiukeng in Hengshan District, and sent Liu Dan there. More than ten police then monitored Ms. Liu there 24 hours a day, restricting her personal freedom. Even Liu Dan's relatives were strictly questioned while visiting her.

On January 2, 2006, under the control of the Jixi City 610 Office, the Jiguan Sub-bureau again butted in, and arranged for police officers to monitor Ms. Liu 24 hours a day. In order to persecute Liu Dan during the time she could not be sent to the Drug Rehabilitation Center, the 610 Office collected many fabricated accusations. They prosecuted Liu Dan by using the Jiguan District Procuratorate on January 6, and prepared to illegally try Liu Dan and Liu Shulan on January 16.

On January 12, the police suddenly brought Liu Dan to court, and illegally tried her and Liu Shulan. In court, Liu Dan and Liu Shulan resisted the persecution, and denied all the fabricated charges. On January 13 (the following day), the sentences were delivered to them. Liu Dan was sentenced to four years' imprisonment, and Liu Shulan received eight years' imprisonment. It was decided to send them to the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison on January 16. From such quick prosecution to sentencing, it can be seen that it was a prearranged plot, and moreover the right to appeal was denied.

The perpetrators stopped at nothing to incriminate and sentence Liu Dan. Ms. Liu is a sensitive and sensible young woman, and she has never broken any law. But because she follows her belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," she has been detained and tortured. When the authorities failed to send her to a forced labor camp, they collected fabricated charges and sentenced her to several years in prison. Where is justice? Where is human nature?

I am an older woman who lives in the country. I am truthful and do not lie. I have been practicing Falun Gong for nearly nine years. I follow Teacher's requirements, continually correct myself, and treat others kindly in all matters. Through practicing, I have obtained a healthy body and an open mind. Throughout China, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) does not allow kind people to practice Falun Gong and has sent many practitioners to prisons or forced labor camps, extorted money from them, arrested them, searched their homes, and sentenced, detained, and tortured them. Several thousand people have been tortured to death.

Although I am very old, I am just one of many people being persecuted. In order to clarify to people around the world that "Falun Dafa is great" and expose the truth of how the CCP is persecuting practitioners, I would like to tell everyone what I saw and heard in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp as guards brutally persecuted female practitioners and those who remain steadfast in practicing Falun Gong despite being persecuted. The steadfast practitioners are resisting the vile persecution.

1. Inhuman Brutal Torture, Horrific Hooligan Acts

In the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, I often saw and heard guards torturing steadfast practitioners and using obscenities to insult female practitioners.

Female guard Zhang Qiurong often tortured practitioners. She also frequently found male guards to help her. They tied practitioner Ms. Chen in a spread-eagle fashion and tortured her. A guard pointed at Ms. Chen's private parts and said, "You are not even worth touching." Then he stepped on and kicked her insteps with his leather shoes, causing her feet to bleed.

Guards also tied practitioner Ms. Xin spread-eagled and punched her chest until her chest and breasts were covered in purple-black bruises. The guards also beat practitioner Ms. Lin with a wooden plank for over four hours.

The guards forced practitioners to stand against a wall for long periods of time and deprived them of sleep and use of the toilet. I also suffered this torture and was forced to stand until midnight. Female practitioners were barbarically force-fed. When one practitioner felt unwell and did not eat, the guards claimed she was on hunger strike. They held her down and force-fed her while they beat and cursed her every day for a week.

Guards feared that others would hear the practitioners' cries of pain during the brutal tortures, so they often broadcast very loud music to cover the sounds of their crimes. However, all practitioners who have suffered persecution in Masanjia know that when the dogs in the labor camp courtyard start barking, it means the guards are torturing practitioners again. There were also practitioners locked up in the "small cells" for extended periods of time. When they were let out, I saw that they could not walk, were unable to stand straight, and had to be supported by others. Seeing their condition grieved many people.

In Masanjia, if a practitioner said, "Falun Dafa is great," she would be tortured. Practitioners who did not do physical exercises were punished, and those who refused to wear prison uniforms were tortured. If practitioners spoke one word to each other (the guards called it "communicating in secret"), they would also be tortured. In conclusion, the guards act without reason as they unrestrainedly torture and persecute good people.

