Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Luan Fusheng from Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province was illegally arrested at home along with practitioners Ding Lihong (who was later tortured to death) and Wang Xinzhong in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. Luan Fusheng was illegally sentenced to 11 years in prison and is being held at a prison in Taiyuan City. Luan Fusheng is paralyzed and emaciated. He is extremely weak and is at the brink of death.

Years of illegal detention resulted in metabolic syndrome [manifesting in potentially severe heart and arterial disease]. Luan Fusheng was hospitalized several times. The prison authorities never told his family about his condition. Not until the hospital issued a Notice of Critical Condition was his family notified and allowed to see him in the hospital. He stayed at a police hospital where a dozen police officers took turns monitoring him. They forbid his family to talk to him. His family strongly urged the police to release him on medical parole, but they refused. Following is this practitioner's story:

Luan Fusheng is 55 years old. He had worked as an electrician for the Hebei Province Housing Administration Bureau. Mr. Luan went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Police officer Wei Ming beat him savagely at the Xinghua Street Police Station, now called the Weiming Street Police Station in the Qiaoxi District, Shijiazhuang City. He was handcuffed to a second floor balcony railing and tortured. He was further held at the Beijiao Custody Center for 30 days.

In early December 2000, Luan Fusheng was arrested in Beijing for appealing. He refused to give his name and address and was released after a few days' torture. Later he was arrested at a friend's home in another city and was held at the No 1 Detention Center for over 60 days. The officials illegally sentenced him to one year of forced labor, which he served at home because of his high blood pressure. Personnel at the Xinghua Police Department extorted 1,000 yuan from him, calling it a "fine." These same people soon attempted to send him for incarceration again, this time to a labor camp. He left home and went to Shanxi Province to avoid persecution. Mr. Luan was arrested in Taiyuan City (another source says Taigu County) in mid-October 2002.

On October 1, 2002, the Wanbolin Police Department in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province founded a "101 Special Case Squad" consisting of 30 lawless police officers. They started spying on, following and arresting Falun Gong practitioners. These officials arrested more than 100 practitioners between the middle of October and the middle of November. The arrested practitioners included Luan Fusheng, Ding Lihong and Wang Xinzhong who were unmercifully tortured at the Taiyuan City Police Hospital. The practitioners were subjected to beatings, being shocked with high-voltage electric batons, the Death Bed Torture and force-feeding. The police savagely tortured Ding Lihong to extort a confession. They sent him to a police hospital to further persecute him and eventually killed him through brutal force-feeding. According to testimony from a police officer in Shanxi Province, a few other practitioners were tortured to death at the same time.

 Ms. Qing Guifang is 61 and a retiree from the Supply and Sales Office in Chengguan Town, Wuqing District, Tianqin City. On April 8, 1997, Ms. Qing began to practice Falun Gong. The practice helped her to cure the prolonged diseases she suffered from. Her heart disease, high blood pressure, leg pains and headaches were gone. Her children no longer worried about her health. They could focus on their lives and work. It was a case of "with one person practicing, the whole family benefits."

On July 20, 1999, Sun Dehua, Zhao Qingli, Tan Zhenrong and about six to seven other people from Chengguan Town Government broke into Ms. Qing's house. They placed her under close surveillance.

After breakfast on July 22, Ms. Qing took a walk down the road toward an elementary school. Official Li Hongliang of the town government took her by force to the government building. More than ten practitioners had been taken there by force around the same time. The practitioners were forced to stand in a line on the west side of the government building yard. They were not allowed to raise their heads or talk. He Shisong of the Wuqing District Criminal Police Squad arrived at the Chengguan town government center with several government officials. A policeman pointed an electric baton at the practitioners saying, "Now, tell me the truth! Who of you still practices Falun Gong? If you do, then step forward." Ms. Qing said, "I do!" Two policemen immediately came over, pressed her head down forcefully, twisted her arms, and ran to a police car while dragging her on the ground. Ms. Qing was then thrown into the car. Her shoes and socks came off, her slacks were torn apart and her legs were wounded and bleeding. Two more practitioners were put in the car the same way. They were taken to a police station.

The policeman ordered the practitioners to stand facing the south wall and not raise their heads. The station chief, Li Xiushan, asked a policeman to bring Ms. Qing to a room for interrogation. A policeman, with the last name of Zhou, grabbed her hair and began beating and cursing her. He used the wooden handle of a long broom to thrash Ms. Qing's head. The abuse lasted longer than an hour. Later, Ms. Qing and two other practitioners were sent to the Wuqing District Detention Center. They were detained for ten days and 90 yuan was extorted from each of them.

