  • A Fatherless Teenage Boy's Story - Part II

    Part I: http://clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2005/8/12/63860.html

First-time police encounter: frightening a 10-year-old child with threats and lies

The labor camp never allowed Boru's father, Wang Hongbin's family to visit him, also concealing his physical condition and refusing him medical treatment. They later sent him to the Strictly Controlled Group where they didn't allow Wang Hongbin's family to send him clothes. Several times when Feng Xiaomei went to visit her husband the perpetrators were extremely rude and threatened to detain her as well.

With help from a kind-hearted person, the labor camp authorities eventually agreed to let Wang Boru have a secret meeting with his father by himself. The door guards at the labor camp threatened and lied to ten-year-old Wang Boru and asked if he practiced Falun Gong. Wang Boru didn't answer because he didn't want to lose his chance of seeing his father. In the end, someone couldn't stand the guards' rudeness toward a child and confronted the guards, who finally let Wang Boru in to see his father. On his way back, Wang Boru was pallid and he threw up from being overexcited and frightened.

    Wang Boru's father tortured

Ma Wensheng, head of the Shijiazhuang City 610 Office and his subordinates are the main perpetrators responsible for Wang Hongbin's abduction. They followed former president Jiang Zemin's policy toward Falun Gong ("ruin their reputation, bankrupt them financially, and destroy them physically"), and they arrested a group of Falun Gong practitioners they regarded as important. They abducted Wang Hongbin after they ordered personnel at the Changan Police Department to tap Wang Hongbin's home phone and cell phone, and tailed him for over a month.

After Wang Hongbin was taken to Shuanghuan Hotel in Shijiazhuang City, Wang Xiaofeng from the Shijiazhuang City Police Department's "610 Office" and Hu Guanghui, deputy head of the Political and Security Division of the Changan Police Department attempted to force Wang Hongbin to sign a "confession" written by the perpetrators. This "confession" stated that Wang Hongbin gave three Falun Gong VCDs to Lu Xinshu, a teacher at Tatan School, in Lu Xinshu's office in September 2000. Because he had never done this, Wang Hongbin refused to sign the confession and asked to speak with Lu Xinshu. The perpetrators denied his request and forced him to stand barefooted on the ground. They handcuffed him in a "forced backbend" position [this is a very painful form of torture in which one arm is reaching down the back behind the head and the other hand meets it from the lower back. The two hands are cuffed together to cause unbearable pain. This is a torture reserved for hardcore criminals]. While Wang Hongbin was handcuffed, the perpetrators beat and kicked him; they abused him verbally and didn't give him food. They claimed that Wang Hongbin was holding a hunger strike, and they force-fed him.

Several of the abducted practitioners were savagely beaten. Lu Xinshu's wife was beaten until she lost consciousness; she lost her hearing and had convulsions before the perpetrators released her. Wang Hongbin heard practitioner Lu Xinshu screaming in the room next door and saw that the face of practitioner Yang Jianmei was black and blue.

Lu Xinshu was sentenced to eight years in prison and Yang Jianmei was sentenced to 12 years in prison. They are currently held at the Baoding Prison. Wang Hongbin was sentenced to three years of forced labor and was held in Division 2 of the Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp. According to a source inside the police department, Wang Hongbin's labor camp sentence was the official conclusion of his case, and Ma Wensheng and his subordinates from the city's "610 Office" received a 50,000 yuan reward for persecuting the practitioners.

    Wang Boru's father passes away

Wang Boru's father Wang Hongbin (deceased)

Wang Hongbin was tortured physically, and mentally tormented during the time he was held at the labor camp. He was not allowed to sleep for a very long time because he refused to renounce Falun Gong. As soon as he fell asleep, the guards ordered inmates to burn his fingers with cigarette lighters. Once, he had one hand shackled to the metal window grate, with his feet barely touching the ground; he was handcuffed in this position for three days and three nights. The inmates monitored him and hit his ankles with sticks when his feet touched the wall. The inmates followed him everywhere, including the restroom, because they would receive points and sentence reductions for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Wang Hongbin was threatened with being sent to the Strictly Controlled Group and was constantly living under great pressure. His health deteriorated from torture.

Early in the year before Wang Hongbin's release, the labor camp authorities took him to a hospital for a physical exam and claimed he had a stomach disease, but a more reliable source states it was actually lung cancer. The labor camp authorities didn't allow him to receive medical treatment. They released him before his sentence expired, when he was on the brink of death.

After he returned home, for a while Wang Hongbin didn't look in the mirror because he saw an emaciated old man. He became introverted and often sat by himself staring into space, growing thinner and coughing with increasing frequency. He intuitively avoided police, including traffic police, and was jittery whenever someone knocked on the door. He didn't have much confidence in anything he did, and his health continued to worsen. He passed away soon afterward.

