I am a Falun Gong practitioner from Shandong Province. Because of my persistent belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" I have been illegally imprisoned in the Shandong Province No. 1 Women's Labor Camp (Jiangshuiquan Forced Labor Camp in Jinan City) and seriously tortured by the guards.

In the beginning, I was forced to sit on a small stool. Because I still refused to give up my belief, I was forced stand for a long time, from 5:40 in the morning until midnight, and sometimes until 1 a.m. or 3 a.m. I was not allowed to brush my teeth, eat, or even drink water. Therefore, I started a hunger strike. After one month of standing, my body was very weak. The guards started to force-feed me.

The long-term torture and violent force-feedings seriously harmed my trachea and lungs. I was constantly coughing up dense phlegm. In order to persecute me more, the guards forbid me to empty my toilet basin, which made the smell unbearable. They also forbid me to use tissues or even to spit out the phlegm. When they saw that I was almost choking by my own phlegm, they hid outside of the door and laughed at me.

The guards tried to force me to watch the videos defaming Falun Gong. After my refusal, they tied me to a death bed for eight days while I was on the verge of death. Because of the force-feedings, deterioration of my body, and the dense phlegm, I almost suffocated to death. In such a condition, they still tightly stretched my wrists, which prevented blood circulation. At the same time, they forbid me to urinate, which caused extreme pain. Group head Sun said cruelly to me, "This method is from Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. It is very effective on stubborn Falun Gong practitioners."

Guard Niu Xuelian and group head Sun threatened me to prevent me from screaming. Two perpetrators berated me in numerous ways.

In order to protest the persecution, I went on a hunger strike for seven months.

As soon as I arrived in the fifth group, Wang Suzhen hit my head with his fist, said angrily, "I really want to kick you to death," and threw all my belongings out the door, including my clothing, bedcover, toothbrush, and basin. It was in the summer and very hot. Wang Suzhen imprisoned several fellow practitioners and me in a small confined compartment. We were not allowed to wash our faces, brush our teeth, or change clothes. We were slapped if we talked. The dead skin of my emaciated body peeled off layer by layer.

During a force-feeding session, Wang Suzhen directed a group of death-row prisoners to tightly close my mouth and shove the feeding tube into my nose. I almost choked and was struggling to breathe. Suddenly, I found that I escaped from their clutches and took a breath with a loud shout. Then I noticed that blood trickled down the side of my face. In the hands of guard Wang Suzhen, there was not only a large clump of my hair, but also a large piece of skin from my head. Even a couple months later there was a large bald spot on my head.

Claiming that it was for a physical exam, labor camp authorities extorted 6000 yuan from my family.

Since July 20, 1999, the methods to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in the Shandong Province No. 1 Women's Forced Labor Camp have been brutal and cruel. The evilness of Chinese Communist Party can not be covered up. Several methods have been disclosed by witnesses or victims including, electric shocking, beating, force-feeding, long term hanging-up, burning with mosquito incense, hair pulling, face slapping, and long term slave labor. Some other torture methods by guards are extremely vicious and beyond the description of words. Falun Gong practitioners are deprived of their freedom and suffer from terrible beatings, humiliation, torture and torment.

 In order to compel Falun Gong practitioners to give up their faith, the Tianjin Women's Prison used all kinds of cruel torture methods against them. One of the methods they used was to force Falun Gong practitioners to sit motionless on a small stool for 15 to 16 hours nonstop each day.

The prison made use of the most notorious prisoners there to devise all kinds of ways to torture Falun Gong practitioners. These criminals were also utilized to closely watch over the practitioners. The torture method was called "One stare and three straights." This meant that while the practitioners sat on the tiny plastic stools, they had to keep their necks, backs and legs straight and remain motionless. Their eyes had to keep staring straight ahead and not move in any other direction. The requirement was for them to be motionless and straight, and to maintain this position for 15 straight hours. If the criminals watching over them were not pleased with them, the torture would be extended by six hours.

The plastic stools were small, hard and waterproof. After sitting on them for extended periods of time, blisters started to fester on the practitioners' thighs and buttocks. In the areas where the blisters had burst, it was extremely painful. The skin around the buttocks area was festering with blisters formed on new skin after the old skin had been rubbed off.

When a person is forced to sit like a statue for so long, it takes a terrible physical and mental toll. All of the Falun Gong practitioners who experienced this torture had scars on their buttocks. There was one practitioner who went through this torture for as long as 6 months. She has now lost all feeling in her legs and needs people's help just to walk around. She has also nearly gone blind.