The Secretary of the Political Justice Committee, Tian Yijin, the detention center chief, Li Xiushan, and the resident district policeman, named Zhao, took turns going to Ms. Qing's house, after her release, to harass her day and night. This seriously disrupted her life.

Around February 19, 2000, district policeman Zhao took Ms. Qing to the police station. That night, they sent her to the Wuqing District Detention Center.

The detention center held 17 to 19 practitioners in each locked cell. Ms. Qing and many other practitioners went on a hunger strike to protest their detention. As a result, the Wuqing District Police Department extended Ms. Qing's detention period by 15 days for "disrupting social order."

Right before the Moon Festival of 2000, the Secretary of the Political Justice Committee, Tian Yijin, forced Ms. Qing and practitioner Han Yuzhi into a brainwashing center at the Chinese Communist Party School in Wuqing District.

On the afternoon of January 19, 2001, Tian Yijin called Ms. Qing and told her that something needed her attention in the town government building. When she arrived, they put her in a brainwashing center and detained her for a month.

On March 8, 2001, Tian Yijin sent Ms. Qing to the brainwashing center at the Plum Factory in the Wuqing District. The perpetrators extorted 2000 yuan from her husband. They threatened to have it deducted from his salary if he refused to hand over the cash.

The district Procurator, the Public Security Bureau, the Political Justice Committee, the Workers' Union, the Criminal Police Squad and students hired from the Sport School organized the brainwashing center. At the brainwashing center practitioners were forced to sit on small stools or stand facing a wall for 4 to 5 hours with their backs straight and their noses touching the wall. If a practitioner moved even a little bit, they were beaten. Practitioners were forced to run or march soldier-style. They were only allowed to sleep for two hours every day. Most detained practitioners were female, between the ages of 50 and 60. They used threats and curses to force them to run and march. Practitioners were forced to watch videos slandering Falun Gong, and subjected to other brainwashing techniques every day. If a practitioner protested, he or she would be detained alone in a separate room and suffer other persecution.

Ms. Qing Guifang was persecuted in the brainwashing center for 38 days. Then she was sent to Wuqing District Detention Center and detained for another 20 days. Later, she was sentenced to two and half years of forced labor and sent to the Banqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp in Tianjin City. There, she was forced to do hard labor and deprived of sleep. Ms. Qing was transferred to Jianxin Forced Labor Camp in Tianjin 20 days later.

The Jianxin Forced Labor Camp force-fed Ms. Qing with unknown drugs and put drugs in her food. Policewoman Liu Yuxia, as team leader, was in charge of her persecution. The collaborators were ordered to brainwash her, deprive her of sleep and force her to stand. Ms. Qing refused to yield to the pressure they placed on her.

During April 2003, Ms. Qing was shocked with electric batons, beaten, cursed, deprived of sleep and forced to do hard labor. The practitioners were separated into several groups and taken to the brainwashing center where they were beaten and forced to stand in metal cages. Some practitioners were tortured so severely that their bodies were maimed. Many were bent at the waist and could no longer straighten up. Many had their legs crippled. All the hallways were full of slogans slandering Falun Gong. Every day the labor camp radio broadcast slanderous lies about Falun Gong.

Team leader Liu Yuxia ordered Ms. Qing to receive "medical" care, because she would not cooperate. Liu Yuxia and ten other policemen and women held her down while they injected her with unknown drugs. They continued to force her to do hard labor every day. At night, she was forced to stand and was deprived of sleep. No matter how severe the persecution was, Ms. Qing did not give up her belief in Falun Gong. On May 23, 2003, Ms. Qing openly walked out of the labor camp. When she returned home, the new Chief of Police at the Chengguan Town Police Station, Li Guangshun, and the policeman with the surname Zhou went to her home many times to harass her. Team leader Liu Yuxia of the Jianxin Forced Labor Camp called Ms. Qing and sent policewoman Gao Lina to her house twice to harass her.

March 30, 2005, Ms. Qing's husband, Wei Quan was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to people when the police arrested him. Ms. Qing went to the National Security Team to look for her husband. A policeman led her to a room and closed the door behind her. He then grabbed her hair, threw her on the floor and beat her violently. The noise from the beating and cursing was so loud that people very far away could hear it. After he beat Ms. Qing, he ordered her to sit in the hallway. Ms. Qing's legs were too weak from the beating and she fell on the ground. People walking by stopped to help her. One person said she looked all right when she arrived, but now she had been beaten into such a state. More and more people came to look at her, so the security team released her.