Feng Xiaomei risked her own and her son's safety and appealed numerous times for her husband's release. When he finally returned home, she watched Wang Hongin grow thinner and weaker by the day, but could not help him. The agony was unbearable for a wife.

Wang Boru followed aunt to appeal and was separated from her

Wang Boru was very close to his aunt Feng Xiaomin. Feng Xiaomin graduated from Qiqihar Normal University in Heilongjiang Province and was sent to work at the No. 6 Cotton Factory in Shijiazhuang City.

Wang Boru, his mother Feng Xiaomei and aunt Feng Xiaomin

When Feng Xiaomin was in the ninth grade she moved from northeast China to live with her sister and brother-in-law. Later, she became sick and depressed because she was not satisfied with her work. After seeing her sister and brother-in-law getting healthy and happy because of practicing Falun Gong, she decided to give it a try and started reading Falun Gong books around 1996. As she continued to read the books and do the exercises, she learned many principles and knew that she should look inward when conflicts arose, and she should be strict with herself in order to become a better person. Feng Xiaomin enjoyed better health and became a more productive employee. Later, she met Falun Gong practitioner Wang Xiaofeng. They fell in love and got married. In the mornings they went to a practice site to do the exercises before going to work. They read Falun Gong books together in the evening. They enjoyed a peaceful and happy life. They took care of their parents. On weekends, they either visited their parents or went out with her sister's family.

Wang Boru's parents were arrested during the July 20, 1999 mass arrests. Ten-year-old Wang Boru was left home alone. Feng Xiaomin quit her job and took Wang Boru to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and to look for Wang Boru's parents. They went to the Shijiazhuang City Appeals Office, the Hebei Province Appeal Office and were told that only the State Council Appeals Office had the authority to resolve the issue. Feng Xiaomin and Wang Boru set off for Beijing. Riot police filled the main streets to intercept Falun Gong practitioners, and they were forced to walk in cornfields. They had blisters on their feet and their clothes were soiled. They were hungry and tired.

When Boru and his aunt arrived in Beijing they saw plainclothes police officers everywhere arresting people. Wang Boru was accidentally separated from Feng Xiaomin. Feng Xiaomin and many other Falun Gong practitioners went to Tiananmen Square where thousands of Falun Gong practitioners sat on the ground and recited Falun Gong articles such as Lunyu and "Genuine Cultivation." Fully armed military police surrounded the square and they suddenly started to drag the practitioner into police cars. The practitioners held hands and firmly resisted the police violence. When the police beat the practitioners the practitioners said, "We would never return a blow or a curse." The scene was very moving. Some police officers were touched and they stopped beating people. An elderly police officer hit Feng Xiaomin on the neck and threw her in a police car. They sent her back to Shijiazhuang City and held her at the Party Office before releasing her.

After she went home, Feng Xiaomin felt dizzy and disoriented. She hadn't succeeded in finding her sister and brother-in-law and she had been separated from her nephew Wang Boru. After much difficulty, she first went to the place where her husband Wang Xiaofeng was held and successfully appealed for his release. She eventually found Wang Boru at her neighbor's home. Wang Boru looked perplexed and had a blank look on his face.

    Feng Xiaomin shoulders responsibilities

From then on, Feng Xiaomin didn't live another day in peace. The police officers went to her home and forced her to turn in Falun Gong books; the perpetrators from the Party Office went to her home and forced her to write "guarantee statements" to renounce Falun Gong, and people from the Street Party Committee watched her every move. Her family and friends bombarded her with criticism and tried to persuade her to give up Falun Gong saying, "You need to provide for young Wang Boru." Feng Xiaomin persisted in her belief in Falun Gong. She went home more than two months after her sister and brother-in-law were abducted and detained. She had to be very careful because there was always someone watching her and following her whenever she left home.

On December 5, 2000 Wang Hongbin was abducted from home again, and his wife Feng Xiaomei dared not return home for fear of certain arrest. Feng Xiaomin was again faced with the responsibility of providing for Wang Boru. She sent Wang Boru to school and picked him up. She went to great lengths to find out the whereabouts of her sister and brother-in-law. She was worried that the police might ransack her home again. One month later, her sister was tortured to the brink of death and was sent home by the police. People who saw her said she wouldn't live, but Feng Xiaomin took good care of her sister and with firm righteous thoughts, she studied the law and made phone calls and wrote materials calling attention to the illegal persecution of Falun Gong. She also went to related police departments to expose and confront the perpetrators and told them that they would be held responsible for anything that happens to her sister. Feng Xiaomin strongly urged them to release her brother-in-law. With her relentless efforts, her sister recovered after one week and the police didn't abduct anyone else in her family.