During the 15 to 16 hours of daily torture, the practitioners are only allowed to eat so-called "repentance meals." Such meals included only a plain bun and 2 slices of salted vegetable. Sometimes the salted vegetable was not given, depending on the mood of the criminal watching over the practitioners. When having meals, practitioners had to keep the same position and were given only 3 minutes to eat, often less time than that. If they did not finish their food in time, it was snatched away. When sleeping at night, practitioners also had to remain motionless and could not move of their own free will. They were also monitored when they went to the washroom. The guards and inmates frequently made excuses to not allow Falun Gong practitioners to use the washroom. They forbade practitioners to bathe and wash their clothing. The practitioners were only allowed 10 minutes to relieve themselves in the bathroom, and if they could not do so within that time, they would be stopped. Because the practitioners were not allowed to drink enough water or eat enough vegetables for long periods of time, they often had trouble relieving themselves, so this time limit became another form of abuse against them.

The criminals who were handpicked by the guards gave reports to them every day, and they wrote journals. Moreover, if there was nothing to write about, they made things up. Even one look between the practitioners would be documented in the reports, so that the criminals could provide so-called "proof of initiative" to show the guards. The prison guards made use of the criminals to carry out the physical abuse and torture of the practitioners in attempts to turn them against Falun Gong. However, it was to no avail.

The guards also instigated the criminals to frequently verbally abuse the practitioners. The practitioners were not allowed to rest after returning from forced labor and were forced to undergo brainwashing. If a practitioner did not cooperate, then all the criminals were not allowed to rest for the whole night. Additionally, the criminals were required to perform forced labor the next day. This was done to create hostility among the inmates towards practitioners, and they often took their frustration out on the Falun Gong practitioners. The criminals who attacked the practitioners with the most fervor were rewarded by the guards.

 Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jiang Tao from Changchun City, Jilin Province, was arrested in 2001 and sentenced to 12 years in prison. Since then he has been routinely tortured in Jilin Province Prison.

Mr. Jiang is 30 years old, a grinder employed by the Steering Factory under the Changchun City First Automobile Group Company. During the summer of 1996, Mr. Jiang was sick with nephritis. He tried different methods to cure it, but nothing worked. His schoolmate later introduced him to Falun Gong, and his nephritis disappeared. Mr. Jiang doesn't smoke, drink, or play card games but works hard and always gets good comments from his boss and colleagues.

After the persecution of Falun Gong started in July 1999, Mr. Jiang went to Beijing to clarify the truth. The police arrested him and took him back to be detained for 15 days in Daguang Detention Center in Changchun City. He was transferred to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp and forced to sleep on the concrete floor for three days. Then he was transferred again to the Balipu Detention Center. After that he was detained for more than 40 days in the Weizigou Drug Rehabilitation Center.

The police always harassed Mr. Jiang at his home and his work place, and they even knocked on his door at midnight because he wouldn't stop practicing Falun Gong. His mother, who has heart disease, was so frightened that Mr. Jiang was forced to become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested at home.

In 2001, Mr. Jiang was arrested in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. On August 2, 2001, he was detained for two years in Tiebei Detention Center in Changchun City. During that time, he was subjected to many different tortures, such as being handcuffed and shackled for 24 hours.

Both Mr. Jiang Tao's parents were unemployed and lived a very poor life, but they still saved one to two hundred yuan for Mr. Jiang Tao each month. On November 16, 2001, his parents deposited 200 yuan for him in the detention center account, but he never received it.

On December 10, 2002, Mr. Jiang was sentenced to 12 years in prison. On July 8, 2003, he was locked in Jilin Province Prison, but his family still hasn't received a sentencing statement. Mr. Jiang has been under severe monitoring ever since.

Jilin Province Prison allows only two visits per month, 20 minutes per visit. There is plate glass between the prisoner and his visitors, and they have to use telephones to communicate. The prison guards monitor the conversations, and they sometimes interrupt the visitations. Family members are not allowed to send any daily necessities. They can only deposit money. Ordinary products sold at the prison are extremely expensive.

 In 1999 Jiang's regime started its persecution against Falun Gong. All practitioners nationwide have suffered on a large scale. In Qinghe Town, there are many cases in which practitioners have been arrested, and the police extorted money from them and ransacked their homes. Here are some examples:

1. On December 16, 2002, the former chief of police of the Qinghe Local Police Station, Dong Benjun, went to Xiagang Village, and illegally arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Cui Weidong. They searched his house, and confiscated his personal property. After that, they took Mr. Cui to the Police Station and brutally tortured him. The police stamped "Falun Dafa is Good" on his face and head, and laughed, ridiculed him, and swore at him. Afterwards, they sentenced him to a jail term, and imprisoned him in the strict discipline group in Jiangbei Prison in Jilin Province. Mr. Cui was tortured so severely that he got tuberculosis, and was in critical condition. His family members tried every means to get him out of prison and have him put on medical probation, but the Jiangbei Prison still would not release him. Consequently, a fine young man eventually lost his life.