 Ms. Wei Jianyu, a Falun Gong practitioner from Shaowu City, Fujian Province, was a lecturer at the Fujian University of Technology. Since July 20 1999, Ms. Wei's home has been ransacked on many occasions and she has suffered brutal persecution. In April of 2000, she was illegally arrested and detained for her belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance." She was sentenced to four years in prison at the Fujian Province Women's Prison. In November 2003, Ms. Wei became very skinny and emaciated due to the torture at the prison. In November of 2004, after she had been home for about half a year, Ms. Wei was once again taken from her home, simply because she practiced the Falun Gong exercises outside. She was detained in the Fuzhou Forced Labor Camp for a year.

Ms. Wei's eldest brother, Mr. Wei Jianhui, gained a second chance at life after he started practicing Falun Gong. However, after the persecution of Falun Gong began, the police continuously harassed him and detained him. He died in September 2004. Their mother, Ms. Yu Meiying, who was once also detained for appealing for the right to practice Falun Gong, died in December of 2004 from the shock of her son's death and her daughter's re-arrest after having already suffered four years of forced labor.

My name is Wei Jianyu. I am 40 years old and from Zhaowu City, Fujian Province. I was a lecturer at Fujian University of Technology, but because I firmly insisted on practicing Falun Gong after the persecution started in July 1999, I have been illegally detained, sentenced, and had my home searched many times. Because of the pressure and terror, my husband divorced me. On April 18, 2004, I returned to my hometown after four years in prison, but only half a year later, on November 4, 2004, when I went to a park to practice the Falun Gong exercises, I was reported to the police who searched me and my home and detained me under the charge of "disrupting social order." I went on a hunger strike to protest and was set free on the sixth day. However, at noon on November 15, the police suddenly came to my home and took me to a detention center. Early the next morning, I was sent to Fuzhou Forced Labor Camp for one year of forced labor.

After I started practicing Falun Gong, both my body and mind became better and I started doing better at work. Every morning I would go to the park to practice the exercises to keep fit, but because I persisted in practicing Falun Gong, and believed in the principals of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance," I was thrown into a labor camp. In order to peacefully express my thoughts, I felt I had no choice but to go on a hunger strike. However, after four days, the labor camp even deprived me of my right to reject food. With no regard to the condition of my health, they force-fed me using all sorts of cruel methods.

(1) First, they used a device to pry open my mouth and inserted a thick medical stomach tube. My mouth was cut and bleeding from the contact with the device and it became swollen. When the stomach tube was inserted, I felt horrible and vomited out all the food they force-fed me.

(2) The mouth-opening device was used to pry open my mouth and they forced a stainless steel soup spoon deep into my mouth while five to six camp personnel clamped my nose, cheeks, head, hands and feet to keep me from moving. They even randomly scratched my armpit and the private and sensitive parts of my body. Sometimes, they would shove spoonful after spoonful of food into my throat. Food overflowed and flew all over my body until I vomited.

(3) They also force-fed me with a tube inserted through my nose and kept it inside of me for days. Each time they force-fed me, they would insert very little food, but they kept the tube in for a long time.

In February 2005, I became all skin and bones from the torture. The special team of the labor camp was afraid that I might die, so they told the duty staff that monitored me during the day to scrutinize my every movement. The staff was even put on duty at night to check whether or not I was alive. I could not sleep well at night and often woke up. I was even forced into hospitalization twice, costing me several thousand yuan. In order to make my family pay the money, they asked my little sister to visit me, although they always refused her visits previously.

Because I refused to submit to the persecution they put me through, I was often punished. They made me stand for a long time, and I was subjected to "physical training." For a long time, I was force-fed twice a day. I was also scolded and cursed. Government officials from the special team and an individual medical guard cursed at me at will and the labor camp personnel went along with the officials and doubled the abuse. Some even started beating me.

Since the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, over the course of the last more than six years, I have been unlawfully detained, put into various prisons and suffered all sorts of brutal torture. However, no matter how harsh and brutal the torture methods, our principles and beliefs should not be cast aside.

The power of Falun Gong has no boundaries. Even after severe torture and abuse, my body healed over the course of one year, almost as if it had been completely remolded. I became kind hearted and open minded, I had a better posture, and I became stronger. I was not easily fatigued.

On October 24, right before they were going to let me out of the forced labor camp, they stopped force-feeding me [while I was still on hunger strike]. Captain Wu Pinyu said to those that had been "transformed," "Look at her now. Wait three to five days, and see what she will look like. Everyone is a witness." However, what happened was completely contrary to what she expected. Several days later, I looked exactly the same as I had before. Not even the doctors understood why. They force-fed me once on October 27, then they stopped for three days. From October 31 to November 3, they force-fed me once a day. After those 11 days, however, I had not changed at all.