During this period Wang Boru's mother was in great pain; her whole body was swollen and she had difficulty moving around. Wang Boru finished his homework right after he returned home each day, then helped his mother eat, drink and go to the restroom. Before he went to bed he asked his mother to wake him up if she felt uncomfortable.

    Wang Boru's aunt passes away

On May 1, 2001, Feng Xiaomin and another practitioner went to a mountain carrying pieces of tape with the words "Falun Dafa is Great" written on them. Officers from Donghualu Police Department in Shijiazhuang City abducted them, and the two practitioners disappeared for nearly 40 days. The police ordered inmates to beat them and unlawfully sent them to the No. 1 Detention Center in Shijiazhuang City. Feng Xiaomin firmly resisted the persecution and held a hunger strike for over 20 days. She was very weak and several times was at death's door. The detention center refused to keep her, as did the labor camp, yet the Donghualu Police Department still refused to release Ms. Feng and even tried to extort 5,000 yuan from her family. Feng Xiaomei and Feng Xiaomin firmly resisted the persecution and refused to give money to the police.

Feng Xiaomin eventually returned to the home of her sister, but she often had fever and was very weak. The perpetrators were quite unscrupulous and frequently abducted practitioners who had been released after holding hunger strikes, and sent them to brainwashing classes or directly to labor camps. Feng Xiaomin and her husband left her sister's home and lived a homeless life in order to avoid being arrested again. She rarely contacted her family for fear that they would also be persecuted. During all this time Feng Xiaomin practiced Falun Gong and recovered quickly. She clarified the truth and exposed the perpetrators' crimes.

Around September 2002 Feng Xiaomin gave birth to a baby boy named Tian Xing, and her life became even more difficult. The police were at that time searching and arresting Falun Gong practitioners under the pretext of examining household registrations. Feng Xiaomin heard that the head of the police department was harassing her sister and demanding that she help find Feng Xiaomin and her husband. Because of this, Feng Xiaomin didn't ask her family to help take care of the baby. It was their firstborn and they had a very hard time taking care of the baby. They constantly moved to avoid the police and lived under great pressure.

    Baby Tian Xing

Wang Boru's aunt Feng Xiaomin (deceased)

During the SARS epidemic, an entrance permit and ID was required everywhere anyone went. Falun Gong practitioners living away from home didn't carry identification cards. During their homeless period, Feng Xiaomin and her family continued to be harassed. This forced the couple to separate. She took on the hardship of caring for the infant alone. The pressure was so great that her mind and body were affected to the point where she could no longer look after the baby and had to leave him with her sister.

After she sent the baby away, the police escalated their pressure on Feng Xiaomei to find Feng Xiaomin, to the extent that Feng Xiaomin couldn't visit her infant son. Because of her weak physical condition, one day Feng Xiaomin suddenly fell unconscious and was rushed to the hospital. She passed away five days later. Ms. Feng was diagnosed with encephalitis, but the yellow brain fluid indicated something else. The doctor suspected that she had been struck on the head. Her family members also suspected that the police beat her, because when her family saw her she could not recognize them. She thought they were the police and cried out for them not to torture her. Feng Xiaomin's sister and husband were deeply saddened seeing her condition.

Feng Xiaomin passed away at the age of 34, before she could witness the end of the persecution of Falun Gong. She will not be able to watch her son grow up.

    To be continued.

More Information about Young Wang Boru: A Tragically Short Childhood

Minghui special report: Wang Boru is 16 years old, a teenager and only child, who was loved by his parents. Tragically, after July 20, 1999, six years ago, his childhood was over.

Photo 1: Wang Boru at 16 years in 2005

Boru clearly remembers the day after he turned 10 years old. He had enjoyed his birthday cake the day before, was content and fell asleep that night, happy and secure. In the morning, after Boru got up, he was alone. His parents had disappeared and the home was empty. What had happened during the night? Boru asked everyone he could find. The adults told him that his parent had been arrested at midnight.

Photo 2: Prior to 1999, Boru's parents always celebrated his birthday.

Photo 3: Time passes and everything has changed. This is a photo of Boru's father (Wang Hongbin) and mother (Feng Xiaomei). Childhood for Boru is only a precious memory.

Boru and his aunt walked a long distance to look for his parents. Only later he found out that he had gone for an "appeal." Boru has forgotten much about that trip. But he remembers that there were policemen everywhere. They could not pass the police. He saw police arresting people on the roadside and on Tiananmen Square. He continued to walk! His aunt also disappeared. Therefore, he had to stay with several acquaintances. In the end, someone recognized him and took him back to Shijiazhuang.