Because Mr. Cui was brutally tortured, his body was full of cuts and bruises. Jiangbei Prison dared not release him, as they did not want their brutal conduct disclosed. Mr. Cui's crippled parents were bedridden and were unable to do anything but think about their son every day and cry.

2. Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Luo Xizhen is a kind hearted person from Renao Village, Qinghe Town. She used to suffer from urethritis, gynecological problems with endless bleeding, lumbago, and a pain in her leg. After practicing Falun Gong, all the illnesses went away. Hence, she tells everybody, "Falun Dafa is Great."

After the persecution started in 1999, Ms. Luo wanted to speak out for Falun Gong. She went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong, but two policemen arrested her and took her back to her village. She was detained in the Ji An Detention Center for over a month. After being released, she wrote a letter to clarify the truth to Police Chief Kong persuading him to stop persecuting people. As a result, they detained her for another month.

On December 14, 2002, Dong Benjun led some policemen to ransack Ms. Luo's residence and arrest her. During the night, she and Bu Jinghua, another practitioner, escaped. However, she was re-arrested at the Lizigou Train Station the next morning. Policeman Dalong brutally tortured her. He grabbed her hair, slammed her head against the wall and said viciously, "I'll kill you if you run away again." Ms. Luo told him, "It is a crime to arrest and beat us. We did not do anything bad." Dong Benjun, Dalong and others pushed Ms. Luo toward the male practitioner, Yu Zhiming, and verbally insulted them.

Inside the Ji An Detention Center, guards Dalong and Wu brutally beat Ms. Luo. They forced her to stand barefoot on the freezing cold cement floor for an hour and a half. Her face turned blue. Other people from the same cell all cried. To safeguard her belief and to protest the torture, Ms. Luo went on a hunger strike. She also refused to participate in any of the activities that the detention center carried out. The prison guards then shocked her with an electric baton and tied her up on a dead person's bed. Her body was bruised all over. The electric shock left dozens of bloody blisters all over her face.

During two years of hard labor, Ms. Luo suffered from brutal physical torture and misery. When she was released, she weighed only 88 lbs.

Currently, Ms. Luo Xizhen has been forced to leave her home and become homeless and destitute. Unable to endure this stress, her husband publicly announced his intention to divorce her. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) broke up her family that she and her husband had worked so hard to establish.

Such an unfortunate occurrence in the family caused Ms. Luo's 83-year-old mother to cry constantly and she almost lost her eyesight. Ms. Luo was forced into destitution. She has suffered economically, spiritually and physically.

3. Farmer, Ms. Li Chunjuan, a woman from Kuangshan Village of Qinghe Town had different kinds of illnesses before practicing Falun Gong. After practicing, she seemed to change into a different person. She is illness free and has an easy-going, gentle personality. From her, people can learn the extraordinary features of Falun Gong. Hence, people discover that Falun Dafa is Great.

One day in June 2005, police officer Wang Baochang and others broke into her home. The police ransacked her home and arrested her in front of her stunned 70-year-old mother. In the Ji An Detention Center, the guards used torture to try to get information from her. When Ms. Li could hardly bear the torture any longer, they put a slip of paper with Ms. Luo's name on it into a book and said, "You said that you didn't get the book from Ms. Luo Xizhen, but it even has her name on it." After suffering from the brutal torture, Ms. Li's mind was confused and so she nodded her head. This is how the CCP's police manipulate people to their advantage.

More than a month later, when family members saw Ms. Li, her back was still bruised, and two people had to carry her.

The Chinese Communist regime has held Mr. Wang Hao captive eight times, only because he believes in Falun Gong. On August 16, 2005 he was sentenced to one and a-half years of forced labor and has been held for six months at Wuhan City's Hewan Forced Labor Camp.

Falun Gong practitioner Ruan Guihuan was arrested on September 29, 2005. He has been held at the Yunfu City Detention Center. In December 2005, personnel from Yuncheng District filed a lawsuit against him and a court hearing will be held soon. Ruan Guihuan was sentenced to forced labor twice in November 2002. He was released in August 2004 but arrested again one year later.