Modern medicine can't explain what happened to me. Falun Gong is supernatural, and countless practitioners have gained healthy bodies and minds.

My younger sister came to pick me up on November 4. It was then that I learned that my mother could not bear the shock of my second arrest and passed away towards the end of December 2004.

My mother was also a Falun Gong practitioner. After the persecution began in 1999, she became overwhelmed with grief.

(1) My second eldest brother was deeply poisoned by media propaganda, and upon seeing me being persecuted and helpless with nowhere to go, it caused him to become hostile and belligerent towards Falun Gong and its practitioners. In the years I was in prison, my brother blamed my mother as the cause of the persecution. My mother tried reasoning with him but he refused to listen, so she silently endured, trying her best to do housework for him, and hoping that he and his wife would become clear-headed.

(2) Towards the end of 2001, my mother and eldest sister-in-law (also a practitioner) went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. The plainclothes police at Tiananmen Square asked mother whether she was a Falun Gong practitioner. As soon as she answered "yes," they arrested her. My sister-in-law was arrested afterwards. They were detained at the Shaowu Detention Center for 15 days. The police extorted more than 2,000 yuan from each of them.

(3) After my eldest brother started practicing Falun Gong, his terminal liver cancer disappeared without any medical assistance and he understood that his life was extended for his Falun Gong practice. Since childhood, he had been weak and feeble, constantly relying on medicine to stay alive. After he started practicing Falun Gong, he no longer took medicine and his body gradually recovered. However, less than two years after he started practicing Falun Gong, the persecution began. During the years of persecution, my brother suffered many hardships. He was arrested and tortured for telling people the truth about Falun Gong. The torture he went through was far beyond his endurance. After he came home, the local police constantly harassed him. When they saw him reading Falun Gong books, they searched his home without a warrant and took him to the police station for interrogation. His wife was also interrogated and cuffed and hung up many times for refusing to answer questions. After the police searched for and confiscated his precious Falun Gong literature, my brother, who suffered mental and physical harm, became nervous and terrified. On the morning of September 2, 2004, when he was fighting his illness with all his strength, three police officers came again. After 5 p.m. that day, my eldest brother passed away. His death devastated my mother.

(4) I have been arrested many times since the persecution began. While my eldest brother and I were being persecuted in prison, our mother was constantly worried about us. Before she died, when I was forced to stop eating, my mother still worried about my safety. Before my 70-year-old mother started practicing Falun Gong, she was emaciated. After she started practicing she became strong and healthy again. The evil Communist Party's brutal persecution of Falun Gong eventually caused both my mother and eldest brother to pass away.

After I walked out the iron gates of the labor camp on November 4, 2005, I had to clean up my home, which was riddled with litter like a dumpster. Upon seeing the situation I was in, my kind-hearted relatives and neighbors cared for me and tried to help. Despite everything, my second eldest brother blamed me for our parent's deaths. My father was terminally ill and died in June 1999, at the age of 75. When he was alive, he understood that Falun Gong teaches people to be good. Not only did my brother break our father's will, deprive me of all the property I was to inherit, and seize all property, he even turned nothing into something in order to curse me over it, treated me with belligerence and even threatened to kick me out. From my brother's actions, I realized the agonizing suffering my mother went through when I was in prison. The lies the Communist Party mobilized to carry out the persecution consumed my second brother, destroying his conscience and basic sense of humanity

The evil party caused the death of my family members and shattered those remaining. Practitioners oppose the persecution and stand by the truth. Falun Gong gave me a new life. The truth is eternal; the turning tide of history is inevitable; Falun Gong will be one day be praised by all beings.

 Since April 2005, 610 Office agents in Rong County have arrested 11 Falun Gong practitioners, including Zhou Ziping, Zhu Ronggui, Xia Simei, Xu Guihua, Xu Da, Xu San, Lu Guifang, Ding Qungeng, and others. The 610 office agents also ransacked over 20 homes. Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lu Guifang, in her seventies, was sentenced to four years of incarceration.

The officers arrested the elderly Ms. Lu Guifang, detained her and tortured her. During the trial, she made a simple statement: "I did not do anything wrong. Our Falun Gong is to save lives; we did not do anything bad." She was given a four-year sentence. The forced labor camp refused to admit her, and she was sent to a brainwashing center. The authorities subsequently transferred her to the Detention Center of Zigong City for further persecution.

On November 24, 2005, villains from across the province held a meeting in Rong County to secretly plot their strategies to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. On November 25, the 610 Office of Rong County unlawfully sentenced Zhu Ronggui to 6 years, Xia Simei to 6 years, Luo Yuecheng to 4 years, and Zhou Ziping to 4 years. Xu Da and Xu San managed to escape after a hunger strike of 15 days. Ding Qungen was placed under house surveillance and became homeless in order to avoid further persecution. Two other practitioners were also forced to become homeless.