After he returned to Shijiazhuang, Boru was alone. Therefore, he became a beggar. Boru can't remember the homes where he stayed to find shelter. But, when he occasionally meets an acquaintance on the street, they say to him, "This child has already grown so tall! You spent two days at our home for a while." Relatives called his home, but the phone remained unanswered at all times. Thus, they realized that something had happened to his family. After the relatives finally found Boru, they saw that his legs were full of open sores, which discharged pus and a yellow-white liquid.

About a month later, one of his younger uncles came to his home. He took Boru to a prison, where he saw his parents. Even through it was a prison, Boru wanted to stay with his parents instead of returning home. The adults had to forcibly take him home.

A week later, his parents were set free. However, frequent visits by staff from the street office and residents' committee office, and searches by police became a common sight. On "sensitive days", the adults had no choice but to hide away from home. During those days Boru stayed home alone and ate instant noodles. Sometimes, his parents took him with them into homelessness to avoid the persecution. On the road, when they became too hungry, they shared a baked cake or a sweet potato. Boru had become used to this way of life. School no longer attracted him that much. He was not willing to talk about his family matters with teachers and schoolmates. When he slept at night, he always held on to his mother's hand. He was in constant fear that she would disappear again by the time he woke up.

One night in 2000, a group of policemen came to his house and arrested his dad. Where did they take his dad? Boru's mother did not know, nor did Boru. Nearly two months later, they heard that his father had been sentenced to three years of forced labor.

In July 2003, due to practitioners' r rescue efforts, Boru's father gained his freedom ahead of schedule. On that day, Boru and his mother took his mother's company car to pick up his dad. His father's hair had turned white. Boru had not seen his dad for two years, but he did not know what to say when they met again. On the way home, his dad asked Boru about his studies.

The family was finally united. Alas, they could no longer realize the warmth and happiness of the family life they had enjoyed before July 20, 1999. To support the family, Boru's mother worked very hard day and night. Except for coughing, Boru's father was silent. He talked occasionally as to how dark it was at the labor camp. While in the camp, family members were not allowed to visit and he was deprived of sleep for three to four days at a time. The guards had burned his fingernails with a cigarette lighter, hung him on the window, and much more. Boru did not know how to comfort his father, other than doing the cooking and washing the clothes. He understood that he would make his father happy if he studied hard and therefore he studied diligently.

One night three months later, his mother took his ill father to the hospital. The following morning his mother had to give Boru the sad news that his father had passed away from lung cancer.

When Boru misses his father, he looks at the photos - the photos of happier times, when he went swimming with his father on weekends, or when they did mountain climbing during family holidays. Boru then sees his father again in his mind.

After Boru's father died, the police arrested his aunt and uncle. They were able to escape. Some time later his aunt returned home, but she was very ill. She died after five days in the hospital, on International Children's Day in 2004. On the day she passed away, Boru saw his aunt's husband again. Afterwards, nobody knew where he had gone to, but the police still frequently visited his home to ask for him.

Not long after his aunt passed away, grandfather's soul also left this world. The elderly man had come from a village in the northeast to stay with his two daughters. He had not expected to see his family broken up within a year. Since then, grandfather often was in a daze. His health worsened, and he died soon after his daughter's death.

Photo: 3-year-old cousin Tian Xing (taken in 2005)

Boru, his mother, grandmother and 3-year-old cousin Tian Xing were the only four members left of this once happy family. Tian Xing is very innocent and is learning to sing. He sings all day long. Boru feels very sorry for him, as he lost both parents at such a young age. Therefore, Boru takes Tian Xing often to the park and plays with him on the weekend.

Boru is now 16 years old and graduated recently from junior high school. He has no plans about his future. However, the one decision he made is to absolutely not deal with police officers.

Practitioner Jiang Meilan Rescued with the Cooperation of the Whole Team

On July 1, 2005, Ms. Jiang Meilan was rescued from Baimalong Labor Camp after being on a hunger strike for 100 days. The rescue occurred with the cooperation of overseas Falun Gong practitioners, Hunan Falun Gong practitioners as well as her family.

The above photos were taken the day after Jiang Meilan's rescue. She was so emaciated that she was just skin and bones. Jiang Meilan was force-fed twice a day for 15 days out the 100 days she was on hunger strike. She never gave her name after being illegally arrested, so the persecutors didn't know where she was from. Ms. Jiang was sent to Baimalong Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province without her family being notified.

When Jiang Meilan was first sent to the labor camp, she had nothing with her except the clothes she was wearing. The guards forbade prisoners to communicate with her. Neither would they allow her to change clothes. Her clothes were soiled by the force-feeding and she had no clean clothes to change into. The force-feeding was very brutal. The guards pried Ms. Jiang's mouth open with a metal spoon, and fed her rice soup from a chipped enamel bowl. Flakes of enamel were mixed in the rice soup and fed to her. Later, they could no longer feed her this way, so they switched to giving her intravenous injections. Ms. Jiang's arms became severely bruised because of this.