On December 31, 2005 practitioner Li Yinghao's mother from Huichun City distributed some Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. Someone followed her home and arrested her and Li Yinghao from home.

4. [Jilin Province] Practitioners Tortured in the Jilin Province Forced Labor Camp Hospital

The Jilin Province Forced Labor Camp Hospital is also known as the Jilin Province Police Hospital. Falun Gong practitioners detained there have been ruthlessly tortured. Practitioners currently detained there include:

Ms. Zhang Liping, 32 years old, has been illegally sentenced to 11 years in prison. She has been detained at the Changchun City No.3 Detention Center or the hospital for three years.

Ms. Pei Shuying, 50 years old, has symptoms of serious heart disease.

Ms. Sun Shuying, 50 years old, is extremely skinny because of a hunger strike to protest illegal detention.

Ms. Zhang Dianrong, 47 years old. She sustained a fractured vertebra at the hands of police for validating Falun Gong. She cannot walk or work. She tried to request compensation, but all of her efforts have been in vain.

Ms. Wang Yuling has been sentenced to ten years of imprisonment.

Many male Falun Gong practitioners are detained at the hospital, including Wang Xiyuan. Police have incited prisoners to force-feed Wang, which has been ongoing for over a year. Although his life has been endangered many times, each time the police refused to release him.

Practitioners Wang Kefei, Yu Lixin and several others were tortured to death in the hospital.

Hospital doctors know very well the human physiological and psychological limits. They know how to torture a person's body and how to destroy a man's spirit.

At the end of December 2005, lawless policemen in Xingwen County arrested four practitioners and searched 11 practitioners' houses in the Gusong District.

 Ms. Yao Qingyu, 63 years old, lived in Shangbutou Village, Buliu Town, Rongcheng City, Shandong Province. She started to practice Falun Gong in 1998. Shortly after that, her diseases all disappeared. After the Chinese Communist Party started to persecute Falun Gong in July 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Unfortunately, she was arrested, fined 11,100 yuan, and detained for 45 days. In January 2000, she went to Beijing for the second time. She was arrested, transferred back to her hometown, fined 1,800 yuan, and tortured in a mental hospital for one month. In 2001, she was arrested by a team lead by the ex-party secretary of Shangbutou Village, Wang Xiangxiu; the Political and Legal Committee secretary of Buliu Town, Dong Zhaohao; and the director of Buliu Town Police Station, Song Houyu. She was transferred to and persecuted in the Tian'erhu brainwashing center. Her previous diseases reappeared and she passed away on March 3, 2003.

Ms. Wang Junwen, 69 years old, was a Falun Gong practitioner in Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province. In 1996, she had a disease causing her colon to narrow in several locations. No hospital could cure her disease, and she could only go home and wait for death. At this time, someone introduced Falun Gong to her. After she started to practice, her body improved daily, and she finally regained her health. Falun Gong gave her a second life. She told everyone the miracle of Falun Gong and her personal experience. In a large arrest in 2002, policemen from her local police station went to her home to harass, monitor, and threaten her and to try to force her to give up Falun Gong practice. They forced her son to write a guarantee statement for her. Ms. Wang's disease reappeared after long-term persecution and pressure from the police and at home. She died on December 31, 2005.

Mr. Chen Dekuan, 67 years old, lived on Guojiayuan Street, Lutai Town, Ninghe County, Tianjin City. After starting to practice Falun Gong in 1997, his paralysis from a stroke was cured without medical treatment. He became very healthy. He went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on April 25, 1999. After July 20, 1999, the police constantly harassed him, and the environment for group study and exercise was destroyed. This caused him to suffer greatly, both physically and mentally. His health deteriorated daily. He became blind in the right eye and almost blind in the left eye. He passed away on October 21, 2005.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Fu Jinquan, 55, lived in Hua County, Henan Province. He went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and to tell people about the beauty of Falun Gong. He was illegally arrested and detained for more than four months. The perpetrators from Hua County's local government frequently harassed Fu Jinquan and his family.

In August 2005, Falun Gong practitioners Zhi Zhanmin, Zhang Rongjie and Wei Haiwu from Baoding City, Hebei Province and Liu Yongwang, a practitioner from Beijing, were illegally arrested. Police held and persecuted them at the Baoding Detention Center. The officials were planning to file a lawsuit against them around the Chinese New Year and illegally sentence them to prison. Medical experts at the No. 301 Hospital in Beijing had diagnosed Liu Yongwang with a tumor near his spine and his legs could become paralyzed at any time. Despite his condition and without incriminating evidence and witnesses, the Baoding City police still refused to release him.