On December 1, 2005, practitioners Xu Yanping and Zhang Tianxiu from Changshan, in Rong County were arrested on the road. They are being held and persecuted in the Detention Center of Rong County.

 55-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Du Jinglan lived in Harbin City. She was tortured for a long time at the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison and died from torture on October 23, 2005. In order to cover up the facts, the authorities from the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison lied to her family. Below is additional information on the torture of Du Jinglan during her illegal incarceration.

The guards, especially the ones at Ward No. 8 at the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison, are extremely cruel to Falun Gong practitioners. Zheng Jie, Zhang Chunhua and Zhang Xiuli are the three group leaders who often order inmates to torture Falun Gong practitioners. Zheng Jie said to the practitioners, "If you die [from torture], we'll throw your body over the wall and tell people that you died from natural causes."

Practitioner Du Jinglan was illegally sentenced to seven years in prison in April 2003. The charge was "conspiring to commit a crime," and she was held at the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison. In November 2003, Du Jinglan insisted that she is a Falun Gong practitioner and not a criminal, and therefore should not have to perform manual labor. Four inmates dragged her by her feet from the prison dorm on the third floor. Her head banged against the ground; her clothes were torn and her body was cut and bruised in the process. They dragged her to the workshop on the third floor, and the inmates banged her head against the staircase. At the workshop, they tied her hands behind her back, attached her to a rope and pulled the rope up so that she was lifted off the ground. Then they released her and forced her to squat without moving. She sometimes could not squat without moving, so the inmates tortured her with "flying the airplane," where she is bent over and her arms are pulled up from behind her, and she is forced to hold that painful position for long periods of time.

Beads of sweat dripped from her face. She was tortured this way until the inmates got off work late in the evening, which was either midnight or 2:00 a.m. Afterwards, Du Jinglan was tied up again and not allowed to sleep. She was forced to sit on the cold floor and was tortured the same way the next day until she agreed to work. Du Jinglan was tortured for about two weeks.

In September 2003, the guards in four sections persecuted the practitioners at Ward No 8 for 11 days. They denied the practitioners sleep throughout this period and forced them to run constantly.

Du Jinglan was chained to the workshop floor and later forced to run. Other practitioners were shocked to see her walking with her back bent at a 90-degree angle. Her blood pressure measured 280 mm Hg, at the very top of the sphygmomanometer, so it's unknown what her true blood pressure was. She was forcibly injected with a blood pressure-lowering drug. Then the inmates dragged her out and forced her to run and do exercises. She did not have the strength to run, so the inmates beat her.

For another type of torture, about 40 guards and inmates stood in a circle, each holding an object such as an electric baton, police baton, a piece of white plastic tubing, a water bottle, a bamboo stick, a wooden stick, or a metal rod. They struck the practitioners' heads and bodies. Some inmates refused to hit the practitioners, and the guards beat these inmates until their faces were covered with bruises. In this way, they forced the inmates to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.

Du Jinglan and other practitioners were badly injured from the beatings. The labor camp doctor and the three group leaders laughed at the practitioners' injuries. Some inmates hung the practitioners from a metal railing and said they were "treating the practitioners' illness" this way. They also poked the practitioners' private areas with metal rods. Zhang Chunhua said, "We'll treat your back pain this way."

At least seven practitioners were suffering from high blood pressure exceeding 220 mm Hg. They were given injections and forced to run. They were not given water and not enough food for 11 days.

Du Jinglan could not straighten her back and suffered from high blood pressure. The guards didn't make her run when her blood pressure was at 280, but instead tortured her with "flying an airplane." She was soaked with sweat. In the evening, they forced her to sit on the concrete floor and didn't let her use the toilet. She spoke up, "I need to use the restroom." The inmates cursed her and said, "You can wait until tomorrow morning." She was forced to relieve herself on the spot and soiled her pants. She sat on the concrete floor for a whole night.

One evening in September, she sat on the cold concrete floor with her hands and feet tightly bound behind her, wearing only a sweatshirt and sweatpants. She was forbidden to sleep and tortured for nearly one month.

As of January 30, 2004, she refused to work to resist the persecution. She was dragged to the office, handcuffed and forced to squat. In the winter, she was stripped of her coat and cotton pants, and sat on the floor wearing only sweatpants. She held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. About three days later, Shang Xiaomei brutally force-fed her with lots of salt. Du Jinglan's mouth and tongue turned numb from excessive salt intake. The inmates also pried open her mouth with a tool and knocked some of her teeth loose in the process. Two of her teeth later fell out. At first, inmate Song Libo cruelly force-fed Du Jinglan, although Song Libo is not a doctor. Du Jinglan was dragged to the workshop and forced to work. She worked for 15 days before she was allowed to return to the dorm.