In Prestigious University, Student Suffers a Mental Collapse Due to Persecution, Employee Imprisoned in Shandong Province

    Summary

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Zhimei was enrolled in the Chemical Engineering Department of Tsinghua University in 1997. In 2001, she was illegally sentenced to 12 years in prison and has since suffered a mental collapse due to the relentless persecution. She is now being held in the Women's Prison of Shandong Province.

An employee of Tsinghua Unisplendour Corporation, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wu Xiangwan, was illegally sentenced to 8 years in prison in May 2004. Currently, he is being persecuted in a prison in Shandong Province.

More details of their cases follow:

Tsinghua University student, Liu Zhimei, suffers a mental collapse due to persecution.

Ms. Liu Zhimei was a top-ranked student from the Chemical Engineering Department of Tsinghua University. She came from a farm village of Laiyang City, Shandong Province. After July 1999, like many other Falun Gong practitioners, she was asked to leave the school temporarily. She was requested to write a "guarantee letter" and articles to denounce Falun Gong; otherwise, she would be expelled from the university. However, Ms. Liu rejected the school's unreasonable requests as well as those from her family, and firmly persisted in her belief. Because of her persistence in practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Liu Zhimei was expelled by Tsinghua University in March 2001.

In order to support herself, Liu Zhimei worked part-time at a video game store in her hometown. In the beginning of 2000, she went back to Beijing. On October 26, 2000, Ms. Liu was arrested at Tiananmen Square and then illegally jailed in the Yanqing Detention Center in a suburb of Beijing. There were 40 people on the bus traveling to the detention center. The policemen demanded that everyone pay 30 yuan for a "transportation fee." Liu Zhimei rejected their request, and was seriously beaten by the police. After going on a hunger strike for 7 days in protest, she was released from the detention center.

In May 2001, Liu Zhimei was abducted from her rental house in the Haidian District. After being held in several detention centers, she was finally incarcerated in the detention center of the 7th Station of the Beijing Police Department, where she suffered from many brutal tortures. Her head was injured and deformed, her chest was seriously injured, and many of her fingernails were torn off. In November 2002, Ms. Liu was unlawfully sentenced to 12 years in prison by the Haidian District Court , and was transferred to the Women's Prison of Shandong Province (in Jinan City) for further persecution. She rejected "transformation" for a long time. Finally, perpetrators deceived her by using the enticement of allowing her back in school. Under the pressure and the lies, Liu Zhimei unwillingly signed the guarantee statement. After Tsinghua University sent some people to "examine" Liu Zhimei, she was rejected by the university and not allowed to return to school. At that moment, Liu Zhimei suffered a mental collapse. She is now jailed in the Women's Prison of Shandong Province.

Liu Zhimei's mother lived in a farm village. When she heard that her daughter was sentenced to 12 years, she also became mentally unstable. Because of the family's poor financial situation, they have not been able to visit Liu Zhimei even once. We hope that all the Falun Gong practitioners can support Liu Zhimei with righteous thoughts and that all the compassionate people from around the world will help us rescue her.

Employee of Tsinghua Unisplendour Corporation, Mr. Wu Xiangwan, was illegally sentenced to 8 years

Mr. Wu Xiangwan, 37 years old, graduated from a college in Nanjing. He originally came from Wujiaguo Village, Sishili Town, Yishui County, Linyi City, Shandong Province. When Tsinghua University started the Unisplendour construction project in 1996, several young people were hired from different areas of China. Wu Xiangwan was one of them. Later on, all of them started to practice Falun Gong. This story was well known at that time. In the beginning of 2001, the entire project was dismissed, and Wu Xiangwan found another job at the Zhaowei Xiaotong Company.

On April 25, 2001, Wu Xiangwan held a banner to appeal for Falun Gong in Tiananmen Square. As a result, he was unlawfully sentenced to one and a half years in a labor camp. After being imprisoned and tortured for two months in Beijing Labor Camp Dispatch Department (7th Section), he was sent to Tuanhe Labor Camp for further persecution. In the 5th Group of Tuanhe Labor Camp, because of his steadfast belief in Falun Gong, Wu Xianwan was isolated in a special training team for additional torture. Perpetrator Liu Jinbiao shocked him with a 150-kilovolt electric baton. Several electric shocks made him physically and mentally exhausted. He could not even hold a bowl because of the tremors from the shocks.

After the labor camp sentence was up, Mr. Wu's parents picked him up on October 25, 2002. After a short recovery, he went to Beijing to find a job and appealed for Falun Gong in November 2002. He lived with a Tsinghua University student and a Falun Gong practitioner, Zhang Lianjun, at 45 Puji Court in Tsinghua University. Since Zhang Lianjun's cell phone was tapped, perpetrators from Haidian District National Security Bureau broke into their room and abducted them on January 23, 2003.