In Masanjia, especially on sensitive dates or during festivals, the guards wantonly and randomly search the clothing sent to practitioners by their relatives, and even carefully search practitioners' bodies. The guards search and touch female practitioners at will.

2. "Falun Dafa is Great" Resounded in Masanjia

It has been over six years since the CCP initiated the brutal persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. The practitioners have not been beaten down. They have instead become more and more steadfast, and more and more people have awakened and joined the Falun Gong practice.

The camp once held a convention for a thousand people. During the convention, a practitioner stood up and shouted "Falun Dafa is great!" The words, which represented the thinking of all Falun Gong practitioners, resounded through the meeting place and shocked the thousand people in attendance.

Another time, a practitioner ran into the courtyard and shouted from the bottom of her heart, "Falun Dafa is great!" Hearing her voice in that evil, dark den, practitioners were all very happy. At the same time, her heroism increased practitioners' determination and resolve to resist the persecution and steadfastly practice their beliefs.

One after another and group by group, steadfast practitioners straightened their backs and stepped out to clarify the truth to people about Falun Gong. Copy after copy, one after another, solemn declarations were handed over to the guards, put into letterboxes and delivered to everyday people.

When the guards in Masanjia hear "Falun Dafa is great" they react like they have just received an electric shock. When they see a solemn declaration, they are so frightened that they tear it off the wall immediately. 

In more than six years of brutal persecution, I have seen and heard many Falun Gong practitioners' righteous actions move and awaken many people, who then become practitioners. After everyday people see clearly the evil nature of the CCP, they withdraw from the CCP, the Chinese Communist Youth League, and the Young Vanguard League. These people have chosen a bright and wonderful future. The awakened people recognize the true nature of the CCP, no longer believe its fabricated propaganda, understand practitioners, and even support them.

I hereby tell those guards who are still persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, "You should wake up and leave a way out for yourself. Earnestly reconsider what you have done to these people who do not fight back when they are beaten or cursed at. You should listen to what they say and notice how they steadfastly practice Falun Gong and kindly advise others. Then, leave Masanjia to see and hear the Chinese people's just voices and the recognition given to Falun Gong practitioners. Look on the Internet and you will see how people around the world revere and support Falun Gong practitioners who suffer persecution in labor camps. Stop persecuting Falun Gong!"

After reading the article in Issue 206 of the Minghui Weekly Journal, "Authorities Continue to Sexually Assault Practitioners, Yet the Incidents are Rarely Exposed," I exchanged ideas with my mother and fellow practitioners. With their encouragement, I was able to overcome my human notions and barriers. I enlightened to the understanding that it was necessary to write about my experience of being persecuted and to expose the evil. Exposing the evil is also safeguarding Falun Gong.

During the Mid-Autumn Festival of 2001 I unfurled a banner at Tiananmen Square. Several police officers appeared immediately and two of them twisted my arms behind my back and dragged me into a police van. I was sent to the Qianmen Police Station and locked away in a large jail cell. Many other practitioners from different provinces were also detained there. Sometime after our arrival, we were sent to a huge courtyard where it was so dark that we could not clearly see where the yard was. Several police officers tried to force us to register our names and be photographed. I refused to cooperate with them. Four or five of them held me down and pressed my head and four limbs to the ground as they took a photo of me against my will. They then took all of the female practitioners to a room where several policewomen asked us to take off our tops and trousers, and they searched our bodies. They said to us hypocritically, "We are looking out for you. If the other police did this search they would beat you. If you became injured they would insist it had happened before you arrived here." They then attempted to force us to tell them our names and addresses. None of us did. We were then taken away in a police car. Another female practitioner and I were forced into the trunk of the police car, where we had to squat down together. We almost suffocated from the strong smell of gasoline as we rode all crammed together in the small trunk.