In September 2005, Du Jinglan refused to wear a nametag identifying her as an inmate, because she is not a criminal. The guards refused to let her buy things from the canteen and order food, and the inmates didn't allow her to read Falun Gong books and do the exercises. Fan Dandan, Wang Jing and Zhao Shuzhen routinely harassed her, encouraged by the guards. They beat and cursed at her whenever she read Falun Gong books.

On October 23, 2005, Du Jinglan was at the brink of death due to long-term persecution. She was sent to a hospital, where a group leader and about seven inmates gave her a forced IV infusion. They tied her to the bed, and three days later she died as a result of the torture she had suffered. Her body was cremated on October 27, 2005.

In order to cover up the facts, the authorities from the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison lied to her family, who was not aware of the persecution against her at the time.

Du Jinglan did not die from natural causes as the authorities had claimed. One week before her death, Du Jinglan lost sight in both of her eyes. Sun Yu, the guard in charge of persecuting Falun Gong, inquired about her condition once, and afterwards no one ever brought it up again. Du Jinglan died as a result of the persecution at Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison.

 The Strictly Controlled Group at the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp in Guangdong Province was especially established to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The abusers open the practitioners' letters and monitor practitioners after their release. Some newly arrested practitioners were isolated for one to three years or longer. Guard Lei Huiqing and four others shocked practitioner Nian Jingsheng with three clawed electric batons for a whole morning.

Nian Jingsheng's hands turned numb for a month from being tied up with rope.

Guard Chen Zhao pressed practitioner Wang Jingxian's head onto a rock by the side of a road. The edges of the rock disfigured Wang Jingxian's face.

After practitioner Ms. Shao Guixing, a teacher from the Physics Department of the Baoding Normal Junior College in Hebei Province, was arrested in November 2005, she was illegally sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor by the Nanshi District Police Department of Baoding City on December 12, 2005. Ms. Shao is currently being held in the Women's Group of the Balizhuang Forced Labor Camp of Baoding City and tortured through forced brainwashing. At present there are more than sixty Falun Gong practitioners being illegally held in the Women's Group of the Balizhuang Forced Labor Camp of Baoding City.

2. [Lingwu City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Persecution Facts on Ms. Zhang Lanfang and Her Sisters

Practitioner Ms. Zhang Lanfang is forty-nine years old and lives in Lingwu City in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. She started practicing Falun Gong in 2000. In 2003, for simply relaying with another practitioner a tape of the Falun Gong exercise music, Ms. Zhang Lanfang was illegally arrested and held in a brainwashing center. She was later released. The police illegally detained Ms. Zhang Lanfang's husband. When Ms. Zhang Lanfang went to the police department to ask for an explanation on December 16, 2005, she was arrested and taken to the Yingchuan City Detention Center.

Ms. Zhang Lanfang's elder sister, practitioner Ms. Zhang Yufang, is sixty-one years old and is a retired cadre from the Lingwu City Sanitation and Epidemic Disease Presentation Station in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. In February 2002, Ms. Zhang Yufang was illegally sentenced to two and a half years of forced labor. She was tortured until the lower half of her body was paralyzed, causing incontinence of urination and defecation. Her husband, practitioner Mr. Xu Yaozhen, was also illegally sentenced to forced labor for practicing Falun Gong. Their daughter Ms. Xu Yan, also a Falun Gong practitioner, was forced to leave home to avoid being arrested. Shortly after she returned home to take care of her mother, she was arrested in August 2003. Later she was illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor. Ms. Xu is currently being held in the Women's Prison of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

The second elder sister of Ms. Zhang Lanfang, practitioner Ms. Zhang Shufang, is fifty-seven years old and lives in Yingchuan City. She started to practice Falun Gong in 1998. She went to Beijing to appeal in March 2003 and was illegally detained for one month.

Ms. Zhang Lanfang's younger sister, practitioner Ms. Zhang Lifang, is forty-five years old and lives in Guyuan City. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1998. She was arrested three times. In March 2005, she was illegally sentenced to eighteen months of forced labor.

3. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Ms. Niu Lanying and Ms. Li Honggui Arrested after Being Reported by a Taxicab Driver

Practitioners Ms. Niu Lanying and Ms. Li Honggui were taking a taxicab to Linxia City at 6:00 p.m. on December 16, 2005. Because they clarified the truth and also distributed truth-clarification materials to the taxicab driver, the taxicab driver reported them to the police. They were arrested by police officers from the local police department that evening. They are currently being held in the Linxia City Detention Center.