After imprisoning them for more than a year in a detention center, Wu Xiangwan was tried in court in May 2004. Although Mr. Wu rationally defended himself in court, he was still sentenced to 8 years in prison for appealing for Falun Gong at the Old Summer Palace in the beginning of 2001. Several days later, Zhang Lainjun, who had been on hunger strike for one year, was also sent to court and sentenced to 8 years in prison. Zhang Lianjun has since been tortured to a vegetative state and currently is detained in Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia.

After Wu Xiangwan was sentenced to 8 years in prison, he was sent to the "learning class" of Shandong Province Prison, where to this day he is suffering brainwashing and torture. His wife's last name is Wang. She is also a Falun Gong practitioner from the Tsinghua University practice group. She was unlawfully sentenced to 3 years in a labor camp. Mr. Wu was taken away before his wife was released. Currently, Ms. Wang works part-time, but her whereabouts are unknown.

Information about Six Elderly Falun Gong Practitioners from Hebei, Liaoning and Shandong Provinces and from Tianjin City Who Died Due to the Persecution

Ms. Guo Runzhen, 56, lived at No. 19 Tuanjie Building, Sanhuai Road, Tanggu District, Tianjin City. Before she practiced Falun Gong, she had high blood pressure and diabetes. After she started practicing Falun Gong in 1997, she totally recovered from the illnesses. When the Chinese Government started persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. The police from the Tanggu Police Department in Tianjin City arrested her. They searched her home and confiscated some of her belongings. After she was released, the personnel who were in charge of Politics and Security in the Sanhuai Road Community continually harassed her at home. Ms. Guo suffered tremendously both physically and emotionally. They also forced her family members to monitor her and would not allow her to contact other practitioners. As a result of the ongoing persecution, Ms. Guo Runzhen's old illnesses returned and she died in January 2004.

Ms. Liu Guiying, 79, was from Botou City, Hebei Province. Before she practiced Falun Gong, she had heart disease, a bone spur and other illnesses for many years. After she started practicing Falun Gong in 1998, all her ailments disappeared, including the old age spots on her body. After July 20, 1999, the local officials harassed and threatened her many times. Ms. Liu passed away on February 16, 2002, because she was not able to practice Falun Gong.

Ms. Mou Guilan, 69, lived on Taiyuan Street, Shahekou District, Dalian City, Liaoning Province. After July 20, 1999, the local police and the officials from the Taiyuan Street Community frequently came to her home to harass her and coerce her to give up Falun Gong. Without a normal environment to practice, her health declined and her old ailments returned. Ms. Mou Guilan died on September 26, 2004.

Ms. Jiang Yuxiu, 74, was from Fangzi District, Weifang City, Shandong Province. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. After July 20, 1999, she watched Jiang's faction brutally persecute Falun Gong practitioners, including her practitioner nephew, who was arrested many times and is now held in a detention center. Ms. Jiang Yuxiu suffered a great deal both mentally and physically as a result of the persecution. She passed away on May 3, 2005.

Ms. Chen Guiying, 66, was from Sananzi Village, Weifang City, Shandong Province. She started practicing Falun Gong in1996, and she benefited a great deal in both body and mind. Her husband was also a practitioner. After July 20, 1999, when Jiang's regime started persecuting Falun Gong, Ms. Chen watched her practitioner relatives, her sister-in-law, nephew and niece, being arrested again and again. Meanwhile she also worried about her two daughters, who were also practitioners, being persecuted. She lived in constant fear. In February 2004, Ms. Chen Guiying's health quickly deteriorated, and she passed away on June 25. Two days later, her husband also passed away.

A Letter From Deyang Prison, Sichuan Province

    Zhi,

How are you? It has been a long time since we have communicated. We really appreciate what you did. Right now we are all fine. We will also do the three things well. Every time we read a new article written by Master we are very inspired and encouraged.

When we learned how to formally withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), we all published our declaration in different ways. Over the last few months, more than ten Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally sent to prison. To our knowledge, they are all being held on the third floor of the Second Section. Right now the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in the Second Section is very severe. Each practitioner is watched by two criminal inmates. They are not allowed to go downstairs or talk to other practitioners. They are forced to recite the prison regulation rules, report to the prison guard and watch television programs that slander Falun Gong. Because many practitioners refused to recite the prison regulations they were severely beaten by the criminals. In fact, most of the practitioners who are sent to this section are beaten viciously by the criminal inmates.