At about 10:00 p.m. we arrived at the Mentougou Police Station. The police handcuffed me to a chair and started interrogating me. They first tried to manipulate me. After they failed to get what they wanted, they changed their attitudes. An obese policeman who used swear words came in and said, "Get her to cooperate more quickly! Why waste time on useless words with her? The other one has already confessed and was released." He became very impatient when seeing that I was not affected by his words. He blew cigarette smoke in my face causing my eyes to tear profusely. He instructed a young policeman to cut my hair haphazardly with a pair of scissors, saying this was my "tonsure" ceremony. After all methods had failed on me, the obese policeman told the young policeman to hang me up with my hands cuffed behind my back. The young policeman was unable to hang me up, so they used a stick to do so, with one end of the stick inserted in my handcuff and the other end inserted into a closet. Both my feet were lifted above the floor. My arms felt as if they were being torn from my body and it was extremely painful. The handcuffs cut deeply into my flesh with unbearable pain. They continued to tell me that "If you tell us your name and address, we will release you immediately without notifying your family or local police." When I could no longer tolerate the torture I told them what they wanted to hear. I thought they would now release me, but I was again handcuffed to the chair. I asked them, "Didn't you promise to release me as long as I told you my name and address?" They said, "Do you really think you can believe our words?" I knew I had been tricked. It was already about 1:00 or 2:00 a.m. and they were tired from torturing me. So they handcuffed the other practitioner and I together in the same room and had two policemen watch us.

The next day they couldn't locate me in their computer data network because I had not told them the name I used on my ID card. They started interrogating me again. A policeman who was in his forties asked me, "Are you married?" Then he said to himself, "One glimpse of her can tell that she is still a virgin." I asked, "How can this have anything to do with whether or not I tell you my name and address?" No sooner had I said this when several policemen started laughing viciously. The policeman in his forties said, "You look the same age as my daughter. Tell us right now, otherwise you'll surely feel regret after you have a taste of that." All the police officers in the room started laughing loudly after he said this.

A short time later, a man in a white uniform, probably kitchen staff, came into the room. Upon seeing me, the man laughed in a lewd way and said, "Oh, here comes another one!" I felt instinctively that they had tortured many female practitioners. The policeman in his 40s said to the man in the white uniform, " Soon I will let you have her for an hour." All the men in the room laughed lewdly after this remark was made. I suddenly realized how they would treat me next.

After talking with the man in the white uniform, the policeman gave him some white pills. The man asked twice for more of them. I knew the pills must be bad stuff. I would not let the evil torture me and ruin my life, so I decided to run away. I told them I needed to use the restroom and when they refused to allow this, I started to walk out. Seeing that I was determined, two of them followed me to the restroom. When I walked out of the restroom, I realized that the street was just outside the gate. I thought that as long as I could run out of the gate, I would be on the street and could shout for help. At that time, one of the policemen went to check with the man in uniform and the other one also lowered his guard because I was handcuffed. I ran toward the gate, but only made a few steps before they caught me and pushed me to the ground. Four or five of them began kicking and beating me. The young policeman who almost lost me got angry and wanted to torture me, yet he was stopped by the policeman in his 40s who scolded him for his negligence. They pulled down my sleeves and put the handcuffs on again over the cloth, telling me that no one would know even if they did kill me. They also told me that no practitioners could bear the torture for more than fifteen minutes.

Two of them tied a rope to my handcuffs and then used the rope to hang me up in the air in a garage. They also continuously kept pushing my head down. The weight of my whole body fell on my wrists and I felt agonizing pain. I soon realized why they had pulled my sleeves down before handcuffing me - this way the handcuffs did not leave noticeable scars. They sealed my mouth so I could not make any noise. After I could not bear the torture any longer, I told them my address. After that, they took me down and sent me back to the detention center. After arrival there, I met the practitioners who had been detained in Qianmen police sub-station and saw that all of them had been tortured. Later they sent me back to my hometown and sentenced me to two years of forced labor. In the forced labor camp, I worried very much about the other practitioners detained in Mentougou Police Station. I learned that the specific torture they used on me could lead to permanent injury of one's hands. The torture caused my hands to swell severely and I could not feel my hands for a long time afterward. I also could not move my neck, and the tearing of my eyes was at times quite profuse. After practicing the exercises for an extended period of time however, my symptoms disappeared.