4. [Guiping County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region] Elderly Practitioner Ms. Su Cailian Arrested

Ms. Liang Zhihua's mother, practitioner Ms. Su Cailian, is in her seventies and lives in Wangsheng Village, Luoxiu Town, Guiping County in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. When Ms. Su was caring for the children in Ms. Liang Zhihua's house in Shenzhen City, police officer Cai Han'gui (male) from the Guiping County Political and Judicial Committee and the Guiping County 610 Office, colluded with the Guiping County Police Department and the Guanlan Police Station of Shenzhen City to arrest Ms. Su Cailian.

5. [Gongyi City, Henan Province] Ms. Zhang Zhen and Ms. Zhang Menghong Illegally Sentenced to Forced Labor

Practitioners Ms. Zhang Zhen and Ms. Zhang Menghong, from Zhenggou Village, Xiaoguan Town of Gongyi City in Henan Province, were reported to the police by Zhang Chunyi (male) from Louzigou Village while they were distributing truth-clarification materials on November 6, 2005. They were arrested by police officers from the Xiaoguan Town Police Station and then taken to the Gongyi City Detention Center, where they were held and tortured for twelve days. After that, they were taken to the Shibalihe Women's Forced Labor Camp of Zhengzhou City and illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor.

6. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Liu Zhiqing Arrested

The Chongzhou City (under Chengdu City) 610 Office suddenly arrested practitioner, railway maintenance worker, Mr. Liu Zhiqing, from Zitong County of Chongzhou City on December 3, 2005. The whereabouts of Mr. Liu Zhiqing are currently unclear.

7. [Lingyuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Mr. Wang Guohua Arrested and Detained

Practitioner Mr. Wang Guohua from Lingyuan City in Liaoning Province went to a country fair in Ningcheng County, Chifeng City in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to clarify the truth on December 18, 2005, when he was reported to the police and subsequently arrested. Mr. Wang is currently being held illegally and tortured in the Ningcheng County Detention Center.

8. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Wang Shuyun and Ms. Feng Guifen Taken to the Women's Forced Labor Camp in Huhehaote City

Practitioners Ms. Wang Shuyun from Ningcheng County, Chifeng City in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Ms. Feng Guifen, from Lingyuan City, were illegally detained in the Ningcheng County Prison on December 13, 2005. Under the direction of the Chifeng City Police Department, the police officers are now taking the two practitioners to the Huhehaote City Women's Forced Labor Camp to continue the illegal torture.

9. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Li Suzhen Arrested

Practitioner Ms. Li Suzhen from Guangzhou City in Guangdong Province was arrested in either November or December 2005. Her daughter lives in Toronto, Canada.

10. [Beijing City] Practitioners Ms. Wang Shurong, Ms. Li Meifen and Ms. Zhang Xueru from the Shunyi District of Beijing City Arrested

On the evening of December 1, 2005, practitioner Ms. Wang Shurong from Chapeng Village, Linmu Town, Shunyi District of Beijing City, went with three other practitioners to Dabeiwu Village to distribute truth-clarification materials. Among them, Ms. Li Meifen and Ms. Zhang Xueru were arrested. Ms. Wang Shurong and another practitioner walked away with wisdom. After 10:00 a.m. on December 5, the police from the National Security Groupof the Police Department went to ransack Ms. Wang Shurong's house, but did not find anything. They arrested Ms. Wang Shurong and took her to the Linmu Police Station. At 8:00 p.m. on December 5, 2005, Ms. Wang Shurong managed to walk away from the evil police station. After 10:00 a.m. on the morning of December 12, 2005, the Chapeng Village Public Security Director, Xu Jiufu (male), led police officers from the National Security Groupand the police station to break into Ms. Wang Shurong's house again and arrest Ms. Wang. Ms. Wang is still being held in Shunyi District Detention Center.

11. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Fuwen Arrested

Practitioner Ms. Wang Fuwen from the Dadong District of Shenyang City, around sixty-five years of age, was reported to the police for distributing truth-clarification materials near the Education Department of the Dadong District at midnight on November 14, 2005. She was subsequently arrested. Ms. Wang is currently being held illegally in the Shenyang City Detention Center.