In the middle of May, a Falun Gong practitioner (his name is unknown) was beaten so badly by criminals one night that his life was in great danger by the morning. The practitioner was sent to Qingjiang Hospital at Jintang, Chengdu City, and is out of danger for now. The Second Section has concealed the truth about this incident and has lied by saying that his condition was caused by illness. This Falun Gong practitioner has already informed his family of the truth and asked them to sue the responsible parties.

Currently there are more than 20 Falun Gong practitioners in the Second Section. Except the more than ten practitioners who have just been sent here recently and restrained on the third floor, the others are practitioners who have been here from one to two years. The prison authorities force them to perform intense physical training every day to torture them. The prison frequently locks them in the strict-monitoring team, and forces them to participate in high strength drilling. The prison gives them very little food to eat. The practitioners are forced to run 80 laps every morning and 80 laps every afternoon. Every day they are forced to stand in the "army corps" posture from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the morning and stand for more than one hour under the sun in the afternoon.

    1. Falun Gong practitioner Yang Yourun (from Guanghan City) has been held in the strict-monitoring team for a long time. In the strict-monitoring team the criminals frequently beat him under the prison guard's orders. A criminal named Lan Wei manages the strict-monitoring team and often incites other criminals to beat the Falun Gong practitioners.

    2. Falun Gong practitioner Luo Xiaoxing (from Panzhihua City) was caught talking to another Falun Gong practitioner by criminal Liu Dequan of the Second Section. Liu Dequan immediately rushed him, broke his thermos and dragged him for several feet. After that, Liu Dequan put him in the strict-monitoring team for a few months.

Right now, every noon hour more than ten Falun Gong practitioners from the first floor are forced to stand under the sun for more than an hour for refusing to recite the prison rules. Every Saturday and Sunday, all practitioners are forced to sit under the sun to recite the prison rules. These kinds of corporal punishment and beatings happen to Falun Gong practitioners throughout the prison, but this fact is rarely known outside the prison.

A lot of practitioners are held in the transition team (a team set up to give orientation to new comers) for one to two years and are not allowed to see any people or family members. This is also a form of persecution, and it violates the regulations (the regulation clearly states that people can only be held in the transition team for two to three months). The purpose of not allowing them to have visitors is because they are afraid of people finding out what they are doing to Falun Gong practitioners. This is the situation of what is happening in the prison right now.

All right, we hope things are well on your side. Let us all try our best to do the three things well in order to reduce the persecution and end this persecution as soon as possible.

CCP Government's Plan to Investigate Abuse of Power is Used as a Ruse to Lure Practitioners to Come Forward

In May 2004, as published by the Xinhua News Agency, Premier of the State Council Wen Jiabao signed Order No. 431, regarding the Supreme People's Procuratorate decision to investigate and crack down on government officials' abuse of power, violations of human rights, and involvement in criminal activities. This news was widely published in local newspapers.

In another case, there was an article in the Ying Bao Weekly Review in Hunan Province stating, "The open-door policy of police department benefits the harmony of the society." After local Falun Gong practitioners read these articles, they went to the local appeal office and reported the persecution and abuse they received over the past six years. Their purpose was to ask the officers and officials not to commit any more crimes and to not abuse the kind, law-abiding citizens who practice Falun Gong. To their great surprise, officials from the local appeal office, the police, and the town 610 Office arrested, beat, searched and detained the practitioners right on the spot.

This is ample evidence that what the Chinese Communist Party has recently talked up, the so-called, "establish harmonious society, crack down on government officials' criminal activities, enthusiastically meet the appeals of the people" is a complete setup. It is clearly a con game to lure kind people into coming out so that they can round up more practitioners on a large scale.

On June 4, Falun Gong practitioners Yang Daowen and Zeng Yongxiang, from Wukou Town, went to their local appeal office, and they were arrested immediately by the Political Legal Secretary, Chen Zhulian, and Fang Daguo from the police station, and were transferred to the County's State Security Bureau. Li Jianzhou from the Bureau had beaten Zeng Yongxiang and injured him. This was confirmed by a local medical expert. Zeng Yongxiang was held for a day and was threatened with having his home raided if he dared to appeal again. His mother, unable to handle the shock, became ill.

On July 10, Falun Gong practitioner Ou Shenqiu, and his wife from Nanjiang Town, were arrested. His wife was sent home due to an illness. Xu Saigui, and Li Kuoyuan, a couple from Hongjiao Town, were also picked up in the same manner. On July 21, Li Yanru, from Ricenchuan Township was arrested. On July 1, Falun Gong practitioners Chen Kangzong, and Hu Weirong, were taken to the county 610 Office and fined 2,000 yuan each before being released. The County State Security police station, and the County 610 Office harassed Li Yongyi at her home for several hours because she had gone to the town appeal office many times. On July 21, the Yuping County 610 Office's Dai Wenming, State Security officer Zou Jun, and five people from the police station raided Falun Gong practitioner Li Fengchun's house.