In September 2005, police officers from the Yishui County Police Department and the 610 Office tried to arrest Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yan Wencheng, but their attempt failed. They retaliated and arrested Mr. Yan's daughter and nephews instead. They tortured Mr. Yan's 17-year-old daughter and illegally sentenced her to one year of forced labor for refusing to reveal her father's whereabouts. Mr. Yan's wife left home to avoid persecution. Her current whereabouts are unknown. His youngest son was forced to quit school, and his life is very difficult.

On September 4, 2005, Sun Jianqin, secretary of the Yishui County Political and Judiciary Committee led more than 20 officers from the Yishui County 610 Office, the Yishui County Police Department, the National Security Group, the Chengjiao Police Department and the Yishui Town Comprehensive Administration Committee to arrest Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yan Wencheng. They went to Wujiawa Village and tried to arrest him. The perpetrators climbed over the wall into his yard. They pried the lock with a metal bar and barged into the home. They went through everything and confiscated a computer, a printer and a recorder. They also took a VCD player and 30,000 yuan in cash. Mr. Yan's family shouted, "Burglars! Burglars!" The neighbors condemned the police. Mr. Yan was able to leave his home safely without being arrested.

Li Jianping and others from the National Security Group could not find him. On September 16, they searched the homes of Mr. Yan's brother and his daughter's mother-in-law. They arrested both of his daughters and demanded that they disclose their father's whereabouts. They also took Mr. Yan's nephews in an attempt to intimidate Mr. Yan into cooperating with them. They claimed, "We'll either get him in person or get his body!"

Mr. Yan's older daughter who was breastfeeding and his younger nephew were released "awaiting further interrogation." His older nephew was held for 30 days. The police said they would not release him until they arrested Mr. Yan. Mr. Yan's younger daughter is 17 years old. She was tortured but refused to say anything. She was sent to Jinan Women's Forced Labor Camp for one year.

Mr. Yan's wife was threatened with arrest, so she left home and her current whereabouts are unknown. Mr. Yan's young son was forced to quit school. He has no source of income.

Below is a letter that Mr. Yan wrote to his compatriots at Wujiawa Village. He clarified the truth and condemns the police.

A public letter by Mr. Yan Wencheng to his compatriots at Wujiawa Village

Dear Fellow Villagers:

Greetings! I am Yan Wencheng. I love Wujiawa Village, and all the more I love my fellow villagers whom I have known all my life. I really hope all of you are healthy, have a happy family and a bright future. Please listen to my heartfelt words.

All of you know what kind of person I was before. After I started practicing Falun Gong in 1998, however, I learned how to be a good person, and I started to think of others. For instance, I hired a forklift to remove the mud from the Front Street and laid down sand instead. Teachers from Wubaochuan said they were going to praise me. I said, "That's not necessary, because Falun Gong practitioners don't pursue reputation." Zhang Yongxiang broke his leg and couldn't afford medical treatment, and I paid his 4,060 yuan hospital bill for him. When my son-in-law withdrew money, the bank mistakenly recorded the outgoing 1,800 yuan by writing it as a deposit of 1,800 yuan. I asked him to return the money, and people at the credit union were very grateful. I always helped those in need. If I see a rock lying on the road, I will stop my car and remove it. I never expected people to return my help, because my Teacher tells us to be a completely good person.

After I started practicing Falun Gong, I received blessings. All of my strange illnesses disappeared without a trace, and my whole family has never taken a single pill in the past seven years. I feel healthy and comfortable, my family is happy, and my business is doing well. How can I not persist in practicing Falun Gong?

On March 22, 1998, my wife and I went to get a batch of merchandise. A woman riding a bicycle suddenly appeared in front of my car. To avoid hitting her, I pulled my car over but accidentally fell into a ditch about 6 feet deep. My wife and I didn't have a scratch, and neither did my car.

The locals told me that a woman on a bike died there six years ago on March 24, after which many accidents took place. Usually men get injured and women die. They said we must have done some extraordinarily good things in our previous life, which is what allowed my wife and me to survive unscathed. We knew that Teacher gave us a second life because we practice Falun Gong.

Falun Gong teaches people to follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, to speak true words, do honest things and act with integrity, to be compassionate and forgive others' faults. Falun Gong has brought countless benefits to our country and our people, and has not done an ounce of harm. Why is Falun Gong persecuted so?