12. [Qingyang City, Gansu Province] The Police Extorted Money from Mr. Guo Zhenbang and His Wife Mrs. Li Shumei

At noon on November 8, 2005, practitioners Mr. Guo Zhenbang and his wife Mrs. Li Shumei from Ning County of Qingyang City in Gansu Province were reported to the police while distributing truth-clarification materials in the family residential building of Ning County No. 1 Middle School. The section chief of the National Security Groupof Ning County, Hu Ningsheng (male), led police officers including Zhu Hua'ning (male) in arresting the two practitioners and illegally interrogating them for as long as nine hours. The family members of the practitioners rescued them in time. The police extorted four thousand yuan from them before the practitioners were released at 9:00 p.m. on November 8, 2005.

1. [Changchun, Jilin Province] Ms. Xue Xiuhua Is Brutally Tortured at Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Xue Xiuhua, 57, was a Falun Gong practitioner from Yanji City. She was illegally sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp by the local government last April or May and detained at the Heizuiji Forced Labor Camp located in Changchun. During the past six months, she had been tortured and forced to write the so-called three statements and words that slander Falun Gong. Xue Xiuhua refused to do all of these and never yielded. The police struck Xue Xiuhua's mouth and private parts with electric batons. As a result, she lost control of her bladder and bowels. Now Xue Xiuhua is extremely weak, yet the police do not allow other people to carry her. Even when it's time to go to the canteen to have meals, no one is allowed to carry her. Any one who carries her will suffer even more evil persecution.

2. [Jixi, Heilongjiang Province] Practitioner Lin Qingjia Is Detained

Lin Qingjia is a Falun Gong practitioner from Fangzheng. His home is in Hulin of Jixi City of Heilongjiang Province. In the morning of December 30, 2005, the local police came to his house and arrested him, using the excuse of checking the registered permanent residence. Now he is being detained at Hulin Detention Center.

3. [Yujiang County, Jiangxi Province] Two Practitioners Arrested While Distributing Truth Clarifying Materials

Ms. Wu Shuqin and Jin Aiming were distributing Falun Gong truth clarifying materials on the night of December 28, 2005 when they were arrested by the local police. Now Wu Shuqin and Jin Aiming are being detained at Yingtan Detention Center.

The person responsible for arranging the arrest is Luo Yuezhong, the deputy head of the police station of Yujing County. He is mainly in charge of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners of Yujiang. His cell phone number is (86)13307012777.

4. [Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Huimin Arrested While Distributing Truth Clarifying Materials

At noon on January 4, 2006, when Ms. Wang Huimin, a Falun Gong practitioner from Haigang District of Qinhuangdao was distributing truth clarifying materials at Mengying area, she was caught by two public security guards and arrested, then sent to the police station of Mengying.

5. [Jiutai, Jilin Province] Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp Knocks Out Practitioner's Teeth

Around the end of November to early December, 2005, at the Agricultural Team of Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp of Jiutai of Jilin Province, Wang Chuntong, a Falun Gong practitioner, lost one of his front teeth while being beaten by Gao Ke, head of the team. Both of his hands were handcuffed and attached to the boards of the upper bed. At the so-called strict control unit, another Falun Gong practitioner, Li Wenjun, has suffered forced-feeding for over three months. The persecution is still occurring.

6. [Henan Province] Twelve Practitioners Arrested by 610 Office at Zhongyuan Oilfield

Before the new year of 2006, Zheng Xiaolin, a Falun Gong practitioner from Zhongyuan Oilfield, was arrested by the 610 Office while clarifying the truth. Recently, the 610 Office arrested another twelve practitioners.

7. [Liaoning Province] Zhao Enfa Is Detained at Huludao Forced Labor Camp

Mr. Zhao Enfa, a practitioner from Gaoqiao of Huludao has been detained at Huludao Forced Labor Camp since mid 2004. He is currently extremely weak. When his family went to visit him, he was having an infusion and hadn't had any food for more than ten days. His family questioned the police why a man who used to be in a very good health condition was now persecuted to such a horrible state. The police not only did not release him, on the contrary, they asked his family for money. Zhao Enfa's wife is now homeless due to the persecution. At present, only their daughter and their older parents, who are in their 70's, live together, with no one helping them.

8. [Quanzhou, Fujian Province] Ms. Xue Zhaohui Is Detained at the Women's Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Xue Zhaohui, a practitioner from Quanzhou of Fujian Province has been detained at the Women's Forced Labor Camp of Fujian Province. She is now very feeble and skinny. This is her third time being detained in the same place.

9. [Tianjin] Practitioner Dou Guiqin Is Arrested Again

Dou Guiqing, a Falun Gong practitioner from the Epidemic Prevention Station of Dagang District was arrested again. She was also arrested a few months ago. When her family went to the police station to ask them to release her, the police refused their request. It was only when her family gave the police 10,000 yuan that the police agreed to release her. After this New Year, Dou Guiqin was arrested again when she was at work.