From the above evidence, it is not hard to see the evil nature of the Chinese Communist Party, which constantly uses lies to deceive the people.

Summary of Other Articles and News - July 25, 2005

    1. The Brutality of Policemen at the Mudanjiang Prison

The Mudanjiang Prison brutally torments Falun Gong practitioners who firmly refuse to compromise their beliefs. The torture includes sleep deprivation for entire days and nights, brutal beatings and kicks, long periods of forced standing, forced labor, shocks from electric batons, handcuffing practitioners' hands and feet tightly, locking practitioners in confinement, and more. In December 2004, Falun Gong practitioner Su Yan's eyes were injured, her face was disfigured, and she was given a severe bloody nose. Steadfast practitioners are not allowed visits or contact from their families. Practitioner Wei Xiaodong was severely persecuted and passed away after only a little more then ten days of torture. Another unnamed practitioner refused to be "transformed". As a result, he was locked up in confinement for three months. He was starved and became very skinny and emaciated. He died not long after being sent to the hospital. There are 22 wards in Mudanjiang Prison. In total, the prison is detaining about 140 Falun Gong practitioners. The police rigorously monitor practitioners and block information about the conditions in the camp from being exposed to the outside. The policemen often drag practitioners to dark places to secretly persecute and torture them, and many unnamed practitioners have lost their lives.

    2. Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners by the Chongqing Changan Public Security No. 1 Sub-Bureau and the Maojiashan Women's Forced Labor Camp

On May 13, 2005, the public security officers of the Changan Public Security Sub-Bureau strictly monitored Ms. Yu Qunfang's whereabouts. July 20 was one of the sensitive dates for the policemen [July 20, 1999, is the date that Jiang and his regime began their ruthless persecution of Falun Gong]. On this date, they closely monitored Yu Qunfang from their police wagon at the intersection she frequently used.

The Maojiashan Women's Forced Labor Camp nominally carries out so-called "human nature management," but in reality, they impose brutal physical and mental torture on Falun Gong practitioners. The labor camp staff threatens practitioners daily, and practitioners are not allowed to leave the small room they are given or even wash themselves. In these small rooms, which are only about three meters by three meters, drug addicts monitor Falun Gong practitioners in three shifts, with two addicts per shift. Every day, practitioners are forced to stand in a military posture or sit in an upright position. The practitioners under 60 years old are forced to do half squats, and other exhausting exercises and postures. Practitioners are forced get up at five in the morning and are forced to stay awake until midnight. It is reported that Falun Gong practitioner Wan Chuanlian has been tortured in a small cell (1) for four months since the beginning of her illegal detention. Ms. Wan has suffered a mental collapse, and she now has very slow reaction times.

    (1) A small cell is a room of less than three square meters. It has no window, no bed, no water, and no toilet. The practitioner is locked in a small cell for months, having to eat, sleep, and relieve themselves in the same small area. Since the height of the room is less than 1.5 meters, the practitioner cannot stand straight. To exacerbate the agony, the guards often handcuff the practitioners to the small cell door so that the pain prevents them from being able to sleep.

    3. The Cruelty of the 610 Office in Guanxian County, Shandong Province

Ren Guangmin from the 610 Office in Guanxian County, Shandong Province, uses extremely cruel means to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Because of this, he has been made the head of the Guanxian County 610 Office. All of the persecution in Guanxian County in some way relates to 610 Officer Ren Guangmin. Tian Dongqi, also from the 610 Office, puts forth great effort in persecuting Falun Gong. Because of this he was promoted to the Secretary of the Yanzhuang Village Party Committee and locally he has become most unscrupulous. Yet another perpetrator, Xue Lianchun, has arrested, detained, fined, sentenced, and "re-educated" thousands of Falun Gong practitioners. Because of his efforts in persecuting practitioners, he was promoted to Commissar of the Guanxian County Public Security Bureau. Chen Yuezhi, formerly the assistant chief of the Politics and Security Section of the Public Security Bureau, has taken over Xue Lianchun's position as group leader, and still continues to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Shi Xuezeng has been promoted to 610 Office chief due to his extensive efforts in persecuting Falun Gong. Jing Jun, led by Tian Dongqi, has also participated in the persecution of practitioners, and Jing has been promoted to Secretary of the Guanxian County Party Committee. Ma Wenchang also persecutes Falun Gong practitioners; once he cruelly tortured a female practitioner causing her to be bedridden for a long time. His actions led to his promotion to deputy chief and deputy principal of the local 610 Office. Sun Xiumin has also become deputy chief of the 610 Office and a deputy principal because of his persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.