The Communist Party has exhausted its means to destroy traditional Chinese culture, conscience and upright beliefs in order to maintain its evil-cult rule. The wicked Party has a philosophy of struggle. Its struggles against heaven have resulted in natural and manmade disasters, its struggles against the earth have resulted in destruction of the environment, its struggles against people have resulted in twisted mentalities. Lies, violence and brutality are the soul of the Party, and naturally the spread of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance has restrained the spread of lies, violence and brutality. The evil has never been able to suppress the righteous. Have you heard about the outcome of the persecution of Christians by Roman Emperor Nero? Three plagues swept through the empire and left countless people dead, which contributed to the collapse of the Roman Empire. Jiang Zemin is similar to Nero, and plague is right in front of us. Avian flu has broken out in Xujiahu, Beizhangzhuang and Gaozhuang. What will you choose?

In order to help you and your family stay safe and receive a bright future, I'm risking persecution by clarifying the truth, because I want you to know and be saved.

Maybe some people cannot accept the truth or are offended by it, which is why someone provided so-called evidence against me to the police. In fact, I have never violated the law. The constitution states Chinese citizens have freedom of belief and freedom to appeal. Article 35 of the Constitution of China states, "Citizens of the People's Republic of China enjoy freedom of speech, of the press, of assembly, of association, of procession and of demonstration." Everything I did falls within the confines of the constitution, so how did I break any law?

Allowing someone to speak under unjust circumstances is a basic human right. I printed Falun Gong materials to help people learn the truth, to expose the lies and to rescue people. Should we only allow the wicked Party to spread lies and slander through its propaganda machine and not allow the suppressed people to speak the truth?

Below is my experience of the persecution.

During the past several years, I was held at the Fengjiazhuang Brainwashing Center for 36 days. I was also held at the Songfeng Administration District, the Wujiawa Town Government and the Wujiawa Village Party Office for a total of 13 days. Li Hongwei took 600 yuan from me, and the police extorted a total of 33,208 yuan from me.

At 8:30 a.m. on September 3, 2005, village security head Wang Hongliang led four officials from the town Comprehensive Administration Office, including Hou Zhaogang, and came to my home. Hou Zhaogang tore a calendar with the words "Falun Dafa" on it from the wall. Then three officials made phone calls to other officials. Nearly 30 officials including Sun Jianqin, secretary of the Linyi City Political and Judiciary Committee, Chen, deputy head of the police department, Niu Yong from the Wujiawa Party Office, Li Jianping and Zhang Qiguo from the National Security Group and Wang Lei from the Chengjiao Police Department then arrived at my home in about eight cars and several motorcycles. They broke into my home, led by Wang Hongliang from Wujiawa.

This was a pre-meditated arrest. Dozens of officials were inside my home. I had no choice but to leave. They broke the lock with a metal bar and turned everything upside-down, both upstairs and downstairs. They took 30,000 yuan in cash, one computer, two videotape recorders, two boxes of A4 paper, and one batch of truth clarification materials.

As they failed to arrest me, they took my two daughters and two nephews to intimidate me. They also claimed that they would either get me in person or get my body. Only the Communist Party is capable of such extortion, abduction and intimidation.

My older daughter who was breastfeeding and my younger nephew were released. My older nephew was detained for thirty days and the police said they would not release him until my family handed me over to them. My brother became angry with my family for not surrendering me to the police. My younger daughter is 17 years-old. She refused to provide any information, even after being tortured. She was held for 45 days and then sent to the Jinan Women's Forced Labor Camp to be held for one year.

These agents then tried to arrest my wife, who left home. Her current whereabouts are unknown. My younger son was forced to quit school and does not have any income. Our brick factory was forced to stop production, and our recycling center was forced to close. The Industry and Commerce Bureau and the Tax Bureau fined me illegally. The officials have left, and are traveling with the 30,000 yuan they stole from me.

My compatriots, Falun Gong is spreading widely to offer people salvation. Falun Gong practitioners have used their blood, tears and lives to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. The Falun Gong practitioners are doing what they should as people who follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. They are being responsible to the world's people and are not participating in worldly politics. They are undoing the damage done to people around the world whose lives had been affected by the slander and lies of the Chinese Communist Party. They are clarifying the truth and rescuing the world's people.

The Falun Dafa Association published an announcement in October 2005, which states, "Heavens' destruction of the CCP is a historical inevitability. Gods must punish those criminals who have sinned against Falun Gong. Those who refuse to do the right thing and instead continue to follow Jiang's scoundrel regime's persecution policies will be severely punished as perpetrators of unforgivable crimes." Awaken! Now! If you or your family have committed crimes against Falun Gong, you must stop immediately, start doing good, learn the truth and embrace a bright future!

Fellow villagers: please maintain a clear head and never assist the perpetrators under any circumstance. Never participate in the persecution of Falun Gong. Falun Gong practitioners have done no wrong by believing in Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance! Treat Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners with kindness and you shall be blessed.

On the evening of December 30, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Cao Yuguo from Rushan City, Shandong Province, was arrested while driving his three-wheeled taxi. Mr. Cao is self-employed. Police from the First Division of Rushan City Department ransacked his home and detained him in the Jinling Development District Police Station.

He was sentenced to four and a half years in prison in October 2000 and was inhumanly tortured in the Huaibei Prison located in Weifang City, Shandong Province. He just returned home in May 2005. His wife, who is also a practitioner, was sent to a forced labor camp for three years in 2001. During that time, their teenage son had to live with his grandparent. They had no income, and in addition were forced to pay more than 10,000 yuan in extortion to the local police and officials. Consequently the family lived a very difficult life. Mr. Cao Yuguo's parents both died from the huge mental and financial pressures of the persecution. The prison administration did not even allow Mr. Cao to see his mother before she died.

We hereby call on everyone with a sense justice to speak out for the release of innocent Falun Gong practitioners, including Mr. Cao Yuguo. Please help us resist and end this evil persecution.

On January 11, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Ma Xiaohua was arrested by police officer Dong Shaolong from the Fendou Station in Jiamusi City. Ms. Ma had a heart attack in the station and lay on the icy cold floor twitching painfully. Despite this, Officer Dong Shaolong still sent her to the Jiamusi City Detention Center, but the center refused to accept her due to her heart condition and high blood pressure. Finally the police had to send Ms. Ma Xiaohua home.

1. [Chenzhou City, Hunan Province] Mr. Luo Xinqiu, and His Wife Peng Jianmei Arrested and Sentenced

On September 14, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Luo Xinqiu and his wife Peng Jianmei from Heyieping Township, Suxian District, Chenzhou City were arrested by police officers and government officials of Xifengdu Town, Suxian District. Mr. Luo was brutally beaten by State Security Deputy Head Chen Shimin (male), because Mr. Luo wouldn't sign the notes of the interrogation. Then, Chen handcuffed Mr. Luo and asked policeman Lei from Matouling Station to force his signature and fingerprints onto the paper. Later, Mr. Luo was sentenced to eighteen months of forced labor, though he had already been sentenced to forced labor twice. Mr. Luo was detained at the Xinkaipu Labor Camp located in Changsha City and had severe illness symptoms. On December 25, 2005, Mr. Luo was released and sent home from the labor camp.

In late 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Peng Jianmei was sentenced three and a half years in prison. She is still detained at the First Detention Center of Chenzhou City.

2. [Chenzhou City, Hunan Province] Mrs. Wang Zhifang from Zhushan Township Sentenced to Eighteen Months of Forced Labor

Falun Gong practitioner Mrs. Wang Zhifang, 63, is a resident in the Huxing group of Dama Village, Zhushan Township, Anren County, in Chenzhou City. Mrs. Wang suffered from high blood pressure, dizziness and other conditions before practicing Falun Gong. Her body became healthy after practicing Falun Gong. Her husband Mr. Hou Lixin reported the Dama Village CCP Secretary Hou Niuzai (male) for corruption, such as using public funds for personal use, accepting bribes, and beating villagers. Hou Niuzai has actively bullied Mr. Hou Lixin's family ever since. On April 23, 2005, Hou Niuzi colluded with state security agent Chen Yunqing to arrest Mrs. Wang and detained her at the Detention Center of Anren County for the last two months. Police officer Chen Yunqing gave false information as "evidence" and had her sentenced to eighteen months at the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp located in Zhuzhou City.

On November 25, 2005, Mrs. Wang was released.

3. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] At 9 a.m. of January 20, 2006, Zhongshan District Court in Dalian City Plans to Put Falun Gong Practitioner Ma Xueqing on Trial

4. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Li Min and His Wife from Hulan District Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Min from Hulan District, Harbin City is an employee of the District Finance Department. In March 2005, Mr. Li was arrested by the deputy head Jiang Jimin (male) of Hulan District Police Department and other policemen, and was taken from his work place. Mr. Li's wife Du Xiuzhen was arrested at home at the same time. Mr. Li and his wife were detained in the Brainwashing Center of Wuchang City and Detention Center of Harbin City. During detention, Mr. Li and his wife were both tortured. Mr. Li and his wife were recently both sentenced to eight years in prison by the Hulan District Court.

5. [Dujiang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Huang Shaojun and Two Other Practitioners Arrested

On the night of October 4, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Huang Shaojun, Ms. Luo Tianqun, and Ms. Cai Guifang from Guilin Village, Xujia Township, Dujiangyan City were arrested by police when posting Falun Gong truth clarifying materials. They are being detained at the Detention Center of Dujiangyan City, and no family members are allowed to visit.

There was also another female practitioner (name unknown) that was arrested, and her home was ransacked. Ms. Wang has been released, but the other female practitioner's whereabouts are unclear.

8. [Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province] Police Again Arrest Falun Gong Practitioners Without Reason

On January 18, 2006, police from Shuangyashan City began arresting practitioners on a large scale before the Chinese New Year. A week ago, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhao Juan and Ms. Wang Xiu were arrested. On January 18, policemen arrested five Falun Gong practitioners (names currently unknown) in one day. Ms. Hao Airong's house was ransacked three times in one day.

9. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Yumei Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

On January 6, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Yumei was sentenced to three years by the Sa District Court of Daqing. On January 10, the Detention Center of Daqing City informed Ms. Sun's family of the sentence. Ms. Sun's family decided to appeal on the behalf of Ms. Sun and asked for the sentencing statement from the Sa District Court several times, but their requests were denied.

10. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Meizhen Arrested When Passing Out Truth Clarifying Materials

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Meizhen, 63, from Shenyang City, is a retired employee of the City Heating Company. In August 2001, she was sentenced to two years of forced labor for exposing the persecution and clarifying the truth. On November 22, 2005, Ms. Liu was arrested by patrolling security when passing out truth clarifying materials on Jixiang Street, Dadong District, in Shenyang City. Ms. Liu is now detained at the Detention Center of Shenyang City.

11. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] More Information about Mr. Zhang Shengjie's Arrest

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Shengjie, 56, is from Harbin City. At about 8:00 a.m. on November 1, 2005, national security agents and policemen from the Daowai District Department and Dafangli Station went to Mr. Zhang Shengjie's house to arrest him and take him to the Daowai District Detention Center. Mr. Zhang was brutally beaten and then sentenced to forced labor. Mr. Zhang was locked in the First Ward of the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City. He was later transferred to the Fourth Ward.

12. [Xinjian County, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Ge Donglin and Ms. Yuan Guoxiang Arrested and Their Home Ransacked

On December 23, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Ge Donglin was arrested by policemen from Xinjian County when Mr. Ge was riding his motorcycle. Police officers took Falun Gong materials from Mr. Ge's motorcycle and arrested his wife, who is not a practitioner. Their two children were left without care.

On December 28, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yuan Guoxiang was arrested, and her house was ransacked.

13. [Beijing City] Ms. Wu Junying Arrested

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wu Junying is a resident in the Dawangzhuang Village, Wudian Town, Daxing District, in Beijing. At 10:00 a.m. on January 17, 2006, Ms. Wu was arrested at home by Daxing District Police Department, national security agents, and local police, and they were sent to the Police Department of Daxing District. The police searched her and took a laptop computer and Falun Gong materials from her house.
